The Hard Work of Being a Soft Manager by William Peace

William H. Peace worked at Dictus Consulting as an independent consultant of management when he wrote this article. The article The Hard Work of Being a Soft Manager was written in 1991, but the conclusions the author of the article do remain up-to-date now.

The article under consideration represents the reader with the work of Soft Manager, his responsibilities and obligations, the difficulties which occur in the work of Soft Manager. The author starts the article with the definition of what the notion Soft Management means. We get to know that Soft management is not so simple a job as it could be imagined. Soft manager takes the heat for difficult decision and give unhappy subordinates a chance to unburden themselves at their expense (Peace).

The author tells about his personal experience as the Soft Manager in the article. The given examples, the Pieces stories told by him, help the reader to understand the idea of Soft Managing deeper.

The first story is about lay-offs when Peace worked as a manager of the Synthetic Fuels Division of Westinghouse. There were some problems and the company had to discharge people on grounds of staff reduction The example represents the reader with Peaces desire to meet all the employees and tell them the bad news. Peace wanted to tell the true financial position of the company and to allow everybody to ask him why they were discharged, to give people the opportunity to show their anger and disagreement to their employers.

The very work under the lay-off list was hard, and the meeting with those people worse. When all was done, Piece recollected in his mind the reaction of discharged people for a long time. But Piece was sure that it was important to tell that news personally.

When the time passed and the company was able to hire new people, Peace turned to those employees who were discharged, and they returned. Some of them even gave up their jobs. So, Pease understood that personal communication is very important in the work of a Soft Manager.

The author gives the example of his boss, Gene Cattabiani, who gained some success in his sphere with the help of his ability to get along with people. During his work, the union was organized, which represented the entire hourly workforce (Peace). This union was very unfriendly and refused to come into negotiations when the time dictated some conditions, the costs should have been cut. Gene decided to provide a strategy of respect, honesty, and openness. Lots of people did not believe in that strategy, but it worked.

So, the author concludes that openness and vulnerability should be the essential parts of the character features of the Soft Manager. He emphasizes that not all people could accept vulnerability as part of their character and tried to get rid of this feature. Peace thought that absolute control and complete charge of the situation could be very uncomfortable in the communication with people.

Peace had a great experience of communicating with people and knew for sure that the ability to listen to the opponents arguments and complaints, the understanding is much better than total control within the relations between employees and employers. Personal qualities are very important in the work of a Soft Manager.

Hard Work Versus Smart Work: Comparative Analysis

Hard work definitely calls out for efficiency, but not effective in accomplishing a task, what I believe lies under Smart work. The logic behind is overcoming the obstacles, managing the efforts and time, and sorting the tasks into small groups to ease up calls for smart work. Only few people can draw the line between smart and hard work, and those are the ones who can break any complicated task into small easy values with own time duration, Segregation and sorting is important and vital in accomplishing any task,

To achieve better results, one must clear the preconceived notion that every work needs plenty of hard work to be invested in, what I believe is hard work and smart work should go hand-in-hand, Hard workability placing in a lot of time and effort doing a certain amount of work. Whereas, smart work potential spends less amount of time performing the equal amount of work. Hard work targets at the volume and might also emerge as monotonous and boring after a positive period. Smart work objectives at reaching dreams with quality, working difficult involve a lot of tedious work which is carried out traditionally. But, if humans work smartly, they can reap more output by means of working in an unconventional and present-day way, the former utilizes the normal format of working, and there aren’t many modifications involved. On the different hand, the latter entails using historical thoughts and remodeling them to yield higher results.

People who work tough now and again feel that they weren’t able to attain their set goal. Smart workers acquire their dreams quicker via suited time management. An easy way to flip difficult work into clever work is by way of understanding the aftermath of the process. If one maintains on working constantly except any reliable results, then one need to think about working smartly. Rather than focusing all the interest on just the work, suppose about all the picks that can be undertaken to do the identical amount of work in much less time. Set deadlines and goals that they need to obtain in a set timeframe and prioritize the important duties first. This way one will no longer waste a lot of time on unimportant things. Contrary to this, some humans trust that there is no alternative for tough work.

Working smart is a shortcut that doesn’t work at all stages of life. Still, clever work has no doubt worked for many. If one can obtain the identical extent of work at an equal time, that is not exactly a shortcut; it is simply a higher alternative. If one can incorporate working tough and clever together, you will reap high-quality heights and lead yourself to a better life. One who works difficult and smart will in due direction of time procure all the advantages and rake in the golden probability to possibly no longer work at all.

Hard Work and Smart Work As Interrelated Concepts: Analytical Essay

In today’s fast moving generation, output is of importance. Each human development has been made to improve our ability to deliver results in the most productive manner conceivable. We try to produce maximal output with minimal input. The saying ‘hard work gets ahead’, has become a cliché, but it is true to some extent. However, simply working hard does not ensure success in the long-run. Smart work has become fundamental to guarantee achievement, no individual cares about how you get the work done, they simply want results. While hard work teaches you to be smart, smart work is more beneficial in the long-run because smart work helps you reach the optimum level of production, through smart work your objectives can be achieved quicker, it saves time and makes you more organized.

Smart work keeps a fine line between the two extremes of wasteful idleness and tireless hard work to be more productive. Abraham Lincoln once said, “If I had six hours to cut down a tree, I’d spend the first four sharpening the saw” (Admin, 2015). You can work hard and put in the hours, but the change happens when you aim to perfect your skills beforehand. Smart workers prepare the job ahead, they aim for today, while hard workers aim for success tomorrow. Another quote found on The Lifestyle Compound states that “It is not how hard you work but how much you get done” (Landsberg, 2014). Both hard workers and smart workers are working towards the same goal, the only difference is that the smart worker does it faster and reaches the optimum level of production in the process. In doing smart work the knowledge, assets, and skills required have been used more effectively.

Unlike hard work, smart work allows you to accomplish your goals faster. Research demonstrates that most manageable improvement exercises are those whose objectives are connected to accomplishing that goal (Industry Forum Contributors). Smart workers set small improvements now and their outcomes start instantly, building over time. This is outlined in a quote by Mark Twain, “Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection” (Industry Forum Contributors). If you delay starting a goal until you structure a total and impeccable plan, the odds are you will lose center and never execute any improvement whatsoever. “Striving for perfection will only delay your completion” (Kane, 2018). Furthermore, Bill Gates said that he would choose a lazy person to do a difficult job because a lazy person would find an easy way to do it (Burn-Callander, 2018). Hard work is not always necessary, smart workers find simpler ways to do the same task, they optimize the process, and make it more efficient. Hard workers plan for the future, delaying until perfection, smart workers implement plans for now, allowing them to attain their goals faster. Hard workers have a vision; smart workers make it a reality.

There is a fine line between smart work and hard work. Hard work can easily be diverged towards smart work. Research shows that working smartly consumes less time, lowers mental stress, and gets work done quicker (TT Bureau, 2018). Doing smart work enables you to spare time for other tasks. When you only have 24 hours a day, you need to begin working smart to get the maximum value for your time and exertion. Working hard delivers results, yet working smartly gives you top outcomes in less time. Working hard takes excessive time and is exhausting, as, after a considerable amount of work, you are left with no energy to do other tasks. Furthermore, smart work make you more organized as you make plans for today and do not wait for results in time. Life is brimming with opportunities, keen individuals can distinguish them rapidly and harvest achievement applying heart and soul, sparing time for later.

Working smart might be crucial, yet it is only part of the equation. No effective business visionary or official will disclose to you that it is a substitute for applying greatest exertion, working hard and smart go hand in hand. If you incorporate your hard work into smart work it will be of more benefit as it allows you to achieve your objective more efficiently, faster, and conclusively spares time. As HuffPost stated, “Work hard in making smart choices but be smart to put that hard work to use” (Khan, 2016). Make mistakes, however, be intelligent enough to learn from them. Work smarter, not harder. As Matshona Dhliwayo once said, “The early bird gets the first worm, but the wisest bird gets the fastest one” (Quotation Explorer).

Leadership in Action: Analysis of Hard Work and Dedication of Zhang Xin

Zhang Xin is a self-made female Chinese billionaire who ranks number 5 on the list of the world’s richest self-made billionaires. She grew up with her parents who were poor but worked hard specifically in the fields during the Mao revolution. As a result of this she was exposed to not only hard work and dedication, but also hardship. In addition to the article in the text, I also came across an article published by CNBC in 2017, which featured Zhan Xin as the woman who built Beijing. According to this article, Xin expressed that when she grew up in China in the 1960’s everything was gray. She lamented that the gray buildings were all built on gray bricks and everyone wore gray jackets. She, however, in her work of being an architect and property developer, brought some color and life to China by changing that paradigm. Today, China is known for its skyscrapers, lights, and color which some of the credit goes to Zhang and her husband’s real estate company SOHO.

Zhang’s personal characteristics set her apart from others in the business. Like those of hard work and dedication. These are two personal character traits that she has, which she acquired from watching her parents’ work ethic and her herself having to work as a young woman. This experience exposed her to the concept of hard work which she has applied in her own adult life and work. As a young woman, she moved to Hong Kong with her mom where they led a poor and hardworking life. Zhang worked in a factory. She credits her hardworking and humble beginning for shaping her personality traits of humility and thriftiness. According to the article, “Zhang Xin: The Humble Chinese Billionaire”, even though she can afford to, she chooses not to fly first class when she travels because it rests on her conscious when she remembers how hard her parents had to work to acquire what they had. And these values she’s also tried to pass on to her 14-year-old son. As a leader, she is also driven to make a difference, especially in Beijing, also adds to her list of personal characteristics which set her apart from her other business counterpart.

Culture plays a major role in who Zhang is. First of all, she was born and raised in China where being an entrepreneur is as regularly expected as working a 9-5 job in other parts of the world. Therefore, it wasn’t difficult for her to foresee that as a possibility. She saw China as a place where there is no limit to becoming an entrepreneur because it was enrooted in the culture of the people. Hence China having close to half of the world’s self-made female billionaires are from China. Secondly, the culture of her family, in which I believe had a greater impact on molding her into the humble successful business woman she is today. Zhang grew up in a family where hard work and dedication were their way of life: their culture. This kind of work ethic I believe is what majorly molder her into becoming the kind of person she is today. She was so influenced by that culture so much so that she herself worked in factories while she lived with her mother in Hong Kong and saved her money to get an education, which helped to propel her career. She studied at Cambridge University.

If I am to draw parallels between culture and Zhang Xin’s leadership as a successful business woman and the emergence of it, I would say that it was very much influenced by national and group culture. In the beginning of this paper, I mentioned that Zhang was born and raised in China where becoming an entrepreneur was not a strange thing, it was part of the people’s culture, it was their way of life. Being born into this kind of entrepreneurial environment shaped the way she saw the world and think. She was also influenced by what is called group culture. Which is another level of culture. In her case, her group was her immediate family: her parents. Who were tremendously hard working and driven? This culture of hard work and dedication which they constantly exemplified around Zhang not only taught her that through hard work one can accomplish anything, but it also encouraged her to become passionate in what she believed in and worked her for in order to achieve it.

Difference between Hard Work and Intelligence: Analytical Essay

Introduction

When simply defined, intelligence refers to the ability of a human being to apply knowledge to the everyday workings of life. Whereas hard work refers to, in simple terms, a great deal of endurance or effort. However, hard work is a term that is truly applicable to everyone, because it is not inborn. Hard work can be developed unlike intelligence, so where intelligence can fail you, hard work never will. This essay is to clarify the difference between hard work and intelligence and to decide what is the true ingredients for success.

Intelligence

Intelligence is something that is innate, something inborn. It is the ability for sharp, rapid, acute thought processing. It is generally measured using the Intelligence Quotient which we all call IQ in our routine life. It can be measured by taking an IQ test or taking part in courses that check your IQ. It doesn’t come to you if you mug up or search for it, as it’s not something physical that you can get or go buy somewhere.

Intelligence can be developed by sharp observing, the ability to understand and comprehend, and the ability to recollect what has been done or seen,.The ability to recollect takes most of the share of the IQ because there are many people who listen and understand but there are very few members who can recollect and comprehend it and place it correctly in the right place. Intelligence mainly describes the state of the mind and its understanding abilities. Thinking, reasoning, judgment, discriminating capacity, correlating ability, proper planning, and figuring something out, are all the factors that come into play when we talk about intelligence and things related to it.

The discrimination of one person against another other can be absolutely done based on his Intelligent Quotient (IQ). Speaking very generally intelligence is something that is very fast in its pace for example the problem-solving ability in mathematics, especially in

Trigonometry. If the proper approach strikes the mind, then the person is through with the solution, if they do not get the proper hint, then they have to struggle.

Hard Work :

Opinions

It is interesting to note that we at large place much greater importance on intelligence and gloss over the necessity of industrious work because time and time again, we exemplify the likes of Nikola Tesla, Marie Curie and Charles Darwin. We look upon them as pioneers of their fields and contributors to society at large. Yet, one thing we almost always overlook is the hard work they have put in, verily without which they would not have been where they are today and often credit their success to them simply being “intelligent”.

Examples

There is a Chinese legend himself, a multimillionaire business tycoon, Jack Ma. He is a man who is no stranger to failures.A man who failed multiple times in primary school, middle school and in University. He was rejected by the police force and even for a job at KFC. Despite all these failures and rejections, Jack Ma persisted throughout and it was not his intelligence that got him through, it was his untiring effort and hard work that paved the way. And now he is a man known to every person, every adult who wishes to do online shopping.

David Goggins, the toughest athlete on the planet, till now, believes that for anyone to achieve success, they do not need above-average brains but all they have to do is to embody discipline, determination, integrity, and perseverance. only then they will become great as hard work betrays no one.

Argumentative Essay: Hard Work and Smart Work to Achieve Success

You have probably heard this a hundred times, “you have got to work smart not hard to succeed”.

There is a lot of confusion on the internet about Smart work and Hard work, what we don’t realise is, both entail the word ‘WORK’ which is of paramount importance and has no substitute. Work is an important step on the ladder of success, but successfully completing work with least cost or efforts is what is called a smart work. How do you define working smart though? Would working smart mean less work and not working hard to be smart? If we work hard does that have nothing to do with working smart? Do smart people not work hard? Confusing, right! Let’s take a deeper look. The problem with the working hard vs. working smart dichotomy is that all too often we frame the choice as one in which we can only choose ‘hard’ or ‘smart.’ The question we should be asking is, why aren’t we doing both? Hard work and smart work go hand in hand. There is no denying that people need to work hard to create a foundation for great achievements. However, if students work smart, they can do the same amount of work faster and efficiently.

Specify, specify, specify

Making broad goals like how you want to be rich and have a gorgeous partner is not what’s going to get you from point A to B. It’s like telling a taxi driver at the airport, ‘I want to go to New York’. ‘Okay, New York what? State? City? What’s the street name? Zip Code?’. Think of your goals as your directions, like longitude and latitude, and think of your mind as your GPS. Your mind, and possibly someone else (if you believe a higher power is guiding you), will only be able to guide you toward your goals if you specify! avoid procrastination.

Avoiding procrastination seems very difficult when you’re in the throes of procrastination; however, it’s not very hard to avoid procrastinating if you start out your projects in the right state of mind. most people procrastination out of an emotional need for something. For instance, many people that procrastinate on their dreams out of a fear of failure because if I never try, then I never have to say I failed-I can always say, ‘I could have done it if I tried.’ So, to avoid procrastination of this kind, you need to get over the fact that you might fail-or better yet, to notice that this type of procrastination, rather than helping you to avoid failure, actually is the cause of your failure.

Prepare the Night Before

Planning ahead makes life go more smoothly under any circumstance. The unexpected will happen but it is better if a plan is in place, one that can be put in place if the unexpected occur and that is a good reason to plan the night before you face a new day. you can prepare for a productive tomorrow by planning a head to increase your productivity, by keeping a list and reviewing and focusing on what’s vital and urgent, most importantly avoiding daily distraction that you’ll be facing. This goes out to all the people who wouldn’t describe themselves as “a morning person.” When you wake up, the last thing you want to do is make big decisions about your workload and your schedule before your first cup of coffee has kicked in. Taking even 10 or 15 minutes to decide what you’ll be doing the following day can make a huge difference in your workflow.

Don’t Start From Scratch. “Don’t continue to re-invent the wheel… starting from scratch each time is a big time waster,” says Novak. Instead, she recommends finding and modifying templates you’ve utilized in the past or finding someone who has already done what you need to do and take a cue from them on how to proceed. This allows you to leverage other people or other resources to reach your goal as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Prioritize your focus.

There’s never enough time to do everything. You don’t have time to put everything neatly away, there’s not enough time to stay up on all the topics of interest, not enough time to read all the email and blogs coming in. Manage information based upon what’s important – which is defined by the first step. Identify and live with intentionality. You should never have more than two mission-critical items to complete each day. Never. This will force you to limit based upon your priorities. And if you’re thinking you don’t have enough time, re-frame that thought as an indicator of a lack of defined or applied priorities. But we think you’ll do better if you consider adding two more to your list, based on our research:

  • Give up getting it all done! You’ll never get all the 80% stuff done each day, so give up the goal of getting everything finished. It actually pulls you in the direction of non-priority stuff.
  • Pay Attention to what creates the most value. Most of us are far too fuzzy in identifying what creates the most value, what gets us closest to the objective. Without having that clear… you’re really not ready to face, much less seize, the day.

Work on your mental strength

Working smart will be easy if you have a vision, clear goals, and passion for what you do. It entails working with focus on a worthwhile goal. Even sportsmen who ply their trade with physical strength combine it with mental tactics. It is not about being physically strong but rather being a mental giant. You will hardly see the CEOs of big organisations with a macho man, muscular physique. So it is not physical strength that took them there but rather their mental strength. You don’t only work smart to be successful but also to sustain the success. Nobody has known good success without a good brain. That is why you must work at developing your mental ability. Ability to think fast, come up with great ideas, utilize the ideas and manage the resultant success. It is smart works that have seen people like Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz (both of Facebook.com) and Jack Dorsey (twitter.com) become great successes at pretty young ages.

Have an action plan

Greatness is derived from a synergism between a strong work ethic and an ability and willingness to work smartly. Merely knowing what needs to be done, and not working on it, never gets it done. Conversely, working hard but without the correct direction is nearly never meaningful either. Working smart means committing to effective listening, and from that developing plans, and an agenda to implement a realistic, yet needed action plan. Working smart means setting priorities, becoming a superior time manager, understanding human nature, and never procrastinating. Nothing gets done if you never begin!

Beware perfectionism

Perfectionism is a risk factor for obsessive compulsive disorder, obsessive compulsive personality disorder, eating disorders, social anxiety, social phobia, Even though perfectionists are often high-achievers, they are also at risk for eating disorders, sexual dysfunction, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, divorce, and suicide. They lead a life of continual anxiety and fear of failure. … They become extremely angry with themselves and depressed.’ Studies show that it requires 50% more effort to squeeze out an additional 10% improvement in quality. Learn to recognize the point at which ‘Good enough is good enough.’ Then stop.) Stick To the Blueprint of Your Organized Plan It’s a fact. Clutter and disorganization causes stress. In our world today, there are stresses we can not escape…..job, kids, bills, taxes and the list goes on. So why not DO something about the stress we CAN eliminate? When you first got organized you implemented a plan that would help you to achieve your goal. Now it is necessary to reference that to stay there. Whether things are labeled, simply have their own place, or there is a cohesive efficient design implemented, stick to the plan. It was put in place to get you organized and had served as a great companion in getting you there.

Conclusion

If you can incorporate working hard and smart together, you will achieve great heights and lead yourself to a better life. One who works hard and smart will in due course of time procure all the benefits and rake in the golden opportunity to probably not work at all, Working smart and hard can be stressful at times. Take a break whenever you feel tired or exhausted. Socialize and relax with your friends in the evenings. This will give you the necessary boost and enthusiasm to start another day’s work.

Hard Work As a Key to Success in my Family: Reflective Essay

My father was only twenty when he decided to take a leap of faith and agree to the extended invite from his uncle to come to the United States. Once he arrived, his feet hit the ground running. My dad turned to work in order to occupy his time here. The first job my father took on was at a factory owned by the well-known restaurant, at the time, Big Boys. The money from that job was able to sustain him for the time he lived alone. Once my father’s family started to migrate here his responsibilities began to expand. With these responsibilities expanding, his expenses also began to grow so he had to take on another job at a gas station to add to his income.

After a couple of years, my father wanted to marry my mother and start a family. When my mother became pregnant with my older brother, my father agreed that the minimal education he had wasn’t enough for his family so he went back to high school for his diploma. During my father’s time at both of his jobs, he came to understand management and the ropes of leadership. Coincidently while my father was shopping with my mom he had spotted a help wanted sign outside of an old Marathon gas station nearby our house. Once my father walked in to inquire about the sign he was greeted by a middle-aged man, who seemed eager to receive help. As my dad left the location, he turned towards my mom and said, “I’m going to own that place one day.”

During my father’s time at the gas station he worked as a janitor and restocked the shelves until the owner retired. The year I was born my father signed the papers with bob, who was the owner at the time. Now my father and my uncles partner and run the station together. Almost half of our family has either worked or benefited from my father’s success and he is extremely proud of everything he’s done.

Success is not something that simply falls at someone’s feet. Working hard is one of the key components for the recipe of success. If it wasn’t for my father’s hard work and determination, his family would still be working part time jobs and struggling to feed themselves. A person can’t simply wait for success to knock on the door to their life. Many immigrants, including my father came to the United States to do better for themselves and this country can help those who are determined to improve. Hard work is setting a goal and doing whatever it takes to reach it. Even if it means going back to school for a diploma or taking up a second job to support the family. Everything comes with a price. Success is achieving the goal after an extended period of hard work.

Success comes in many forms and means something different to everyone. Sometimes a large goal cannot be reached in a short amount of time and in the meantime, small goals can also be successful. A simple task such as making your bed in the morning is still considered success too many people. Whatever task that stands in the way should be tackled head on and with the best work that can be done. Hard work is the key to success and without it nothing can be truly achieved. Even when the odds stack up against a person they must perceiver in order to achieve the goal they set for themselves.

My aunt, Inayah is also one of the true hard workers in my family. She knew from a young age that being a teacher was something that she aspired to do and she went for it. My aunt became a chemistry major and usually attended classes in a male predominant environment. She struggled against all odds of failure and became one of the five female graduates in her class. Inayah studied day and night to receive her bachelors and eventually went on to graduate with her masters in hand. Finding a job after her graduation was an easy task thanks to all the hard work she had put into her classes. Not only can hard work lead to success but it can carry on to help after you’ve reached your goal.

When my grandfather was only a little kid the town he lived in didn’t have any form of proper education. The small farm his family owned was the only thing that seemed to be awaiting him in the future. The only possible way for my grandfather to change his situation at that time was to take a bus, travel 20 miles a day, and be back in time to help out on the farm. His family disapproved of all his actions and would do everything they could to stop him from going to school. Fortunately enough my grandfather did continue his education well into his late twenties and became a college professor and was able to draw out the blueprints of the public school of his home town. Unfortunately, he passed way before the plans could even be implemented. Till this day his school has put thousands of students out of fields and into classrooms, where they have went on to become professors, doctors, and writers.

Working hard is something that comes from the heart. The goals that my father, my aunt, and my grandfather were set according to each of their needs. My father poured his heart into building a future for his family, my aunt pushed past the social norms to prove herself in society, and my grandfather knew that education is the one thing that will help him rise above and help those in need. Success is a goal that each person strives to achieve, but without hard work and determination, that goal is unachievable. Working hard is definitely the key to success.

My Appreciation of the Hard Work: Opinion Essay

To begin with, throughout my whole life, nothing stands out more than self realization, and an accomplishment. Let me paint you a picture, image me as a 14-year-old class clown. My grades were terrible, I didn’t care for school. I would guess on every test and fail without a care. Instead, of paying attention in class, I would crack jokes and laugh the whole period. When report cards came out I would be the happiest kid alive if I have gotten C’s. In a nutshell, I was headed down the wrong direction. As I matured over the summer, I made a realization. I needed to do the best I can in order to achieve my goals. So during that school year I completely switched, I was the polar opposite. I was opposite of everything people thought of me as. I strived for success by building a great work ethic. Like the saying goes, there’s no substitute for hard work. You can achieve almost anything, if you put the time in. As I progressed throughout the year, I got the honor roll. This was an monumental moment because it meant a lot to me. It meant more to me than anything else. I came from being a D and F student, to next year being on the honor roll. It meant a lot to me, because no one expected anything out of me. That was an accomplishment, which started a turning point in my life. Just because I was a nobody, didn’t mean I can’t change myself. I can do whatever I desire, if I put the work in. I started to think it wasn’t because I was stupid, it’s because I didn’t apply myself. My point is that if you want to accomplish something, work hard. You have to go through the struggle to really appreciate what being on top feels like. My realization was that I was going in the wrong direction. My accomplishment was a honor roll. The honor roll really meant a lot to me. It embodied the whole process, from the ups and downs. The process taught me a life lesson that I will never forget. If you’re not where you want to be, it’s not because you were born to fail. it’s because you didn’t work hard enough. What else is there to say, if you want it nothing can hold you back.

Secondly, There’s another realization I want to talk about. Besides the honor roll and going down the wrong path, there’s family. I realized that my mom really wanted me to succeed. She invested a lot in me, so I want to do it for her. My mom went to a prestigious university in Poland. She wants nothing less out of me, but success. All by sisters went to a university, so I have no choice to do the same. Besides the pressure from my mom, I wanted to go to a good university as well. All of these accomplishments, and realizations made me who I am today. Without these things in my life I wouldn’t be the person I am today. As a matter of fact, SAT scores came out today. I lived up to my dreams and accomplished a goal of mine and my mother’s. I will be attending a university that’s been on my mother and I’s radar. So as I was preaching about hard work and dedication, there’s proof. The proof is that throughout the three years of hard work, I accomplished something great. I now have a deeper understanding of my mom, and why she pushes me so hard. She knew I had potential, but in the beginning didn’t live up to it. But after my break through, it all was going according to plan.

In conclusion, my realization of my wrong doing turned me into a workaholic. From the time I was an F student to then become an honor roll student. To wanting to get into a university, and actually making it a reality. I truly appreciate the hard work because I bare the fruits of labor because of it. On that note, I will leave you with this, you truly appreciate success, if you have been through the struggle.

Hard Work Always Pays Off

I agree with anything may be achieved via hard work and determination. I have located this to be factual not simplest via what happens round me but via myself. I stumbled upon this belief thru the trial and tribulations I faced in the course of my childhood.

As a infant I changed into no longer raised in a tough area, nor changed into I poor, trouble simply somehow found me in and out of school. Whether it become dilemmas at faculty or conflicts at domestic I changed into now not headed down the appropriate direction that I am nowadays. I had no concept of what I desired for myself in the destiny. All I knew is that I wanted to achieve success changed into no longer certain how, or wherein to start, simply knew I wanted to be successful. That’s whilst I became brought to the late Walter Payton, a famous iconic football superstar too many, at that point in my life he turned into unknown to me. Until I was added to a book called ‘Never Die Easy’, a biography of Walter Payton. In this e-book it confirmed Walter now not only as football player however a person, a person who would as an alternative spend time with love ones and less fortunate as opposed to going to golf equipment and blowing cash or while others sleep he might run the hill to get better. For him the grind by no means stopped, there’s always a manner to enhance yourself. He became the definition of difficult paintings and willpower each on and off the sphere and the consequences you can acquire from that, along with having a prestigious football award named after you that commemorates the core values that you used closer to being no longer only a superb player however a awesome man or woman. I respect him, he changed into never in hassle on or off the sector continually made the appropriate choices simply an all-round notable human being.

This released me into my sports journey. I excelled at multiple sports but soccer stood out above the rest. No longer best changed into it the sport Walter Payton performed and excelled in, but required the maximum coronary heart and determination. I couldn’t stay away from it: soccer saved me faraway from hassle because I was so dedicated to the game and what came together with it. Day in and day trip rain, snow or sunshine continually working, pushing myself in the weight room. The crashing of the weights as the 20 kilogram bar went up and down with multiple forty five pound plates on each facet of the squat and bench rack; or the freshly reduce grass on the sphere within the morning just because the sun is coming up to begin a new. The second you step on that grass it is like stepping thru a threshold, you’re a specific character in a one-of-a-kind global it feels as if your troubles leave it turned into my sanctuary.

So, thru my tough paintings and dedication I became capable of translate that into now not most effective a successful football career however average athletic career and later down the road that could lead me to in which I am today a student athlete at Old Dominion University. Honestly what supposed the maximum, and still runs via my thoughts today become the senior ceremonial dinner I became identified not most effective for my talent on an off the sector but for my relentless work ethic and refusal to quit below any instances on and off the field. Although it’s far best words, difficult work and determination had been absolutely essential in attending to wherein I am nowadays and I could not see myself in the situation I am in without it.
