A experience by way of using boat is very fantastic as nicely as interesting. At the equal time it is some element like a thrilling adventure to man living in a city. Pent up in a noisy and crowded town like Dhaka, I naturally jumped at the recommendation of some of my pals’ contemplation for a time out with the aid of boat.

We commenced our ride at 12 noon. The boatman commenced to row the boat and the boat used to be as soon as transferring swiftly. Gentle breeze used to be blowing. The small waves had been beating in opposition to it. The ripples of the river made a candy murmuring sound. While passing through, we loved the attractive attractions on each the factors of the river. At about three p.m. our boat touches the ghat of a village market. We acquired down from the boat and sold a big ‘hilsha fish’. The boatman cooked it and we had an awesome meal. After resting for a while, we started out our experience again. Then the night got here with all its beauties and glories. The last rays of the setting solar mirrored on the calm water that extra appropriate the beauty or the river extra affluently. We bought on the roof of the boat and loved the grand sight of the nature. The crimson rays of the setting photo voltaic delivered to the splendor of the green fields charmed us. After a seven-hour trip, we reached Munshigonj ghat at about 6 p.m. Some of our friends have been geared up for us at the ghat. They accorded us a hearty reception.

We spent a blissful time with them. After a lapse of about two hours, we as soon as extra bought into the boat and began out our journey. Our return trip used to be equally pleasant. The boat was once passing very gently. It used to be a moon-lit night. All my pals got here out of the boat and sat on the roof. The moon’s beam flooded the complete river and filled it with extraordinary beauty. Out of joy one of my friends commenced singing a sweet song. I wondering I used to be in a dream land where entirely joy and splendor reign. The boatman also commenced out to sing: “Row, row, row, the boat, gently down the stream, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream”. A Week in Morocco: My Perfect Journey

I had a fantastic experience on my last journey. I spent two weeks in Morocco, a place with many incredible things to see. In this article I am going to share my experience.

My first stop was Casablanca, which is known as the economic capital of the country. I had two days to discover the city are enough. The Hassan II Mosque is a must-see. In that case, day two, I go to the beach. I liked the Atlantic. After a seafood lunch, I flew to Essaouira by plane. The town itself was beautiful, and I had a camel ride. Morocco is a nation for picture takers, and I saw photographs, all things considered, the time — brilliant medinas, dynamic markets, intriguing design, and fantastic camel bands through the desert. Afterward, the third city was Marrakech, which is identifying as the red city. This city is the most attractive area for tourists; at lunch I ate ‘tanjia’. Most police officers speak English very well. The next day I moved to the Majorelle Garden.

Taking transports in Morocco was a simple and advantageous approach to travel. The tickets are generally modest, the timetables are appropriate for explorers, and the carriers we took were new and agreeable. The adventure from Fez to Chefchaouen, the famous blue city, is just a couple of hours long. Furthermore, I spent most of the time walking around the souks eating delicious Moroccan food. Make sure to walk around Jemaa el-Fnaa; you will see snack charmers. Moreover, Chefchaouen, a city known as the blue city, I had dreamed of seeing this town before coming. What is more, the attractions are everywhere here. I fell in love with bright-blue buildings. Chefchaouen is even pretty at night. In all honesty, Medina is enormous, and so you can walk around for hours without feeling boring. And I was walking and drinking ATAY. Also, I was getting around Rabat by tram easy. Rabat has a mini-blue city, Kasbah of the Udayas.

Morocco has a long history. At a certain point, it was a piece of the Roman Empire; it’s been home to traveling people groups for centuries, and it has proceeded to impact a few different societies. This city has many hotels, small hotels and riads are too available further make assured to drink lots of water when you travel to the desert.

I can talk from my involvement. However, I realize that my personal experience improved by making an effort not to do everything all alone.

In summary, I had a wonderful experience during my journey to this lovely desert village.

My Inspiring Journey to Ancient Place in Ethiopia

The first time I listened to this music was way back in 2011 when I and my grandma was on a journey to an ancient place in Ethiopia. The people who live there are mostly not familiar with modern music instruments. They use their own musical instruments and it very fascinating that these people live in their own way. I found it interesting when I first landed at this place and the music that I heard at the moment. Even though I don’t know a word of what they were saying and not being familiar with their language, I was amazed and inspired by the songs that they sing. Hammer is one of the most remote places on earth.

My grandma and I traveled almost four thousand miles to a remote corner of the southern region of Ethiopia. We spent a couple of weeks with the Hammers a tribe of shepherds and farmers who live in the plains of the Omo Valley. This place is filled with amazing views and the beauty of the people who live in this place is very interesting. The first time when my grandma and I arrived in this place we saw women being whipped as a celebration of tradition. The reason why I visited this place was I felt my grandma wanted to go on a journey to this place. She always asks herself if she is happy and could carry on with her life. Our journey starts with a two-day drive from the capital city of Ethiopia Addis Ababa. We head down to the lush highlands and to the hot plains in Ethiopia.

The place is very dry and hot which makes it hard for animals and people to survive in this place. The people in this place live side by side in huts. Women and men have different roles in this place. Mostly the men herd goats and cattle and are often away for days looking for grazing land. While the women look after their household, raising children, collecting wood and water, grinding flour and cooking. I and my grandma stayed with these people for two weeks and learned more about the people, their traditions, and their lifestyle. The people in the hammer are incredible socially. More than twenty people live inside one hut and that makes the hammer people unique socially. I remember the evening we arrive the men gather around and give us a traditional welcome. They sing a song that I have ever heard in my life before.

They sing a song with words we don’t even know. We enjoyed the music and the instruments they were using. Every task they do ends up being a social occasion. We saw so many fascinating things that we didn’t expect that would exist. The hammer women’s cut each other to make themselves more attractive which leaves them with a scar over their shoulders and back. Women being whipped is an integral part of the tribe’s culture. Females prove their loyalty to their family by being whipped. The other most fascinating thing I noticed was that all the cooking is done on open fires which fetching fire is a daily chore for the tribe. They walk more than three hours to collect wood for cooking purposes. On our journey at the hammer, my grandma and I had to get used to lots of things which was very difficult for us and was challenging. Things like this don’t happen very often and we were proud to see this place and experience a whole new world with things that we are not used to and find it very challenging.

On our two weeks’ stay in this place, the people killed a goat for us as an honor and gathering against and people eating together. Things like this are very important for this tribe in order for the people to be socially active and keep their tribe in the way it is supposed to be. The other thing that I found interesting was a cattle jump. Hundreds of people gather around to a cattle jump, which is an age ceremony. If the teenage boy jumps over a row of cattle, they believe that the teenage boy has emerged as a man and is ready to get married. While the teenage girl will be put in something that’s alien and brutal. The teenage girl’s mother will put butter on her daughters back which they believe that it will help reduce the pain of the whipping. The women’s dance by demanding to a group of young men. The reality behind wiping is that the more the girl gets whipped the more she shows loyalty to her family.

The teenage boy has to jump over the cattle back four times in a row in order for him to complete his competition. Once he jumps over the cattle back four times in a row the teenage boy is considered as a man and his strong enough to bond his family. Once the competition is over the people will return to the huts and their life will return to normal.

One thing that makes their music and culture different from any other tribe in the world is that these people are very kind and have their own way of living and doing things. It is so unique and very interesting to see these kinds of tribes exist in the world and I am honored to experience this in my life during my amazing journey with my grandmother.

Essay about the Importance of Travelling

Why do we need to travel? Well, this is quite an unfathomable question —only because we can’t really answer it, no matter how much we study about it. Although I have not traveled much in my busy daily life over the years, I have developed an understanding of the importance of traveling. In this essay, I want to share my beliefs.

The first experience of me traveling is that it gives us peace of mind. It opens us to a new and wider diaspora from what we have been living in. Traveling broaden the horizons. Traveling will give you a new perspective on life. Have we ever imagined the other side of the coin unless we turned it upside down? No. So, you can only experience the way of life in different places only when you see it yourself. What you have followed and practiced is what you have been taught, but you still learn the different page only if you travel. The new place and the new environment will obviously help you discover and consider newer and better ideas you hadn’t thought of it before. After every travel, we will enrich ourselves with better ideas, some better knowledge, and understanding. Once I read somewhere, “Traveling is one great form of learning”. Yes, indeed traveling is the most successful method of learning without books. The books will showcase how to react out in the world, but traveling will test you with all those ground realities. Traveling will teach you history, geography, sociology language and culture, as well as life lessons in each newer place you travel. As every new place will have a new and unique identity. By traveling to new places, people, and cultures, you’ll always cultivate a broader view of the world we live in. Travel is a smarter form of education.

In addition, traveling is important as a great relief from all the stress and despondency that come along with our daily schedule. A restful vacation is just what we need to renew ourselves. As for me, I am working in a city area, so when I get to travel, I always love to get to the hills or the snowcapped mountains for a trek. What I expect when I travel is something different from what I see or meet every day: a nice bright sun and a bright blue sky, nicer scenery, and meeting and experiencing newer people from what I have around. May be kicking a soccer ball just around with the local kids. This gives me an immense amount of throttle which I cannot do and get at my workplace or home. Hence, traveling is beneficial, particularly for workaholics, who just cannot ignore or leave their job behind. Sometimes moving away from the regular workplace is good for both mental and physical health. Travel is the best possible medication for being stressed out.

Traveling sometimes can be more than just getting out of our daily routine. Traveling sometimes can be both taking a break from work and getting along with your friends and family. Traveling along with friends and family will strengthen the bonds. Whether it is a short weekend family getaway, a romantic trip, or a long weekend with friends, important bonds can be strengthened. And especially in a culturally bound country like ours, traveling with friends and family will even make better social respect and bonding. The longer you don’t meet, the larger and weaker will be the bonding. In today’s time, friends and families are scattered all over the world, so they can’t see each other for a long period, and it definitely demands that families travel.

Getting back home on festivals like Christmas, Dashian, or Chath will not only make you feel happy and relaxed but also it will help to strengthen the bonding between the families. Sharing a childhood game story at a place in your village or hometown with your old friends will give you ecstasy for a few more years. Traveling no doubt is an occasion to connect with each other. Traveling at some best times might even relinquish any family grudges and build healthier and happier family relationships.

One famous Hindi language says that even a dog can be a lion in its place. Doing all those things you have been doing and repetition of the same – you could be the master of it. But what if a new environment and a newer challenge? So, to acknowledge newer problems and new challenges, you need to different places. Traveling is the ideal thing how to test yourself. It pushes us above our limits and gets us outside our comfort zone. You will get to know how much of a caliber you are when you are in a new place with new people and a new mindset. When you get successful in adjusting yourself within the newer environment, then the pride you receive within yourself will be bigger than the Oscar or a Nobel Prize. It will also prepare you for future challenges and opportunities with confidence. Traveling to places where you do not know a person at all will assist you to gain confidence and have the presence of mind. Just like watching ‘Man vs. Wild’ of Bear Gills on the Discovery Channel. You will develop the ability to cope with obstacles, which will make you a confident person. While traveling, you will find yourself stuck in situations where things don’t always go as planned. Such situations will help you learn to cope with the uncertainties in life. Traveling is one of the best ways to learn more about yourself. Every day traveling brings a new set of issues and opportunities. The way you handle those also gives you an insight into who you are. You’ll come home knowing yourself better and with a fresh perspective on what you want out of life. The experience will change your life.

Take that ‘child inside you’. Even at the eldest phase of your life, you will always love to sing, dance, kick a ball, swim, play a swing, or go down to a club and have a shakedown of your hips. All we ever want is to have fun. The best option for having fun is traveling. When you travel, you do not care what you do at all, and you can just break free from the norm. You might have always complained about the type of food you have been served at home, niggled about the roads and the government of your town, and bargained at the workplace for better opportunities. You will only realize the importance of a cup of warm water when you are at the altitude of a mountain. You will only realize the importance of a muddy road or bumpy traffic when you have to carry a load of your needs at a trek. You will only realize the importance of what you have when you have to live without having them to see. Your eyes aren’t open to what’s really special about your home or workplace. Exploring another place will give you a fresh appreciation for your hometown, country, and ‘real life’. Once you’re back, you’ll feel lucky to live and work where you do, and even post the status ‘back to home sweet home’ or ‘back to work’ on the social media walls.

One of the main benefits of traveling is that you learn how to communicate better with other people. Have you ever tried asking for directions to your hotel from a random person when you don’t know how to speak their language? This is how you can improvise yourself. Traveling will teach you new and better tricks and processes in a different way in whatever difficult situations. It is often said and believed that if someone gets out of their comfort zone, the mind gets more creative. To develop new neural connections that trigger original and creative thoughts, you must explore new places and break out of your daily routine. Traveling also makes you smart and makes you more confident. When you get to meet new people and new cultures, new experiences and stories, you become more social. This is more authentic in the age of Facebook and Instagram.

And finally, what makes traveling so important is that it helps to create memories. Memories are more priceless than a Rolex or a Ferrari. It’s better to spend on traveling than on buying materialistic things. Make memories and these are the most valuable wealth you ever earn. Share memories and this is the best ever kindness you can offer. You forget meetings and the talks you make, but the memories you make are imperishable.

Summing up, I am convinced that traveling is incredibly important in life. We should all remember that we only live once and start traveling to different places and getting unforgettable experiences. Accept new challenges. Be it for happiness, be it for escaping from your routine, be it a celebration, be it for fun, be it for adventure, be it for business, be it for study, be it for nothing. Who knows the other side of the world has a better fortune for us.

Journey Where I Found My Purpose in Life

“The cities, the roads, the countryside, the people I meet – they all begin to blur. I tell myself I am searching for something. But more and more, it feels like I am wandering, waiting for something to happen to me, something that will change everything, something that my whole life has been leading up to”.

I couldn’t relate myself to anything better than these lines from ‘And the Mountain Echoed’ by Khaled Hosseini. If everybody has a purpose in life, what is mine? How and when will I know my purpose on this earth? Will I be taking my last numbered breaths by the time I understand my purpose or will I die not knowing my purpose? These questions anguished me for a long time.

I was someone who was very indecisive when it came to choosing courses for graduation. I could not decide which subject to take up for college because my heart had no answers. I knew that whatever field I chose now would affect my life afterwards. I really felt the need to know my purpose in life but nothing was striking. It wasn’t until my sisters and I decided to travel to one of the famous destinations in Nepal, Pokhara that I found my answers.

Few months back, my two sisters and I decided to travel to the western part of our country. We were exhilarated just by the thought of having a chance to spend time with each other away from home. With some pleading and promising, our parents agreed to our journey. With their permission, we started planning for it and it was a success. Our destination was Pokhara.

Pokhara is very bohemian and many hippies and yogis venture here even with their children. This place is laid back and has a slow pace of life. This city is known for its lush surroundings and great Fewa Lake, it is a beautiful city enveloped by the Annapurna mountains and makes this city a popular destination for trekkers who fancy something different to the Everest base camp.

During our stay there, the weather changed from hot and sticky to full on torrential rain and the loudest, most beautiful thunderstorm we had ever seen. But within 30 minutes, the storm passed and it was gorgeously airy and warm again. The same thing happened throughout our five days of stay there, then it started concerning me. It was very unusual to have such irregular rain in Pokhara in the month of November, which was actually supposed to be the dry month. According to the locals, these frequent weather changes started few years back when the major urbanization and industrialization programs were taking place. The natural cycle was getting disrupted by the increased amount of pollution and decreased number of vegetations.

The Pokhara city that I had seen and had known as a child was changing. The lake was getting smaller, much dirtier. The lakeside areas were getting congested. It used to be the escape place for the people from different cities, especially Kathmandu, from the pollution and dirt that the capital is filled with. Later on, I could see it turning into Kathmandu and it concerned me.

After looking at the deteriorating state of Pokhara, I realized that this was in fact a global issue. Pokhara is just a tiny example of what’s happening worldwide. It made me question our actions and how it’s affecting other unimpeachable species. Curiosity regarding the interaction between nature with man and other species rose in me. It was then, when I realized my purpose in life. I wanted to contribute to the nature for the life it gave me. I discerned my duty as a global citizen and decided to submit my time and effort studying and preserving the nature. That’s how I decided to pursue environmental science because I finally understood what I wanted to do with my life.

The Most Memorable Journey of My Life

There is nothing better than the novelty experiences one can get from setting out on an adventure. Time off from our daily life helps us to forget about our everyday issues. In this essay I want to talk about the most memorable journey of my life.

It began at home as we packed things for an exciting trip for our anniversary. We already booked the hotel room and made a bucket list of exciting places to visit. We were so energized in light of the fact that my wife and I were going to Bali. This was our first overseas trip after our four years of marriage and the most intriguing spot to us. We could not imagine what it would have resembled. Our flights were flying through Sydney, Australia. We deliberately had 12 hours long stay is Sydney while transiting through Australia. Sydney is also one of our favorite holiday destinations. We aimed to make most out of this trip. So, we planned to visit the iconic Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and the Luna Park. You can get on a train from the international airport straight to the Opera House and then from there you can take a cruise to the Harbour Bridge and the Luna Park. They are close to each other. First, we had some finger licking food at one of the restaurants around the Opera House and then climbed up on the Harbour Bridge to see the spectacular views of the Sydney city. We were reluctant to leave the Harbour Bridge and its mesmerizing views but we were also very excited to enjoy rides in the Luna Park. We spent a great 6 hours and had an unforgettable time. We got back to the airport just in time to catch the connecting flight to Bali. We were so excited to reach to the next destination as soon as possible. We did not realize how time flew away while talking about Sydney’s beauty. In the blink of an eye, we reached to Bali in the dusk.

We had a marvelous experience when we got out of the airport to enter Bali. It was the tropical, wet, hot air which was our desirable weather. We arrived at our hotel on the north of Bali. Natural magnificent beauty seemed to be all around us. One side of the road there was the rich greenery of the tropical forest, from the other there were dark waves of the ocean. We chose to go through our first days on a comfortable hotel, which was just on the seashore, and take a rest from tedious jetlag. The climate was awesome. The day was sunny and the water was so warm, peaceful. The panoramic view of the beach was amazing. The regular day to day existence of urban life cannot be better than nice and warm weather in rural town Ubud. We were getting a charge out of each moment of our rest, gradually tasting mocktails on the beach. The day was changing and starting with one then onto the next with new, splendid, extraordinary feelings and unforgettable moments. Next morning at 3 am, we were ready to witness the sunrise on Mount Batur. It is almost 2 km high mountain and takes about 2.5 hours to climb all the way up. It was really hard to climb up the mountain but it all paid off when the sun rose. We gazed with open-mouthed. It was one the best sunrise I have ever seen in my life. It was dazzling and breath-taking beauty of nature. We enjoyed the next couple of days by seeing the Monkey Forest and the rice farm. That experience was quite unique for us. Ubud was the best place to experience Bali’s rural life, Balinese culture, and tradition. It also the best place to enjoy Balinese delicacies. Subsequently, on the 4th day, we were so excited to experience Bali’s urban life.

So, our next destination was Seminyak, Kuta. The weather was quite hot in Kuta. Unfortunately, we did not expect that we are also going to have a very unpleasant experience there. Actually, we online booked an apartment through Air BNB. However, it was not good enough as they had mentioned on their website and the room’s air conditioner was not working at all. It was really hard to survive there without the air conditioner. In the beginning, he was not coming with any satisfactory outcomes. End up we had to talk to their head office. No one wants to have bad reviews for their business. Subsequently, we got transferred to a new better accommodation after having an argy-bargy with apartment’s supervisor. We planned to take our holiday trip to next level. Therefore, we rented a motorbike instead of a taxi. We decided to pass the entire day away on a motorbike, studying Seminyak, Kuta. We managed to see half of the city by riding along the coast and our trip took a whole day. The views we saw while riding a bike showed us another side of local life. The traffic in Kuta was extremely busy and noisy. A lot of people ride motorbikes there, which is one of the distinguishing features of Bali. We spent our last evening at the beach with a delicious dinner and a remarkable sunset.

It is strange how time flies when we are on holidays. It was a literally sad realization when we knew we needed to go back home. The emotional feelings swept over my mind. It was not easy to leave an extraordinary atmosphere of the best hospitality and calmness. We had no other choice. Finally, we returned home with new freshness in our moods and I can happily say that it was the best journey of my life.

Essay on Benefits of Travelling

Travelling has tremendous educative, informative and social value. It helps people enhance to their mental ability, improve their health condition and learn about an unfamiliar culture, including their food, practices, and beliefs, which compel us to see past our tunneled vision of perception. Moreover, with the help of traveling, we can spend quality time with our family and friends. There are numerous benefits of traveling. The main major benefit of traveling is gaining knowledge about a different culture by meeting with different religious people and visitors. Apart from this, we can learn a different language while traveling in different countries like (France, Germany, Spain, etcetera). To exemplify, when I came from India to Canada. I met with one woman who belongs to Scotland. She told me about their own culture like how to live and how to nurturement of their children. After that, she told me about the traditional dishes of their country. She said that the famous dish is haggis. Despite that, at that time, I am very happy and felt very lucky to know about the culture of Scotland. Then, I decided that in the future I will go to Scotland with my family.

Apart from that, while traveling we can spend quality time with family and friends and go to some different places for roaming like(Golden Temple, Taj Mahal, Qutab Minar, Wonderland, etcetera). By roaming, we can learn about historical things and do thrilling and adventurous things and give relaxation to our minds. I will discuss my own life experience, Three months ago I went to Chandigarh with friends because I felt very tired and bored So, we planned to go to some different place then, I will decide to go to Chandigarh. Then, we will be ready for going to that place. The next day, we reached the bus stop and waited for the bus. Instantly, I saw the old lady pick a heavy bag on my head and I will to go lady and help her and she gave me to bless. At that time I am very happy and peaceful then, I and my friend sited on the bus and wait for our destination for a place. After three hours, we reached the destination place. Firstly, we took a rest and then, go to the Garden in that place I learn about different flowers like (roses, sunflowers, Amaryllis, and Lily). When I saw the flower and water fountain at that time my mind was relaxed. So “It is truly said that Mile a minute”.

Process Analysis Essay on Commuting

How wonderful would it be to work from home every day? Sometimes what looks to be a blessing may just be a curse. Taking the leap to work remotely requires time, patience, and a lot of research to be successful. What kind of answers do you need before you make a commitment to telecommuting? Can you maintain a constant flow of communication? Where would you save money? Do you have the desire to put forth the additional effort it would take to advance within your field? Telecommuting is a significant process because it requires massive amounts of communication, it may or may not save employers/employees money, and it requires additional effort to effectively train home-based employees, so they are aware of their work expectations.

Working remotely is a huge step for both employees and employers. If there is no communication, the entire setup will fail. Employers need to strive to keep an open line of communication readily open for their home-based employees. “You have to have regular times for discussion and brainstorming and you have to make sure people are in the loop”-Ellen Galinsky (Wilkie, 1). Galinsky is the president of the Families and Work Institute based in New York. Originally, Galinsky was opposed to the idea of remote employees but was ultimately faced with a difficult decision when presented with the perfect employee for the job, who couldn’t relocate. Without regular interaction, working remotely becomes impersonal. You cannot work productively if you do not have a clear understanding of events that are happenings at your home office. Galinksy’s original thoughts on remote work are shared among her higher-level peers with 25% of managers in a recent poll citing mistrust due to the inability to monitor their employees firsthand, though 75% said they trust their employees completely and had no issues with any productivity of their at-home employees (Global Workplace Analytics, 2).

Communication is key to success in anything, but it changes to a necessity when faced with a situation where you cannot be face-to-face all the time. There are many factors that people take for granted, facial expressions, tone, and how to best present things so both employee and employer understand what’s needed and wanted for both sides. There is a higher rate of successful work-from-home situations among those who strive to build a relationship with their telecommuting employees through occasional face-to-face meetings, increase video meetings, and virtual outings (Global Workplace Analytics, 3). Working from home does not eliminate the need for basic human interaction. You must stay connected and put forth additional effort to stay up to date on what is going on.

The cost of working from home is a largely speculated thing. It can save money on a lot of fronts for the employee, with most of the savings being the cost of commuting. The biggest question remaining revolves around the employers. Do employers save money in the long run? According to The Telework Coalition, employers save costs on real estate, facilities, direct labor, business travel, and other overhead expenses; notably liability and health insurance (TelCoa, 4). One of the most notable concerns is over employee at-home safety. If one were to be injured at home would employers be held liable due to OSHA guidelines? There is plenty of speculation but no concrete studies or evidence to show if this is a viable concern or not.

A more recent study into telecommuting provided some more solid numbers in terms of data. As of March 2016, GlobalWorkplaceAnalytics.com states the national savings would total over $700 Billion a year. Those savings were totaled based on the business, the employee, and the government’s savings (Global Workplace Analytics, 3). The data included the strain on traditional commuting on our government infrastructure and environmental impact. The savings just continue to add up the more the numbers are run and with the increasing options available for remote workers, the government is offering up grants and incentives for employers to offer telecommuting options (Global Workplace Analytics, 2). With an increasing amount of work-from-home options coming forward, there will be additional savings coming from all fronts.

One of the most commonly asked questions revolving around working from home is job expectations. Without a clear standard provided, work-at-home employees tend to slide farther down in the production number as evidenced by iHire LLC’s recent experiment with sending its employees home with the technology needed to do their job but also giving them unlimited paid time off. The productivity numbers plummeted, and sales were way down. After setting a sales quota and a clearer directive of the overall expectations, PTO requests went down, and productivity went up (Wilkie, 1). Success is based on communication, and communication is necessary to effectively direct employees to their actual job.

There is a lot of concern that working from home hurts your chances of advancement within a company. Do you miss out on opportunities for advancement because you simply are not there? A study of Ctrip’s 16,000 employees found that the promotion rate for telecommuters at the travel agency was reduced by about 50 percent (Wilkie, 1). While others feel like, with proper management, career advancement is not an issue for them (Global Workplace Analytics, 2). A lot of that data depends on the actual job that the employee does. Some jobs require more one on one time, with adequate amounts of communication, while other jobs tend to be more hands-off.

Based on the data, all the questions asked are a resounding yes. Money and energy are saved for all parties involved and if you have clear and proper communication, you can easily advance your productivity and promotion. Telecommuting won’t be for everyone, but for those who are seriously considering it, there were way fewer negatives than positives.
