Essay on Shakespeare’s Image of Love in ‘Romeo and Juliet’

Shakespeare depicts the love in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ in many ways. Their love is portrayed by images of light and dark and juxtaposed against death. Romeo and Juliet’s love is associated with sight and appearances; love at first sight. After all, the love of Romeo and Juliet is portrayed as of another world and heavenly. They are ‘star-crossed lovers’, with their destiny predetermined; they and other humans have no control instead the control lies with fate and God. We are revealed this in the opening prologue, the chorus refers to the main characters as ‘star-crossed lovers’ a fantasy to the belief the stars and planets have the power to control the events on earth.

In this scene of the play, Shakespeare draws attention to the first conversation between Romeo and Juliet, a Christian metaphor. Using this metaphor, Romeo manages to convince Juliet to let him kiss her, “thus from my lips, by thine, my sin is purged”. The religious connotations of the conversation clearly imply that their love can only be described through the vocabulary of religion, that pure association with God. In this way, their love becomes associated with purity and holiness. But there is another side to the present association of private love and religion. Romeo compares Juliet to a picture of a saint that ought to be he has for Juliet revered, a role that Juliet is willing to play. Romeo and Juliet’s love seems always to be opposed by the social structures of family, honor, and therefore the civil desire for order.

When Romeo and Juliet first meet, they speak only fourteen lines before their first kiss. These fourteen lines make up a shared sonnet, showing their harmony and connection, representing how perfectly they are made for each other, a soul connection, which was seen to be foolish in the Elizabethan era as they were only seen to marry for money and power.

A sonnet is perfect and often used to write about love. Encapsulating the instant of origin of Romeo and Juliet’s love within a sonnet, therefore, creates an ideal match between literary content and formal style. The use of the sonnet, however, also serves a second, darker purpose. The play’s Prologue is also a sonnet of an equivalent rhyme scheme as Romeo and Juliet’s shared sonnet. If you remember, the Prologue sonnet introduces the play, and, through its description of Romeo and Juliet’s eventual death, also helps to make the sense of fate that permeates Romeo and Juliet. The shared sonnet between Romeo and Juliet, therefore, creates a proper link between their love and their destiny. With a single sonnet, Shakespeare finds a means of expressing perfect love and linking it to a tragic fate.

After the Capulet party, in Act Two, Scene Two, Shakespeare presents the all-consuming nature of love, again, as both characters are so overwhelmed with their feelings for each other. They express themselves passionately and we are shown just how much it has consumed them; to such extent that they are rebelliously ignoring their families feud, and going against their parents’ wishes. The audience can perhaps see the warning of the dangerous nature of love as they anticipate the foreshadowed dark consequence of their forbidden love.

Romeo and Juliet are alone on the balcony in the Capulets land, Shakespeare chooses this location to show the extent of love Romeo has for Juliet, as we, the audience, know that it is forbidden as the two families are in an ancient feud, and it is an exceedingly foolish move for Romeo to be doing; this shows us how much he is willing to risk to be with his love, Juliet. “O blessed, blessed night I am feared, being in the night, all this is but a dream”. Romeo knows it is reality, but still refers to the moment as a dream-he believes Juliet is a goddess; too good for him, he puts her on a pedestal. Juliet is willing to give up everything for Romeo “deny thy father and refuse thy name” she is even prepared to give up her family name and her family for him, ironic as in the end she loses them to her death, suicide in order to be with Romeo. Shakespeare uses things that the audience relate to; family and the bloodline of the family were important in the Elizabethan era, so Juliet declaring that she will not be reluctant to leave her family and home to run away proves how much she loves Romeo and is willing to give up for him.

Shakespeare uses the phrase “Juliet is the sun”, the imagery here demonstrates the strength of Romeo’s feelings of his devoted love. When comparing Juliet to the sun, he indicates that he associates her with life, perhaps implying that he cannot live without her. This exaggerates the consuming nature of love, foreshadowing the idea that when Juliet is found to be ‘dead’ Romeo sees no point in living, resulting in his death at the end of the play.

At the end of the play, we witness the tragic death of the two lovers. Their suicide is dramatically structured by Shakespeare, drawing attention to the impetuous nature of Romeo as he makes rash decisions based on a consuming feeling of love. If Romeo was not so consumed by his feelings, he would have perhaps thought more carefully about his actions and Juliet would have awoken, allowing the two to be reunited. Through these events, Shakespeare clearly foreshadows the consequences of their love from the very start of the story however, although Shakespeare presents the destructive nature of love in the deaths of the two lovers, the focus is revived on the impact their love has. The main theme in this story is love, it overcame all, Romeo was driven by love, and passion, through all the deaths in the play and Romeo’s short thought decisions, they were all driven by love. In Act Five, Scene Three, the audience witnesses the ultimate immeasurable power of their love, as it demonstrated in the end to end the ancient feud between Montague and Capulet households. Despite the tragedy, the play ends with Verona being bought to peace because of their profound love, here Shakespeare makes a powerful suggestion that love is in fact stronger and can overcome all hate and conflict.

Essay about Meaning of True Love

As human being man is born in this world full of longing, he has this need, that desires to be satisfied, the need for love, C.S. Lewis in his book ‘Four Loves’ states that “as soon as we are fully conscious, we discover loneliness. Each individual need other people physically, emotionally, intellectually; we need them if we are to know anything, even ourselves”. The child experiences love in his own family, which can be described as filial love, love in the family, after he grows up, he will discover Eros, love is more physical, love that beauty attracts, as he grows up, he learns to love unconditionally, he learning to sacrifice, and this is called Agape. This kind of love is very much present in every stage of our life. Modern people now a days, have different understanding of love, The word ‘love’ has more than one possible meaning, it can be a love for a romantic relationship, a love for a friend, a love for a family member. However, because we long for the true love many people are led astray to what true love means. In this paper I would discuss love in freedom, responsibility and bioethics. By understanding these principles about love, one can have a clear understanding of how one can truly love.

“Love separated from responsibility, for the person is a denial of itself and, as a rule, is always egoism. The more the sense of responsibility for the person, the more true love there is”. People should be able to be responsible in their actions, because when you love, you make an effort to please the one you love. Each person has the responsibility to respect the other and he is accountable to the commitment of love, that love, should be selfless and mature. In choosing to love a person, we must be responsible with our actions we are showing them, we must be sincere and truthful in showing our love, because love is not only a noun to be defined, but a verb to be acted sincerely. A person cannot separate love from responsibility, with the absence of responsibility the love that occur between two individuals can lead to lust and more bound to use and abuse. Taking the responsibility is very important for it against egoism or self-centeredness, one cannot say that he truly loves, if he is irresponsible or cannot take responsibility for his actions, he is not just a coward for doing, so but also, he cannot fully commit himself to love. Love demands being accountable for every action done, it demands owning what needs to be owned, true love is responsible for it respects the other, for it respects the beloved.

According to Karol Wojtyla, “Love consists in a commitment of freedom because after all, love is self-giving, and give to oneself means precisely to limits one’s freedom on account of the other person”, when it comes to loving, the lover sacrifices many things, he sacrifices his freedom. He gives part or even the whole of himself for the good of the beloved since love is indeed self-giving. “The limitation of one’s own freedom would be something negative and unpleasant, but love makes it something positive, joyful, and creative. Freedom is for love. Freedom that is unused, not employed by love, becomes precisely something negative—it gives man a sense of emptiness and unfulfillment”. As a human being, man should set limitation when it comes to our freedom. Believe it or not there are some points in our lives that whenever undesirable things happen with our freedom, we react on it but when we love someone, we tend to disregard our freedom as long as it is for the good of the one, we truly love. Every pain that we experience, every joy and tears that man endure all of these becomes more meaningful in love. Some people may see it as foolishness, empty and meaningless for it can only be understood by the one who truly loves. True freedom always finds only the good; someone is not free if he uses freedom beyond his limitation, one is not truly free if he uses his freedom to violate the laws that follows a consequence that might put him in jail that limits his freedom. So, there is no freedom in love if it is not based on truth.

According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, the term ‘bioethics’ is a discipline dealing with the ethical implications of biological research and applications especially in medicine. It deals with the ethics in medicine and moral discernment among people who are most likely cannot decide on their own because of their sickness. Love in bioethics is a very wide subject to deal with; for this paper let me discuss issue on transplant that I think best fit the subject matter. The book ‘Catholic Bioethics for a New Millennium’ by William May states: “The progress of medical science has made it possible for people to project even beyond death their vocation of love”. Man in his life is called to love, and many who truly loves can sacrifice even his own comfort for their love ones, the advancement of science made all those things possible, the technology can now do transplant from a healthy person to those who are medically ill, but the question here now is, is it ethically acceptable? Many issues arise from this medical practice, for the one who will donate an organ can be in danger of death. “We intuitively and instinctively judge that the giving of a part of one’s own body to help a gravely or even mortally ill fellow human person is not only morally justifiable but an act of heroic charity”. But one should keep in mind that there are limitations for doing. So, medical practitioners should be well aware of its restriction, for one cannot sacrifice the life of an individual for the good of the other. “A Person can only donate that of which he can deprive himself without serious danger or harm to his own life or personal identity, and for a just appropriate reason”. Giving up healthy organs for the survival of the beloved is Indeed a great act of love, the act of sacrifice made by the person best express genuine love, love that goes beyond the comforts of relationship, for it is never easy to give up one’s own, especially part of the body to the person we don’t truly love. There is no love without sacrifice, and we witness or even experience relationships who cannot offer oneself easily collapses. We know the needs of the persons we love, even before they asked us, Antoine de Saint-Exupery in his book ‘The Little Prince’ said: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye”, because true love has a heart that can see beyond any limitations.

Love is something that excites us because of the affection that we feel when we love or when we are loved. Love is something that can lead an individual to positivity in life which makes us feel the joy and happiness of what this world can offer. It is factor that influences people to do something good with pure intentions to express their strong feeling of love. People get hurt because they understand love only in its physicality. People expect something in their investments, and they only do things to be loved back. People exert efforts expecting that their partner will do the same, but true love goes beyond these plain understanding. Love demands unconditional response and selflessness. Love is indeed univocal we have a lot of understanding when it comes to love and different expressions on it, but it cannot be defined plainly because it cannot be limited by words, this paper capture the meaning of love in bioethics, freedom and responsibility, and it helped me personally understand in a mature way love, for it cannot be limited only to Eros, which the motivation is more physical. Love entails freedom for only in being free we can love truly without restriction. Ture love needs to be responsible for it requires commitment, a mutual responsibility the very foundation of love. True love can sacrifice, and one can only sacrifice because he doesn’t see the other apart of himself, he sees the beloved and himself as one.

Essay on Mother’s Love

Who would you be today if you didn’t have your mum? The small things our mothers do for us may go unnoticed, but the impact these things have on your future are significant. From the day you are born, your mum is there to feed you, love you and clothe you. She is there to protect you, nourish you and care for you. Sometimes an individual’s biological mother may not be the person they call ‘mum’, but if there is a mother figure in your life, this all works the same.

I have a faint memory from when I was a child and I was playing with my cousins. I remember my mum lifting me onto the lounge and changing my nappy. People are surprised that I can remember that far back but we can recall memories that are significant in our lives. My mum taking care of me is significant because where would I be today without her? Mothers have been able to lift entire cars to save their trapped babies. That’s something you would only expect from an insane body builder. Now, that’s what love does. A mother’s love for her child gives her the willpower to do almost anything.

Studies have shown that children who grow up without a mother figure have had issues with their emotional and mental development. Without a mother present, issues with insecurities, mental health issues and emotional imbalances can arise in kids and teens. This shows the importance of having a mother figure in our lives. Losing your mother at a young age can greatly affect a child’s overall mental health and well-being. Just like a plant without water, a child can barely survive without their mother around. What happens when mum isn’t around at all? A father can pick up the traits a mother carries. He can play both Mum and Dad even though it just isn’t the same. In some situations, this is a reality and this is what families do. This is because the role of a mother is important and needs to be fulfilled for a child to develop mentally and emotionally.

Sometimes we are overwhelmed with love from our mothers. It sounds silly but sometimes people feel that their mums care too much. Not letting them go out with friends or have sleepovers, it has an effect of kids as well. Children are more likely to become rebellious when they don’t get any freedom to explore the world. It’s like if you are taking care of a plant. You water it every day and feed it fertilizer to keep it happy and healthy. If you over-water that plant, it will drown. The older you grow, the less you need your mum, right? Eventually you can dress and feed yourself, you move out of home and do your own thing. You then start to rely on your mother for emotion support. When you go through a break up or you are stressed because of work, your mother is that shoulder you cry on.

A baby bird can’t leave the nest without its mother teaching it to fly. What I’ve realized through writing this is the importance of a mother’s role in a person’s life. No matter how old you grow, whether you are 6, 22 or 64, you never grow out of a mother’s love. Even though it does not scream the loudest, a mother’s love is one of the most important things in life.

Illusions of Love in ‘The Great Gatsby’

What do we really desire in life? Your emotions and especially love can push you to do good things in life but sadly, can also push you to make negative choices or even become obsessive. As was the case for Gatsby in this novel. In the book, ‘The Great Gatsby’ by F. Scott Fitzgerald, love and desire are big motivators for almost nearly every character, but especially for Gatsby. The good the bad and even the ugly can come out in relationships especially when there are strong feelings involved. We have all been in a relationship or have known someone who has had a relationship pull on all of their emotions. Love is usually at the root of the things that make us happy along with the things that can make us crazy too. Sometimes love can make people blind and not let them see what is really going on. Is it really love that Gatsby is looking for? Or is it just the idea of loving Daisy that he is longing for. Love can be many different things and make a person do many things for love or desire or what they think is true love.

In ‘The Great Gatsby’, we get Gatsby’s backstory at the beginning of the book. He lies and tries to make it seem like he has always had money. But that is not a true reality. He fakes that his parents died and he inherited all the wealth from them. We soon find out that his parents were actually poor farmers and he was very poor throughout his life. He was about to go into war when he met Daisy. He fell for Daisy and had what he thought was a love for Daisy, but as we find out in the rest of the story, this love was a falsified love based more on a status he was trying to build for himself. At the time when Gatsby first met Daisy, he promised her when he got back, he would fulfill her life, take care of her, and love her forever. Daisy was from a rich family and that was the lifestyle she wanted for herself. When Gatsby went away for the war, Daisy decided to go ahead and marry a man named Tom. He was from a good social status and had money. He had the lifestyle she wanted and he fulfilled her needs and what she wanted in life. So, she stays married to Tom even though their love is not a committed and faithful love.

When Gatsby returns from the war, he craves the love he thinks he has for Daisy so he strives to get her back and the idea of her, which Gatsby so wanted. In the book, Gatsby stares at a green light between the west and east egg across the sea at the end of Daisy’s dock. The green light represents the hope and future that Gatsby has with Daisy. Gatsby would throw wild parties in West Egg in hopes that Daisy would return. During the parties he hosted, they were never the same, since his beloved Daisy was not with him. Without her, his parties had no use, no purpose. He would stand outside peering at the green light across the water, where he knew Daisy lived, wanting someone he could never have, wanting the same love back he once had but knew he may never get. “So, we beat on, boats against current, borne back ceaselessly into the past” (pg. 180) Only fools fall in love and the biggest fool in the story is Gatsby himself. Throughout the story, Tom and Gatsby get into a quarrel over Daisy, Gatsby wants Daisy to be with him and leave Tom. But Tom and Daisy have an unusual relationship, they have an affection for each other and some type of loyalty but it isn’t actually love. Gatsby tells Tom that he loves Daisy, but Daisy has never truly loved either of them. Gatsby tries to force Daisy to say that she has never loved Tom and that she only loves Gatsby because that is what he wants to hear. Daisy finally says “I did love him once- but I loved you too” (Chapter 7, Fitzgerald, pg. 132). But in reality, she truly only loved herself and the material things.

Gatsby thinks he can now win Daisy over by showing her what he has to offer in his home. This doesn’t win her over though. Daisy is only in love with herself and her status in life, no one else. We can see this by the way she acts within the story. Gatsby thinks he is still in love with Daisy. And he would do anything to get her back, but that love has turned into an obsession, and that obsession takes over his life. For Gatsby this obsession becomes strong and we see this in the book when Gatsby would do anything for Daisy no matter the cost. Daisy kills one of the characters in the book, yet Gatsby says he would take the blame for Daisy because he claims that he loves her and would do anything to keep her safe. Gatsby is letting what he thinks is love get in the way of right and wrong and it compels him to do something for someone that doesn’t love him back and is not a good healthy choice. Gatsby has a very skewed, messed up and unhealthy obsession for Daisy at this point.

Love is a very strong emotion. In the book, love is misconceived and isn’t based on what love really should be about. The characters have an idea about what love is, but miss the point of what true love is really about. True love should be healthy and have boundaries but should also be where you hold someone dear to your heart. You show them you care about them in good and positive ways. You show this through giving of yourself and doing things unconditionally without expecting things back. Love will also have hard times where we as humans have to go through ups and downs with those we love. But love also has to let go and let the other person learn a lesson if that person is making negative choices that might jeopardize love. Love is also about forgiving but sometimes if a person we love is hurting us or causing us to not be our best then you may have to pull away and trust that if it is meant to be that person will come back and recognize their unhealthy ways and grow and mature. We can still feel a love for them but have to have a boundary. This isn’t always easy and lots of other feelings and emotions can come into play. Each person in life has to find their own idea and understanding of love but love is not supposed to be hurtful. Yet a lot of times it ends up doing just that because as humans we drag a lot more into our ideas of what love is truly supposed to be. Fitzgerald showed us this through the book with many different ideas of love throughout each character. Almost every human has to learn and understand healthy ways to express love and a lot of times there are things that get in our way and path and lead us down a more destructive path of love. Lots of times people end up getting hurt and other feelings play out which causes a lot of damage. This ends up being the case in ‘The Great Gatsby’. Love is believed to be a lot of things it is not, and Gatsby’s view of love is very confused by his desires for himself.

In the story of ‘The Great Gatsby’, Fitzgerald portrays themes of desire, love, and obsession through the character Jay Gatsby. He confuses his idea of love with the reality of what he actually wants to achieve by having Daisy in his life. Most people want to find love in their lives and it should be a healthy good love but in a lot of cases, other feelings and people or material things get in the way and make love seem like it is something it is not. For Gatsby, it’s showing that he can achieve the wealth he desires, and he feels having Daisy is a part of this love he pictures. She helps fill his desire for status and completes this picture, therefore he feels he loves her. But this love he thinks he has for her, ends up being the death of him and drives him to an obsession that is unhealthy and is not at all what true is actually supposed to be.

Is Love the Strongest Emotion? Essay

Love is the strongest and most influential emotion because it causes people to make decisions that could potentially be life threatening that they otherwise would not make. Although understanding what’s going on to create emotions can be complex its vital for analyzing Romeo and Juliet. The reason for this is because one needs to understand the reasoning for many behaviors of Romeo and Juliet and looking at what’s going on in the brain is a good way of going about it. Although many of Romeo and Juliet’s actions seem unreasonable there is ways to justify and reason with them.

In ‘Romeo and Juliet’ there are many examples of how strong love really is. “Yea, noise? Then I’ll be brief. O happy dagger, This is thy sheath. There rust and let me die” (Shakespeare). This is a quote from the last scene in Romeo and Juliet. What happened is Juliet had taken a mixture of some sorts that makes it seem as if she’s dead, but in reality, she’s just asleep and will wake up. The reason they did this was to sneak Juliet out because Romeo had committed a crime and was no longer allowed in the city. See they had only meet three days ago yet, the thought of losing something they both loved, this new unexplainable love, was too overbearing so in term Juliet faked death to leave even if it meant losing everything else, she had. But when Romeo had come, he had never received word on the plan and believed she was dead. And in turn took a poison which had killed him literally minutes before Juliet’s awakening. When Juliet saw this after waking up, she took death into her own hands and stabbed herself with a dagger beside Romeo. Because she didn’t want to continue to live without Romeo. Also, her dad was planning on making her marry Paris, another character in Romeo and Juliet who had the desire to marry Juliet. But she had already secretly already married Romeo and did not wish to marry Paris. This is a harsh and a little bit dramatic example of how love can toil with the mind, and how important it is to the mind and body to feel love.

One thing that must be considered though is that Romeo and Juliet were still teenagers. Which means that their brain and frontal cortex, a part of the brain that aids reasoning and planning, was not fully developed yet. This causes teenagers to make irrational decisions without thinking them through. This is one part of reasoning Romeo and Juliet’s behaviors throughout the play. Although not everything and a lot of the extremes of the play are very imaginative and a little bit exaggerative some things can be put into more realistic context. Especially since teenagers haven’t dealt with emotions and feelings as much as adults. With the new edition of: just learning about the consequences of your actions in the real world, how to properly deal with emotions, what to do in different situations, reasoning not completely being there, and emotions being extreme do to hormones it’s easy to see why many teenagers make irrational decisions when it comes to love. Not only that but even adults struggle when it comes to love and dealing with romantic relationships and the situations that come along with love. So, when one adds all the other things that are going on in the brain its quite easy to see how dealing with and expressing one’s feelings can be hard. “Teenagers are impatient because developing brain connections make it difficult for them to see the benefits of waiting longer for a larger reward. There are numerous studies showing impulsivity in adolescents and this often results in them partaking in high-risk behavior” (Osborne). This statement shows that adolescents and teens do not into the future when they are making decisions instead, they think about what the benefits are now and deal with the consequences later, even if those consequences mean death.

One big factor in all of this is what is going on in the mind and body. The limbic system and nervous system are the parts that are primarily responsible for these emotions. A quick trip to an article called ‘The Emotional Nervous System’ by Dr. C. Boeree on the Internet can greatly help in understating what’s going on, which is where most of the next information about the limbic system. “The limbic system is a complex set of structures that lies on both sides of the thalamus, just under the cerebrum. It includes the hypothalamus, the hippocampus, the amygdala, and several other nearby areas. It appears to be primarily responsible for our entire emotional life and has a lot to do with the formation of memories” (Dr. Boeree). But names of parts don’t really seem to help which is why the research must be taken deeper. “The hypothalamus is a small part of the brain located just below thalamus on both sides of the third ventricle (the ventricles are areas within the cerebrum that are filled with cerebrospinal fluid and connect to the fluid in the spine.) It sits just inside the two tracts of the optic nerve, and just above (and intimately connected with) the pituitary gland” (Dr. Boeree). This is one of the busiest parts of the brain and is responsible mostly for homeostasis. and is responsible mostly for homeostasis. Homeostasis is the process of keeping and returning something to its default and set point. With this the hypothalamus regulates your hanger, thirst, levels of pleasure, the way you respond to pain, sexual satisfaction, anger and aggressive behavior and much more. It also regulates how the autonomic nervous system functions, which means it is responsible for how things like pulse, blood pressure, breathing, and arousal in emotional circumstances function. It also receives information from many parts of the body. The vague nerve gives information about distention of the gut (how full you are), and blood pressure. The reticular formation in the brain system provides information about skin temperature, whilst the optic nerve shows information on light and darkness. Unusual neurons lining the ventricles gives information on the contents in the cerebrospinal fluid, even including toxins that cause vomiting. And from the olfactory (smell) nerves, it gets information that helps with the regulation of eating and sexuality. The hypothalamus also has its own receptors that provide information on blood temperature and ion balance. But without memory none of this is important as memory is vital in any important relationship.

The hippocampus is the part of the brain that is responsible for building, storing, and taking things from short-term memory and transforming them into long-term memory. This part of the brain is sensitive and fragile, yet vital for the human brain. If this part of the brain were to get damaged the person would no longer be able to create new memories. And the person would be living in a world where everything they’ve experienced slowly fades away even memories that were untouched before the damage. This part of the brain is vital because one most remember and have memories with a person to develop a relationship with anyone and to grow together as one.

Now one might say that anger is a very high impact emotion as well. Also, that anger causes irrational decisions and is an intense emotion. The difference with this is there are certain things that can inflict these emotions and can be prevented in many situations, where as love is an emotion that is not chosen, also a person isn’t looking to come back and defend themselves. Also, with anger many times people are to be less vulnerable where love is just the opposite, love requires a lot of vulnerability to gain trust. Also, if a person is angry at a person, they love one can notice that it doesn’t last as the love and relationship already developed out ways the anger. Also, love is lasting and ever growing, where as anger declines and dose not continue to grow rather then put weight on a person’s shoulders and stress them out where love eases that pain.

Some of Romeo and Juliet’s actions can be justified when one investigates what’s really going even though many are unreasonable. Even though understanding what’s really going on with emotions in the brain is complex its vital for analyzing and understanding Romeo and Juliet. And the previous explanations show why love is the strongest and most influential emotion because the outcomes can cause irrational and life-threatening decisions. And the previous explanations show why love is the strongest and most influential emotion because the outcomes can cause irrational and life-threatening decisions.

Michael Jackson as an Influencer through Love and Movement

Michael Jackson, the ‘King of Pop’, is an influencer and a legend in pop culture worldwide. His music, dance, and style has inspired people for decades and the loss of his life was one of the most talked about and mourned events for years. His dance moves are still being used in the dance world today and his music that goes with them still inspires dancers. His style was a trademark to his name and changed the fashion industry as well. Michael Jackson also shed light on issues in the world that many people did not want to speak of as well as donating to charities and funds to support diseases. He used his fame to do good in the world and was able to connect with people across the globe. He not only touched the people of America with his talents, he envisioned the world coming together in peace and harmony and created music that unified (Quinn, 2018). Michael Jackson is a significant influencer of many generations as he left a mark on the entertainment industry and all of society with his music, contribution to dance, and fashion while inspiring global change.

Michael Jackson’s legacy began in Gary, Indiana on August 28, 1958. His African American nationality would eventually turn into a major platform for his life philosophy and inspire others globally when he became so successful. Jackson began schooling at a public school in his hometown at a young age and set out to do music soon after that. He was only six years old when he joined the notorious group, The Jackson 5, in 1964. Jackson’s father managed the group of 5 booking them stage performances and appearances. Through all of this chaos as a young boy, school was not a large priority to him. However, through occasional private tutoring Michael eventually graduated from Montclair College Preparatory School. When Jackson grew older, he set out to make a solo career for himself in the 1970s. After his album ‘Thriller’ he was a phenomenon among the industry and was creating a statement in the music industry. Michael Jackson set a high standard for performers and musicians as he gave all the effort he had when he was on stage and creating music.

Michael Jackson’s philosophy of life and his career inspired people in every industry and part of the world. His career was heavily influenced and inspired by R&B and Soul artists such as Sammy Davis Jr, Gene Kelly, Diana Ross, Frank Sinatra, and Bob Fosse. However, Jackson had much more to give than just through music. His philosophy of life was love. He wrote a 3-page letter explaining his goals, reactions to conversations about racism, and vision of the world. He wanted to capture and share with others the excitement and emotion of his industry and life, to teach others to love all people over the world equally as he did because he believed that all men are created equal, and inspire people to overcome prejudice. He did not think of himself as a philosopher, but instead someone who had a purpose in life that lived to express it. Throughout his forty-year career Jackson merged art forms, melded genres and styles, and promoted an ethos of unity in his work (Martin, 2015). Michael also produced an immense amount of work on different platforms on entertainment. Some of his most famous songs were ‘Beat It’, ‘Thriller’, and ‘Man in the Mirror’. Jackson’s fame cut across all demographics with the 1982 album ‘Thriller’, and ‘Billie Jean’ was one of the top hits from it (Catton, 2018). He also wrote literary works that included ‘Moonwalk’ and ‘Dancing the Dream’, as well as creating famous music videos such as ‘Thriller’ and ‘Bad’ all while making dance moves and costumes to inspire people for decades. His dance moves, like the moonwalk, were legendary (Caldwell, 2017). Michael Jackson incorporated his philosophy into each one of these aspects that changed the entertainment industry forever. Without love, whether it have been his love for music or his love for other people, Jackson may not have been the artist he was. This philosophy inspired him in creating all that he did artistically and in return inspired others as well.

Michael Jackson not only made an impact on people through his entertainment and philosophy, but he made an impact on a global level through his actions as a peacemaker. Jackson participated in humanitarian acts such as donating to charities and funds for diseases such as AIDS. He prided himself on helping to relieve the world of prejudice opinions and teaching people to love all equally, but one of his greatest impacts was through his role in music being an African American in a predominantly white industry that was still facing segregation and underrepresentation. He was the first non-white artist to have heavy rotation on MTV (Dwayne, 2016) and inspired other African Americans in the industry to break boundaries as well. He inspired these young African American entertainers to enter the industry despite the social injustices their culture faced. He broke down barriers of color and reinvented the possibilities in entertainment worldwide. In his own literary work ‘Moonwalk’ Jackson (1998) spoke that sometimes when you’re treated unfairly it makes you stronger and more determined. This exemplifies exactly why he was so inspirational to others worldwide. Fighting prejudice in the industry he adored only furthered his career and helped further other’s careers when they were not afraid to do what he did and show that African Americans could be entertainers too. Jackson is a beloved man among the world. He is said to have changed the world, being the first major black popstar post-civil rights. Like every other public figure, he had people that were not a fan of him, thinking he suffered the price of fame and gave his life to alcohol, drugs, and wild behavior. People will always be critics of his music and his decisions, however the majority of the world believed Jackson to be one of the greatest of all time. His talents were so impactful to the world of music, dance, fashion, and film. He was and still is recognized as a legend. Michael’s legion of fans remains as loyal today as they have ever been (Cadman & Halstead, 2007). His ideas and legend still live on in society today and I do not think they will ever die. His music and dance moves are still extremely popular and it is unlikely that people will forget them, and his ideals to impact the world in a positive way by spreading love and equality are still exercised as African Americans still suffer injustices today. Michael Jackson is a true legend that will not fade out.

On the dancing side of Michael Jackson and his legacy, he spoke volumes to what he believed dance does for people and the world; how it impacts people in such a positive way. He shared that “This world we live in is the dance of the creator. Dancers come and go in the twinkling of an eye, but the dance lives on” (Jackson, 1992). This metaphor is significant because it displays how much Jackson values dance. He believes that everything we do in our lives is a dance and movement of God, or the creator of the world. Even though people are born and die every day, the dance will never die because the world itself will not die. Jackson lives for dance and believes it fuels our lives. This also ties into to his philosophy of life that is love because dance is an expression of life and a way to express feelings and one’s self. Jackson believes in loving others and treating other equally, and in dance all are equal. Dance is a way that Jackson relays his purpose to others and helps others find happiness. This is why Jackson loved dancing so much and loved sharing his moves with the world. By spreading his legendary moves, people think of him, his dancing, his music, and his equal love for everyone. Dance may have been one platform in which he shared his abilities through, but it reflected many other aspects of life for which he preached about.

Being a dancer, researching and speaking about Michael Jackson left me inspired and wanting to go dance. If I had the opportunity to create a simple folk dance to reflect his philosophy, I would want to do it in a well-rounded way in order to give everything he stood for justice in the dance. The main concept of the dance would be a type of self-expression to reflect love in the world, not hate. It would be danced to a fun and upbeat song like ‘Billie Jean’; music that would make you just want to get up and move. My dance would involve a large group of dancers transitioning in and out of the stage to create visuals and continuous movement showing the diversity among the industry that is constantly changing and evolving. There would be a breakdown section with movement that was detailed and intricate and danced by a small group of people to show that dance, especially Michael Jackson’s, is simplistic but also complex. It would include a lot of movement with much going on, but also having a center focus just like the way Michael Jackson commanded his audience’s attention. The movement would be bold and big while also being controlled and synchronized. It would appeal to many different types of audiences such as black and white, gay and straight, young and old, etc., having the power to bring people together just like Jackson’s music and performances did. I would want the dance to show how much Michael Jackson impacted the dance world and those who are in it. He contributed so much to benefit others in the future and that is still shown in the industry today.

In conclusion, Michael Jackson was a man of many abilities and a significant influencer through his humble character and loving heart. He not only aimed to help people find happiness through dance and movement, but to also make happiness for others through love and equality. He showed how dynamic he was on the stage creating an excess of entertainment for people for generations. Yet he also showed how dynamic his personality was through his charitable efforts and social platform of love. Although he passed several years ago, his legacy will never pass as he still remains one of the most influential people of all time in pop culture. Peacemaking is not only restricted to humanitarian acts but extends to producing something that gives someone hope and happiness. Things such as songs, powerful lyrics, and dance moves can push someone to keep going in life or love someone equally, and that is what peacemaking is all about. Dance has the ability to move people in ways that are even stronger than written or spoken words. Anyone has the ability to make an impact in this world and my hope is that people use Michael Jackson as an example that you can do anything you set your mind to, no matter your skin color or your sexual identification. Michael Jackson influenced the world through his talents and graciousness, and he will forever live on as a peacemaker.

Lost Love in ‘The Raven’: Critical Essay

The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe is a poem about unhappiness and loss. The narrator tries to get away from despair and human mortality, trying to pass away into a kind of forgetfulness. The poem shows many different stages of mood which is sorrowful throughout; her beautiful beloved has died. Loneliness and distance as well as beauty and death are the themes in the poem. The speaker is harking back to the sweetness of her beloved, and also her untimely death. The speaker shouts come in the highest, ”Leave my loneliness unbroken! ” This line also helps him reflect upon himself. It’s surely an extended poem of eighteen stanzas comprising six lines each. The meter of the poem is trochaic octameter. The poem encompasses a supernatural and grave tone and has great imagery.

The repeating of the words ”nothing more” and ”nevermore” gives the poem a musical emphasis and emphasizes the rhyming pattern. The setting of the poem seems very spooky because the speakers live in an extremely lonely apartment. The fireplace is dying, and it’s a ”bleak December” night; employing a ”devil bird” sort of raven because it represents death and darkness. It’s a dreary night, the speaker is feeling ”weak and weary” and his pain by the loss of affection. Poe creates a creepy surrounding of horror and suspense. It’s dark, cold, late, and bleak; the rustling sound of the curtains is additionally sad for him. The part is about grieving the loss of her love, Lenore, whom he describes as ”the rare radiant maiden whom the angel’s name Lenore”, he’s visited by a mysterious bird that speaks, but only one word ”Nevermore”.When he hears some tapping within the house he’s startled and features a ”fantastic terrors never felt before” his ”soul grew stronger” and he calls dead set the visitors, thinking it’s Lenore but unexpectedly a raven. He describes the raven as ”Ghastly grim and ancient” which is the embodiment of grief. He wonders if the raven may be a devil or a prophet who can tell whether he and his beloved will ever meet in heaven; and if there is a ” Balm in Gilead,” meaning, the respite and hope within the long run to this the raven replies ” Nevermore” which is the only word it knows.

Every time the speaker asks or says something, the raven only responds by saying ‘Nevermore’. This word is used as a refrain at the highest end of each stanza, giving the lines a different meaning. The speaker assumes that the bird will flee like everyone else and leave him alone the following day. He is drowned in grief for her beloved, who isn’t anymore, and finds it difficult to beat the loss. Throughout the poem, we can see the speaker’s depression, and also the melancholy side is emphasized by the darkness of the cold night of December. With the speaker’s growing tension revealed in his thoughts and questions, the stanzas become more and more dramatic. Gradually within the poem, we observe that he becomes growingly upset both mentally and physically Some critics call the poem one of the bleakest poems written by Poe, thanks to the negative answers repeated throughout. The poet uses literary devices such as alliterations like ‘while’, ‘weak’, and ‘weary’ in the first line, which produces an impression of unsteadiness. The symbol used in the poem is that of the raven itself which features a dark and gloomy countenance, reasonably just like the narrator’s mental confusion. The Bust of Pallas is additionally symbolic of the goddess of Wisdom, and also the speaker’s beautiful chamber symbolizes the sweetness of her beloved, Lenore.

The narrator can’t avoid thinking of her beloved, and her memories just boost his pain and sorrow. It’s interesting to figure out within the poem how the raven stimulates his regret for Lenore, and he expresses his total grief through the medium of creatures that have no feelings or consciousness. The poet Edgar Allan Poe uses folk and classical references just as the bust of Pallas, nights Plutonian shore, Gilead, distant Aidenn, etc, the foremost theme of the poem as we can understand is that the undying love and devotion of the narrator towards her belove Lenore, whom he desires to both forget and remember at the same time. He experiences a conflict here that simply adds to his grief. This means some ambiguity within the status of the narrator because it reduces between forgetting and remembering. However, he wishes and hopes that he will unite with her beloved Lenore in heaven. But it is strange to note that despite missing her beloved so intensely, the poet does not describe Lenore well in the poem; the alternative themes in the poem are the death of a young beautiful woman and also the helplessness and grief of the narrator. The poem tells remarkable imagination and skillful command of the language which he uses so beautifully to bring out the larger meaning of the poem. He uses words like wear, bleak, dying, mystery, stillness, and grave which contribute to the final meaning melancholic tone of the poem. Its dramatic poem possesses a tragic element and expresses deep human pain of loss and affection.

Essay on “Importance of Love” in Marriage

What comes to mind when you hear the word love? That’s why people think of a particular person or many people in your family. Others may think of a song, movie, or book. Still, there may be people who think of memories, smells, and more abstract. Whatever your answer may be, what you believe in love tells a lot about who you are as a person. Therefore, it is natural that love has a great weight as the main theme of the Bible. But what kind of love does the Bible have? Is it the love God expresses to us, or is it the kind of love we want to express God? Or between parents and children? Is it the love we re-express that person? According to a survey conducted by the Department of Human Developmental Family Studies, people who are happily married regardless of age are rated as having higher health than unmarried people. Married spouses, for example, are also more likely to receive medical care. A Harvard University study found that married men live longer than divorced men and men who have never married. I think this is because when a married man becomes a committed relationship, it alleviates lifestyle (drinking, fighting, taking unnecessary risks, etc.). Brother’s Day ‘I fortunately love your sister and brother so much, and it’s no surprise that research shows that siblings can help you with your life. Friendship can come and go, but you are with your brothers and sisters. This relationship is often one of the longest relationships in a single life. 2. Brotherhood is authentic. Often, siblings grow up in the same environment, share the same parents, and share experiences similar to common memories. Brothers and sisters day 3. Our brothers and sisters are our family tree. They are part of us and that relationship is a shared history that cherishes this unique relationship. How will you promote and promote healthy brotherhood? – Let’s get started quickly. Parents encourage respect among siblings from the beginning. Do not tolerate harmful behavior in a sibling relationship. – Give children the opportunity to share their time and activities with you. If you pay attention to the competition between brothers and sisters and see that it is starting to occur, ‘take a shot’. – Show your personal preferences. This is probably the most common reason for brothers to resent. Tell the children that they care for their self by creating each child one-on-one. Please allow time to spend with your child. This helps them feel that they are being especially appreciated. – Set a family meeting time (every other week or monthly).

The whole family gathers to discuss complaints and congratulations. Siblings are essential to a child’s development. The benefits of a healthy sibling relationship can last a lifetime. Over the years, they can become cooperative friends.

Our Love for Our Pets

Today pet owners have been spending billions of dollars on their pets rather than welfare. Buckhard Bilger argues that Americans spend too much money on their pets. I agree with Bilger argument. Pet owners could be using their money differently and animals have a sense of knowing they won’t live for too long meaning we shouldn’t let them endure the extra pain they are going through.

According to Bilger, “Americans now spend $19 billion a year on veterinary care for their pets”. A particular consideration given is root canals. The people who are spending money to provide root canals could be using it for something that can help other things. They could use the money to feed homeless animals in shelters or supply health care for them. Not the entire 19 billion is wasted however; there are creatures that do have an incredible possibility of enduring and living extremely long as well. The money ought to go to those creatures not the ones who are very nearly demise.

At some point animals will encounter where they are incredibly sick and would be in an ideal situation euthanized. Some pet owners discover it’s hard to spend a great amount of money on their dearest pets to make sure they can live longer. “Every year, while pets like theirs are saved by the most elaborate means, some six million strays are put to sleep”, says Bilger. Pet owners should give nature a chance to take its natural way and let their pet pass in peace. They could save an animal’s life by adopting a new pet. Six million is an enormous number, and if each pet owner received a stray when their pet passed that number would drop drastically. They should not put their pets through more torment than they ought to need to understanding.

Pet owners say that they’ll do anything for pets because they love them. But they would take it too far. A friend of mine told me about her dog was sick. She told me how her dog vomited a lot and refused to eat. I also remembered how sad my friend looked when she explained that her dog didn’t have much time to spare. She also explained that her family would do anything to let their dog live longer. So, they would pay treatments for their dog. But my friend told me that she and her family had to let their dog go sooner or later because they loved him so much and didn’t want him to suffer anymore, so they put him to sleep.

Americans will do anything for their pets to stay alive even if they its cost too much. But they could be spending that money on aiding strays and charities. With that kind of money, stray animals’ lives can be changed.

Ideas And Themes In Their Eyes Were Watching God

Is it true love? “love is like the sea. It’s a moving thing, but still and all, it takes its shape from the shore it meets, and It’s different with every shore.” (Hurston 191). these words are often more important than some people thing about. In recent years, marriage rates declined, part as a result of young adults have waited longer to induce married, In line with according to psychological today. Three of the most important points from the book “Their eyes were watching God” are love and mislove, power and domination, and Inequality and discrimination through the novel. Zora Neale Hurston seminal 1937 novel “Their eyes were watching God” center around the protagonist Janie, and her tragic backstory addressing racism and sexism.

Zora Neale Hurston illustrates the theme of finding happiness and break away from the constraints of ancient role society demands for women in “Their eyes were watching god.”

As I mentioned before, one in each of the foremost themes inside the story is love and mislove, as shown above, each has a main purpose inside the story as a result of the protagonist Janie learns and grows from every past mistake relationship. Her life lessons are woven into the themes of love and ‘mislove.’ Janie invests her time reasoning concerning what she calls ‘mislove’ and love, after Joe’s death, her second husband, Janie is devastated after realizing that when her nanny made her marry her initial husband, Logan Killicks, an old, unattractive man which nanny saw him as security for Janie, it wasn’t of the particular undeniable fact that Janie was loving Logan, but due thanks to the actual fact that Nanny wasn’t loving her, but Nanny only wants Janie to marry Logan Killicks for the reason of she regards him as a good man who would treat Janie properly and make sure she’s safe. She doesn’t want her granddaughter to be left alone after she’s gone, in fact, Janie’s grandmother only wants to leave this world after making sure that her granddaughter, Janie, is living happily with her husband who would love her. Logan Killicks, Janie’s first husband, who which Nanny makes Janie marry because she values financial security and respectability over love, after a year of spoiling Janie with his riches, he tries to make Janie help him with farming work. with this in mind, Logan makes Janie feel used and unloved considering that what all Janie wants a different kind of love, one that starts with clean feet and trimmed toenails, for this cause, Janie leaves him for Jody Starks, Her second husband.

Second, another important theme in “Their eyes were watching God” is power and domination. This second major theme its seen through the novel. Janie’s second husband, Joe Starks, is a proud, ambitious, self-centered man. When Janie meets Joe, she’s enchanted with him due to the fact that instead of feeling broken- down, displeasure or angry that white men are in control, He instead comes with a conclusion to buy land and produce something or a concept that he can take manage or control. The town of Eatonville is like a monument to him and Joe executes an astonishing job in reference to evolving and expanding the community of black citizens that do the job for him and promote and praise Joe as their major of the town of Eatonville. With this in mind, Joe rejoices egoistically thinking about himself as their major, and how he’s arrogant or snobbish, along with feeling like he’s better and higher than the ‘trashy people’ he’s leading in the town. With this in mind, Joe’s most prized possessions, aside from having the town of Eatonville and being the major, is Janie and he shows this by trying to shape or create Janie into the “perfect” major’s wife by making her look a precise way and hold herself aside from others.
