1.Based on the Haass readings , pick one of these theories- Realism, Liberalism, or Radical theory- and explain each of these issues:
1) inequality between states in the global economy (some are very rich, some are very poor)
2) the growing instability of the global economy in the post-Bretton Woods system (more crisis, more currency fluctuations, more vulnerability to money leaving a country because of financial liberalization)
3) the growing power of multinational corporations in Global South countries
This has to be at least 200 words in total. Make sure your answer and explanations of each issue are specific to the theory chosen for each.
2. Consider this statement in Paul Poast’s “Not a World War but a World at War”
“The Uppsala Conflict Data Program, which has been tracking wars globally since1945, identified 2022 and 2023 as the most conflictual years in the world since the end of the Cold War. Back in January 2023, before many of the above conflicts erupted , United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed sounded the alarm, noting that peace “is now under grave threat” across the globe. The Seeming cascade of conflict gives rise to one obvious question: Why?”
(You must have a sentence in the essay that reads “I argue that 2022 and 2023 may be the most conflictual years since the end of the Cold War for x, y, z reasons.” If you want to use theories such as realism, liberalism or constructivism, please include it in your argument. Use evidence from the readings. This has to be at least 500 words)
