The initial assessment of a research article is designed to aid students who lac

The initial assessment of a research article is designed to aid students who lack prior knowledge of research and have limited experience in reading research articles to grasp the fundamental concepts of research. Students are tasked with identifying a social work research article (or an article related to their major if it differs from social work). As this first critique serves as a preliminary exercise, students are encouraged to evaluate the article without specific guidelines but rather to critically reflect on the nature of research articles. This involves analyzing the structure, components, composition, writing styles, sections, and subsections, among other aspects. The emphasis is on the format of the paper, and students are advised not to focus on the content or narratives within the article. For instance, instead of discussing how authors found that mental health negatively affected the academic achievement of foster care children, students should concentrate on how the research was conducted and how the authors describe their methodology during the study.
The chosen article for this assignment must report empirical research (only qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research articles are accepted; no theoretical papers with no data analysis) and must be published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals within the past 10 years. The Journal of Evidence-Informed Social Work is suggested as a prime candidate for locating empirical research articles (Journal of Evidence Informed Social Work ). However, they have a few review articles. So, please carefully check if they say it is a review article like book review.

The purpose of this part of the assignment is to develop insight about what info

The purpose of this part of the assignment is to develop insight about what informs you as a social worker and how this may influence your work with clients. Our own experiences impact our personal “story”, and if we are unaware of our own story, we risk the possibility of our story impacting our work with clients without us knowing it. Specifically, you should identify a ‘narrative’ (a storyline) that you have internalized that informs who you are as a social worker. ‘Narratives’ are stories or groups of concepts that give meaning to our experiences. Areas to consider may include your experience with dominant discourses from our culture, your family, attachment experiences, your relationships, and your biases.
This paper should be 2-4 pages in length and include the following:
Describe a narrative that you have adopted or internalized, including components that influence your identity as a social worker, your goals, and your adherence to values or theoretical ways of thinking.
Describe how the narrative developed, including influential persons, experiences, and how you’ve made meaning from them.
Discuss how the narrative is constructive and/or destructive (problematic) to your functioning as a social worker.
Discuss ideas for how to deal with your narrative in order to be most constructive in your career as a social worker.

Listed below are several research situations that you may encounter in your professional practice.
Two other social work students decide to do their class research project by observing the nocturnal activities at a homeless shelter. The shelter has a limited number of beds and cannot accommodate everyone seeking housing. The two students show up and wait in line early enough to get beds and then watch and record the goings on at night while they pretend to be asleep.
A new intervention is advertised as an extremely effective and powerful brief therapy for posttraumatic stress disorder among victims of sexual assault. Although sufficient resources exist to provide this treatment to all clients at a rape crisis center, the decision is made to provide it to only half the clients, so its effects can be compared to the effects of the center’s routine services.
An in-service training director in a family service agency interviews social work staff about their training needs. To test whether they may be saying they know more than they really know in order to make a good impression, the director asks if they have sufficient understanding about a fictitious intervention modality.
1. Rank the examples according to how seriously they violate either the ethical guidelines discussed in this chapter or the social work profession’s code of ethics, 1 being the most serious violation and 3 being the least serious violation.
2. Beside each rank, explain the reason for your ranking and identify the one or two ethical issues most relevant to the situation.
Suppose your agency is working with a well-established immigrant community that has a long and positive relationship with the agency. Because of widespread war and famine in the country from which they immigrated, the agency have collectively made a commitment to help at least 1000 refugees re-settle in the U.S. Very few of the new immigrants will have English language skills, most will have spent a prolonged period of time living in refugee camps, and many will have religious and cultural practices different from those practiced by the majority in the United States. Although your agency is fundamentally concerned with providing the needed services, it also wants to include elements of program evaluation to learn from the experiences.
Suppose your already have a client satisfaction scale that has English and Spanish language versions, but not one in the language that the refugees speak. You may assume that most of the refugees will have only very limited reading skills.
1. How will you proceed with this case? Outline at least two steps you would undertake.
2. How would you test the equivalence of the new scale?

In your readings this week, The SAGE Handbook of International Social Work, the authors suggest the particular professional roles and activities social workers can undertake in instances of human rights violations are empowerment, advocacy, capability training (resources and education), and public consciousness-raising (p. 82).
In your experience as a social worker, you have been called to empower, advocate, provide resources and education, and raise public consciousness for others or over an issue or a concern.
What is a current human rights issue that you would like to address? Discuss how you would empower, advocate, increase capability, and raise public consciousness about this issue, What theory or theories would you use to guide you?
Support your ideas with properly cited references from scholarly resources, which may include your text.

Develop a training presentation that could be used to assist new social workers

Develop a training presentation that could be used to assist new social workers in the field working with children who have been abused. Include the following in your narrated PowerPoint:
Model evidence-informed crisis counseling techniques to demonstrate that social workers are knowledgeable about evidence-informed interventions to achieve the goals of clients and constituencies, including individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities..
Explain specific treatments for children who have been abused/neglected or experienced trauma.
Recommend specific community resources from your local community or state with specific services for children who are abused/neglected or experienced trauma to demonstrate your understanding of ways in which social workers value the importance of interprofessional teamwork and communication in interventions, recognizing that beneficial outcomes may require interdisciplinary, interprofessional, and inter-organizational collaboration.
Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists and should cite material appropriately. Add audio to each slide using the Mediasection of the Insert tab in the top menu bar for each slide.
Support your presentation with at least three scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.
Length: 12 slides (with a separate reference slide)
Notes Length: 100-150 words for each slide
