People started migrating from small towns to big cities for advanced opportunities and convenient life which is directly related to the increased demand for energy in the form of electricity, natural gas, and fuel for their daily living which further contributes harmful emissions to the atmosphere. Moreover, It has been recorded that since the 1900’s with the contibution of humans, the global sea level has risen around 7-8 inches due to which the coastal communities have been affected very badly as the land is sinking per decade and the sea level is rising (Sea level rise). The two ways due to which global warming causes the sea level to rise are the melting of glaciers which further add up into the ocean water and secondly, the expansion of the volume of the ocean as the water warms which will result in floods and droughts. The salty water will further damage the crops and destroy the ecosystem. The information in the media is not biased as media these days have high coverage worldwide which affects people’s opinions a lot. It acts as an alarm that let the people know about the next moves they have to take whereas at some places they flip really well due to the lack of knowledge and deliver misinterpreted calculations which makes the people non-serious and uneducated regarding the awareness they need.

Although, the similarity between both of them was the concept the calculations provided by the media sources were wrong and they were not able to give in-depth or legitimate information. Moreover, the alternatives provided by the media to overcome the impact. Personally, I would like to refer the scientific peer-reviewed sources because their information is accurate and reliable to a major extent whereas if we talk about the most influential source then it would be the media as the vast majority of people are not aware enough of the peer-reviewed sources and more likely will refer the media and rely on them.

It is totally proven that Global warming is happening and it will remain the same even worse if we humans won’t change our habits. We should need to alter some of the dependencies on the resources that are affecting our climate. Moreover, global warming is continuously changing the Earth’s climate. The best way to control it is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Industries should reduce energy consumption by using other alternatives like energy-saving machinery. Big companies should encourage employees to use green commutes by rewarding them. Reduce the flow of traffic congestion, stop the use of fossil fuels or coal, etc, and plant more trees. These are some small steps that humans should take to control the global warming.

A common theme throughout all of Al Gore’s speech is his employment of manipulation of language in order to establish a sense of unity between him and the audience. By using words like “we” “us” and “together,” Gore connects himself to the audience in order to make the atmosphere more comfortable. Through the use of this technique, he also changes the tone of the argument from confronting to open and hopeful. Furthermore, he continues to appeal to his audience’s demographic by referring to America as a democracy, rather than a republic. This attracts his mostly liberal audience. Global warming occurs due to the natural rotation of the sun that changes the intensity of sunlight and moves closer to the earth. Another cause of global warming concludes greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide( they trap the solar heat rays and prevent them from escaping from the surface of the earth) This has caused the temperature of the earth to increase. Volcanic eruptions are another issue that causes global warming. For instance, a single volcanic eruption will release a large amount of carbon dioxide and ash into the atmosphere. Once carbon dioxide increases, the temperature of the earth increases and the greenhouse traps the solar radiation in the earth. Finally, methane is another issue that causes global warming.

Now there are solutions that we are able to stop warming. However, we humans and governments have to move forward to implement warming solutions. To scale back warming we will reduce the contribution of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Therefore, the solutions that we are able to reduce warming are reducing gasoline, electricity, and our activities that cause warming. to scale back gasoline means we have the option to choose a hybrid car that reduces gasoline. Besides, petrol prices are increasing. If someone everyday drives to figure they have to pump petrol after 3 days and cause greenhouse emissions. differently to cut back gasoline is to require conveyance or carpool to figure. It can help reduce greenhouse emissions and save costs. A different way to scale back warming is recycling.

Recycling can reduce garbage by reusing plastic bags, bottles, papers, or glass. For example, after we take out, we will use our own containers rather than plastic bags. Another example is after finishing drinking the water from the bottle; we are able to reuse it or use our own bottle. If all this is often being re-used, humans can reduce deforestation and help save the environment. Besides, close up electricity if unused. Overall, I’ve understood that our earth is extremely sad and sick :(. We humans have to “heal” the world. heating has caused many problems for humans but we humans who make heating happen. Many of us have died due to disease or disaster. It also affects the economy of the country. However, we’d like to cut back on warming by using less gasoline, recycling, and humans should help to scale back heating rather than making the earth’s temperature increase. Our generation should start taking care of the world because, within the next generation, they’re going to suffer if we don’t reduce warming. Therefore, warming may be a serious issue now. Over the years, the use of automobiles has grown substantially. Some of these countries have a rapidly growing population, and others do not have adequate funds to help protect civilians from the effects of global warming. However, some countries mentioned such as the UAE have sufficient funds, but with an issue of inequality, not everyone in the country will receive the same benefits as those who can actually afford them.

The solutions to global warming may sound challenging, but they can be achieved with a combined effort, The current state of the Earth is not up to par, but with the right monitoring, the proper tools, and sufficient information, this doesn’t have to continue and the current and future generations can stop global warming. As a result of high temperatures many people who are not wealthy and live in poor areas will feel the change the most, yet everybody will be affected by heat because it harms human life (“The Burning”). If the world loses its biggest producer of oxygen, a worldwide problem will occur which will lead to death. Humans are the primary effect as a result of climate change, we depend on plants for oxygen and if they are wiped out so are humans. One of the most popular is to set targets to reach “net zero” carbon emissions within a defined geographical border (qtd. in “Omissions”). “Net zero means taking as much carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere as you put it in, and this requires assumptions about as yet unproven ways of subtracting that carbon from the atmosphere”(“Omissions”). “Many countries have promised to adopt a net-zero which takes carbon emissions inside the atmosphere by the year 2050” (“Omissions”). As in many places it is known for climate change to be real they have come up with a resolution that will decrease the amount of carbon dioxide in the air to prevent toxins from harming Earth. Australian meteorologists researched the percentage of climate reports in different areas and found different statistics around the cities, islands, and small states (“Heatwaves”). The numbers are rising in Australia and people have noticed that their surroundings aren’t the same anymore, so they have taken into consideration a plan to help the world decrease their temperatures. Reducing plastic bags and littering are beginning steps toward ending this monster. “Meanwhile, promoting electric cars, solar, wind, and biogas energy, and renewable energy in the hydropower sector, among others are some premises initiatives to challenge climate change” (“Lack of Scientific”). Tesla car company created a vehicle without electric power which is eco-friendly and does not damage greenhouse gases as much as a regular car that runs on gas.

It’s more than clear that every day we are closer to extinction. Half of Antarctica is melting, and people are killing bees who are the carriers of pollen that benefit humans. We need to prevent heating and alternative effects on temperature change. If the earth’s temperatures still rise in the future, living things on earth would become extinct thanks to the high temperatures. If everyone joined to take the stand and take a look at to finish most of the climate changes that square measure occurring, this world would be a safer place to measure on. The question of if global warming is real has been a controversial topic throughout the past several decades. Since Earth in the past has been through severe climate changes, some people believe the warming of the planet is normal and society will survive. Others claim the temperature increase has already dealt irreversible damage and needs to be controlled, otherwise, disaster will unfold. In addition, there are other arguments involved such as the claim that global warming is human-induced. All reasons are equally valid if they can be backed up with evidence but it’s difficult to know. Furthermore, the reason which will be explored further in this essay is: some people don’t believe in global warming because of their political ideology.

Republicans and Democrats are known to disagree on important topics. The topic of global warming is included. The Republican nature is to resist change while the Democratic nature is to be open to change. Most of the members of the Republican party refuse to acknowledge global warming as a threat, while the opposite is true for Democrats. The distinction is important to understand because the United States is a country with a plethora of resources. How these resources get distributed plays an important role in the citizens’ lives. Understanding who stands on which side should be made aware to all citizens. Additionally, the reasons why Republicans don’t believe in global warming can help others to decide what to believe. However, some believe that political status has nothing to do with the belief in global warming because whether they are conservative or not, it won’t matter when the warming of the planet causes more economic damage compared to the cost of preventing it now. A short-run sacrifice of resources will ensure that the planet continues to thrive in the future. Nevertheless, this viewpoint is incorrect because they are using foresight to compare the situation now, to a possible future. Anyone can make a guess at what might happen in the future, and there is no way of knowing if global warming will truly impact the world someday. Consequently, this argument loses its credibility because it fails to understand that global warming is a complex issue.

From a political point of view, the opinions on global warming from the Republicans and Democratic parties became more divided in the 1980s. Ronald Reagan and his team considered that global warming policies would hurt the economy of the United States and limit their parties’ power in politics (Dunlap & McCright, 2008, p.2). As a result, more support for anti-environmentalist policies occurred in the Republican party during that time. The words spoken by Reagan infected others with the same idea that these policies will damage the economy. This would increasingly widen the gap of opinion between the parties which would continue in the 2000s. Today, Republicans have a lower chance to believe in global warming than Democrats (Brewer, 2012, para.19). The influence of Reagan and other Republican leaders are a major contributor to others’ assumption that global warming is a hoax. The duty of a politician is to get elected officially and represent their followers. They attempt to persuade the public to believe in their opinion (Brewer, 2012, para.18). Because of self-interest, they will say what will get them the most publicity and votes. An example of a politician using global warming to gain personally is Al Gore. His claims about global warming were purely out of greed instead of correctly informing the public (Lejano & Dodge, 2017, p.13). Consequently, it’s not out of the question that some politicians would claim global warming is a hoax to receive support from non-believers. Furthermore, the republican party has been easily susceptible to influence. The party has been known to ignore the media and keep its ideals within the party while refusing to consider alternate possibilities. They convince each other by changing opinions and trusting what the media claims about global warming (Lejano & Dodge, 2017, p.4). In addition, those who search for evidence tend to find evidence that only supports their opinion rather than a different point of view (Kahan, 2013, p.1). Additionally, some people refuse to believe in global warming because it’s expensive to fund. The cost of preventing this relatively new concept from occurring is difficult for some people to accept. Consequently, the budget for global warming has been rising steadily over the past few years. The funding towards environmental projects has increased as well as the taxation on citizens. Over time, The U.S. plans to donate 3 billion to the U.N. to aid in preventing global warming (Halliman, 2017, p.3). Although the amount is relatively low compared to the government’s budget, it can easily be multiplied into several more billions. The large amount of resources being donated does not agree with the Republican ideology. The resistance to change is the defining trait of the Republican Party. Their ideology creates comfort and feelings of certainty (Njoroge, 2011, p.10). Naturally, anything that is a danger to their comfort is rejected. Others who agree with Republicans will find that they are also against the insertion of higher taxes because it interferes with the current economy (Njoroge, 2011, p.26). A higher tax rate is the consequence for everyone, which can drastically change the economy negatively. Therefore, those who are against this level of change will likely claim that global warming is a hoax.

Furthermore, the psychological traits of conservatives impact their opinion on global warming. The traits that make Republicans different from Democrats are what fuel their arguments. Studies have shown that conservatives are less likely to believe in global warming because of the potential problems it will create in the future (Campbell & Kay, para 8). They feel endangered by the threat of global warming and therefore consider it a hoax out of their own feeling of uncertainty. The key difference between Republicans and Democrats is that one group is content with the consequences of global warming while the other is terrified. (Campbell & Kay, para 8). Democrats are open-minded individuals who embrace adversity while Republicans are close-minded individuals who crumble when situations change. The cognitive difference between the two parties is an important reason as to why Republicans are more likely to believe global warming is a hoax.

To conclude, global warming is a topic that is becoming more troublesome in society. The debate will continue until one group surrenders to the other. Politically, the two parties have their own reasons to believe or not to believe in global warming. These differences in the political parties are a major contributor to the belief of global warming and the influence of others. The open mind of Democrats allows them to consider change and the unknowns for the future, while Republicans are the opposite. Their ideals constrict them to staying the same while their customs refuse the acceptance of new scientific information. Whether they change opinions in the future will be interesting because if the increase in temperature becomes more evident, it will be futile to ignore it. Because of fear of change, and influence from others, Republicans refuse to believe in global warming as a result.

I appreciate the beauty of nature and everyday occurrences in a way that I love starting my day by seeing the beauty of nature in the very simple things around me, such as the mountain, trees, plants, and some animals that were here on our farm. I will say that this is the true life of being simple. And every day for me is like a gift, and every gift is beautiful in its own way. Sometimes the gifts are not directly received or given from one person to another, but they are simply all around us. They wait for us to notice and appreciate them. Just like nature, although before we ignore the beauty of it, it seems as time goes by nature or our environment gets better. So, God, give us the gift of being present and being open to the wonderful world that surrounds us. Appreciate the little things because sometimes the little things make you happy and contented. And also, we are often reminded that the little things are the ones that really matter in life, yet we are prone to be distracted by the pursuit of big milestones in our busy lives. Live in these moments that exist between the big events, and they will define you as much as the larger occasions that we remember. Every day is full of fragments that we can appreciate and cherish.

Nature and its beauty are infinite. Some people find beauty and happiness in little things. But, some of us fail to see the beauty of nature around us. So, we just need to open our eyes and look around for a while. You will start seeing the beauty of nature in the very simple things around you. And some simple habits to appreciate the beauty of nature are planting a tree, making a garden, going hiking trails, watching more sunsets, reducing pollution, and last protect our nature. We can’t live without nature. The beauty of nature keeps us alive and happy.

As a future educator, I will do the best thing I know to teach and make all students appreciate the beauty of nature even in a simple way. Although by now all children are exposed to using different gadgets, and as a result, they no longer experience or do the things that children were used to doing before even seeing the importance of nature. But as a future teacher, I will do or create some activities that maybe children will love, being present to their different ideas, encouraging them to participate, promoting creative thinking, giving them good feedback, and also giving them a chance to appreciate and see the real world, because I believe their ordinary day living can make wonderful by exploring or trying different things to see that there is something in our everyday life that we need to figure out.

Ecological Footprint and How to Reduce It: Analytical Essay

The ecological footprint of man is a debatable issue because every year people are causing more and more damage to the environment, which already has extremely negative consequences, not to mention the future. In this essay, I’m going to look at the three main factors that determine our ecological footprint, namely food, homes, and driving, and how we can reduce it.

Stop Eating Processed, Packaged Food to Allow for Your Ecological Footprint to Decrease!

Food is something we have to consume on a daily basis to survive. Food is prepared in many ways, packaged in many ways, and often grown in different areas. But the way we chose to cook and eat our food is completely up to us and what we prefer, but what we prefer may not be beneficial for our health and can increase our ecological footprint. In order to lower our ecological footprint, we as consumers need to make sure the food we eat is locally grown, allowing for easy transportation, is unprocessed and unpackaged, and this is healthier for us as individuals.

The dominance of beef (31%), dairy (18%), and chicken (13%) is quite clear, accounting for 62% of the total footprint. In some ways, this is logical because before animal products can be consumed, the animals must first be reared using the feed, which itself can be quite carbon-intensive to produce. Most food supplied cannot be eaten and this goes to waste. Fresh food is mostly lost during repackaging within the stores, the main cause of food loss in retail is that shops cannot always sell food before the expiry date, and all the food is just thrown away, which is thousands of food items per week. We waste food at home due to the fact that we do not eat all the food we buy and most food is lost during the process of cooking. Foods are grown, processed, packaged, and transported very differently depending on the kind of food group, therefore their footprints are thus very different. The main point of emissions being released occurs during the production of food. This means how our food is produced is the most important factor in our food footprint. Methane emissions occur mostly due to enteric fermentation in animals like cows, sheep, and goats, so they are largely limited to the beef and dairy food groups.

A method we can use to lower our ecological footprint is to change our diet. I am personally trying to change my diet, and although it is quite difficult to stick to, I am trying my best to stick to it so that I can benefit animals, my health as well as my ecological footprint. Foods such as animal products are less efficient than that plant products and therefore need far more energy to produce these types of food. Therefore, we must not eat processed foods or lower our intake of processed foods. We must cut down on animal-based products due to the fact that the animals are fed before with a feed that contains many chemicals such as methane and substances which may not be healthy for us. If we do this, we will be saving the lives of thousands of animals that are slaughtered daily to feed us, as well as helping our ecological footprint.

Live Big and Have Little, or Live Small and Have Many

Besides food, our homes are also determined our ecological footprint. A home is a building that accommodates me as well as my family and has everything we value in it. A house is a roof over our heads and protection through the cold, heat, storms, and more. A house can often be taken for granted and not used to its full potential, for example, I don’t need a massive house for a family of 3, as it would just result in extra cost, extra space waste, and much more. A house with a smaller lawn compared to a house with a big lawn has a smaller ecological footprint, whereas a house with a big lawn has a larger ecological footprint. To lower the ecological footprint, we should stay in a smaller house that still accommodates every member of the family. In order to keep the ecological footprint at a minimum, we should use renewable resources to build the house and make sure it is energy efficient. Some housing appliances that I have in my home, such as the electric stove and refrigerator, are not energy efficient, and this can lead to my ecological footprint increasing drastically. I also never turn appliances off even when I am not using them, which is a major problem. House appliances such as dryers take up a lot of energy and this increases our energy consumption. Houses with larger lawns tend to have a higher increase in our ecological footprint due to the fact that all kinds of chemicals and substances are used to keep our grass green and allow for growth. People normally do not think of any harm done when they add these chemicals to their lawns, but it can be detrimental.

To try to preserve energy it is highly recommended to buy energy-efficient light bulbs, and it is essential to remember to turn off all electronic devices when they are not in use. By making some changes to our home appliances, we can reduce our ecological footprint quickly, such as by not setting the fridge and freezer too cold and making sure it is sealed properly. Dryers and washers of high efficiency are non-efficient and we can solve this problem by using a washing line. By doing all of these things, we are not only making our bills cheaper, but we are being more beneficial to the environment. This will be very beneficial to lowering our ecological footprint. To lower our ecological footprint through the size of our houses, we can think about buying or renting a house with a smaller lawn as well as a smaller homing space. Many people have big lawns that they don’t use. For example, I live on a property with approximately 10 000 m2, and more than half of the property is never used. And my house is approximately 700 m2, and we don’t use most areas of the house. I could lower my ecological footprint by staying in a smaller house with a smaller lawn space; this could be beneficial and the house will feel more homely and more welcoming.

Walk More, Drive Less

And finally, driving is also a factor in our environmental footprint. A car is a piece of machinery that every person desires and makes use of due to the machine’s ability to get us from one place to another faster than walking. Although a car is very beneficial to us, it comes with a lot of issues, such as the release of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emission which pollutes our air as well as our ocean waters. We see hundreds of cars on a day-to-day basis, and each car releases chemicals, which is harmful to our earth. A habit that could be very beneficial for the economy and one which would help impact our ecological footprint is driving less or not driving at all. If a person tends to be reliant on a car, then it would benefit their environmental footprint if they switched to an electric vehicle, as it is better for the environment.

When I was driving my car today I happened to notice that there is a lot of noise that is being released through the car’s engine throughout the course of driving. This can also be known as noise pollution. I like to think that noise does not affect us in any way, it is just noise, but it can. Having been exposed to excessive noise can often cause multiple health issues, such as an increase in our amount of stress, poor concentration, loss of productivity, and difficulties in communicating with others, as well as lack of sleep, which can cause fatigue. This can thus lead to an increase in one’s ecological footprint. Also, while driving my car, I understand that the car releases a gas known as CO2, which can be quite detrimental if released in large quantities. The vehicles which we drive on a day-to-day basis are one of the major causes of global warming. Air pollution kills more than 2 million people each year, according to a study published in the journal of Environmental Research Letters.

We can reduce our ecological footprint by catching a ride with a friend, walking, or using public transport instead of traveling all by ourselves. If our vehicle produces a lot of noise, we should try getting an exhaust silencer fitted for our vehicle. I find that this will lower the amount of sound produced by my vehicle and will be beneficial for myself as well as the people traveling around me. If this is not an option, individuals can wear earplugs to block out the sound; by wearing earphones, the sound of the vehicle, machinery, or object will be blocked out or silenced a little, so that it will not affect people as much as without the earplugs. Moreover, it would be extremely beneficial to use electric vehicles, where electricity is used instead of fuel, resulting in less emission. The more cars that are made and sold, the better it will be for the environment as well as the people. When the electricity that is being used comes from renewable sources, all-electric vehicles will be producing zero emissions whilst driving.

Moreover, tsunamis also contaminate the soil and water. This is where water bodies such as groundwater, lakes, river, and wells have been affected by these tsunamis What happens is that these wells, rivers, and lakes are filled with saltwater and contaminated with these waste and unknown chemicals such as oil, and what it causes is that this water could not be consumed by anyone. Based on the 2004 Tsunami in Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu, the groundwater salinity increases rapidly and it took more than a year for the salinity to return to normal. On the other hand, based on observation of these soil and waters, the electrical conductivity of the soil and water increases rapidly right after the tsunami, because salt water pollutes this soil as salt water containing sodium and chloride ions, which is an electric conductor. Moreover, these poisoned soils also affect the agricultural sites in which crops and vegetation were damaged.

Therefore, tsunamis also cause affect the human ecosystem. One of them is that they cause death to humans. This is because a tsunami comes without any notice and it comes in high-speed waves, and these water waves contain debris and wastes such as tree branches are enough to kill humans, and some humans are killed by getting smashed into buildings and walls. Moreover, tsunamis also cause disease and contamination. This is because contaminated water and food supplies act as a risk to people’s health. These flood waters contain many sources of debris, such as dirt or oil, therefore, infectious diseases such as malaria and cholera may become more common right after a tsunami. Besides that, these tsunamis also cause the loss of homes and shelters. Many individuals who live in an area hit by a tsunami would lose everything they own, which leaves them homeless and without resources. This causes them to be exposed to any climate changes such as cold weather and hot weather and have no cover for them.

Moreover, tsunamis also cause the destruction of forests. Due to the fast water waves of the tsunami, these trees were snapped, uprooted, and undermined. Based on the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, natural forests were reduced by 8 percent due to this tsunami. Moreover, trees play a vital role in trapping carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. With these trees being reduced, carbon dioxide would not be trapped and therefore increasing carbon dioxide content on the earth and causing global warming

Not only do tsunamis affect humans, but they also affect marine life. How this affects is, these water waves mix with dirt and debris and accumulate in the river or lake. What happens is that the sunlight could not penetrate the water, causing the turbidity of the water to increase. When the turbidity increases, the oxygen content in the water decreases because the aquatic plants are unable to perform photosynthesis and unable to release oxygen in the water, therefore, killing these fish and the marine ecosystem. Therefore, these toxins and chemicals from the land are pushed to the river or lake by the tsunami and it does disrupt the food chain of the marine ecosystem and end up killing them.
