Procrastination: The Main Thief Of The Time

Time is money, many people say time is life, actually. Time should be definitely the factor human beings appreciate the most, and while many may be aware of that, there are others that probably are not. Consequently, people do not use their time wisely, and they put things off as if they are sure time will not go by. It is exactly what a procrastinator does, that is to say, procrastination is an invisible enemy that steals a huge part of human’s lives in different matters.

Laziness is a common habit that affects people from all edges. This habit ends in deferment of activities or tasks; for example, a normal student tends to put activities off when he or she thinks there is enough time to submit them. Sadly, the student in this case uses his or her free time to do nothing for being a victim of laziness. It may seem simple, but its consequences make the person regret the time lost; in other words, they realize that they wasted the majority of the time they had thought they knew that they had a lot to do. In the same way, this phenomenon drives students to become mediocre in their duties. A lazy person would barely develop a good task of any type, for he or she will decide to postpone activities at the endless time to work. Consequently, laziness makes students lose not only time but also their skills as talented people lose their shine if they fall into this habit. For this reason, time should be used wisely, particularly in the educational area. Nevertheless, only some people understand the importance of it. The habit of laziness strongly affects people’s time when developing any task.

Overconfidence seems to be the principal reason why students decide to procrastinate in making their homework assignments. Many pupils decide to delay because they believe they can do the homework assignments later. Students prefer to invest their free time doing other things instead of spending it doing school tasks; besides, they usually think assignments are not important. A schoolchild who procrastinates says that homework can be easily done in just a matter of minutes, especially in this technological world we live in. She/he thinks it is not necessary to spend a lot of time doing the tasks as she/he just needs to look for it on the internet. When this happens, students get no knowledge since they just copy what they find on the websites and do not care about learning. An undergraduate who adjourns is not aware of the resources they must collect or do. These kinds of students tend to avoid analyzing the things they are going to need to do their projects. So, when the deadline comes, they do the assignments only with the things they have and usually get poor results. Undoubtedly, overconfidence is a serious problem that influences students to procrastinate in their assignments´ development.

The excessive use of social networks makes students procrastinate because they prefer to spend their time checking the internet instead of doing their homework assignments. Nowadays, students are plugged into technology, but in most cases, they do not do good use of it, and as a consequence, it distracts them from their academic responsibilities; thus, many times they prefer to postpone their assignments to the last moment, so they can have more time for the internet. Students realize the consequences when they see the bad results at school. Since they do everything at the last minute and in a hurry, they do not learn anything meaningful. Therefore, it is reflected in their performance inside the classroom. Besides, it also happens when studying for an exam, for they prefer to make just a review of everything so that they have more free time to surf on the internet. These kinds of guys are like that because they are never pushed by their parents to work hard. Certainly, the wasteful usage that students make of their social networks makes them put everything off, and therefore they do not accomplish their assignments.

Procrastination gets in trouble for young people because they are the ones who have free time therefore they do not take advantage of using it to learn something meaningful because of their laziness, Overconfidence, or the excessive use of social networks. All these phenomena steal the time of young people as they are also easy to persuade by anything. Undoubtedly, procrastination is a silent thief that has many ways of stealing time.

The Role Of Laziness

The most underrated virtue is Laziness. Some don’t consider it as a virtue but indeed it’s a virtue. Laziness is seen as the culprit of lack of success by many but lesser known that it is connected to efficiency. A lazy person may not be hard working but he can workout difficult things in a much simpler way. We tend to spend weeks, days and months to achieve our target but the same thing could be done in half of the time and is also the best possible solution.

Lazy people are not mentally lazy. They lack motivation to do things. Laziness become apparent to other people when we totally lose interest in doing things and the sloth inside us wakes up. The lazy group of people need a deadline to do things and when they within the deadline their work becomes highly appreciable. A regular hard working person may work in the usual manner but a lazy person can do things in a much more creative way. His work may be late but will be better than the rest. So laziness is a tool rather than a curse.

We all have willpower but willpower should be accompanied with tonnes of laziness. Without laziness we won’t be able to discover a efficient path. People do several thing without thinking about its use. But when we go deep into it, a question comes into a lazy person’s mind “Why am I doing this?” “Is it worth the time I am investing into it?”. A regular hard working man will never ever question. He will just do his job in the right time. Being a lazy person is a matter of courage also. We need to have the courage to question why is it important and if it not important then why am I wasting my time?

Being lazy is not bad. In fact everyone should be lazy in their lives. They should learn to question “WHY”?. Delegating work as much as possible. Do it with efficiency so you have times for other important things.

Don’t you think that being busy is overrated? Working hours and hours and sometimes pretending to be the busiest so that our boss gets impressed and award us the Best Employee of the Month. It is for sure overrated. It is better to be your own boss. And what the worse possible situation it can be. You won’t get the Employee of the month. To be true no one cares how many hours you are sincerely doing your work. Or how long it is taking to complete the work.

Why not work for the future version of you?

Laziness As An Underrated Virtue

Some don’t consider it as a virtue but indeed it’s a virtue. Laziness is seen as the one responsible for the lack of success but lesser known that it is connected to efficiency. A lazy person may not be hard working but he can workout difficult things in a much simpler way. We tend to spend weeks, days and months to achieve our target but the same thing could be done in half of the time and we don’t opt it because who would like to be called a Lazy Person?

Slothful people are not mentally lazy. They lack the motivation to do things. Laziness becomes obvious to other people when we lose interest in doing things and the sloth inside us wakes up. The lazy group of people needs a deadline to do things and when they within the deadline their work becomes highly appreciable. A regular hard working person may work in the usual manner but a lazy person can do things in a much more creative way. His work may be late but will be better than the rest. So laziness is a tool rather than a curse.

We all have the tenacity to do things but it should be accompanied with tonnes of laziness. Without laziness, we won’t be able to discover an efficient path. People do several things without thinking about their use. But when we go deep into it, a question comes into a lazy person’s mind “Why am I doing this?” “Is it worth the time I am investing in it?”. To be true no one cares how many hours you are sincerely doing your work. Or how long it is taking to complete the work.

Why not work for the future version of you? It is the company’s policy to look busy all the time. Why can’t we just do things which we do better? Why our boss can smell from far away that we are busy or not. Being busy is so important that we become anxious to get busy and obviously under pressure we can’t our true self. Therefore our work lacks quality.

For all the busy people out there, let’s be honest “When we see a person relaxing and not so “busy” with their work we slightly get jealous”. So it is us who can be lazy and slouch around and be the best. Being on the top doesn’t mean you have to tire yourself out at the end of the day. Work can also be done by the LAZIEST SOLUTION POSSIBLE.

The Effects Of Laziness On Human Development

Laziness is something that affects all of us at some point or another and for us as muslims it is something serious and shouldn’t be taken lightly, especially when it comes to acts of worship. Sadly. It is something that is being overlooked in the muslim society today. AIMS & OBJECTIVES My aim is enlightened you about ‘Laziness’ or kasal which is something that should not be taken lightly especially when it comes to religion. We all know as muslims we should always be steadfast in our duties towards Allah (swt). Moreover, I would like to take this time to elaborate on this topic since it is something that affects all of at some point. BODY What is laziness? This term maybe defined as ‘indolence’ where we are disinclination to activities, having the ability to act or to exert oneself. This is where we lack of ability. Laziness may be considering a habit rather than a mental health issue . It shows the decrease level of motivation in oneself and caused by distraction. We normally think that personal laziness as the feeling of not wanting to do something even though we should.

This normally works with mindset. In surah Nisa verses 142 Allah mentions: “Verily, the hypocrites seek to deceive Allah, but it is He who deceives them. And when they stand up for salaah, they stand with laziness and stand to be stand by men, and they do not remember Allah but little.” This ayah is simply explaining when Allah mention in the ayah, (And when they stand up for Salah, they stand with laziness). This is the characteristic of the hypocrites with the most honored, best and righteous act of worship, the prayer. When they stand for prayer, they stand in laziness because they neither truly intend to perform it nor do they believe in it, have humility in it, or understand it. This is the description of their outward attitude! As for their hearts, Allah said, (and stand to be seen of men) meaning, they do not have sincerity when worshipping Allah. Rather, they show off to people so that they gain closeness to them. They are often absent from the prayers that they can hide away from, such as the `Isha’ prayer and the Dawn prayer that are prayed in darkness. And the last part where he mentioned, (And they do not remember Allah but little) means, during the prayer they do not feel humbleness or pay attention to what they are reciting.

Rather, during their prayer, they are inattentive, jesting and avoid the good that they are meant to receive from prayer. Abu Hurairah narrates that the Rasul (S.A) said: “Satan puts three knots at the back of the head of any of you who is asleep. On every knot he reads and exhales the following words:” the night is long so stay asleep,” when one wakes up and remembers Allah the one knot is undone, and when one preforms ablution (wudhu) the second knot is undone and when one prays the third knot is undone and one gets up with a good heart in the morning; otherwise one gets up lazy and with a mischievous heart.”

HOW LAZINESS AFFECTS US

How laziness affects us as students- we all know as students we get homework to see how well we understand what is being thought but then laziness takes over for example the teacher gives vocabs to learns, you make the mindset to do it but when the time comes you become lackadaisical and want to leave it for some other time.

Laziness towards the act of worship- this the laziness towards reciting of the Quran, praying , fasting etc. This where we think the world is leaving us. For example, we spend hours upon hours viewing tv shows and salat time comes in we tend to feel lazy and say “oh I will do that later, but in reality that later never comes and we are still watching movie not tired or lazy at all.

Laziness towards oneself- this is where we just forget about everything commit to oneself and do as we please whenever we please.

TIPS TOWARDS OVERCOMING LAZINESS

Time is relative. In such cases we should try to indulge ourselves in activities, or occupy our self in things which will help us to have the mindset to keep going. We as muslims should be accountable for each and everything we do. Laziness shouldn’t be an act which we turn to and forget the realistic purpose of being here in this world. We don’t want to be asking ourselves what were we doing in all this time and should have done this at that time. If a man does not know how precious time is ,he would have wasted his life. Allah (swt) has given us time for everything and may he safeguard us from sins that we are committing.

  • Surround yourself with righteous people
  • Don’t make excuses
  • Fight your yawns
  • Recite duaas

CONCLUSION

In conclusion we as student should be considerate in what they do. Allah knows what there is that we can and can’t do .Furthermore on the day of judgement we don’t want to be consider hypocrites but want to be happy standing by our Nabi (s.w.s). May Allah (swt) be pleased with us. Ameen.

Research Essay: Social Media on Laziness

Is social networking a benefit to society? Many consider these to be an accurate statement. Social networking means to browse through the internet for general interactions with people. I believe social media is not a benefit to society, because it credits lies and allows them to spread faster than the truth, develops a space for laziness, and makes it easier for bad people to acquire your personal information and use it against you.

Social networking enables the spread of lies through the internet faster than it spreads the truth. A story published in the journal Science found that lies spread six times as much faster than the truth on social media. Not only that but, 64% of people that use Twitter for news say they discovered something interesting one day and later they found it wasn’t true. This creates an environment of untrustiness. It may also cause one to retweet something that wasn’t true, accidentally starting a continuous chain of lies to spread.

Social media not only creates an unreliable environment but also causes a student to get lazy with their work. A survey of internet users aged 16-4 found the average time wasted to be 1.72 hours accounting for 28% of total time spent. Local college students’ grades dropped by 0.12 points for every 93 minutes above 106 minutes spent on social media a day. The time passed on social media increases the more you look thanks to how addicting it is. The more time you spend the lazier you get and the more time you waste. These typically cause your GPA to decrease gradually.

Social media is also unreliable to carefully keep your personal information safe. Social media sites do not check private messages for viruses or phishing scans, causing large-scale problems like viruses. Even worse nothing can be deleted or covered up. Nothing on social media is temporary, anyone can discover anything you previously believed you deleted. Not only that but hackers can obtain money from you by manipulating the personal information you typically share or hide under private messages.

Some would say social networking opens you up to more information, faster and simpler ways of finding it, and easier methods to talk to people. Being open to all of these is a good thing unless you don’t know how to utilize it correctly. These are what may cause lower test scores. Students who typically use social media have a standard GPA of 3.06 versus non-users who have an average GPA of 3.82. These are proof that the media causes one’s grade to drop at apparent ease.

In conclusion, social media has a harmful impact on the self. It can steer you to become a lazy individual and cause you to believe in lies that people keep spreading like wildfire. It’s risky and can typically lead to bankruptcy which is terrible for a person’s commonwealth. I don’t have much against the internet but when it inevitably comes to reliability it doesn’t help much. That is precisely why it is unhealthy for you and why you shouldn’t utilize it too much.
