Make sure to review the Module Overview on the Module 1 home page before responding to the Discussion question.
Outline the first three things/steps you will do as you begin your investigation. For example, will you begin by doing some research about the disease? Or would you begin by interviewing Sara? Would you interview someone at the agency? If so, who? Or would you do something else? Please explain your rationale.

Global EVH Protocols
During week 6, you will begin planning your Global Environmental Health Protocols folder. Each student will create a personal folder on your laptop.
For week 6 (Air and Water Quality), you are required to submit the following information.
1. Select a country that you like to travel for a mission trip as a public health professional.
2. Do a search on their environmental problems related to water and air quality and top 10 causes of mortality.
3. Choose a toxicology issue/s (poisons in their air and water) for that country (example: Arsenic in drinking water is a major environmental health for Bangla Desh; sewage contamination in Puerto Rico and air quality is a concern in Bejing and other industrialized areas of the world).
4. Find simple protocols (e.g., use PubMed -something scientific) for purifying water from e.g., arsenic contamination.
5. Find simple protocols for protecting yourself from poor air quality and/or for monitoring air quality (hint: use a coffee filter in a mask or look into Purple Air – look at their map, too).

Assignment Name: Public Health Agency/Organization Brochure Topic for Brochure (healthy lifestyle choices)
Task: Students will prepare a brochure of a public health agency/organization that they created. The agency/organization must address one or multiple public health science(s): epidemiology, biostatistics, environment and occupational health, health promotion and disease prevention, and health policy. Remember for this brochure you will be required to make both the back and front of the brochure and each page must have the correct orientation when printed. The brochure is not an in depth study of a topic but it should give enough information to grab and keep the readers interest from start to finish. In addition to what your brochure says, you must decide the best format to present your information. Different formats work best for brochures with lots of text, lots of pictures, small blocks of text, lists, charts, or maps. You’ll need to find the format that works best for your information.
The brochure can inform, educate, persuade, explain, or instruct. The brochure might describe a person, a place, or a thing. A brochure informs, educates or persuades. Businesses often use brochures to inform, educate, or persuade — quickly. They use a brochure to grab the reader’s attention and get them interested enough to want to know more. A brochure for a new convenience store might have a map and list of all the locations around town and a brief description of the types of food products it sells. The brochure for an Animal Shelter may give facts about abandoned animals, pet overpopulation, and the importance of spaying and neutering programs. The brochure as an informative, educational, or persuasive device must present information in a clear, organized manner. It should give enough information that the reader won’t be left wondering “what’s this really about” but should also be a “quick read” so that the reader doesn’t become bored before reaching the end.
Be sure to:
Use MS Word in Landscape mode, to change to Landscape –> File / Page Setup / Paper Size / Landscape or PUBLISHER
Sub titles to break the information into short quick-read sections
Bullets to highlight important points
One Textbox containing important information, such as web sites to learn more.
Graphics
Use FULL JUSTIFICATION to visually balance the short blocks of text
Checklist for success:
Does the brochure give the name and address of the organization?
Is the purpose of the organization clearly stated?
Does the brochure list the organizations activities and/or services?
If appropriate, is there a calendar of events?
If the organization has a product or service that it sells (or gives away) is that in the brochure?
Is the mission and vision stated?
Does the brochure tell how to contact the organization?
Are the most important activities of the organization highlighted?
Does the brochure make the reader want to visit/receive services from this organization (or find out more about it)?

In this module, you will read a systematic review that outlines the issue of imp

In this module, you will read a systematic review that outlines the issue of implicit bias among health care professionals. In 2017, The Institute for Healthcare Improvement released a guide for health care organizations regarding health equity. This white paper was part of this week’s reading. Please review the guide carefully.
Views on implicit bias, social inequalities, and racism are widely varied. The authors of the works you are reading obviously hold convictions common in academia on these topics.
After having read and reviewed both documents, you need want you to explore these topics, the literature, and theological guidelines for understanding what is being offered by theses authors. A traditional way to interact with this material would be to discuss the means by which implicit bias, social inequities, and racism undermine health and create challenges to achieving health equity at the organizational, community, and societal levels. Perhaps another way to engage this material would be to examine how can efforts to root out perceived inequities actually lead to new inequities and instances of discrimination that threaten individual health.
Feel free to speak from personal and professional experience, but make sure that your argumentation is academic, synthetic, and theological.
As you conclude, identify at least one recommendation for public health institutions and public health professionals to implement as they serve and love well their neighbors (c.f., Luke 10:25-37). Lastly, in your theological engagement here, make sure that you are not simply using the Bible for your own purposes, but are drawing out salient biblical themes and theologies clearly prescribed in the text. Here it would be wise to consider the pervasiveness of sin and the heart of humanity, or perhaps a biblical view of justice (but this cannot be done without also exploring righteousness). Define your terms clearly and make sure that you assessment is not simply an easily plucked passage, chosen out of context.
