Harmony Os’s Features And Challenges

ABSTRACT

Harmony operating system (Harmony OS) is the English name for Hong Meng operating system which means” to bring more harmony and convenience to the world”. Harmony OS is the first open source operating systems developed in China since China’s economic opening 41 years ago, developed by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. It is an operating system that was launched after the United States launched a blockade which part of the US-China Trade war. This blockade has makes the Android operating systems is no longer available to support Huawei mobile phone industry.

INTRODUCTION

Open source software is computer software which source code can be freely obtained from the Internet. The copyright holder of this software reserves a part of the rights under the provisions of the software agreement and allows users to learn, modify, increase, and improve the quality improvement of the software. The following is the rationality of using open source software.

Autonomous and Personalized

If we use proprietary software and need key features that can help improve the business, we must submit a request to the developer and wait. Unless the company is large enough to easily attract the attention of developers, it may take a while. If we use open source software, we can change the content according to our schedule. We can modify the software to ensure that it has the functions required by its own business. Even if we can’t write the code ourselves, because it’s open source, but we can let others add code for us is an option.

Security, stability, and reliability

An open source application is usually developed by thousands of people. Just because many people stare at the code, they usually find and solve serious problems quickly. When errors or even minor errors are found in proprietary software, it may take weeks or even months to fix the patch, and critical security issues may take a while to resolve. Also, people outside the publisher do not know what is wrong with the software, so when using proprietary applications, the enterprise must rely on blind trust.

Openness and Transparency

Proprietary software has many “dark dead ends” that hide many errors. The source code is very important for troubleshooting and understanding how the product works. In large software companies, only a few people can access the source code, and those who can access the source code are usually not directly accessible to users. Being able to access the source code is also very important to fix the security breach. Some open source products are so successful that their commercial competitors cannot survive.

Flexibility

Everyone knows that typical commercial software licenses are uncertain. Many people should have encountered this kind of trouble, even for software licenses obtained from large developers. In contrast, open source licensing is easier and more flexible.

Durability

When you use proprietary software, the developer may decide to stop developing the software or refuse to continue to support the old version of the application. The company may also go bankrupt, and its products may have legal gaps for some time or forever. Open source software almost guarantees its existence. Although there is no 100% certainty when an open source application is provided online for free, there will be a community to support it, which should be permanently available and the old version may still be available for those who do not upgrade to newer hardware.

About Harmony OS open source software

Harmony operating system is a microkernel-based full-scene distributed OS. It is a set of operating systems mainly oriented to the future 5G leading era of the Internet of things. Harmony operating system realizes asynchronous expansion, which can be deployed flexibly corresponding to different devices, and it has a three-layer architecture, the first layer is the kernel, the second layer is basic services, and the third layer is the program framework. Harmony may open a unified operating system for multiple devices such as mobile phones, computers, tablets, TVs, automobiles and smart wearable devices, and is compatible with all Android applications and all web applications. Its creation was originally designed for industrial and telecommunications networks, not as you think it is designed for mobile phone operating systems used in mobile phones, when doing this system does not want to replace Android.

Harmony system’s development path

The inspiration for developing the harmony system came from Nokia ’s development team, which is Finnish multinational telecommunication, information technology, and consumer electronics company. Initially applied to the Internet of Things, never thought of replacing Android, but never thought of being sanctioned by the United States, which made it impossible to use Android and relevant Google products. This affected developer speeds up the research, development, and improvement of the Harmony System. It has started planning and research in Shanghai, Jiao Tong University since 2012.

It was named ‘Huawei LiteOS’ at the beginning of its establishment, which is a lightweight software system similar to AliOS. Huawei has applied for the ‘Huawei Hong Meng’ trademark in 2018, the application date is August 24, 2018, the registration announcement date is May 14, 2019, and the exclusive permission period is from May 14, 2019, to May 13, 2029 day. The Huawei operating system team led by a professor developed an independent property rights operating system and then named it Hong Meng on May 17, 2019. Huawei officially released the Hong Meng system on August 9, 2019. Yu Cheng Dong also announced that Hong Meng OS is an open source.

Background

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. It was established in 1987 and is headquartered in Long Gang district, Shenzhen city, Guangdong province, China. Huawei is the world’s leading provider of information and communication technology solutions, focusing on the ICT field, adhering to stable operation, continuous innovation, and open cooperation, and building end-to-end in telecommunications operators, enterprises, terminals, and cloud computing. Solution advantages, providing competitive ICT solutions, products, and services to operator customers, enterprise customers, and consumers, and is committed to realizing the future information society and building a better fully connected world.

The development of 5G technology for Huawei’s harmonious system

5G technology has great strategic significance. The technology and existing Wi-Fi will be reasonably integrated to improve the performance of the router. It has extremely high network speed. In addition to the increase in network speed. In addition to the increase in network speed, if the home broadband is upgraded, the promotion of 4K television sets, even 8K television sets will bring new improvements in video and games. Many people are concerned about whether the United States sanctions will affect Harmony’s use of 5G technology.

For Huawei’s technology, the 5G technologies solution is completely unaffected by the sanctions, because, after the incident, Huawei has taken various actions and measures in the past to reduce the impact on the company’s operations and supply. Since the beginning of 4G in 2010, Huawei has begun to invest in 5G. Huawei has carried out 5G scale commercial trials with three major operators in many cities in China, all of which have reached commercial standards. From 5G chips, 5G base stations, bearers, core networks to 5G terminal equipment, Huawei is the first manufacturer to provide a complete 5G solution.

Completeness of ecological construction of own brand system

To let others brand see the ecological feasibility of their systems and the good performance of their products, may be necessary to build a complete system ecology of their brand products. The Huawei brand has already involved many products in terms of hardware, and it is not only limited to mobile devices but has also been deployed in smart homes. In the 5G era, interconnection has become a hot issue, and Huawei needs to focus on building the ecosystem of its products.

In addition to the smart screen, can Huawei Harmony system connect cars, wearable devices, computer phones, smart speakers and other products in series, showing the good interconnection performance of Harmony system, and bring a different experience from the current popular system, it will become one of the challenges facing for the Harmony system.

Compatibility and comprehensiveness of software applications

The software ecology of the system requires a long-term development process. In the early days of the new system, the number of software becomes an important issue. At present, the compatible Android application selected by Harmony OS is a relatively stable method. However, in the future, compatibility with Android software alone is not enough. The main reason is that it is difficult to bring differences in software experience from the Android system. Besides, a software ecosystem specifically for a certain system is also a natural barrier to competition.

The balance between openness and closure

Although Harmony OS has been confirmed as an open source system, Huawei Harmony system also faces challenges in the trade-off between openness and closedness of the system. On the one hand, today’s operating system, relying on a single brand to support the entire ecosystem is more difficult to succeed, and more needs for the support of other brands Harmony system will face the problem of how to attract the support of other brands and how to give technical support to these brands.

On the other hand, the openness of open source also brings about management problems of third-party software. Similar to the Android system, although the system has strong software compatibility, the API levels adopted by developers are different. The tripartite software experience is also inconsistent. The solution method has become the problem of Harmony for this open source system. If adopt a closedness method, the control of tripartite software is relatively simpler, but at the same time, it also tests how its hardware ecology and services can be sufficiently attractive to consumers. After all, under the mainstream operating system now, it seems that only the Apple brand has achieved success with its hardware ecosystem, and this success is difficult to replicate.

CONCLUSION

Huawei’s strong resistance in the US-China trade war has provided breathing time for other related manufacturers in China, which makes Huawei stand up especially of global significance. The various manufacturers in China are both competitors and form a delicate but real community of interests of open source technology. The establishment of Harmony’s ecosystem is not only a matter of life and death for Huawei but also a decisive weight for the future survival environment of all relevant manufacturers in China.

The Harmony Of Japanese People With Secondary Nature

There have long been debate on the belief of Japanese people in harmony with nature. On one hand, this belief is popular in all periods in Japan history, which can be traced back to the Heian period. As Ki no Tsurayuki puts in his preface to the Kokinshu, he sees the essence of Japanese poetry to be rooted from the connection of human heart with nature (Callahan, lecture slides on Sep. 16). The same belief can also be found popular even in the modern period.

Kawabata Yasunari, in his speech after awarded the Nobel Prize, also emphasize the Japanese tradition of beauty in those “myriad manifestations of nature” (Kawabata, 1968, p3). However, it is also noticeable that Japanese people are also, at the same time, trying to change the nature instead of simply obeying and describing it. In the Japanese tradition, cucumber is a preferred food for summer, as it can help people cool down from the hot temperature. But this effort is effectively counteracting the hot weather in Japan. As Haruo Shirane points out in his book

Japan and the Culture of the Four Seasons: Nature, Literature, and the Arts, such “harmony” with nature is not a relation with the wild and primitive nature, rather, it is a harmony with the “secondary nature” (Shirane, 2012, p18). Secondary nature, as Shirane defines, is a re-created nature, often in the form of painting, poetry, and gardening. Shirane then argues for this point in three ways: first, such harmony with nature is essentially an idea mostly shared by aristocratic classes in cities; second, the waka poetry, which is a popular form to express such closeness to nature, has some obvious divergence from the facts about the environment in Japan; third, a specific example of secondary nature in rural regions – satoyama, was examined to show the harmony in the traditional belief relies more on the connection with this secondary nature. Shirane’s argument is true, and the term secondary nature has different interpretation under different conditions. Nature is just a base for Japanese people to build their society and philosophy on, through the creation of “secondary nature”, because the connection with nature in rural regions is essentially a reliance on the exploitation of natural resources, and the one in cities shows an emphasis on order in the Japanese philosophy. In any case, the harmony with nature is mostly a belief connected to the secondary nature, not one with the primitive, untamed nature.

Japan is an island country. This limits the resources available to it. There are not many indigenous fruit and vegetable growing on the Japan islands. Additionally, there are frequency typhoons and earthquakes attacking Japan, which makes the cultivation of corps more difficult. Under that circumstance, it is reasonable that Japan would largely rely on nature and thus form a belief about nature in times before the industrialization. According to archeological evidence, the Shinto religion formed in the Yayoi period, and it is believed that its invention is largely connected to the cultivation of rice (Earhart, 2014, p35). Compared to China, Egypt, Europe, or any other ancient civilization, Japan is amongst the ones with the most limited natural resources. Thus, the existence of satoyama is not a coincidence. Satoyama is paradigm of farming villages, which depends on cultivation of rice, but at the same time harvesting surrounding woods for fuel, fertilizer, or construction material (Shirane, 2012, p15). All of these activities are essentially trying to modify the nature environment for economic purpose.

The result is creating an environment which is more suitable for human living, and this is believed to be the expression of “harmony with secondary nature” under a countryside background. The term “secondary nature”, when put under a rural region situation, is simply a dependence on the exploitation of natural resources for development of the community. Also, in historical chronicles and setsuwa collections, the focus animals of the work are mainly concentrating on animals hunted for food or used in farming, such as dogs, sheep, cows etc. (Shirane, 2012, p16). All these animals are chosen to reflect the countryside lifestyle. It is not human that is following and obeying the laws of the primitive nature. Rather, it is human deciding what part of nature is going to be connected with them. Human hold the dominating role in this relation with nature, capable of turning primary nature into secondary nature. Thus, the harmony with nature, from a social and economic perspective, is truly a harmony with the secondary nature, and nature, in this case, is utilized by human for the development of the society.

Another important way to investigate the term “secondary nature” is through the literature and art works in cities, especially waka poems. The climate in Japan is not as ideal as it is depicted in waka poems in the Heian period. Though spring and autumn are mild and comfortable, but they are relatively short compared to the other two seasons (Shirane, 2012, p11). The summer is hot for most time, and for other time, it rains a lot. The winter is also harsh.

Japan is probably one of the countries that suffer the most snow during a year. The widely believed “harmony” is obviously not one that is directly connected to the primary and indiscriminate nature. Instead, as Shirane puts, it is not focusing on presenting what nature is, but on what nature is expected to be (Shirane, 2012, p81). In other words, the cultural and literature value of nature is viewed to be of higher importance than nature itself. According to Fujiwara no Shunzei, one cannot recognize the beauty of the scene without Japanese poetry (Shirane, 2012, p7). There is a regular fashion to interpret all kinds of seasonal scenes. For example, cherry blossom would represent a sense of evanescence. This fashion is so prevalent that the object in most poems can directly tell what kind of feeling the author is trying to express.

Such fashion is an expression of the emphasis on order and rules in the Japanese culture. From the aristocratic literature in the Heian period, to the stratified society in the Confucianism ideas in the Edo period, the society in Japan has long been closely related to the idea of stratification, and thus, orders and rules. Thus, in the aristocratic literature works, the secondary nature is a nature that is viewed, interpreted, and tamed in a way that follows the philosophy of ordering and rules in the Japanese culture. Shirane’s argument that the harmony of Japanese people with secondary nature is true, and under the background of aristocratic class literature works, secondary nature is a media for Japanese people to express their ideology through literature and arts.

In Haruo Shirane’s book Japan and the Culture of the Four Seasons: Nature, Literature, and the Arts, he points out that the “harmony” of Japanese people with nature is truly one that is connected to the “secondary nature”, as oppose to the primary nature. The term “secondary nature” should be interpreted in two different ways. One is in the rural region, where people’s focus is mainly on economic and social development, “secondary nature” is simply an exploitation of the nature resource. The other is in urban region, where the aristocracies are focusing more on literature and philosophy, the term should be viewed as a nature that is viewed and adapted to the ordering and rules of the Japanese philosophy. In any case, nature is a base that the Japanese society is built on, and the product is the so-called “secondary nature”.

Harmony And Balance In Architecture

People’s lives are getting stressful nowadays, home should be a place of peace so that people can relax after being in a stressful work environment. Architecture plays an important role in providing harmony and calmness to people, especially in residential architecture.

The concept of harmony in architecture can vary widely. An individual who concerns about architecture, or individual who knows nothing about architecture, we all can view and feel the building and architecture in different ways and perspectives. Although the perspectives and the aesthetic standards might not be the same, all of us can view and feel the harmony and calmness of the space from different perceptions. Pleasure we can get in the space not only depends on the people who experienced the space, but it always depends on the designs and elements of the space. The comfort human body in space created from many aspects such as visual, sound, temperature and sometimes, the combination of these.

This study is trying to ascertain how different architectural considerations, elements can combine to create a harmonious and balanced design. Besides, I would consider how balance and harmony impacts upon people’s perception of architecture. As architect we can learn a lot from analyzing proportion, size and scale of key case studies. Contrasting and comparing diametrically different case studies in terms of language and grammar might facilitate a greater understanding of key underlying principles of comfort and harmony. I would investigate the writings of architects and phenomenologists on experiencing and feeling ‘space’ through learning about the design work of John Pawson and Luis Barragan. Viewing documentaries on the work of John Pawson and Luis Barragan will be made to considerate of how the senses impact upon our perception of harmony and balance. Besides, I would compare and investigate these two dwellings which achieved harmony and balance in different ways with forensic drawing and analysis.

Harmony and balance in architecture is such an important factor to consider in our design process. Through these studies and analysis, I would be able to use these as a basic reference to achieve harmony and balance in designing a home. Having this kind of foundation of harmony in mind would be very helpful for us when creating a space, we can easily achieve harmony by adapting these application of elements. Besides, we could use these as a reference so that we can develop our own style and attain harmony at the same time.

Harmony: Improving Economies Through Decentralized Advantage

INTRODUCTION

If the digital community will ever amount to something in the financiaI world, it has to give out more than what it is able to give especially when it comes to using the cryptocoins for payments. What holds it down still it the poor level of scalability of this coins. Its inability to scale beyond 40 tps is quite disheartening to hear because the need for it to fit into use in the global market for payments demands something higher. Now everyone look up to see the scalability of the community improved so that there can be improvement to a certain degree where they can be boldly accepted by merchants during any operations.

This is the reason for the existence of Harmony that aims to bring the block chain to scale higher above the past and make good difference and improvement.

WHAT DESCRIBES HARMONY?

This platform is the next big thing in the ledger chain which aims at improving the use of cryptomoney through values it will be adding to the system. Its innovation is very timeless and trusted for any form of networking in the community. It has a team that has worked together and are still together to make sure they see the results they have predicted the platform to bring if all things are the same. The platform is very special from others that have existed before it.

When Harmony is compared with other platforms, it is confirmed that it is more improved with the way it uses a state Sharding which enables it to process many transactions at the same time and be safe for doing that. In this case, thousands of nodes will be used in contrast to how others used some few hundreds and that will increase the amount of operations being processed at a time. The entire information of the transactions being processed will be kept safe in the ecosystem and this will make decentralised solutions embraced. This type of technique is therefore known as the deep Sharding technique and in it, not just only transactions are sharded but also there is a consensus between those layers involved, talking about the nodes that are involved.

THE FEATURES OF HARMONY

This platform uses so many tools to make sure it expands the scalability of the community. It has a distributed randomness generation (DRG) to manage the nodes and perform necessary division when necessary and then it works on the speed and safety in general. All these tools are well used as a well coordinated version of ETHEREUM 2.0 and it eliminate every from of attack on the system.

Assigning different nodes to shards requires some level of professionalism that makes the security of the system stronger than it is. In this case to reduce attack, the system uses a random number generation scheme or model to connect different nodes to shards and have them work as one within the ecosystem. This will be done without giving any idea of the shards that will eventually be for a particular node and that will make everything perfect with no biasness in the activities. All the numbers that will be generated should also be subjected to verification and then the algorithm used must be confirmed scalable at all time because without that it will no provide the exact result.

Harmony has its strength from a special VRF and VRF protocols which works this. A VRF-based number is produced randomly from the validator node and then the random number is sent to the leading node for action. The t random numbers is taken by the leading node and actually have the final numbers generated from what is provided from the data it receives and then the next job is up to the VDF protocol that ensures that the process is secured and then a consensus algorithm is adopted to establish full scalability from what has been done already from the established consensus protocol.

This platform has such a bigger picture of the block chain scalability in mind and that is what makes the team works tirelessly to ensure that something very moment is gotten from the operations.

CONCLUSION

Now that all the right protocols are already kept in place, the testnet will make it able to scale up to more than hundred of thousands transactions per seconds with several thousandsnof nodes also involved in the operations. This improvement enhances the use of cryptocoins for all and make it easy for it to scale higher and better than Visa and master cards that are always accepted by merchants. Harmony will succeed in Increasing the sphere of cryptocurencies such that individuals will have no limitations using them and they can be adopted in all sector without any difficulties. I hereby advise that everyone be a part of the system.

Living in Harmony with Nature: Opinion Essay

We live in a pluralistic world, where each tradition has its own grandeur and limitations, its successes and failures. One thing we see that is common to all, at least in recent times, is that they all are trying to address the question of how we human species should live on Earth, and in my opinion, the answer is – in harmony.

There has been always a considerable amount of debate about creation as ‘static’ or ‘evolving’. In other words, was the universe created once and for all as a finished product, or was it created in such a way so as to evolve and to become. In the past, it has been considered that the universe came into existence as a finished product. In recent times, many believe that the universe and everything within it did not come into existence as finished products, but appeared in the course of a gradual, continuous, and progressive process. This process started as far back as our knowledge can reach. Thus, it is meaningful only when we talk about cosmogenesis rather than mere cosmos because the whole of knowable reality is in a state of becoming. Thus creation is not a finished product, but ever-evolving, progressing, and developing. The glory of God in His original purpose is revealed when the world (matter), and the presence of God (spirit) are not apart from the physical world, but rather through matter, and in a certain sense, in union with it. Teilhard de Chardin recognized correctly that God creates by unifying: “Creation has become visible to us under the basic aspect of the union as an ongoing process of bringing forth new beings that emerge from but are not identical with, the elements they unite. Therefore, we can say that more beings come into existence through union”.

In the first creation story in Genesis 1:26, we see that “let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea…upon the earth”. It is seen by many commentators as a key text in shaping the Human-Earth relationship in the Bible. Stating this same view Rene Descartes in his ‘Discourse on Method’ coins the characterization of humankind as “master and possessor of nature”. However, biblical scholars disagree on how such dominion is to be interpreted. On the other hand, the dominion or the commission is best understood as an invitation to human beings to act as the viceroys (stewards) of God. So, creation is not just the possession of human beings, it is something that is entrusted to humanity, which is responsible for its safekeeping and maintenance. This stewardship pictures human beings in harmony with nature, standing before God and ultimately responsible to God for their management of human affairs and creation. This vocation of human beings within creation is to image God. Acting in the image of God (Dominus) as described in the tradition of Jerusalem, would mean exercising the dominion of stewardship.

We must be aware that even this idea of dominion as stewardship can give way to the attitude of separation of human beings from the rest of the creation. Therefore, if we are to affirm dominion as stewardship, the emphasis must be added that stewards themselves are part of the creatures of the universe. Interestingly, even though human beings are separated from the rest of the creation by being created in the image of God (Gen 1:27), human dependence on the natural world and the interdependence of the elements within nature itself cannot be overlooked. This interdependence assumes the harmony that should exist between human beings and the natural world. Viewing human beings as part of nature and their dependency on nature is not striping of human beings’ privileges and position over nature, but it calls for a different outlook and leadership. The new leadership that is required of reflective disciples of Christ is a form of servanthood, and it does not hold much promise of fame and fortune. It is a matter of stewardship. The stewardship pictures human beings in harmony with nature and is singled out with special responsibility. As stewards and viceroys of God, human beings are confronted by an inalienable duty towards creation and are truly answerable for what happens to the household of creation. But, can we call ourselves stewards in the present world, given the fact of widespread damage done to the creation? How can we call ourselves protectors of the earth, given the situation of our time, with all the destructive activities like terrorism, violence, and hatred? I feel this is the call for each one of us to reconsider our role through true stewardship, in promoting and safeguarding creation.
