Current Challenges For Canadian Aboriginal People

Aboriginal people play a vital role in Canada’s history and culture. There are three main groups of our country’s indigenous of 1.4 million; the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples. But there are a lot of problems facing our country’s indigenous peoples; some due to the governments budgeting, some due to racism and plenty due to residential schools. Aboriginal woman especially are targeted, causing us to literally have a highway known as the highway of tears; because of the woman who have died there. The Canadian government does not still force people to go through these schools; yet is still setting up the aboriginal community for failure. All the school’s lack funding, High School teachers, or there is no high school at all. Aboriginal woman especially are targeted, causing us to literally have a highway known as the highway of tears; because of the woman who have died there. Here we will talk about some of the issues concerning the indigenous population of Canada.

In the podcast about Alberta Williams, we followed along with an investigative reporters’ investigation of Alberta’s murder, and the cold case it was and still may be. In episode four of the CBC podcast “who killed Alberta Williams,” you learn that her murder may be related directly to residential schools. The government used to force the indigenous children to go to these schools to kill the Indian culture. The Canadian government does not still force people to go through these schools; yet is still setting up the aboriginal community for failure. All the school’s lack funding, High School teachers, or there is no high school at all. Government to setting up the indigenous people for failure through a low-budget School better Homes Canada’s literacy rate are going down due to the treatment and education of aboriginals’ people.

A lot of Aboriginal people deal with racism and the idea that they will never be good enough. This is an idea that was challenged in the novel “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian” when junior or Arnold decided that he wanted a better future and that he was going to school in the small racist Farm Town of Reardan where; “the only other Indian was the school mascot” Arnold was taking a huge chance or risk in an attempt to get hope. Thinking that white people have hope Arnold made his big decision causing him to lose his best friend. Arnold or Junior became a bigger target on the reservation when he made his decision to leave the reservation schools behind. He deals with the teacher who thinks that Arnold is stupid, when he’s not he’s very smart he’s just trying to get hope and have a better future for himself. In the short story panache three men Are also trying to get a better future for themselves by getting a job. They end up being hired by a mine, but as soon as they realize that they are First Nation they are not allowed to do the job they were hired to do. They are given jobs that aren’t necessary or someone else does again anyway while the men like the other men try to get them fired. A man named Gunderson tries to scare Tom pony by backing his truck up too quickly to the pit, but his truck went too far and starts toppling over the edge of the fire pit. Gunderson can’t get free, so Tom Pony gets behind the truck and manages to hold it up for long enough for Gundersen to get free. A few seconds later the truck went over the cliff Taking Tom Pony with it. Gunderson was one of the people trying to get Tom Pony and his friends fired, but he realizes that he was wrong along with the rest of the men. So, all the men pitch in to buy Tom Pony a memorial stone in his honor and even start calling him a hero.

In conclusion, Canada’s Aboriginal people face lots of issues in their everyday lives with gaining an education, murders, residential schools, racism and, not a lot of help from the government. Our country’s native peoples are resilient and most of them want to be better than they can be currently due to money, racism, and not so great schools. Many First Nation women are getting targeted, specifically they are more likely to be murdered, raped, or missing. Many of these women have went missing or been found on the highway of tears.

Self Concept through Prism of Socialization

The question that arose from our discussion concerns whether the concept of self is formed through the interaction with others or if it is solely based on the individual. As we go through life, nothing stays consistent, we come across new situations, we develop and we progress. We learn about other people’s perspective regarding us through the action of meeting and bonding with others that are uniquely different. This in return has an impact regarding how we perceive ourselves and the role of the interpersonal self and the social self. The way society thinks of us and how we think about ourselves are intertwined and that’s what makes up our concept of the self.

To understand this concept, the difference between the interpersonal self and the social self had to be clear. The interpersonal self is oneself occupied with a social contact with someone else. This personal interaction can only be done when there are 2 or more people involved and engaged as this is the meaning of “inter” in the interpersonal self. In relation to the interpersonal self, there is also the social self. The social self is the idea that through interactions people create self images. As we experience different situations and engage with others, we also develop an awareness of the self.

The people we surround ourselves with will have an impact on us whether we are aware of it or not. Communicating with others and being emotionally responsive is not the only way to create an interpersonal self, it is additionally done through the action of encountering and internalizing other individuals perspective about oneself. What other people think of us shape who we are and the way we think and act are greatly influenced by our surroundings containing the social forces. Through this discussion, it was evident that the concept of self cannot be established through isolation. The concept of self discovery is done through the process of realizing how people view you. It is represented through the essential act of people “collecting” information about themselves. It is known that an individual has the automatic action to depend on others to give a social reality, this enables them to figure out what to do, think, and feel. We are known as the interpersonal self and many factors account into who we are as we are connected with the social world around us. For example, when we receive feedback from others regarding how we did, we tend to look upon that and potentially change ourselves. Their responses can impact our self esteem as well as self concept. This cannot be avoided and this interaction helps us become who we are in life.

George Herbert Mead believed other individuals contribute a major role in the way we see ourselves. His perspective on how that may occur differed from what people normally think. Most people believe every single person we encounter throughout our life makes an impact on our identity. On the other hand, Mead believed it was more of a restricted process in terms of certain people and time that could have an impact on the self. In addition, his view focused on how the influence of others has a different impact on us as we grow. Looking into the life stages, babies reside in their own world as they do not care about the perspective of others. Their self concept was based on the concept of an intentional agent where they were able to imitate others. As life progresses, the perspective people have on other individuals matter and is more prominent in one’s life. Their self concept relied more on the concept of a reflective agent where they were able to have beliefs and reflective thoughts. It was also based on the concept of a mental agent where they were able to self regulate dialogue with themselves. This belief leads to the development of the two-part self concept. It involved the balance between both “I” and “me.” The “me” involves how others view me and the “I” represents how I view myself. The concept of “I” and “me” are joined together to produce the concept of self. This is important as we should be aware of how we would want ourselves to be perceived as and how we would like to see ourselves from our own perspective.

In summary, the concept of comprehending ourselves through the way of other individuals adds to the collection revolving around self-hood with another element. The self is said to have significance only in a social setting, and it is right to state that our idea of self and perception are characterized by the social environment. This adds value as it goes beyond the true self and explores the view of ourselves from another individual.

The Aspects Of Redefining Success

Everyone wants to be successful by nature. But what is success? Merriam-Webster defines success as “the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame” Success can be found individually, in groups, in neighborhoods, and as a country. If you truly measure success, monetary wealth may not be the first thing you measure. Measuring possessions would not make the cut either. Besides, you cannot take either of those things with you when you leave this earthly world. You can find success all over the internet with images of rich people and powerful people. The images of what success looks like. Success can take on many forms that do not include wealth or fame, like actions toward others, parenting, and personal accomplishments. Success can be happiness or being considerate. Success can be helpful or caring. Success can even be a person without monetary value that contributes positively to humankind. focuses on people who take full responsibility for their own development and income,’ and provides personal and professional development

What in case success was measured by how you make others feel? Or the values you ingraining in your children? Or perhaps victory may well be measured by how upbeat you are and how frequently you make others upbeat. If you think of success do not think about wealth, or respect, or fame. What comes to people’s minds is Mother Theresa, or Gandhi, or even Ellen DeGeneres and how they lived (or are living in Ellen’s case) their lives. The individuals they full of feeling in a positive light. Success is not measured within the sum of cash or ownership you have got, or how capable or popular you are. It is difficult to measure success.

Success can be measured in many ways that do not have to include wealth or fame. Success can be defined by the good that one does, success can come in the form of a teacher that is compassionate and caring with their students. There are children in the world that the only kind word they may hear all day is from their teacher saying, “This drawing is just perfect!”. Another child could have just lost a parent or a grandparent and begin to exhibit unusual behavior and change from normal previous behavior to perform poorly on schoolwork. A successful teacher would be sensitive to this situation and offer extra time with the student rather than place a huge red “D” on the student’s paper. Success can be realized in so many ways other than status and money.

A father that has successfully raised his children with morals and values would be another way to measure success. The father that takes the time to teach his children about the old saying, “Do onto others as you want to be done to you” would be capturing the teachable moment and lovingly explain why we say that. The adult child that will hold the door at the grocery store for someone carrying heavy bags was brought up by a successful father. The person that will stop when they see someone stranded on the side of the road to offer help was raised by a successful father. These things cannot be measured, but they are hallmarks of a successful father.

The person who may not have much treasure possessions but the success of a popular and desirable is considered. Maybe it is your co-worker who always has a smile and a kind word to brighten your day or the person at your local grocery store who checks you out every time that carefully bags your produce and asks you how your day is. Or someone else working in the neighborhood that stops to talk with the teenager in you and tells a few jokes. People such as these are the kind of people who do not feel obligated to make your day better; they just do.

Success is something that can be achieved over a period, in other words it is based on what everyone perceives as a success, not Merriam-Webster’s literal definition of the word. Each one of us can be successful in our own personal way. Reaching a personal goal or completing a difficult task can be considered a personal success. Obtaining a learn what you want and get a job is also considered, a success, along with being perfectly content with the life you have built. Success is accomplishing the goal you have set for yourself which is why it is subjective. No one can succeed beyond anyone else, just not in the defined way of Merriam-Webster

If you have ever planned to finish a project or study for a test or even took the time to teach your child about right and wrong; you are a success. Can you measure something that is not measurable? Success cannot be compared to your next-door neighbor, your sister, your co-worker, or even your spouse. Success is within us when we set out to do something and achieve it. Successful people are those that can find joy in their life, and maybe that means someone who is not rich or powerful or even famous. Maybe, just maybe that means you.

Society Degradation – From George Grosz To Leon Golub

Introduction

Society degradation it means lack of compassion, immorality, unethically, loss of self-respect and to others. Through the prism XX – XXI century of New Objectivity movement, historical – world wars, mass media, propaganda, bad education, lack of reading, consumption as well as hypocrisy.

“In the countries of Central and Southern Europe, the decline in reading is drastic, mainly Greece, Hungary and Italy. Is it a coincidence that in these countries extreme nationalist movements are growing inversely in proportion to the decline in readership ?! What does this mean? Who am I talking to? Where are my viewers? I do a complicated art that can be read by just a promil of society? And how is it to my responsibility? What has been neglected? I will never get a precise answer to these questions…” – Krzysztof Warlikowski

Context

New objectivity as a ‘contemporary’ art in the Nazis Germany (between 1923-1933). Divided into five different thematic groups that deal with conflicting and competitive approaches, As opponents of abstractionism as well as advocates of ‘new realism’, artists applied their style in the violent and briskly changing times of German Weimar. Some works by artists (like George Grosz) draw the viewer’s attention to political and national evil; Others depict it as melancholy or longing for the past, others focused on portraying people and objects, interpreted by them on unchanging surfaces and illusively stopped in time. The severity of’ the New Objectivity’ express cruelty also savagery of the historical moment; The activity of artists to reveal the vehemence as well as criticality that enveloped them.

The alienated world of the 20th century ‘from the idealism and utopianism‘ that outlined in earliest ten years as well as discontent with the war, which made degradation of society, artists related with ’Neue Sachlichkeit’ introduced sober naturalism, devoted to ‘contemporary’ Weimar (in cities like Berlin, Dresden, Karlsruhe, Colony, Dusseldorf, Hannover, Munich) Art. However artists were amazed of depravity in the Republic of Weimar, but in spite of this fact stunned by some kind new ‘liberation’ and also freedom; This multifaceted organization of artists did not quite have their common approach, but kindly obliged to unveil the neutral truth fundamental for the ‘modern’ disorders. Using satirises, the society’s ‘caricature’, grotesqueness and even surrealism (magical realism), artists such as Otto Dix, Max Beckmann, George Grosz or Christian Schad; Depicted officials, figureheads, clergy, superiors , workers and themselves, ruthlessly, with every co-responsible inhabitant of their societies. The artists underlined the social and political chaos of life, exaggerated by war veterans, paupers and prostitutes.

The movement ended in 1933. At the same time, the Nazis took power and the fall of the ‘Weimar Republic’. Taking over the position of German Chancellor Adolf Hitler in January 1933.It contributed to the premature termination of the New Objectivity. Many artists and works of art became inconvenient for The Cultural Ministry of Hitler’s Third Reich, announced them as ‘degenerated’, and a large part of the works of New Objectivity was devastated or lost (in the years’ 33 -’45).Today’s view of the New Objectivity is unfortunately only partial, nonetheless it gives two extraordinary possibilities; snapshot of German nation as well as artistic avant-garde between the two world wars.

Grosz is the outstanding artist connected with the movement of Neue Sachlichkeit like Max Beckmann, Herbert Bottger and Otto Dix; The artists were earlier expressionists, cubists, futurists and Dadaists. As a warrior after seeing the nightmares of war , George Grosz presented and engaged his disgust towards the Weimar post-war community. Deeply involved in the activities of the leftists, actively participating in demonstrations and collective fusses, posting graphics in demanding and ironical journals. His work from the post-war time dashingly interprets what Grosz perceived as the degeneration of public. Immediately before the Third Reich claimed power, George Grosz moved to the United States to educate Fine Arts, accordingly avoiding harassment as well as discrimination from the part of Nazi Germany when his work was considered ‘degenerated’. He gave up the hope in the human race also his latest manner dramatically transformed , the transition from political art through the horrors of war, to the parodies of the residents of New York and its ‘sweet’ sceneries.

Despite the traumatic background that led him to fight in opposition of conflict, degeneration and what he considered unethical, he began to co-create a especially influential and irremovable aesthetic heritage. In Republic , his creativeness – as a motif of revolution; It played a provocative overall role in the community , in fact local authorities brutality. “The day will come when the artist will not be a Bohemian, an inflated anarchist, but a healthy man working consciously in a collectivist society.” – G. Grosz ( page 164 )

The hopeless state of the post-war world depicted by the Grosz; He proved so good in this unpleasant fact that he presented the average German citizen as businessmen, leaders, clergymen, with stiff shoulders, faces; The so-called ‘Grosz types”, his creativity and personality became the target of attacks on his own life ;Even if he painted, he was primarily a draftsman, depicting various aspects of urban hell, resulting not only from undisclosed ‘creators’ of public places, but from Dadaism and futurism.

Afterwards his debut, George Grosz developed the creation of significant oil performances, of which one of the most unique and anarchic was – Funeral: Trirbute To Oskar Panizza (above). The image represents a spectral procession that apparently falls down through a gorge of buildings that are disappearing, with the dynamism and simultaneity of chronological events; Which outlines the dense collage methodology that draws from cubism and futurism. Turbulent, distorted, chaotic column of the figure, painted in shades of red and black, which is an another artist’s alternative of the hellish abyss, between uncertainly inclined buildings; It add the feeling of claustrophobia to the viewer; The multilayered presentation of the stage is compact in one space. The only object that is a glaring opposition to this chaos of faces and masks, limbs and objects; There is a very bright white (small) cross in the hands of a caricature priest. Crucifix, which carries a man, judging by the gesture of helplessness of the priest, does not give consolation. The artist should be credited with historical achievements and struggles with the historical events of the twenties and the reality of the Weimar Republic, at the time so unstable and uncertain. ‘In a strange street by night, a hellish procession of dehumanized figures mills, their faces reflecting alcohol, syphilis, plague … I painted this protest against a humanity that had gone insane.” – ( George Grosz, sources Wikipedia)

The painting titled The Pillars of Society (above); This is a representation of the German elites (which protégé fascism) in a deeply satirical and grotesque manner. Like many of his paintings from that period, he was sarcastic and mocked, as he claimed to be a dishonest and dishonourable society of the then Weimar. Grosz as a great draftsman and parodist, he uses his proficiency to recreate the image of these people – ‘controlling society’ and their grotesqueness and monstrosity. The elite, that is, entrepreneurs, clerics, generals are not presented as dignified, moral, aside from as false, egoistic and also unjust people.

George Grosz a decisive figure of the New Objectivity, which demonstrated the apathy and hypocrisy of the interwar period; a draconian parody used by the artist to show the real faces of demoralization. The Pillars of Society, the title of the picture, comes from a game called Henrik Ibsen. The painting we see (above) portray four major individualities. The first plan shows us an old rich man, with a swastika in his tie along a head full of turmoil and a visible scar on his (rosy) cheek. He holds a beer in his left hand and something like a sabre in his right hand. We can hardly see his eyes, brain is open and everything seems to ‘rise up from it” (black horse rider). In the background we can see two sit men’s (probably some leaders) ; On the Right man has opened brain, filled with faeces, his holding a flag and leaflet with text which define ‘Socialism must work’; However on the left; man holding a newspapers under his arm and palm branch (possibly bloody),on his head we see gigantic ‘cup’.

Behind we see a fourth personality, a priest, vain figure. Supporting the Nazis and blessing the inhuman actions of the army. The image is generally chaotic, the figures are cool and stiff. Fire and smog come out of the windows of buildings. The artist believed that all the guidelines and manner of acting of politicians, resulted from the media, army and church. “Grosz’s penetrating, darkly humorous style of drawing and his use of satire as a weapon left a deep impression on the work of his contemporaries and the artists of the next generation. His photomontage work set a standard for social critique in the new medium and inspired the later collages of Romare Bearden. The critical content of his paintings influenced painter Francis Bacon, while his elaborately detailed and unflinchingly honest portraits influenced Lucien Freud’s portrait work.” (Johnathan5458 ,sources MyDailyArtDisplay)

Furthermore, there is clear evidence to suggest that Grosz has giant impact for evolution of portraits and political art. Perhaps it did not have a direct impact for the work of the Leon Golub, besides they had many common features such as portraying political criminals, leaders, clerics and others

Leon Albert Golub was one of the major American artists in the late XX century. His large-format, figurative paintings (inspired by Hellenistic figures and contemporary sources material alike; news stories from popular media, as well as ancient Greek art); with a powerful political and social message. Artist paintings disclose concerns of conflicts and struggle particularly in times of Vietnam War. ’Neue Sachlichkeit’ artists had big impact for Leon Golub creations. Moreover, revealed similar social and political dramas; had same reactions for brutality, immorality, degeneration around people. As son of immigrants from Eastern Europe, Golub was extremely inspired by European figurative painting .

His approached in painting was connected with layering technique, scratching as well as leaving blank and as Jon Bird said (about portraits of artist ): “an absence of background so the figure exists in ambiguous non-space; scraped pigment embedding the image in the surface ,reducing depth and convening the impression of temporal weathering (besides media references, Golub was fascinated by the worn look of Roman portrait heads);” (source Jon Bird, page 78)

Portraits in the Western tradition always played major role; From Ancient times , the artists tried to capture the characteristic features person, they tried to; embellished, simplified, modified. From the beginning, portrait served to present exceptional human qualities based on their achievements; Task was to keep in mind the contemporary and descendants of what was a particular result of the actions of the person portrayed. However, it is not easy to capture the character of a man in one work. Golub’s portraits, evoke specific emotions and can be a reflection of interpersonal relationships and character traits.

How to reach the ‘real’ inner of the portrayed person? Should it be stripped of masks taken for the needs of multiple roles played in particular situations of life? Was is in the end possible for the artist ?

The Political Portraits, series of produced between 1976 and 1978. It is large number representations of individualities (religious leaders, dictators, militaries or leaders from Asia and Central America); Can be understood as criticisms of political brutality and violence. Leon Golub idealizes, glorifies a man, captures him as a ‘hero’, but at the same time it show his fragility sensitivity, mortality.

General Francisco Franco was born 1892. Becoming the youngest European general at the age 34. He was one of the leaders of the military coup against the Republican authorities of Spain, which led to a three-year, victorious civil war (1936-1939). Leader of the Spanish Phalanx, which from 1937 was the official ruling party. From 1938, the head of government. He introduced a dictatorship implementing fascinating postulates and cooperating with the Reich ruled by Adolf Hitler. Like the Nazis, he created concentration camps. ‘Golub said of this work and others from the same series, ‘ ‘I think of the political portraits as skins or masks’. ‘ He wants to reveal that to take hold of power is little more than an illusion.’ (source website: Artstory)

The artist used mass media material – like newspapers, magazines (Time, Newsweek) as an important point to confront the political reality. Images of people who once were ‘run the world’ were not painted from nature but rendered .

Franco’s face, his characteristics and skin tone, give us a realistic reflection of the dictator. In both cases, his profile; (As a younger one he seems to be surprised, unconscious); As an old man, he expresses a certain surprise, as if he were not present anymore. As Jon Bird said: ”Golub selects moments from the dictators 36 year period in power, recording the historical breadth of his regin, from smug self – confidence to deathly countenance, a play upon the vanitas theme:” ( source Jon Bird, page 56) That series of Political Portraits, it is about the degeneration of the hierarchy of the world, about the ‘powerful’ people who rule us, who direct our morality, our consciences, who serve us propaganda.

Watching Golub, his work is just as valid in ‘Trump America’ as in America’s difficult 1960s and 1970s. America is as much racist, gender and religious divided, but it is also still involved in all global conflicts.

The Significance Of Self-Reliance in The Modern World

In this world, where every other person is tech-savy, people tend to blindly trust their mobile ‘robots’ for almost every information they are required to have. Assuming that reliance on people has been diminished, implying to the fact, that now, they are ‘self reliant’. This is a complete myth. Self reliance includes the use and believe in one’s own resources and hardwork for living. But now, technology is not included in ‘others’ as everyone has their individual access to it, making them believe that its a part of them.

The whole purpose of the concept of self reliance is to make a person independent and to induce a sense of being a whole from within. Now self reliance is not just required in day to day activities, it is required for increasing the role of one’s own mind and body to fulfil the function of living at the optimum level. The issues that many people face that draws them away from self reliance is a need for company, which comes from the famous acronym FOMO, that is, fear of missing out. The social life is given more importance these days than one’s personal life. People, in an attempt to be with people, require more people and forget their own selves. This dependence on social groups make people get blind sighted for what is in them. So, to deal with life, self reliance is over shadowed by dependence on others. Thereby, adopting ideas from others and taking help from others makes people weak enough to get through their lives. This signifies the need to be self reliant.

‘Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.’ This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson is ironically famous in Instagram captions of people who desperately seek for other people to make their life happening. From here, one should understand that to experience life, one should experience all hardships and the good days by their own self. For being ‘themself’, people need to be independent of other people and of course, the technology. Success might not get in their steps always, but life will be experienced in a better way. Self reliance can therefore, teach everyone, how to live by themselves. This might make life edgy, but it will certainly make one powerful in different ways.

Robots Vs Humans: Essay

In the pursuit of the perfect world, where everyone will be happy with smart technologies because machines will do all the hard work instead of us, we risk complicating our lives. As you have noticed, robots are already around us. We order food through applications, fly on aircraft with the autopilot system. Our phone knows more about our lives than we can remember, and Facebook recognizes the faces of random passers-by from the photos that we put into the network. We are even operated by robots; children play with drones. There is no problem, that robots already defeat people in chess, the real problem is much broader – the improvement of robots and machine learning algorithms changes the labor market, and in that case many jobs are very likely to be automated and as a consequence, many people will lose their workplaces. Moreover, robots can get out of control and kill people, because they are better than us. All that I have said before are undergrounded, fanciful fears that have no connection with the real situation with smart machines. So, the main question of my essay is: ‘Is there a possibility that robots can completely replace humans?’. Why do I think like that? I have three main arguments.

First, computers are totally under the control of people and there is no chance to lose control of them. Ordinary people are concerned about the growing trend in automation and afraid that robots will rise in rebellion against humanity. But it is a completely baseless fear. Robots are only tools in the hands of humans. We force them to work by giving smart machines the right instructions. The idea that robots will defeat people is incredibly silly right now. Sometimes humanity is very naive in our attempts to be equal with God. We think that our creature – a smart machine is better than God`s creature – human. But robots haven`t their own intelligence, they are deprived of creative thinking, intuition, and feelings. Moreover, every robot is specialized in some small field. So, robots can`t exist without humans` maintain and do their work without exact algorithms, that we also create for them. That`s why it is absurd to think that a piece of iron, that was created by people and works on exact algorithms can plan a rebellion and even more – defeat smart independent, critical thinking humans, created by God.

The second great fear about robots is that smart machines will take over human jobs. Pessimists think that robot engineers, robot actors, and robot lawyers will replace human experts in the near future. Of course, technology will replace many jobs – it has always done so. But such intellectual jobs as journalists, doctors and lawyers will be never replaced by machines, because they can do just simple repeatable work and will never establish trust with a person, be creative and inventive. At the same time, we cannot predict the numbers of new jobs/careers that new technology will create. Even today, there are a huge number of technology jobs that did not exist ten years ago: state-of-the-art programming, data science, web security, marketing and sales. There is no reason to believe that the need for humans to create and manage new technology will decrease.

And third, computers were created to help people and it is their main purpose. Smart machines such as MRI machine and x-ray machine and others help a person with chronic illness to survive. Also, robots can work in dangerous places, for instance, on the depth or explore space and areas of the universe that aren’t practical for human exploration. Every day we face with robots that simplify our lives.

Thus, our fears have no grounds. Robots are our friends. They make our existing easier and create new opportunities to develop. If we continue to think that smart machines are bad and dangerous for humans existing, we just will not differ from the Middle Ages, where all progress was stopped and people lived in permanent fear of death because of the inventing something new.

Necessity of Work

What is work? Is work necessary? Is it a duty, a socially acceptable behavior, or a natural predisposition. The debate of the meaning of work stems from an argument on whether work was degrading or elevating. Is work a restraint on people’s capacities of freedom, according to Herbert Marcuse’s argument in ‘Eros and Civilization’ or has work, as Daniel Bell wrote in his book ‘The End of Ideology’, “always stood in the center of moral consciousness” (Wolfe, 1996)? I side with Daniel Bell as work should be celebrated for its encouragement of discipline and moral fulfillment.

One of the most important reasons why working is valuable is that it instills discipline. Many modern conservatives see the value of work. They view welfare as something that causes dependency whereas working allows economic independence. Welfare recipients are denied the discipline that comes with meeting deadlines, production schedules, and knowing the expectations of those they work for. Everything is essentially given on a silver platter if one does not work.

Another reason why people work is that it provides a definition of self if they were to denounce work, they would render a significant portion of their lives meaningless. Sociologists like Max Weber have argued that humans are moral creatures in the sense that they do not just act but they also give an account of their actions. In his book ‘Poor Richard’s Principle’ Robert Wuthnow relies on 200 interviews and 2,000 other working Americans to discover if they had found at least an ounce of moral meaning in their work. The average response was positive. Wuthnow argues that people not only just work for money, but also “to give legitimate account for themselves”.

One can argue against and dismiss the belief in the importance of work by saying that it is a ‘false consciousness’ or something along the lines of that. They can’t grasp the notion of how working is meant for them. Robert Lane (1991) in his book ‘The Market Place’ argued that there is little support for the idea of work is degrading. Work is one of the places people can learn about not only the job but the wide world outside of it. Work increases our moral responsibility, however, the problem, noted by Lane is that there are not enough jobs in the market place that challenge the aspirations of workers. More jobs should be open to increasing our ‘cognitive complexity’, and personal competence.

To conclude, work is a necessity. Not only because of reasons like earning money but for discipline, a sense of self and increasing our cognitive complexity. Remember, if you haven’t worked for something, you haven’t earned it.

Who Are the Most Powerful People: Persuasive Essay

Who is the most powerful people? To answer this question, we need to look at the real life between those who are always behind the door without a word, and their opinions are considered calm and quite, and between those who always speak and want to stand out. Quiet people are everywhere, from the kid taking notes in class to the party guest standing in the corner. Of course, loud people get a lot of attention – you can’t help but pay attention to the loudest person in the room. However, quiet people are often pegged as shy, uninteresting – maybe even not that bright. They may not speak, but they remain silent, listen and absorb things around life. From ‘To Kill the Mocking Bird’ you can see Atticus Finch and Arthur (Boo) Radley were one of the quite persons, but yet most powerful in terms of solutions and ideas.

The quietest people do not less speak, but they act more, but sometimes the silent ones are the ones who always make people around and misunderstand them. As a famous astronomer has said: “Quiet people have the loudest minds”. They do not speak out because they think so, and they always listen. There may be a hypothesis that quiet persons do not want to say because they fear others may understand what they think and reveal defects they do not want others to catch up on their problems. As in the story ‘To Kill the Mocking Bird’, Arthur (Boo) Radley known as the person is creepy and less talking in story, just come out at night. But it was Boo who took the blanket over Scout, and also Boo was against Bob Ewell to save Scout and Jem from the conflict, and was put into a tree near the house of precious objects. On the outside, Boo Radley was a scared man in Maycomb, but inside he is nice person and don’t want to talk because he fears about life after the door.

The society today thinks most quiet people are less intellectual, so Harper Lee inserted in the story ‘To Kill the Mocking Bird’ such persons to emphasize that the silent character in the story is the strongest character and to prove that they are wrong. Atticus Finch and Arthur Radley were the most powerful characters in the novel, but people in the Maycomb didn’t really know about them. For example, in Chapter 11, Harper Lee shows many descriptions to Atticus Finch. Even he is not really involved in the community, she uses this quote: “I certainly am. I do my best to love everybody…I’m hard put, sometimes – it’s never an insuit is a bad name. It just shows how poor that person is, it doesn’t hurt you” (H. Lee, 11). In novel, we rarely hear about, but yet he is one of the most powerful persons. According to Jem Finch, Boo Radley stays in his house because he wants to stay out of the mess of humanity. One of the heroic moments of Boo Radley is when he saved Scout and Jem from the abuse attack of Bob Ewell. With such people, at first it is very scary and very mysterious, but then the person is admirable and admirable in the story because action is always better than words.

But the quietest people not stop at ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’, but also in today’s life when we are living a digital life is when people can talk easily but there are quietest people who use it to study and use it as tools. Like Bill Gates. Bill believed in achieving his goals through hard work. He also believes that if you are intelligent and know how to use your intelligence, you can reach your goals and targets. From his early days, Bill was ambitious, competitive and intelligent. These qualities helped him to attain great position in the profession. In addition, Bill was deemed by his peers and his teachers as the smartest kid, but the shyest on campus. Also, Bill has a great achievement in Microsoft, which he founded, and his vision is: “A computer on every desk and Microsoft software on every computer” (Lexile). Bill is a visionary person and work very hard to achieve his vison. His belief in high intelligence and hard work has put him where he is today. He is very successful not because of fame, but because of his hard work. This thing shows that Bill not use words, but actions, to work very hard in Microsoft and to bring the company to the growth of the population at this time.

Not only Bill Gates, but also at school, with friends and family. When mother see you grow up every time, she always happy and proud in quietest most of time. Your mom always protects you and takes care about you, but doesn’t say it too loudly, she is powerful in quiet. There are people who are silenced because they fight for human rights and freedom, because the government always gives them a threat to the regime, and they are covered by the government and become silent, but deep in it. Their mind is a struggle that cannot be quenched. According to all this, we see that the quietest people are not the quietest, they just want to think and because of the situations that make them become the quietest.

Shy and quiet people shouldn’t worry about what their friends think about them and just be positive and always use your strength. They are known for building self-esteem, which is an excellent strength. Never judge people by their look.

The Sound of the Trees, and the Noise of the People

Robert Frost was a prolific American poet born on March 26, 1874, in San Francisco. Although he holds the absolute record for the number of Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry awarded to a single person, Frost struggled to find any recognition in his early years. In fact, he had to work at a farm for some time just to support his family. In 1912, Frost moved to England, where he published two books and pivoted his career, making the shift from living as a penniless artist to being a literature icon. After his return to the United States, the publishers that used to dismiss him were now fighting to work with Frost.

I have chosen the poem The Sound of the Trees for this essay, and here is its literal meaning. The author talks about the sounds that trees make and how we always listen to that noise. The trees keep talking about leaving, but they never do, because their roots keep them anchored firmly to the ground. However, their noise does have an effect on the people that come close. In the end, the author himself decides to depart, saying, “I shall have less to say, but I shall be gone,” he declares his intention to carry out the plan without unnecessary noise (Frost 115). It seems that this poem is close to Frost, as he had to move many times throughout the course of his life.

My personal attachment to this poem comes from the variety of interpretations it can have, and the way all of them relate to a real experience from my life. The literal, narrowest interpretation is already very descriptive of many people I have met. These people are unhappy with their position in life and want to leave it for good, but are unable to do so for certain reasons. Instead of solving their problems or accepting the present situation, they complain and spread negativity.

Then their words make other people feel tempted to change their life in a radical way, and some of them might be able to do it. What these people do not realize, however, is that it is not their own dissatisfaction with life that drives their decisions, but the discomfort of those who surround them. Like in the poem, fleeing from such people without engaging in unproductive verbal interpretation is the best solution.

The other interpretation is broader but follows the same theme. Almost every person has made some sort of public resolution like abandoning a bad habit or starting to play a sport. Most people who make such a significant decision would tell as many people as they can about it, getting a substantial amount of instant gratification from their approval. The problem is that many of them find themselves satisfied enough after just talking, so they gradually abandon their grandiose plans. Once again, the two final lines of the poem show that acting without speaking is the best way out of this situation.

In conclusion, The Sound of the Trees by Robert Frost is a remarkable illustration of the potentially dangerous tendencies inherent to so many people. Realizing these weaknesses is the first step in eliminating them, and this poem can certainly help achieve that. Finally, once the issues become apparent, it is vital to act to solve them, instead of plunging into lengthy discussions about how terrible they are.

Summer Vs Winter: Compare and Contrast Essay

Why would somebody want to be playing in the freezing, blistering cold, when they could be relaxing on a beach in summer? I have concluded that people who enjoy winter are ruder, and more boring than people who enjoy summer.

Summer people are not just people who do not care about anything, and want to party all the time. They are easygoing, fun people who want to escape the realities of the cold, harsh winter. Summer people know how to have a good time, and enjoy their lives.

Summer people are too happy. They escape the harsh realities of school and work by relaxing all day. In summer people go on vacation to warm, tropical places and relax by sunbathing on white sandy beaches, with the bright sun rays gleaming down on them, and the sun reflecting across the crystal clear water. They spend all day playing beach volleyball, surfing, and spending quality time with lots of friends and family that they never get to see. They then go snorkeling and scuba diving and see the water filled with bright, wonderful species of fish, and coral, while the sunlight is beaming down on the water revealing the ecosystem of the ocean teeming with life. When the day is over summer people go to sleep filled with happy thoughts, dreaming of what their next adventure will hold. Summer people are not too happy, they are simply the right amount of happiness.

Summer people talk too much. Having a conversation with a summer person is sure to leave everyone feeling happy, and lively all day. They want to know every little detail in everyone’s life such as how the family is doing, how the new job is going, or the family pets are doing. They will ask for all the kid’s school pictures, and team sports photos. They will be extremely friendly and supportive towards whoever they are talking to. They will talk on and on forever but that is just how a summer person is.

Summer people are better drivers. People who enjoy summer drives around with their friends, with their music blaring, singing along to it. They are courteous on the road and let people go before them, they always stop at intersections, and always come to a complete stop for three seconds at stop signs. They keep the road safe and make driving more enjoyable. On long road trips, they always pack lots of snacks and make every second fun even if it is an extremely long drive.

For these reasons and more Summer people are big-hearted people who strive to be the best they can be, and more. They always know how to have fun, never having a boring day in their lives. They are always kind to everyone and go out of their way to learn about everyone and help everybody feel loved and special.

Winter people do not know how to have fun. They sit inside all day with a steaming cup of hot cocoa and read boring magazines about politics, news, and nonsense. They walk outside to get the mail and are met by a chilling breeze that makes their bones shiver, then they go back inside to go to bed and wake up realizing, the day is over and nothing at all has been accomplished. They live boring lives and do not know how to escape the wrath of the dreaded months of winter.

Winter people are rude. don’t ever try to have a conversation with someone who is a winter person because, the response will be a brusque, rude one. They will discuss all their problem such as how they have too much work to get done, how they have to walk their dogs, how they have too many errands to run, and how they are constantly bored in life. Their negativity will spread around and make everybody feel gloomy and depressed, so having a conversation with a winter person is not highly recommended.

Winter people are extremely violent on the road. Winter people always drive over the speed limit, honk their horns at everyone, and are impatient. If there is a red light they will run it and not care. They always get tickets and have probably caused lots of problems on the roads. They have been involved in many accidents in their driving career and do not mind it.

As all of these points and more show winter people are cold at heart, rude, and boring. They do not strive to help others, they do not care about having fun and have dull, boring personalities. Even if the snow is glistening in the long cold winter months, winter people only complain, and are rude all month.
