Overview As a graphic designer, you realize that the visual design of your portfolio site is extremely important. One of the most critical visual content pieces of a website is the hero image on the Home page. It’s the first thing your visitors will see, and it sets the tone for their entire experience. You can choose to use a single image or multiple images and graphics to create components like a collage or carousel for the hero image area of your portfolio site. In addition, you will also need to create some images and graphics that you can use in other areas of the portfolio site. For example, you may want to use a different hero image for different pages, or you may want some graphics and icons to use in the body of the webpages. You can create and use various types of images and graphics for your portfolio site, such as photos, previous design work, abstract images, background images, patterns, and so forth. However, keep in mind that any visual content you create for your portfolio site should reflect your values, skills, and personality as a designer. In this activity, you will create visual content for your portfolio site. You will add these images and graphics to your portfolio site in later modules to help complete the project in Module Seven. Directions Create visual content you want to include on your portfolio site using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. Your content should meet the specifications for the theme you activated for your portfolio site in Module Two. Also, explain where you will use this content and your design rationale in a short paper to address criteria 4 and 5 below. Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria: 1. Create a hero image to include in the header of your portfolio site’s Home page. A. Consider the header image specifications for the theme you selected (size and orientation). B. Consider the purpose and theme of your portfolio site. C. You can use a single image or include multiple images in the form of a collage, slider, carousel, and so on. 2. Create at least three additional images or graphics you can use on your portfolio site. A. You can choose to create: i. Professional photo or an image that represents you ii. Header image(s) for the other pages in your portfolio site iii. Icons iv. Other images or graphics you plan to use in the body of the pages B. Consider the following when you create the images: i. Do these graphics and images appropriately represent you and your design work? ii. What do these graphics and images say about you as a designer? 3. Optimize all images and graphics appropriately so they are web-ready. Consider their size, orientation, and resolution to fit your selected theme. 4. Determine how you will use each of these images and graphics on your portfolio site. A. Include the name and the header image requirements of the theme you selected in Module Two. B. Identify the page(s) they will be used on. C. Identify where and how they will be placed, such as a profile photo for the body of the About Me page. 5. Explain your design rationale for creating each of these images and graphics. A. Explain your reasoning for choosing the image(s) you used to create the hero image. B. Explain what the different images and graphics you created say about you as a graphic designer. Note: You will need to provide attribution for any icons, photos, or other images you use in this assignment. Refer to the Openly Licensed Images area of your course for more information on how to provide attribution. What to Submit Package all the deliverables into a single ZIP file. This file should include the images and graphics you created in JPG form. Also, include your completed short paper as a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Cite your sources according to MLA style.

Your Own Modest Proposal Five-Paragraph Essay After reading Jonathan Swift’s “A

Your Own Modest Proposal Five-Paragraph Essay After reading Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal,” write your own half-serious satirical solution to a problem in modern American society. Some specifics:Your final product should be at least five paragraphs long. It should have a structure similar to Swift’s essay, should contain a similarly sarcastic tone, and should implement some (if not all) of the four major satirical techniques: exaggeration, incongruity, parody, and reversal. Recommended Process: Read and analyze Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal.” Note the structure and tone of the essay, as well as Swift’s use of satirical techniques.2. Brainstorm societal problems that you might want to address (i.e. the famine in Ireland, which Swift addresses). Your problem should be something that impacts our nation’s society as a whole.3. Outline and write your essay. You may feel free to add additional paragraphs where appropriate, but your essay should follow the basic model below: a. 25-30 word subtitle. Your essay should be called “A Modest Proposal,” but the subtitle should flesh out what societal problem you are trying to solve (without giving away your “shocking” element). (Swift’s full title is “A Modest Proposal for Preventing the Children of Poor People in Ireland from Being a Burden to Their Parents or Country, and for Making Them Beneficial to the Public.”) b. Paragraph 1: A clear first paragraph that contains an indelible image of your societal problem. (Swift’s image in his first paragraph is that of the mother with six children dressed in rags begging for alms. Try to include an image of your problem that elicits the readers’ sympathies in a similar way.) c. Paragraph 2: A paragraph description of your shocking solution. (This is like the paragraph in which Swift talks “delicious and nourishing” babies.) d. Paragraph 3: A list of six clearly labeled “logical reasons” for why your solution would work. (Label your sentences “firstly,” “secondly,” “thirdly,” as Swift does.) e. Paragraph 4: An italicized paragraph describing your response to the opposition’s argument. (Note Swift’s italicized paragraphs for guidance on this.) f. Paragraph 5: Conclusion.

State and local health agencies are not the only governmental organizations work

State and local health agencies are not the only governmental organizations working to reduce the burden of disease and ill health in society. Federal, state, and local government all play important roles through agencies that are better known for other responsibilities, such as law enforcement and transportation. The complexities of government and its various agencies add an essential, but not necessarily the most important, dimension to public health practice. The prevention of motor vehicle-related injuries is a prime example of a situation in which multiple agencies, and not just those that are health related, have a shared responsibility. Using the readings for the week, the South University online library, and the Internet, write a 3–5-page paper. Cover the following: For the prevention of motor vehicle-related injuries, provide an analysis of how responsibilities are assigned or delegated among the following: The three levels of government: federal, state, and local Various agencies of those levels of government Write a 3-5 page paper discussing how the public health system is set-up in the U.S. Include a discussion on: the main public health functions of state health departments, how are state health departments structured, Does their structure affect the role they play in public health?
