Professor instructions:
Choose two poems and write a 3-page-long essay in which you engage with both poems and compare them.
Analyze the poems themselves, compare the two, and explore how they deal with different personal and social issues. Think about how they use language creatively, how they use imagery and sound. Use evidence from the poems to support your arguments, and if you find it is relevant, you can also quote any of the texts you have read for this course.
This is an opportunity to develop the initial notes that you made into fully-formed ideas and arguments that connect the poems to each other and to the themes of the class.
Read the poems a few times before you begin writing, and again once you have started working on the essay. It is impossible to extract everyting from a poem in a single or a couple of readings. Going over the poem again and lingering over certain words and certain lines will help you extract subtle meanings that you may have missed before.
Use Times New Roman font, 12 points, 2.0 line-spacing.

Start by opening the “How to Read a Poem” link in Contents – Week 8. Read through it carefully. It will be useful for the rest of the assignment and for next week’s discussions.
1. Carefully annotate all of the poems in the pdf on Brightspace (Contents – Week 8). Mark anything you find interesting, striking, strange, etc. Take not of any connections you can between the poems and the themes and issues that have come up in class thus far. Remember to bring your notes next time the class meets.
2. Choose one poem from the collection that especially draws your attention and write a couple paragraphs of analysis about it, highlighting what it is that you find important.
Here are the instruction of the assignment youjust need to answer the second question the pdf is attched.

Look carefully at all the images. Spend some time with each one. At this point y

Look carefully at all the images. Spend some time with each one. At this point you need to move beyond the speed of “browsing” (something we do all the time in out digitally-mediated lives) to engage in “close looking” (something that requires us to slow down).
Take some notes about each image. Make sure you pay attention to the information about when and where the work of art was made. Click on the link below each image, which will lead you to the online source and sometimes to further information and more images by the same artist. For your notes, think of questions such as: What does the artwork make you think? What does it make you feel? What aspects of the image do you think are making you react in the way you do? How does it connect to other images in the collection or other images you have seen elsewhere? Why do you think this particular image could be considered important for Latin American art? Remember that your notes can also include new questions, not only answers.
Now do some exploring with the links from the last two pages of the pdf. The first slide of links has online exhibits and the second slide has links to a few museums from across Latin America that have Google Arts and Culture collections.
Once you have finished viewing and taking notes, do the following:
1. Choose one image from the pdf and use your notes to write a couple of paragraphs in which you analyze and reflect on every aspect of the image you can think of. Remember that it takes time to engage in “close looking.” If you feel like you are running out of ideas, go back and read the questions that I suggested for you to make notes on (“What does the artwork make you think? What does it make you feel? What aspects of the image do you think are making you react in the way you do? How does it connect to other images in the collection or other images you have seen elsewhere? Why do you think this particular image could be considered important for Latin American art?”)
2. Now go back to the collection and choose two or more images that have something interesting in common. What is it that they share? (it does not have to be subject-matter, it can be something as abstract as the effect they have on you when you look at them). Write about what it is that connects those images. Is your experience of the images in any way deeper when you think about them together as opposed to on their own.
Just answer the 2 questions as appropriate as possible, don’t worry about making notes.

Teacher’s Instructions
In class we have discussed the “colonial legacy” of Latin

Teacher’s Instructions
In class we have discussed the “colonial legacy” of Latin America, which is a term that refers to how European conquest and colonization in the 16th and 17th centuries affected and continue to affect Latin American society today.
You have also read, in the texts assigned for class, about different long-terms effects of that colonial legacy, and about how having been a European colony affects views on class, race, gender, property, work, identity (and many other aspects of society) today.
With this in mind, write an essay in which you develop a well-argued and evidence-based answer to the following question:
What is the relationship between the colonial legacy of Latin America and current inequality in Latin American societies?
(NOTE: “Inequality” refers to the phenomenon of unequal and/or unjust distribution of resources and opportunities among members of a given society)
Make sure to include quotes as supporting evidence of your argument from at least two of the readings (or viewings or listening of audio recordings) that you have done so far for class. You can choose to focus on a specific country or region, or if you prefer you can compare examples from across Latin America.
Your essay should be 3 pages long, Times New Roman font, 12 points, 2.0 line-spacing
My INSTRUCTIONS
In my essay I want to discuss how discrimination occurs on color and gender inequality. I have attached 4 files, you can use only 2 or 3 of these readings. I have attached 1. A question of color, 2. On men’s Hypocrisy 3. In women’s hand 4. Growing up black in minas Gerais. You can attempt to comprehend the teacher’s instructions, which are listed above, and the questions you must answer in your essay. Ensure that citations are included.

You will select two artists from the list below and analyze at least one or more

You will select two artists from the list below and analyze at least one or more

You will select two artists from the list below and analyze at least one or more artworks that each has created, specifically commenting on their use of Ancient Latin American imagery/symbols and influences. You may select more than one artwork to discuss if you want to talk about themes that are present in multiple examples of their work. You can search the web for information about the artist and their works but please include the citation at the end of the analysis. Wikipedia is ok.
It is important to consider the questions; What aspects of Ancient Latin American art have influenced this artist? Or how and why has this artist incorporated or responded to Ancient Latin American imagery in their work? In other words, what is the artist trying to say? How does the artist relate their own cultural identity to Ancient Latin American cultural practices, images, symbols, materials, shapes, etc?
Essays should be 350-500 words (can go over word limit)
