Introduction

A persons health is very important and should be taken care of at all costs. While many factors affect a persons health, nutrition and fitness habits are among the major contributory factors. Nutrition habits are very important since what we eat is the chief determinant of our health. Our body also needs exercise to be in a position to utilize the food that we eat appropriately. Since I know the importance of good nutrition, I practice good nutrition and fitness habits.

First and foremost, I always eat a balanced diet because the body requires all three classes of food in the right proportions. Every meal that I take especially the main meals must contain protein, carbohydrates and vitamins. Moreover, since I like taking snacks, I make sure that I eat healthy snacks that include vegetables and fruits. I take water regularly and to enhance the same, I always carry enough clean drinking water in my bag so that I can access it every time I need it. There are some snacks that I decided to eliminate from my diet since they have little benefit in the body. For instance, I rarely take sugary snacks and beverages since they are not very healthy and are great contributors to nutrition and health problems.

For fitness purposes, I always get involved in moderate exercise. For example, it is my habit to jog in the morning for around twenty minutes before embarking on my daily activities. In addition, whenever I get a chance, I also engage in other sports like swimming once a week. Walking briskly is also a fitness habit that I have adopted as it is very important.

Obesity is a condition that arises when the body mass index turns out to be thirty or more. It generally refers to a condition where a person has more weight, greater than what is healthy for a particular height. Obesity is a health hazard because causes many diseases and health conditions like heart diseases. Some conditions linked with obesity are serious risk factors of various heart diseases. Three New Fitness Habits that can be Incorporated in my Lifestyle

Walking is one of the fitness habits I can incorporate into my routine. Experts explain that even a twenty-minute walk in a day can make a great difference since walking is a form of exercise. Instead of driving and sitting down, I would be spending some time walking because when I am busy, I do not get time to practice regularly. Since I spend most of my time seated, I will avoid playing games that spend less energy like computer games. Instead, I will incorporate exercise habits like bike riding and leg lifts given that they are more appropriate and makes someone lose more energy (Insel & Roth, 2007).

Fitness habits are very important because they will contribute greatly to improving my health. To begin with, exercise is very important since it increases someones strength. For example, some of the exercise habits like lift ups are very important in strengthening ones muscles thus increasing body strength. In addition, exercises like running, walking and bike riding are very important in improving body flexibility. Lastly, the exercise habit will also help to improve the bodys endurance. The above habits are very important in burning excess body fat and the same is very important in improving and increasing endurance.

Nutritional Habits to Be Incorporated In My Lifestyle and Their Benefits

First and foremost, I will incorporate a balanced diet in all my meals. Most importantly, I will ensure that I eat the right proportions as highlighted in the food pyramid. Secondly, I will make sure that I will be eating in moderation because there is no bad food as long as it is eaten cautiously. For instance, I have been avoiding taking sugary beverages and since they are not all that bad, I will incorporate them in my meals but in moderation. Lastly, I will be making more healthy food choices. For example, it is important to eat healthier foods than to eat foods of low nutrition value. Instead of eating highly processed and polished cereals, I will be eating whole grains and unpolished cereals.

The new nutrition habits will improve my health greatly. To begin with, eating a varied and balanced diet is very important because it will boost my immunity and therefore, protect my body from diseases. Making healthy food choices is very important because it will help maximize the benefits of each type of food. Eating moderately is effective in improving health because it prevents someone from developing nutrition disorders that are detrimental to the health of a person.

Bodyweight is greatly determined by a persons nutrition habits and therefore, the above-mentioned nutrition habits will be very helpful in promoting healthy body weight. For instance, eating a balanced diet in the right proportion helps to prevent excessive intake of fatty and starchy foods which contribute to obesity and overweight. In addition, eating in moderation also helps to ensure that a person has taken all the important nutrients which are a great contributor to healthy body weight. Lastly making healthy food choices is also very important because it enables a person to eat more healthy foods which in turn results in healthy body weight (Insel & Roth, 2007).

The American content, trends and culture is promoted on the mass media all around the globe and it leaves its mark wherever it is witnessed. Over the years, Pakistan has developed cultural behavior change in many aspects and trends. Even a behavior change in Family planning has been influenced by cultural and social factors from the west (S Agha – 2010).

One aspect of this influence is fitness. The western media has emphasized on fitness in such a manner that it has spread all over the world as a trend and cultural change. The American media has made looks and body ideals because of which the people adopt fitness and health measures (CS Warren – 2013). Started off in the US, this culture managed to make its way in Pakistan and, it’s spreading vastly. People are concerned about their health and fitness with a motive of an ideal body image.

Just a few years back, this culture was close to non-existence. People who were into fitness or health concerns were a minority. Nowadays, people take necessary steps to achieve fitness. Another medium of influence and culture spread can be stated as the social media. People all over the world follow Hollywood celebrities, models, pages and blogs. Famous movie star and former wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is known to be a fitness enthusiast who promotes and motivates individuals to develop an interest for fitness. Almost every celebrity nowadays is into fitness. Not just in the US but even celebrities of Pakistan. Keeping all these factors in mind, it can be observed that the western media has come a long way to create an influence on the world to spread its culture and bring about a change in cultural behavior of others. Moreover, many theories fit in this situation. The Accumulation theory, which shows how the mass media focused on this existing situation in a consistent way and the public started becoming aware of this fitness trend. More and more information is being provided by the mass media which is changing behaviors, beliefs and attitudes of the general public and with time, individuals change to accumulate and become new forms of orientation.

Another theory known as the Adoption theory fits in well with this situation. It consists of five stages. The awareness stage, in which people got to know about the fitness culture through western media. Interest stage, in which people started developing an interest for fitness from the provided information. Evaluation stage where individuals use the information to analyze the importance of fitness in their lives. Then comes the Trail stage in which the individual motivates him/herself to start working on fitness. Lastly, the Adoption stage. By this stage, the individual has adopted the fitness trend on a continuous full scale.

The Modelling theory also fits to an extent, in this situation. The theory focuses on individuals who think that this specific behavior is appealing and worth imitating. This theory also consists of five stages, similar to the Adoption theory. Observation, where an individual observes an action performed by a model or celebrity. Identification, in which the individual identifies as the model and relates to them. Imitation stage where the individual reenacts and gets encouraged. The Reproduction stage where the individual is rewarded by reproducing the activity. The last stage is Adoption. In this, the positive impact increases the probability of the individual to repeat the activity.

The Accumulation and Adoption theories refer to the mass media and especially social media which has changed this cultural behavior by portraying fitness in an interesting, attractive and healthy activity. On the other hand, the Modelling theory refers to the models and celebrities who use the mass media as a stage and a channel of communication to motivate the people into adopting and imitating trends and cultures. The people who follow US celebrities and models are highly influenced by them and adopt the trends and cultures they promote. Fitness being one of them, is a highly practiced, commonly followed and somewhat compulsory for the celebrities and models, motivates people all over the globe and this has been witnessed to grow in Pakistan.

As all partners agreed to expand the business to a new ground, that would not be easy in real. Thus, if the place is anywhere closer to a city area with all the routing facilities would be the idealistic place to satisfy that member in fact generate revenue. Another possible issue that would arise be, the means of getting used/condemned equipment supplies to their newly formed business for refurbishments. The delivery modes should be convenient for both parties and that would not lose the existing market share as well. In that case, Fitness Retread has to keep up their marketing strategies up enough to maintain the business name among the community and this has also a part to plat with location planning too. As Sandy says, the launching programs customized for members according to their age, health standards, office patterns and busy schedules with their personal lives would create more opportunities for them to pitch in. For instance, if the Core Fitness can have fitness programs specifically focusing youth, old and kids age groups individually, members would feel much more comfortable and relaxed to work out with same aged colleagues and that would make a loyal member base around the Core Fitness network.

Factors in favor of the business

As we discussed, there are ample number of prospects that Core Fitness and Fitness Retread can look into. With the correct vision and prompt decisions with utter wariness, the company can exploit new market horizons generating profits in terms of money as well as good will.

The on-going demand for the fitness centers is the core advantage that they have as people are in desperate need of getting healthier with their busyness. That would be the utmost factor and the brand name that they have been growing up for over 35 years, gives them the market leadership in and around the regions that they have been operating in.

Also, repairing and reselling of equipment can be considered as the novelty of their thinking, which has shown solid growth in the coming future. The reason behind this is, as they are being in the industry for a considerable period of time and the other gyms and home users need to get their repairs done from a place with reputation and reliability. Fitness Retreads have that verge of advantage over any other competitor as they fit into that profile that one would look into. With a solid plan of emphasizing their business values to the market would gain large portion of value to the company allowing them to increase their profit margins.

Other suggestions or expanding Fitness Retreads

With or without knowing the technicality Terry Edwards has utilized the “Reverse Logistics” theory throughout his refurbishing and reselling process. When a product has reached its intended end of the lifecycle they are usually discarded. But with reverse logistics the product is given a new path. Also given the alarming rise of the climate change effects and the world being turned over to become ecofriendly and responsible about their waste, reverse logistics has been proving to be just the solution by portraying the waste to be useful.

As per the supply chain network of a certain product when the manufacturer has sent it off for either the end consumer or a distributor the stream of the SCN is ended. But now anything that comes after the delivery of the product is listed under reverse logistics. It could vary from the customer returning the exercise equipment due to a fault, a customer refusing to accept the exercise equipment at the event of cash-on-delivery to discarding the equipment when they are either broken or reached its maximum capacity.

In this case Terry repair, refurbish and resell the exercise machines and equipment as good as new. In terms of the environment this reusing of a product is exactly what people after in this era. Therefor Core Fitness has a major competitive advantage in marketing since they can address the sustainability.

Being fit has now become everybody’s goal and the company should focus on the youth who got a lot of free time in their hands and free up the day time slots for them. And the working women should be encouraged to join with exciting time slots that would fit their schedules. It would assist with expanding the client base of Core Fitness. The company should offer discounts and coupons on their membership programs. It would help to attract more customers. Offering a discount on the membership, a coupon and an installment payment system would also attract customers.

Furthermore reducing the overall cost of the company would be helpful. And improving the efficiency of the entire value creation process would be beneficial for the company.
