Macrosystem
Macrosystems are larger health systems that are composed of smaller systems. Macrosystems contain meso- and microsystems. Examples of macrosystems include large healthcare organizations, communities, regulatory agencies, and governments.
Mesosystem
The mesosystem is composed of microsystems and is the middle level of the system, which serves as the interface between the microsystem and the macrosystem.
Microsystem
The microsystem setting is the point of care. For many, the microsystem is the most familiar level where patients, staff, information, and equipment converge to provide care. Clinical microsystems carry out the day-to-day work within an organization. Examples of microsystems include hospital units, primary care practices, or specialty teams.
