Examining the numerous ways that child protection professionals can better under

Examining the numerous ways that child protection professionals can better understand and connect with special populations can help reduce barriers to communication and services. Children who typically fall into this “special populations” grouping include those with substance abuse or mental health concerns, children with intellectual disabilities, children of immigrants, LGBTQ youth, gang members, homeless children, runaways, human trafficking victims, and pregnant teens. In this assignment, you can research a special population of interest.
First, read Chapters 9–10 in your Child Welfare and Child Protection textbook and review the Finding and Examining Peer-reviewed Journal Articles learning unit (located in the required readings and resources section in Module 6).
Next, select a special population that you would like to learn more about and find one peer-reviewed journal article related to the special population you have selected.
Last, find:
a minimum of two general resources (e.g., websites and/or contact and service information for national and/or local agencies) that could be used by children who are being abused or neglected and
a minimum of two other specialized resources that could be particularly helpful for a child in the special population that you are researching.
You will address the following topics and questions in your paper:
State which special population you will be researching and pick a related case study from Chapter 9 that offers a scenario and practice tip for working with the special population you selected. Type up some brief case notes outlining and documenting the main elements of the case study. Explain how you would assess and approach the situation as a child protection professional.
Using the findings from the peer-review journal article you retrieved, along with your text and other resources, analyze the unique burdens and risk factors associated with children grouped into your special population and how poverty, substance abuse, homelessness, violence, and/or mental health concerns may contribute to these individuals’ vulnerability.
Review the specific issues related to transitional living situations for children who are in foster care (highlighted in Chapter 10). Explain how diverse family arrangements for children placed in foster care could potentially impact those who are part of the special population that you have selected.
Describe how child protection professionals can better connect with special populations and help reduce barriers to communication and services. Create a list of the four local and/or national resources you have identified (i.e., two general resources for abused/neglected children and two resources for your special population). Provide a one-paragraph descriiption of each resource’s services and contact information (e.g., website and/or phone number and address).
Your paper will be a total of approximately four or more pages (double-spaced). You will include one additional page for references.

Choose two of the six outcomes of global citizenship from the article (i.e., intergroup empathy, valuing diversity, social justice, environmental sustainability, intergroup helping, and the level of responsibility to act for the betterment of this world).
Explain why those two outcomes are the most important in becoming a global citizen compared to the others.
Describe at least two personal examples or events in your life that illustrate the development of global citizenship based on the two outcomes you chose.

To help structure your paper, the following suggestions can be used as a guide:
Identify the problem and the way it is defined.
Identify the causes to which the problem is attributed.
What are the values and beliefs that make the events of concern defined as a social problem?
Why is or is not this concern being raised as a problem at this time in history?
Is this a “new” problem?

Who has power in regard to this issue?
What social welfare policies and programs are relevant to the problem? Is there a role for social work? If so, what is the role of social work?
Is the problem adequately addressed by present social welfare policies and programs? Is there more or less which should be done?
What are your suggested changes or approaches to the problem?

News Item: Resilience Action Plan
Step 1. Locate and save a current news item (online or in-print) relevant to learning and living environments for those who have adverse early life environments (e.g., autism, ADHD, developmental delay(s), fetal alcohol syndrome, or other disorders)– something that captures the topics of this week’s class. Select ONE of these adverse early life environments as you search for an article. Your article should mainly focus on the environment you have selected (e.g., an article on autism and resilience).
This news item should have been published within the last few years (2-3 years).
Save the article as a PDF file or provide the URL address (double check the address you provide is accessible).
Step 2. Appropriately cite your article in APA 7th edition format.
Step 3. Based on the information that you learn from the article, develop a resilience-focused action plan for a hypothetical community, highlighting strategies and resources to promote resilience among that specific community.
For example, your article on autism and resilience is one adverse early life environment – what strategies and resources might help this community in promoting resilience?
Please provide a minimum of three strategies and three resources.
Provide justification for why you’ve highlighted these implications for your hypothetical community and how you would put the strategies into practice.
Step 4. Discuss practical programming/educational opportunities and interventions aimed at promoting resilience in individuals who have experienced ACEs.
Please provide a minimum of three opportunities and three interventions.
Discuss the benefits and how such implications would be put into practice within your hypothetical community.
Step 5. When complete, upload a PDF of your article AND your resilience action plan to this assignment folder.
Please feel free to be creative in this process! Feel free to design your resilience action plan using Canva, PowerPoint, or other related tool. Images/pictures can be used, along with text (required). Maybe you’ll include a timeline of when tasks will be completed, or a table and list of resources. The opportunities are endless!

Diversity is a descriiptive characteristic of families as much as it is for individuals, and it is important to recognize, understand, and consider when intervening with families.
In your main post be sure to address all of the following steps:
1. How has culture, race, socio-economic status, nationality, ethnicity, gender, and/or religion shaped your family life and your perceptions of what defines “family?”
2. How did reading the text chapter on Diversity impact your thinking and perceptions about the role/significance of culture (both social and family culture) in family life?
3. Did your own personal identity and family life either confirm or challenge common stereotypes associated with your culture and/or race, gender, socio-economic status, nationality, ethnicity, race, religion ? If so how?
4. How would you be aware of your perceptions and beliefs, when working with diverse families who are different from your family’s background?
5. What if the family views your differences compared to themselves, as too great and assumes you cannot understand them or their needs?
