Assignment Goal
This course has been designed to continue the development of your written communication skills by including the research process to create more robust academic essays. Throughout this course, you have completed written activities and participated in discussion forums that worked like stepping-stones toward this goal.
In this Research Analysis Essay, you will build on your assignments in weeks 2 and 4 to craft an academic research essay, which presents a topic or issue relevant to your academic or professional field. Your essay will include perspectives from at least three scholarly, peer-reviewed, or other credible sources, your own professional response to the issue, and your proposed solution to the issue.
Below I will attach the instructions for my Final Paper. 
Prior to beginning work on this assignment, reflect on your Outlining the Research Analysis Essay assignment in Week 4 as a roadmap for this final paper. You should also review all previous class materials, including all the chapters from your textbook, your discussion forum responses, and your work in the research notebooks, all of which have built toward this assignment. Consider how this assignment serves as a culmination of your earlier work.
The work you have already completed will support how you develop this assignment, and the work you do on this assignment may be useful when working on future assignments. Please note that you should always reflect on and revise previous work based on your instructor’s feedback before you consider incorporating it into future assignments. This will be presented in your introduction. Explain the overall background of the professional area and the background of the issue.
Tip: Use your discussion forum post from Week 2 as the starting point for introducing your topic and the issues you will consider.
Include your thesis statement:
Example: Although integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the medical field poses some ethical considerations, it has the potential to revolutionize healthcare practices, ushering in new diagnostic tools, treatment programs, and patient care paradigms.
In your final paper’s body paragraph 1,
State your topic sentence:
Example: Applications of AI in the healthcare field offer invaluable time saving tools that can streamline processes, but any discussion of implementation requires a deeper look into the potential for ethical concerns such as patient privacy and data collection.
Tip: Use your Week 2 Research Notebook as the starting point for introducing your topic and the issues you will consider.
Describe the field of study or professional area and how the issue you’ve identified affects it.
Tip: As stated, the issue suggests multiple possible solutions so that your research can comprise a diverse range of perspectives.
Identify the first scholarly, peer-reviewed, or other credible source you have chosen to explore on a topic problem in your current profession or programmatic field of study.
Example: In the article, “Ethical Principles of Using Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration,” Karpenko (2019) delves into the ethical considerations arising from the intersection of AI and medicine, offering insights crucial to steering the course of AI implementation in the healthcare sector.
Evaluate the credibility of your source (Is it scholarly? Is it biased? Is it current?).
Summarize its main points in relation to your topic.
Propose a creative solution to the issue that can be supported with research in subsequent paragraphs.
In your final paper’s body paragraph 2,
State your topic sentence:
Example: The predictive capabilities of AI pose opportunities that will foster more immediate access to necessary care and offers protections for patient data and privacy.
Identify the second scholarly, peer-reviewed, or other credible source you have chosen to explore on a topic problem in your current profession or programmatic field of study.
Describe the issue or topic that the second scholarly, peer-reviewed, or other credible source provides information on.
Summarize the article’s findings on the identified issue in relation to your topic.
Interpret the information in your chosen articles.
Comment on why the article is useful to the topic, including how it contributes to a deeper understanding of the problem discussed, and what approaches or solutions to the problem it suggests.
Consider how the article illuminates the effects on the profession or professionals within the discipline and potential short-term and/or long-term impacts the problem is having on the profession or field of study.
Accurately and ethically incorporate quotes from your sources with proper APA citation.
Example: In the article, “Managing the Medical Matrix” Maurer (2022) suggests, “AI is something more than a predictive model. AI uses models to perform frequent, high-volume, computerized tasks, and it comes in several forms” (p. 114).

Describe the issue and propose solutions for addressing it in the context of your chosen topic.
Explain how the solution could be implemented and analyze the practicality of the solution.
Identify the third scholarly, peer-reviewed, or other credible source you have chosen, and explain whether it supports this solution.
Provide a brief summary of the main points and the findings presented in the article as well as the author’s perspective on the problem.
Comment on why the article is useful to the topic, including how it contributes to a deeper understanding of the problem discussed, and what approaches or solutions to the problem it suggests.
Summarize the professional response to the ideas presented.
Analyze the practicality of a solution (Is it feasible? Is it logical? How can it be implemented?).
Accurately and ethically incorporate quotes from your sources with proper APA citation.
Example: Karpenko (2019) suggests, “AI can be implemented safely and effectively when we anticipate potential issues before they present themselves and create safeguards against them” (p. 119).
In your final paper’s conclusion paragraph,
Restate your thesis.
Connect the ideas presented to show why the topic is an important one, while highlighting the major takeaways from the articles and relating them to the thesis.
On a separate page, your references page should list any and all sources cited in your paper in alphabetical order using APA 7th Edition style. For example,

I’m doing a research paper on the poem Harlem by Langston Hughes. Now that you have selected your topic and started researching articles to be used in writing your
paper, it’s time to select and arrange those articles in your Works Cited/Bibliography page for
your essay. For each selected article you plan to use in your paper, create an annotation to accompany its entry.  1. Your bibliography must be completed in MLA format.
2. Place your articles in alphabetical order, and be sure to include the intended audience in
your annotation.
3. Articles must come from Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) or the other acceptable literary
options found in your Library Services cell in Canvas. Wikipedia, SparkNotes, Schmoop,
etc., are not scholarly research and cannot be used in this assignment. Using these will
result in an automatic zero on the assignment.
4. Submit this assignment through Turnitin.com.
Below are the grading criteria for this project.
1. Concise summary of the information (25 points): Briefly state the author’s purpose and
recap the important points of the article.
2. Evaluation of the information’s usefulness (25 points): does this article support/refute your
thesis? How will you use this information?
3. Identification of the intended audience (25 points): For whom was the article written? Is it
beneficial to laymen (those with limited knowledge or expertise in the subject), or is it
intended for those with more knowledge or interest in the topic?
4. Entries in MLA format (15 points): Use the link to Purdue OWL for formatting
information.
5. Mechanics (10 points): Spelling/punctuation/grammar, etc. are IMPORTANT!!! DO NOT
use I or you in this assignment. A couple of things are important to remember about the example above.
1. When you include an entry for the poem you are analyzing in your research paper, you don’t need to do an         involved analysis of it. You can say something similar to the following example for that particular               
bibliographical entry: This poem is the one that will be analyzed in the research paper.
2. You will have at least 5 entries in your Annotated Bibliography unlike the above example. Those entries
must be alphabetized according to the author’s last name or the article’s title if no author exists.
3.  Pay attention to spacing! It’s important. 
Find sources for your Research Paper. You are required to have 5 solid sources. You may include your textbook since you will probably be quoting some sections from it, but that is your primary source, the one from which your subject comes. It is not one of your critical/analytical sources, so it serves as a 6th source rather than one of the original five sources required.
Step 2 Get publication information for each of your sources based on the type of information MLA says you need for that specific type of source. For example, is it a journal published once a year, quarterly, weekly, monthly, etc.; a website; or a book? After you have collected the information for each source, arrange it according to MLA requirements. Once you have done that, alphabetize each entry. Check for correct spacing or indenting. If all that looks correct, you should be pretty much complete for format purposes. Now you need to write a paragraph under each entry that fulfills the requirements as stated in the Annotated Bibliography Assignment.  AI IS NOT ALLOWED.
