Reflect on previous or future civic engagement in which you have participated or will participate.
Post a response to the following prompts:
Are you a part of a professional organization? If so, which one? If not, which professional organization might you be interested in joining? Why?
What type of civic engagement have you participated in, or what type of civic engagement might you be interested in participating in? Be specific by connecting your experiences to your community.
How might joining a professional organization help you with civic engagement? Be specific and provide examples
Read and respond to two of your peers. Respond to two people with comments that may provide additional information, request clarification, provide support, and/or offer an opposing perspective. please right a short reply to these two paragraghs posted below as well.
1. Are you a part of a professional organization? If so, which one? If not, which professional organization might you be interested in joining? Why?
I am currently part of two professional organizations. I have a membership to American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) and Lippencott Nursing Center. These are great organizations that provide free CE’s and valuable reading material. New journal articles are released each month. They also provide pocket cards that are helpful at the bedside. I also want to join American Association for Nurse Practitioners (AANP) because that is the degree that I am aiming for.
What type of civic engagement have you participated in, or what type of civic engagement might you be interested in participating in? Be specific by connecting your experiences to your community.
I have participated in several vaccine clinics and blood pressure checks at local events. Having blood pressure stations set up at local events are so beneficial to the community. I have had people tell me that they have not had their BP checked in years! I am also a preceptor and mentor. I have precepted new grads as well as students. I love teaching! I am also a mentor to a new grad on my unit. I am so glad that I can be that person that makes someone day a little easier just by talking to them or answering a question. Sometimes they may just need a hug!
How might joining a professional organization help you with civic engagement? Be specific and provide examples.
I have been able to provide great literature to those that I have precepted from articles that I receive through the professional organizations that I belong to. I have also made packets from some of the pocket cards for my colleagues that I receive from the organizations.
2. Are you a part of a professional organization? No, I am not part of a professional organization. If so, which one? If not, which professional organization might you be interested in joining? I would be interested in joining The American Nurses Association (ANA) Why? The ANA has a wide range of resources, including educational opportunities, certifications, and free online courses as part of AACN’s continuing education program. The ANA aligns with what I am pursuing in Nursing, and that is FNP-BC.

What type of civic engagement have you participated in, or what type of civic engagement might you be interested in participating in? Be specific by connecting your experiences to your community.  I have participated in feeding the homeless in my community when I used to live in Virginia. This experience enabled me to help give to less fortunate and who were hungry. It was very rewarding to see people be fed that were not able to provide that to themselves.

How might joining a professional organization help you with civic engagement? Be specific and provide examples. Joining a professional organization can help with civic engagement by allowing like-minded people that share the same ideas to come together, and network to advance causes that they care about. An example of civic engagement would be volunteering at a community event that helps the community with food, blood and clothing drives.

Case Study:
A rural critical access hospital emergency department had 15 patients present within the last 72 hours with the presentation of blood diarrhea. The emergency department records indicate that all individuals report eating a hamburger at a local family-owned restaurant about 20 miles from the local hospital. Patients implicated the presentation of their symptoms being related to eating the hamburger. Notification to the local health department indicated that there were also additional reported cases of bloody diarrhea associated with eating at the local family-owned restaurant. Using field outbreak investigation methods, respond to the following:
a.What are possible causes for an increase in these reported cases?
b.What information is necessary to determine if this is an outbreak?
c.What is (are) your initial hypothesis(es)?
d.What information is necessary to confirm your hypothesis(es)?
e.What laboratory testing would you recommend on the presenting patients?

Introduction: We will begin by ( looking at your draft , edit the summarized ) background of the topic in a concise paragraph, ensuring that the context is clear and sets the stage for the rest of the chapter. Specifically, we will draw from your document to highlight the persistent issue of insufficient tutoring services in nursing colleges and its impacts on student outcomes (Geesa 2020; Hakim 2023). Following this, we will restate the problem and purpose statements with exact wording, ensuring alignment with the research questions.
Research Methodology, Design, and Rationale:
Methodology: We will specify, describe, and justify the chosen qualitative phenomenological descriptive study methodology. This approach is ideal for deeply understanding the lived experiences and perspectives of the participants. By citing experts such as ( review appropriate experts provided)Creswell and Creswell (2022) we will emphasize the appropriateness of this methodology for capturing the essence of the participants’ experiences.
Design: The purpose and applications of the phenomenological descriptive design will be detailed, explaining why this design is suitable for answering your research questions. We will describe how this design allows for an in-depth exploration of the phenomenon of insufficient tutoring services, citing Moustakas (1994) and  ( review appropriate experts provided) to support our rationale.
Type of Design: If applicable, we will identify and justify the specific type of design, such as descriptive only . By using cited information from research experts like Moustakas (1994), we will ensure the chosen design is well-supported and appropriate for the study’s objectives.
Role of the Researcher: We will explain the role of the researcher in detail, including your responsibility in designing the study, collecting data, analyzing findings, and drawing conclusions. We will address any potential ethical issues, such as conflicts of interest or power differentials with participants, ensuring transparency and integrity in the research process.
