Read the following paragraph from an essay by Emily Poe, a student at Furman Uni

Read the following paragraph from an essay by Emily Poe, a student at Furman University. Disregarding for a moment what Poe says, focus your attention on the phrases she uses to structure what she says (bolded here). Then write a new paragraph using Poe’s as a model but replacing her topic, vegetarianism, with one of your own.
The term “vegetarian” tends to be synonymous with “tree-hugger” in many people’s minds. They see vegetarianism as a cult that brainwashes its followers into eliminating an essential part of their daily diets for an abstract goal of “animal welfare.” However, few vegetarians choose their lifestyle just to follow the crowd. On the contrary, many of these supposedly brainwashed people are actually independent thinkers, concerned citizens, and compassionate human beings. For the truth is that there are many very good reasons for giving up meat. Perhaps the best reasons are to improve the environment, to encourage humane treatment of livestock, or to enhance one’s own health. In this essay, then, closely examining a vegetarian diet as compared to a meat-eater’s diet will show that vegetarianism in clearly the better option for sustaining the Earth and all its inhabitants.

Using the Nutrition Facts Label found in the Learn Section, evaluate with the following prompts and discuss:
Into which food group(s) of MyPlate (Chapter 2.4) would you place this food item? (HINT: look at the ingredient list)
Using Appendix C: Dietary Guidelines, does this food item contribute toward these guidelines? If yes, how?
Based on what this food item is, are there some key nutrients that should be evaluated in more depth? For example: fiber & sugar provisions for a Grain, fat and calcium provision for Dairy, etc. If yes, what are these nutrients?
Using Appendix H: Food and Supplement Labels, does this product meet any of the Nutrient Content Descriptors (Table H2)? If yes, which nutrient(s) meet which descriptors?
Nutrient Density is rated as being low, moderate, or high. How would you rate this item? Briefly explain why.
Too boost overall nourishment, what would you consume along with this item or as a replacement for this item?
The thread portion should be around 300 words. Use your textbook to aid in analyzing these questions.
The student will complete 2 Discussions in this course. The student will post one thread of at
least 300-400 words by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday of the assigned Module: Week. The student
must then post 2 replies of at least 150-200 words by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of the assigned
Module: Week. For each thread, students must support their assertions with at least 1 scholarly
citation in APA format. Each reply must incorporate at least 1 scholarly citation(s) in APA
format. Any sources cited must have been published within the last five years. Acceptable
sources include the textbook, the Bible, websites, and peer-reviewed journals.
After studying MyPlate and its recommendations of the dietary guidelines and examiningt he ingredients list from the selected food item I would place the Quaker Instant Oatmeal cups under the grain category. The MyPlate helps divide foods into groups based on the nutrients they supply as well as illustrate the appropriate proportions of foods from each food group which help promote health (Grosvenor et al., 2021). One of the main ingredients found in the Quaker InstantOatmeal is whole grain oats, this alone contributes to almost all the dietary guidelines. QuakerOats can provide many nutritious sources for babies such as healthy fats, fiber, and protein. Thisfood supplies essential vitamins and minerals for a well-balanced diet at any age. The addedsugars might be the only negative factor as it is above the 10 percent daily limit for children younger than two.
Some of the key nutrients that should be evaluated in more depth are the total sugars as itconsists of 11 grams with 8 grams of added sugars, this alone goes above the recommendedlimit. This product can meet the low or healthy category of the Nutrient Content Descriptors as itdoes not exceed the daily value for fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, or calories. It is low onfat containing 3 grams or less per serving and it is low on cholesterol. The nutrient density inQuaker Instant Oatmeal would score moderate or high as they are rich in protein and fiber aswell as fat. To boost overall nourishment, I would consume a side of fresh fruit or replace thisitem for plain oatmeal mixed with blueberries and bananas as this would be a healthier optionwith no added sugars aside from the daily intake from a fresh healthy balanced diet. Natural sugar is digested slower and keeps metabolism slable.

For this assignment, you will be searching for fraudulent nutrition claims in a variety of locations. You may choose to surf the Internet, looking for vitamins or other nutrition products that seem suspicious to you. Or, you may review a publication instead of an actual product if you wish. Other potential sources include a health food store where nutritional products are sold, or a bookstore selling nutrition quackery publications. You can consider such products as: Metabolife, Ephedra, Noni Juice, Juice Plus supplements, etc. just to give you some ideas of the types of products out there. Be sure to look for unbiased reviews of these products from credible individuals or organizations.

I would prefer that you NOT review a diet or a vitamin supplement, since you will be doing that in a later assignment. If you have any questions about the product you’d like to review.
You can use this link http://www.sparkpeople.com/blog/blog.asp?post=the_worst_diet_scams_of_2011
Once you’ve selected your item, you will research it and then write a paper explaining why you think it represents nutrition quackery. What kind of claims does this product/publication make? Do they sound reasonable? What is the price of the product/publication? Are there any disclaimers or warnings? Is there any scientific backing of this product? What are the credentials of the people behind the product or publication? Would you feel comfortable using this product (or following the advice of the publication) yourself?
Highlight 1 in your textbook lists red flags of quackery that you might recognize in your selected item to review. I will be looking for at least 2 of these red flags of quackery described in your paper.
Remember to provide references with your paper. At least one of them should be unbiased. Please use APA style for your citations.

Diet analysis general guidelines For this assignment you will be submitting a 2-page (double spaced times new roman 12pt) paper discussing the reflection questions below as well as 3 days of a diet journal. We are looking for a narrative and not for you to answer each individual question like on a test. I also like to reassure students that I do not share any part of this assignment with anyone else so please be truthful in your journaling. This assignment is designed not to promote “diet culture” but to allow students see how successful they can be in the short term in making small changes to better their diet while also hopefully giving them some insight into what they eat. Part 1 Pre Diet Journal Think about what you eat on a daily basis. What are some things you think you already do well? What things can you improve on? This does not need to be huge, it can be small simple things such as increase water intake, more fruit and veg, less mindless eating while watching TV, not skipping meals, better snack choices, etc. Of the things you think you can improve on I would like you to pick one and this is what you will focusing on with this diet journal. Part 2 For part 2 of this assignment students will complete a 3-day diet journal which must include at least 1 weekend day. I recommend downloading the Cronometer app on your phone to make logging your intake easier. The app is available for both IOS and Android. It is a free app and you should not be asked for a credit card or any type of payment when creating an account. You also do not need to upgrade to the “gold” level for this project, the free version works perfectly. Be sure to log all foods, beverages, and ingredients in mixed dishes, and the amount of each you consumed, directly within the app. To increase the accuracy of estimates of food portion sizes, refer to Nutrition Facts Panels on food labels. Serve yourself foods and beverages using a cup measure, or bowls, mugs, and glasses of known volume or if you have available a food scale is the most accurate. For submission of the daily diet journals please log into your cronometer account on your computer and create PDFs for each day. Below are the directions to do this: On Safari File –˃ Export as PDF Name it Day 1, etc. Change save destination so you can find it On Chrome File –˃ Print Change destination to “Save as PDF” Name it Day 1, etc. Change save destination so you can find it Part 3 Post Diet Journal Looking over your diet journal and nutrient breakdown does anything stick out to you as surprising? Are really high or low in any particular nutrient? How did you do with your chosen diet alteration? Did you follow through? Is it something you think you could keep up following the 3 days? Now we are going to look at your diet as a whole. What nutrients were you low in and could you do a better job of eating? What foods could you add to your diet to get these nutrients? Were there any nutrients you were way to high in and if so what foods would you reduce or replace and with what to have a lower intake of that nutrient. Were there any surprises? This could be in regards to a single food or total diet.

2. Identify how Milgram Experiment violate the NIH’s seven principles of human participant research. ( explain how and which it violate with short sentences)
eg: Respect for potential and enrolled participants:
Participants were misled about the true nature of the experiment and experienced extreme psychological stress; electrical shock is a physical harm and psychological distress is also a form of harm.
Here is the introduction of 7 principle: https://www.nih.gov/health-information/nih-clinical-research-trials-you/guiding-principles-ethical-research
Experiment introduction(from wikipedia):
The Milgram experiment(s) on obedience to authority figures were a series of social psychology experiments conducted by Yale University psychologist Stanley Milgram. They measured the willingness of study participants, 40 men in the age range of 20 to 50 from a diverse range of occupations with varying levels of education, to obey an authority figure who instructed them to perform acts conflicting with their personal conscience. Participants were led to believe that they were assisting an unrelated experiment, in which they had to administer electric shocks to a “learner”. These fake electric shocks gradually increased to levels that would have been fatal had they been real.

Now that you have reviewed all of the material over these last 8 weeks and finis

Now that you have reviewed all of the material over these last 8 weeks and finished the course, please consider the following. During Module 1, we discussed obesity as a personal problem and a social problem. Since then, you have explored many of the factors that have led to this epidemic on both the individual and social level. You have also had the opportunity to keep a Food Journal throughout the course to analyze your own eating habits. Based on the information you have learned in the course and after examining the data in your Food Journal, please respond to the following questions.
• Do you still agree or disagree with your initial thoughts on obesity as a personal problem and a social problem?
• How has your opinion changed?
o If it hasn’t changed, do you now have greater insight? Explain
• What did you learn that influenced your perspective?
• When looking back on your Food Journal, what did you learn in the course that will most affect your eating habits?
• Have you made, or are you planning, any changes in your eating or exercise habits based on what you have learned in this course?
• Identify 2 key takeaways you could share with your family
Your essay will be evaluated in terms of how thoroughly you: answer the questions above; use resources to document your main points, and properly cite referenced work. Your essay should address all of the questions above and should consist of approximately 750 words of text (approximately 3 pages of double-spaced and 12 point font of text). Be sure to include specific examples and references from this week’s readings and any additional references you would like to include.
Your paper must follow APA formatting guidelines including:
• A title page.
• Well-developed introductory paragraph explaining the purpose of the essay and briefly referencing some of the main points/contentions offered in the essay.
• The body of the essay should consist of your effort to best answer the primary questions from the assignment prompt Though the method by which this is done is largely up to you, it is essential that the responses to the questions in the prompt be based upon scholarly readings and should remain at all times defensible (in an academic sense). You have a great deal of information to draw from in creating your essay, including the assigned readings and hyperlinked sources in the Module Notes. As is the case with every assignment in SOC221, presenting any unsubstantiated, illogical, or indefensible position will have an adverse effect on the final grade. Please direct any questions regarding these expectations to the instructor.
• A concise concluding paragraph that briefly restates both the purpose of the essay as well as some of the primary arguments offered by you, the essay’s author. Be sure the concluding paragraph does not introduce new information.
• A reference page containing a list of all sources consulted the preparation of the essay. Be sure to review how to properly format your reference page according to the latest APA guidelines
