Week 5 Final Paper Must include: Introduction Distinguish between Advanced Nursing Practice (ANP) and the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN). Briefly define advance nursing practice and the roles in advanced practice nursing pertaining to clinical practice, primary care, education, administration, and health information. Describe the advance nursing practice role you aspire to and briefly share the experiences and/or qualities you have that have influenced your decision. Describe your personal nursing philosophy and the model that helped you describe it. Examine regulatory and legal requirements for the state in which you plan to practice/work. Identify the required competencies (domains) and certification requirements for your selected role. Describe what is required to obtain certification in your selected role. Define Transformational Leadership as it relates to your identified leadership attributes that you possess or need to develop. Apply the leadership style you will embrace as an APN in primary care. Describe the current policy or trends related to your APN role in primary care and determine if policy or trend needs to change–if opposed to change, state the reason. If you determine that the above policies or trends require change, propose how APN can lead changes. Conclusion: Summarize your role paper by highlighting key points made in your paper. Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner, demonstrating ethical scholarship in appropriate and accurate representation and attribution of sources; and displayed accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Proper APA format should be used.

Add a section to the 2-3 page paper you submitted in Module 1. The new section should address the following in 1-2 pages: Identify and describe at least two competing needs impacting your selected healthcare issue/stressor. Describe a relevant policy or practice in your organization that may influence your selected healthcare issue/stressor. Critique the policy for ethical considerations, and explain the policy’s strengths and challenges in promoting ethics. Recommend one or more policy or practice changes designed to balance the competing needs of resources, workers, and patients, while addressing any ethical shortcomings of the existing policies. Be specific and provide examples. Cite evidence that informs the healthcare issue/stressor and/or the policies, and provide three scholarly resources in support of your policy or practice recommendations. See attached file for previous healthcare issue/stressor

Concept Map Concept maps will be utilized weekly in the clinical area to assist students in utilizing nursing process to provide appropriate and individualized care to maternal child and pediatric patients and their families. A concept map will be initiated following interview and assessment of the client and used in collaboration with the instructor to plan, implement, and evaluate the care provided. Students will be evaluated by the instructor and are a required assignment for passing the clinical component of the course.

Advanced Nursing Practice Competing needs, including those of the healthcare wor

Advanced Nursing Practice Competing needs, including those of the healthcare workforce, available resources, and patients, exert significant influence on policy development. The involvement of stakeholders representing diverse interests, such as healthcare providers, educators, patients, and policymakers, shapes the policy-making process. Stakeholders advocate for their respective needs, with healthcare providers emphasizing workforce considerations, educators advocating for adequate resources for education and training, and patients advocating for access to quality care (Kelly & Porr 2018). The challenge lies in balancing these competing needs to develop policies that effectively address healthcare workforce shortages, allocate resources efficiently, and meet the diverse healthcare needs of patients. Policymakers must navigate these competing demands while considering evidence-based practices, regulatory frameworks, and the broader socio-political context to develop policies that optimize healthcare delivery and outcomes. Competing needs, such as those of the healthcare workforce, available resources, and patient demands, play a crucial role in shaping healthcare policy, particularly in the realm of Advanced Nursing Practice (ANP). For instance, the need to ensure an ample workforce to meet the rising demand for healthcare services clashes with regulatory barriers that restrict the scope of practice for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). Addressing these barriers is essential to mitigate healthcare workforce shortages, especially in underserved regions (Kleinpell et al., 2023). Resource allocation presents another challenge, as funding must be directed towards supporting ANP education, training, and practice. This includes financing accreditation processes, credentialing initiatives, and curriculum development for APRN programs. However, limited resources may hinder efforts to expand ANP roles and address practice barriers effectively, necessitating strategic allocation and advocacy for increased funding. Patient needs are at the forefront of ANP policy development, with a focus on improving access to quality healthcare while ensuring patient safety and satisfaction. Patients may face challenges accessing primary and specialty care services, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Policymakers must balance these needs while addressing regulatory obstacles and promoting patient-centered care models that enhance continuity of care. Policy solutions to address these competing needs in ANP may include advocating for nationwide full practice authority for APRNs, establishing standardized accreditation criteria for APRN education programs, implementing reimbursement policies that recognize APRNs as primary care providers, and investing in workforce development initiatives to attract and retain APRNs in underserved communities (Wheeler et al., 2022). High patient-to-nurse ratios, a high percentage of high-acuity patients, patient

High patient-to-nurse ratios, a high percentage of high-acuity patients, patient assignments that challenge us, and a lack of time for necessary breaks all add up to the demanding burden that nurses endure on a daily basis as a result of the nursing shortage (Tamata & Mohammadnezhad, 2023). One of the biggest problems a healthcare organization has when trying to solve the nursing shortage is finding ways to stay within budget while still providing enough money for other necessary resources. The competing needs in the nurse staff deficit, finances, and meeting staffing demands, must coincide with the plan of the policy before it is implemented. Many leaders cannot balance between addressing competing requirements in healthcare and creating policies that would benefit nurses. Leaders must therefore participate in carefully mapping out guarantees that the requirements are taken into account during the policy-making process. A balanced workplace is necessary to ensure safe, high-quality patient care that is continuous, professional satisfaction for nurses, and the reduction and management of distress, tension, and dissension (Zhavoronkova, Custer, & Neal, 2022). The company could save money by avoiding the expenses of recruiting and training new nursing staff if it had policies that encourage nurses to work overtime, sign-on bonuses, and incentives for on-call nurses and extra shifts. If staff nurse placement is unsuccessful, policies that permit the use of agency nurses in times of low staffing will assist the organization in maintaining a safe nurse-to-patient ratio, which enhances employee satisfaction and makes it feasible for nurses to give patients the best care possible. On a national level, to handle the nursing shortage in a more coordinated manner, there should be an organization created on a federal and state level to regulate nurse and staff to patient ratios and provide oversight. To lessen the effects of the nursing shortage and strengthen the country’s response to appear that there is a concern for nursing satisfaction and patient safety, significant federal budgetary commitments and ongoing cooperation are required across several platforms locally, statewide, and nationally.
