Never Give Up Hope and Never Give Up Yourself: Argumentative Essay

The last leaf

I learn two important ideas from《the last leaf》written by O Henry. In the story, Johnsy, Sur and Behrman are friends. When johnsy was sick, she thought she would die when the last leaf fell. She give up all the hope, then Behrman give her hope. As a 11 year international student, I learn never give up hope and never give up yourself. The first important idea I learned was never to give up hope. In this story, Johnsy, Sue and Behrman them are close friend. Their friendship is the kind that can give their lives for each other. It is just like George and Lienne in 《of mice and men》The second important idea I learned is the importance of friendship.

The first important idea l learn, is never give up hope. When I was read, I was ask myself: Can you understand the despair of a patient? I think nobody can. But in this story, Johnsy’s friends get the best way to it gave her hope, and It is courage for her to fight against illness. When Sue want to buy something give Johnsy to eat, the Johnsy answers: “you don’t have to buy anything for me,” and she still looked out the window. “there goes another. No, I don’t want anything to eat. Now there are four. I want to see the last leaf fall before night. Then I’ll go, too.” When I read there, I think the Johnsy was give up all the hope for her sick, although Sue tell her good new about her sick. I think I can understand why her give up, it made me thinking of my middle school. In that time, my math was very bad, the point was lower than bio, so I give up my math results, when the math class I will never listen to my math teacher. One day, my math teacher find me and ask me why I did not listening his teach, and ask me why don’t you listen when your grades are poor. I tell him I can not understand what his teach in the class. He just said, “ok, I will help you. Just listening to my teach, I will ensure your math print will higher than higher now. ” and I was listen to his teaching, than my math print was straight up like a rocket, reaching and sometimes exceeding the class average. So I gradually had a hope for mathematics and even thought I could do better. So my hero and I resonate in some ways. We both give up hope and finally find ourselves wrong. Please never give up hope in anytime for anything, it was the author want to tell us.

The second important idea I learn is how importance of friendship. When I was read, I think no one can stand loneliness, and no one does not need friends. How important of friendship do you know? In the story when Behrman dead, the Johnsy was know she was get wrong, she know she must fight with the disease and kill the disease. In the story she said to Sue“it is wrong to want to die. I’ll try to eat now. But first bring me a looking–glass, so that I can sew myself. And then I’ll sit up and watch you cook.” The Behrman’s dead make Johnsy wake up and summon up courage to fight with disease, it make she know she was wrong. The Johnsy, Sue and Behrman them friendship make me thinking of the book name is 《of mice and man》, in that story, Gorgeo and Lienne was a close friend, them love each other and they can not live with out the other. In my life, some body was very look like them close relationship it like G and L them relationship, I was ask G, if one day L missing, would G crazy? The G tell me, she said she will. In my childhood, my mother was ask my a question:“if one day Lida was missing, would you crazy?” I say yes, and I never want that day coming. For me, I’m luck have some friend, and have 7close friends. That is I didn’t have before. I’m very cherish this time. People always need friends, and everyone all need a close friend forever. So the friendship was very important thing in our life.

The last leaf this book was very short, but many valuable things that we can learn need to be discovered by ourselves. Just like the whole book does not say that we cannot give up hope, but the author secretly tells you this point of view. There’s nothing in the book about how many good friends they are, but there are other ways the author can help you empathize with the importance of friendship.

Never Give Up To Achieve Success: My Story in Gymnastics

Everyone has a passion whether it’s big or small. My number one passion is gymnastics. Gymnastics is a fun and very serious sport at sometimes. You can also receive a chance to meet new people. Statistics show that over 5,000 people do gymnastics to have something fun to do. By doing this sport you will most likely never be bored. So being able to have gymnastics as a passion means that you like to be active.

I started gymnastics when I was very young. I was watching a movie with my older sister. It was about a black female named Gabby Douglas whose passion changed her life forever. After we finished the movie, I started practicing gymnastics every day. My parents saw me going crazy over gymnastics. So about two weeks later they signed me up. The moment I walked in, is where it all began.

Like I said before gymnastics has been my gymnastics has been my passion ever since I was young. The first time I went to gymnastics was with my older sister. I wasn’t doing very good when I arrived. Since my sister was competing at the time, I asked her for some tips. She only taught me when she had time, and by the time I mean when she wasn’t texting her friends. So I went to my second option, Youtube. So I guess you can say the whole idea of me being a gymnast came from my sister.

Other can get involved in gymnastics if they wanted to. However, gymnastics is a sport that requires strength, flexibility, dedication, and determination. It also requires the ability to be graceful and delicate. This is because you will be expected to compete on uneven bars, balance beams, floor, and vaulting horse. So in order to be successful in gymnastics, you need to be dedicated.

In conclusion, gymnastics relates to my goal of being an Olympic gymnast like Gabby Douglas. So as long as I never give up, stay dedicated, and keep practicing I will have a higher chance of being an Olympic gymnast. And if I keep working hard enough who knows, maybe I can earn two gold medals at the age of 16, just like Gabby Douglas. But in order to reach this goal, I need to stay dedicated and always put in my best effort.

Arguments For and Against the Motto: Never Give Up

The end has happened there is nothing to do. Or anything to be done. Lying there wondering what is there to be done, or anything at all to do in life anymore. Just me and life. thinking and thinking there is nothing to do everything is boredom. I’m completely alone full stop wishing there is something that I could do. only if there was someone so close to me to be here right now by my side to cheer me up and to always be there for me when I need them. One day I’m sure there will be that person but right now I need to think of the present and figure out what can be done now that I am alone and lonely.

Over the years and years, I’ve developed so much that I should be able to stay strong right now and survive without a friend and go for one day that someone will come here for me. I will stay strong and never give up for the person who is going to be here right by my side forever. I will never give up in what I believe and one day My wish will come to you that someone will be there for me and do all these hard times I’ve gone through by myself it would have all paid off. Now and I am stressed if I know it’ll be the next day and I’ll be ready for more than wealth and tough homework step-by-step getting closer to the one who I’ve been waiting for all this time.

Now it is the next day. Getting happier and happier as each day goes past knowing that one day closer as time moves by I will see that person so I’ve been waiting for. But today I must work hard so in the end all this work will pay off. Today I’ll keep on Persevering till the end. I will work so hard that I feel like I’m going to fall to the ground and die. But now I must get to work to make sure I’ve worked enough.

Over the days and days, it has been such a hard time having to be here all alone working harder and harder at each day goes past. I’ve been waiting and waiting and thinking about when will the day come when so it is there for me. feels like that’s never going to happen should I give up now or keep on fighting for that person we’re still to come. people say to fight for who you love and never give up but today right now this very moment I’m thinking that is nearly impossible to do that and so instead I will live like this. and work so hard has never been done. Now I will stay here and enjoy my life as much as I want.

Critical Analysis of Hidden Figures: Never Give Up

In today’s society, there is justice in the world, but the injustice for the black race has had a negative impact on the lives of African American people. Injustice in the form of racial discrimination has affected African Americans through misrepresentation only because their skin colour is not white, being socially segregated separating them from the privileges of white people. (reason 3). The authors and directors have shown this form of injustice throughout their film and novel.

Hidden Figures directed by Theodore Melfi and To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, focus on injustice. Both are set during the Great Depression between the early 1930s to the late 1960s. Most African American people in the 1950-1960s were segregated and had to put up with unequal systems involving school, housing, employment and hospitals. They were living as second-class citizens and had higher chances of poverty and suffered unemployment.

The author and director…… proved that….. there is still issue around racial discrimination today

The key message in the film Hidden Figures is to work hard and have perseverance, to never give up on your dreams, even when people tell you that you can’t. The three women in the film look beyond the racial discrimination against their gender and skin colour and focus on the talents that they have.

Like Hidden Figures, the message throughout the novel To Kill a Mockingbird is that people often have prejudices and incorrect opinions of people, which should be avoided by having empathy and understanding that not everyone is the same.

The Hidden Figures film was made in the early 2000s and illustrates the lives of three African American women, Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. Their significant contributions to NASA as mathematicians during the Space Race in the 1950s and 60s were the reason the launching and orbit of John Glenn was successful and lead to America winning the Space Race. Although these women had a vast contribution to NASA, they faced segregation because of their race and gender. The prejudices faced by these women are also seen in the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird.

The novel, To Kill a Mockingbird is set in the 1930´s set from the point of view of a six-year-old known as Scout. Her father, Atticus, relates closely to a Hidden Figure´s character, Al Harrison. He is the head director of the projects undertaken in NASA. Al Harrison was not concerned with the prejudices of the world, he just wanted to be the first to launch an American into space. These are similar actions to Atticus. Although Atticus was assigned to defend an African American man convicted of raping a teenager, he did not care about what the people in the community had to say about him doing his job and defending Tom Robinson. He wanted to make sure he did his job the best he could in order to defend Tom Robinson.

Throughout the novel, a repeated justice issue of racial discrimination against black people, specifically Tom Robinson who is the main victim of this injustice is evident. Unfortunately for Tom Robinson, there was no getting away from the charges filed against him. This was simply due to his race. As well as him, the Ewell family, although white, also suffer this discrimination by the citizens of Maycomb as they are known as white trash.

Racial segregation was a system that separated people into racial or ethnic groups in daily life. This included spatial separation and mandatory use of facilities for different races. Specifically, these segregations consisted of drinking from a water fountain, using a public toilet, attending school and riding on a bus.

Hidden Figures shows this segregation in NASA’s Kennedy Space centre, where the African American women must work at a different campus specifically for coloured people. Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson are offered new jobs based in the main campus of NASA. This was an accomplishment for these women, but the main campus does not allocate for coloured people. This meant when the women needed a drink or toilet break, they would have to run back to their original campus for the coloured facilities.

The film provides an insight on how racial segregation effected African American people and what battles they faced. Katherine Johnson fought for this segregation to be stopped. She, along with the others became accepted and could use the same facilities as the white people.

Similar to the film, To Kill a Mockingbird also has signs of this segregation. This is seen in the court room while Tom Robinson is in trial. There were separate seating areas in the Maycomb County Court House for the blacks and whites. The rule was that whites sat on the ground floor, while blacks sat in the balcony. As well as this, blacks were expected to wait until all white people had entered the court room before they were allowed to enter.

One more reason/topic to speak about here?

To Kill a Mockingbird should still be taught to a younger audience because it allows us to understand and picture what it was like to live in the 1930s as a young girl. Along with seeing how brutal racism was and the challenges faced while living in this time.

Like the novel, Hidden Figures shows how much effort and persistence three African American women had to put into being able to work in the main area of NASA, as well as being accepted for who they are. The challenges faced and what they had to deal with in this era were shown and display such injustice for coloured people. For an audience, it provides an insight on how hard work pays off and to never give up on your dreams. These women in the film, have such an impact on today’s society because it heavily influences women to become leaders.

In society today, we are not so far removed from the days when racial discrimination against the African Americans was in full effect. Although we have made great strides and overcome many adversities, we still have a long way to go before the scale balances out. Studies show that 92% of African American people surveyed say that the discrimination against the black race still exists today.

Conclusion

The authors and directors, Theodore Melfi and Harper Lee, have shown a form of injustice throughout their novel and film by showing the struggles that African American people faced due to the misrepresentation only because their skin colour was not white as well as being socially segregated separating them from the privileges of white people. This form of racial discrimination is still seen today, it is a lense through which people interpret and reproduce inequality.

Expository Essay about Never Giving Up

Once upon a time in the middle of winter, when the sky was overcast with shadows and the ground was covered with snow, there lived a girl who was very fond of theatre. She took a theater class in her childhood, but she has remembered every single memory she had. That girl was me! When my alarm clock woke me up at eight o’clock in the morning, I had no idea that today would be the saddest day of my life. Everyone played a role during the lesson, and my role was to be a snow white. I felt like a cork ready to burst from a bottle of champagne.

My heart was pounding as I walked through the theater stage. It was such a thrill that I forgot the words of the drama. Even worse, my friend mocked me in front of every people in the class. ”You are the worst performer but don’t worry my friend. Instead of being a snow white, you can be a witch,” he said, with sardonic eyes. His words were bullets to me. It was like a giant hole was pummeled into my chest. I started chewing on my lower lip and my tears escaped. It was the worst experience I have ever had. From then on, all I could think was quitting theater class. I could never go into that class again because I felt cheap like thirty cents! While I was deep in thought at my home about what I should do, a gentle breeze wafted the scent of roses through the open window. That smell… It’s the 21st of January, 2009.

My mother sits at her vanity, wearing make-up. The room smells of nasturtium, violets, and clove. ”Oh, my beautiful girl! In life, you’ll learn there are many things that are out of control,” she says. I listen quietly and attentively. She continues, ”But, you have to just carry on. Remember, you can’t have success without sacrifice. As the saying goes, no pain no gain.” Her words made sense on that day. I didn’t need to make big life decisions based on other people’s opinions, because it was my life. On another day, I attended theater class as if nothing had happened. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. As time goes by, the theater boosted my self-confidence and self-esteem. When I was thirteen years old, I took part in a theater contest. The Contest was held at the Istanbul State Theatre on the proscenium stage. It has an architectural frame.

The scene is gently sloped rising away from the audience. My role was to be a Cinderella on that magnificent stage. She was the fictional character of a folktale who has medium-length blonde hair and blue eyes. As it was my first participation, I jumped up and down and squealed with excitement! ”I believe in you. You were born ready, don’t worry,” my mother said softly. The encouragement that my mommy provided me rekindled the spark of self-confidence in me. Towards the end of elimination, my legs were trembling with excitement. ”The winner goes to…” words made my day! I couldn’t believe my ears when I got called on stage as a winner. The feeling of winning was like being on top of the world. I won the chance to meet superstars! If I hadn’t listened to my mother, I wouldn’t have had any of these good memories. It left me with one important lesson: nothing was going to hand itself to me. As William Penn puts it, “No pain, no palm, no throne; no fall, no glory, no cross, no crown.”
