Today I`m gonna talk to you about a very important part of our everyday life which is called inspiration. Surprised that I call it an everyday thing? Well, you may not notice it but each of us, from a small child, painting a picture in a kindergarten to a successful businesswoman who runs her own company, is in need of this phenomenon. In this post, I`ll tell you how to get inspired, the most popular ways to do it and even talk to a big Instagram blogger. Okay, chaps, let`s get started.

We all know what inspiration is, right? But the funny point is that everyone puts his own sense into this word since it`s very personal. Let`s have a look at what Wikipedia has to say on this matter: ‘Inspiration – the act of influencing or suggesting opinions.’ Well, a bit complicated but yes. We`re usually inspired by someone or something that has a strong impact on us, our mood and productivity.

Without a doubt, you can be inspired by literally every single thing in this world. It can be nature, time of the year, a person, an animal, someone`s art, style or way of speaking, and this list is honestly endless. Sometimes it gets really weird. For example, I had a tree, an old and beautiful maple, as an object of admiration in my childhood. Unfortunately, it was cut off several years ago so I cannot show you this natural wonder.

To prove the variety of inspirational sources I asked lots of people about things they`re inspired by. The most popular answer was music, the range was from vintage vinyl records to Danish post-punk music. I`ll show you some other answers below including some inspiring suggestions from me personally:

  • adventures (go buy a ticket with a friend to another country, let yourself be spontaneous)

  • films (‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is an evergreen masterpiece)

  • communication with different people
  • hitchhiking (because what can be better than a mountain view?)
  • and just even making other people smile

As you see, so many people, so many minds…

The point is that you definitely should find an object to admire as it turns out to be pretty useful. While surfing the net, you`re sure to find countless articles, videos, our favorite TEDTalks about inspiration and motivation as a concept of a successful and happy life. The easiest way to stay creative is to find your role model. You may like this person for his/her singing, dancing, speaking, behaving, literally anything. From my experience, it helps you to broaden your outlook, set new priorities in life and even to some extent change yourself. As soon as you find this person you`ll feel a wave of energy and creativity.

For me, it was Taylor Swift, an American singer, and songwriter. Her speeches, as well as lyrics, always made me believe in myself. Her fashion style influenced me and helped to understand which fashion direction I should go forward to. Another person was Karlie Kloss, an American model, and activist. This girl literally ruined the word ‘stereotype’ for me. She`s a tall, beautiful, blonde supermodel who loves cooking, reading, traveling, has her YouTube channel, and… is in love with computer programming! I always look up to these 2 women as it helps me to stay determined and see my life goals clearly.

As for me, 21 century made it really easy to stay inspired. We have dozens of social webs (not mentioning our beloved YouTube) where we can find a huge variety of beautiful photos, landscapes, my favorite quotes and, of course, amazing bloggers from all over the world! These people are not necessarily your role models but they are sure to immerse you into the world of art and fantasy. Someone likes fashion, make-up and beauty bloggers, someone prefers looking at picturesque views on his/her homepage, it fully depends on a taste. Just think about what you like or where you`d like to travel and subscribe to this blogger.

As we see, inspiration is far from being a constant thing. Even creative people who get lots of support from others can lack inspiration, desire to do something or simply don`t have time on it. But here’s the thing. You can (and you should) be inspired by yourself! As far as I`m concerned, it`s the best way not only to creativity but to self-development as well. Just compare yourself to the version of you, say, a year ago. Look how far you`ve come, how many amazing things you`ve accomplished and how much of precious experience you`ve gained. Doesn`t it inspire to become even better every day and always stay open for new opportunities? You can become your own role model. And, honestly, I can`t imagine a better state of things than this.

So, to sum it up, guys. Always stay inspired and creative. No matter what. Do not let anything or anyone make you doubt yourself or your belief in yourself. Note to yourself: look around because there are so many things, sometimes very small ones, that can make you inspired. And, on the top of that, always remember that you are your best and evergreen source of inspiration.

How Can Inspiration Sustain Us in Difficult Times: Essay

How do you stay inspired? If the external circumstances and situations look bleak and your patience is thin, what stops you? How do you keep your dreams and goals alive in difficult times?

I am constantly challenged in this area of ​​inspiration when things are rather difficult. Patience is definitely not one of my strong costumes. If things don’t move as fast as I want, I can be easily disappointed and frustrated. There were times in my life when I was completely knocked out of class and out of focus because I felt blinded by external circumstances that made me disappointed and stressed. Today I can deal with my disappointment much better. I find that things in my life are developing and moving, even if they are on their own schedule. The key for me is to enjoy the process. (The advice I always get from one of my sisters!) I shouldn’t worry too much about the future goals that I will leave today. I have to give myself time and permission to enjoy the moment and be grateful for everything I have today.

I study every day and every minute to keep my dreams in my eyes and mind. When doubts arise, I think about how I feel when I look back today and see the growth that I experienced. I dream of the conversation that I will have with my husband when we see our lives. We looked back and said, ‘Wow, we succeeded!’ See how much we come! We will embrace our strength and perseverance in our journey and be grateful. That inspired me! When I hear my children mention my purpose, which I have expressed in faith, joy, and hope, I am very happy! If I get the confidence that children show me, my dream is possible.

If you are thirsty for the desires of your heart, if you do not stop pursuing your dreams, inspiration will come easily. You will protect your dreams by caring for them. They filter out the things that appear in your life to block or block your dreams. You will remember that you will pursue your goals and inspire you to do so. Many people cannot do that. So, if the things around you feel extraordinary and you want to give up, then don’t do it! The time you decide to give up is when the size is only on the other side of your obstacle.

So stay inspired! Find ways to enrich your mind, body, and soul so that you can always find inspiration in your life, whatever the conditions. Find ways to be now or at NOW in your life, to be inspired to continue your journey to greatness.

Searching for the Source of Inspiration: The Image of a True Leader

When discussing leadership and leaders, people tend to envision a confident and often authoritative character that defines the course of further progress and limits the agency of a team to an extent. However, when addressing the issue of personal inspiration as the character of a leader capable of making a change, one should mention Jesus as the most prominent role model (Mabey et al., 2017). Having been a part of a decision-making leadership team of a local company, I have pretty substantial credibility in the judgment of what a true leader should look like. Indeed, as a spiritual leader, Jesus can be considered the epitome of inspiration and an eternal, perpetual source of wisdom due to His compassion and empathy for each and every one of the members of the human race.

Apart from promoting the principles of law, peace, and compromise, Jesus also represented a perfect model for young people since He is the embodiment of a sinless nature. First and most obvious, Jesus is unanimously considered within the Christian community to be the epitome of understanding, forgiveness, and kindness, which are vital qualities for an individual to possess (Smith et al., 2018). Indeed, according to the bible, Jesus’ teachings centered on the idea of personal sacrifice, humility, and the support of fellow community members: “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12, The Bible. New International Version, 1973). The specified sentiment is an admittedly powerful idea that has the potential to end global conflicts and promote support and unity across global society.

Promoting the cornerstone values of humankind, Jesus promoted forgiveness and humility as the foundational qualities of a true Christian. Therefore, Jesus should be considered a powerful leader and a role model to follow. Complying with His ideas of true leadership and the importance of unity, one will be able to become a true leader and inspire others to make a personal change. Therefore, viewing Jesus as a role model might sound slightly trite yet rather sensible.

Special Places to Relax & Find Inspiration

Living under stress and tension has become the norm rather than the exemption for most people struggling to meet daily work demands and other family and personal responsibilities. Available knowledge demonstrates that although working is a critical component for our survival, relaxing and letting off steam is equally important as it promotes healthy lifestyles as well as provides the body with ample time to refresh and reenergize itself.

There exists a wide variety of special places where people go to relax or find inspiration, such as museums, game parks, zoos, social networking sites, religious sites, libraries, bars and hotel lounges, and nature walks, among others. Individual preferences and tastes play a contributing factor in selecting a place to relax and get inspiration from.

In my view, social networking sites, zoos, libraries and museums provides the much needed relaxation and inspiration to enable one focus on the demands of tomorrow. Visiting social networking sites offer great relaxation in that one is able to share with friends about the challenges and fears of life.

Some social networking sites, such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Tweeter, offers interactive platforms that enables one to while away time in a much more beneficial way than sleeping since you get a chance to not only update yourself in regard to current occurrences, but you also get to share knowledge in a far relaxing state away from the limitations of the traditional classroom.

What’s more, social networking sites provides one with a platform to relax while sharing and networking with friends with whom you share similar interests and passions.

Visiting zoos and museums, in my view, is the most appreciated way to relax and also learn, albeit informally. The experience of feeding bananas to animals in the zoo sweeps one away from the hassles of the physical world to a splendid, warm and almost supernatural world where you instantaneously forget your troubles and enjoy the offerings and wonders of the world to unimaginable limits.

It is imperative to note that zoo and game park visits are also inspirational in nature by the very fact that you get to see how animals interact and socialize with each other. Museums are places where you get to feel and experience our cultural wealth in a manner that is hard to copy in the physical world. The artifacts and tools used in ancient times provides a strand of inspiration on how civilizations have progressed over time and what we are able to achieve as we continue to interact with the environment.

Libraries, in my view, are places where people should visit not only for formal educational purposes, but also to relax and acquaint themselves with content in their own free time. Some libraries offer a cool and enticing environment where one can unwind while perusing through the pages of a classical William Shakespeare’s novel or a magazine of the latest technological trends.

The knowledge gained during such experiences provides an individual with inspiration to not only read for the purposes of passing examinations, but also to read as a way of internalizing the learning culture. The above discussed places, in my view, are very special when it comes to relaxing and finding inspiration.

W. Somerset Maugham as the Story Writing Inspiration

In the previous assignment, the author of the essay chose to write a short story as a project. In this work, a famous English writer, W. Somerset Maugham, will serve as an inspirational example. This author has been chosen because he wrote short stories and was a physician whose characters were his colleagues, among others. However, despite his having written many short stories, his longer novels are the main source of inspiration for the author of the essay. Some of the more optimistic elements of his otherwise pessimistic novels will inspire the future project, while his methods of portraying problematic situations and feelings will be used as an artistic technique.

W. Somerset Maugham’s works are characterized by pessimistic elements, but they still inspire the author of the essay. The most inspirational aspect is how Maugham advised against writing to achieve a certain objective. Instead, he advocated for being completely sincere and convinced in the topic of the work, putting little effort and creating inspiration alone. Another one of his appealing qualities is his belief in self-expression and finding a purpose, despite being otherwise disillusioned with a lot of ideals. Maugham’s dedication to the topic and material of his writing and his ability to find a way through otherwise pessimistic situations appear to be motivating to the author of the essay.

W. Somerset Maugham’s works are contradictory in the aspect of ultimate ideals. On the one hand, his shorter works are quite pessimistic, as the author himself was disillusioned with the concept of love as a basis for relationships. On the other hand, in his major novels, protagonists like Philip Carey from “Of Human Bondage” successfully achieve their aims or ideals (Mambrol, 2019). In doing so, they find acceptance and a better understanding of their lives. Another such character is Charles Strickland from “The Moon and Sixpence”, whose genius finds recognition after being realized late in life and going through societal obstacles (Mambrol, 2019). Likewise, passion is one of the main motivators for Maugham’s characters to try to control their destinies. For example, Philip’s fate is decided by factors such as passion, disillusionment, and the search for a purpose in life (Mambrol, 2019). Therefore, despite Maugham being skeptical towards the ideal of a loving relationship, he still valued love as an ideal, self-expression, or finding a purpose. Thus, his characters were still driven by their passion, emotions, and existential search.

Unlike other writers, Maugham’s purpose is not to educate but to entertain. Known to take his real acquaintances, including himself, as examples for his works, he subjected them to numerous changes, creating a perfect illustration of a topic he had been inspired to illustrate. Then, through this illustration, the reader grows in sympathy for a character and, consequently, for the topic in question, such as a passion or a simpler emotion. However, Maugham doesn’t explain deeper meanings or reasons of the emotion in question; creating an entertaining case for a story is sufficient to him. Rather than giving reasons or foundations, Maugham reveals the negative details of the chosen topic, such as Philip’s deep love for Mildred being harmful rather than beneficial (Mambrol, 2019). This unorthodox and characteristic method is original and effective at entertaining the reader.

As discussed above, on the narrative level, characters in Maugham’s works function believably in the situation described in the books. On the cultural level the stories contain elements that generalize said situation, making it a solid representation of events in reality, believable and associative for the reader. These elements can seem non-standard but still serve their function. For example, in “The Moon and Sixpence” Maugham uses paintings to characterize Mrs. Stroeve: “Two paintings by Chardin and one by Manet are strategically introduced to calibrate the ethical and social tone surrounding Mrs. Stroeve” (Wright, 2017, p. 42). Wright (2018, p. 45), in addition to this observation, highlights the fact that Maugham’s disguise of the people he used as an inspiration for his characters comes from his personal life experience: “add some knowledge of his biographies and autobiographical essays, and a very different situation emerges”. For the future project, this approach may be instrumental in representing cases of different ailments. Maugham’s novels are written in a simple and idiomatic style, making them easily understandable to the reader; it can assist in picturing different cases of certain situations in the project as well.

W. Somerset Maugham is an unorthodox writer whose main aim in his writing is to entertain his reader with an intriguing depiction of a life problem or an emotion. His key method is while being inspired by a topic, creating a character via projecting his own experience onto a person he knows. That person then serves as an example of the topic without uncovering its nature. To further this end, Maugham proceeds to make this illustration enjoyable and, at the same time, relatable for the reader via non-standard characteristics such as paintings in Mrs. Stroeve’s case. The author of the essay aims to employ these methods for future projects.

Stylistics: Poetry’s Spirit and Inspiration

Poetry is the art of combining words in rhymes. However, this process is impossible without inspiration, some kind of an insight which helps to understand the idea which comes in the head of a poet and to put it into words. The word inspiration contains the word spirit in its structure. It is not accidentally, as no one can even imagine the existence of one notion without the existence of another. Moreover, inspiration descends from spirit because only it can serve as the essence which gives ideas to poets.

Poets of all times and epochs usually get inspiration from different symbols and notions. Each epoch has its idea, which can influence the whole poetry. The Aeolian harp can be treated as one of them. The name of this symbol ascends to Aeolus, the God of wind. It is obviously that it serves as the symbol of this power.

However, poets in their works also use this notion as a symbol of harmonic interaction of nature and human being and poetry in the whole. For example, Coleridge widely uses this symbol in his famous poem The Eolian Harp. He compares love and nature with this instrument. It plays a great role in this poem, being one of the main symbols here. The work is overfilled with it.

Another poem which explores the same issue is Ode to the West Wind by Percy Bysshe Shelley. Here we can observe the description of the fury of nature. The author chants the praises to the wind, stressing its power and fury, its primal force and wildness “Wild Spirit, which art moving everywhere; Destroyer and Preserver; hear, O hear!”. Shelley compares the west wind with the spirit, giving it some mystical powers and stressing its unique role in the poets life.

Calling it spirit, the author makes comparisons with inspiration. He seems to underline the fact that wind can serve as a source of a new life and new ideas. However, as we have already said Aeolian harp can serve as a symbol of this element, being the symbol of poetry at the same time. The conclusion is obvious. The author wants to show the great power of the Aeolian harp, comparing it with the wind. He also talks about a poet is in the grip of it “If I were a dead leaf thou mightest bear; If I were a swift cloud to fly with thee.”

One more work which touches this issue is the poem The Convergence of the Twain by Thomas Hardy. Describing the destruction of Titanic, he adds the symbol of the Aeolian harp here. “Steel chambers, late the pyres. Of her salamandrine fires,

Cold currents thrid, and turn to rhythmic tidal lyres.”. Movements of waves are compared with the harps ringlet. In this case, waves are sounding strings which sing the last song to the dead ship. Aeolian harp obtains here another shade of its meaning. It symbolizes eternal and all-absorbing nature which watches indifferently on humans sufferings and continues singing its song.

Inspiration From Sarbanes-Oxley Act

Introduction

This study investigates the benefits that inspired Representative Michael G. Oxley (R-OH) and the U.S. Senator Paul Sarbanes to propose the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) (Wolkoff 2005). The benefits of adopting the act form the specific area of study, leading to the question of, what benefits inspired corporate entities to adopt the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)? To answer the research question, the study focused on a review of existing literature on section 404 of SOX and its burdensome nature and strengthening the internal environment.

Body

Cunningham (2002) and Lundgren (2006) say that Congress passed the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 to combat crime and ensure accurate financial reporting by holding executives accountable for their actions in the provision of accurate financial statements. However, Schwartz (2008) notes that some parts of the activities such as Section 404 were the most burdensome. Despite that, the accruing benefits of adopting Section 404 listed under Title IV of the act provides guidelines for enhanced financial disclosure, which holds managers and auditors responsible for assessing the scope and adequacy of internal control structures, procedures, and effective financial reporting as part of the annual report, known as the “internal control report.” A report by Wagner and Dittmar (2006) shows that adopting the framework enables managers to assess the adequacy of specific internal controls in the contexts of accounts and risks, evaluate the flow of transactions, determine the points at which misstatements happen, and establish whether the controls are consistent with the requirements contained in the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) framework.

Strengthening the environment formed the basis of the second benefit. Cunningham (2002) claims that a strong environment enables organizations to develop effective governance structures for inculcating ethical values in the workers. The desirable behaviors among employees can be achieved by complying with the SOX requirements of the Internal Control-Integrated Framework on how to train employees with proper procedures (Panko and Ordway 2008). The desired values and attitudes that shape executives with honesty and integrity are defined within the framework for effective financial reporting. Some areas of concern include contract solicitation, hiring practices, employee evaluation, and objective setting. However, internal controls must be taken as the last line of defense and not the first for an organization to reap the benefits of adopting SOX.

However, the investigation answers the question of, what benefits inspired corporate entities to adopt the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)? An analysis of the findings shows that the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) provides a strong framework for restoring investor confidence and improving financial reliability and reporting. Besides, Section 404 compels managers to make honest, reliable, and accurate financial statements and hold them accountable for their reports. SOX obliges managers to ensure effective internal controls are in place for secure financial transactions. An evaluation of the results shows that besides the burden of ensuring compliance with the SOX requirements, the benefits are far much broader than the burden of complying with rigorous requirements.

Findings show that corporate entities were required to company with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) because of various benefits such as accuracy of financial reporting, management responsibilities, enhanced financial disclosure, better internal controls, and an effective internal environment.

In conclusion, inspiration from the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) is based on the benefits accruing from its adoption by complying with various sections of the act.

Inspiration From Sarbanes-Oxley Act (Sox)

This study was to evaluate the qualitative and quantitative data collection methods that were used to inform the investigation on the inspiration from Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). The investigation was based on secondary data from different articles with detailed information on the reasons that led Representative Michael G. Oxley (R-OH) and the U.S. Senator Paul Sarbanes to propose the act and its implications on the accuracy of corporate financial statements (Wagner and Dittmar 2006). Cunningham (2002) argues that the act obliges top managers with the oversight role to ensure accurate financial reporting are under the mandatory obligation to certify the accuracy of corporate financial statements.

King and Horrocks (2010) argue that both the qualitative and quantitative methods were applied by the researcher to collect and analyze the secondary data. Qualitative data was based on sources that discussed the underlying factors that led the U.S. Senator and Representative to propose the enactment of the law. The qualitative approach provided information on the sections of the acts, which were divided into eleven titles including the obligations and responsibilities of corporate entities’ inaccurate financial reporting and the criminal penalties that corporations and individual managers could be subjected to if they violate any section of the act. That is beside the requirements outlined in the act on how organizations should implement and comply with each section of the act to adhere to the law. The qualitative paradigm provided the framework for establishing the issues covered by the act such as auditor independence, internal assessments and controls, corporate governance, and enhanced financial disclosure and the direct effects such issues could have on the implementation of SOX.

An analysis of the quantitative paradigm as noted by Yin (2010) based on secondary data shows that the method provides the framework to analyze the number of corporate entities that were adversely affected by inaccurate financial reporting and the effects on the financial performance of the organizations. That was beside the number of legislators who voted in favor of the act. Typically, when the act was subjected to the vote, 8 representatives abstained, 423 voted in favor, 3 opposed. On the Senatorial vote, 1 abstained and 99 voted in favor of the act. Later, President George Bush signed the act into law and asserted that America had been transformed from the era of false profits to a period of accurate financial reporting and high standards. Tashakkori and Teddlie (2010) provide the statistical basis for measuring the rising number of countries including Canada, Japan, Germany, France, South Africa, Turkey, Australia, India, Italy, and Israel among others that steadily adopted different sections and the SOX act, demonstrating how inspired countries were in adopting the act.

Both the qualitative and quantitative research paradigms were applied for an evaluation of the analysis of the mixed research methods on the perceptions and responses of different players in the financial industry and organizations to the strict application of the act shows opposing views. (Schwartz 2008). For instance, a survey conducted in the USA and commissioned by NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg revealed the undesirable experience America has gone through.

In conclusion, both qualitative and quantitative paradigms provided strong frameworks for conducting the research using mixed research methods on the inspiration from the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) based on a review of various articles that discuss the act and its implications on accurate financial reporting.
