For Paper #4, you will need to incorporate at least 5–6 sources into your writing. You will also need to construct an annotated bibliography to document your research efforts. This assignment will be due by Friday, August 9, 11:59pm, two days before you will need to submit the rough draft of your paper.
Instructions
Complete an annotated bibliography containing at least 3 of the 5–6 sources you plan on including in Paper #4. To complete this assignment, you must have already chosen a paper prompt, started your research, and written an informal outline.
Your annotated bibliography needs to include the following:
A statement of scope. This is a brief introductory statement explaining the context for the bibliography and the reasons for compiling it. You will want to address the topic prompt you have chosen to write on and the direction of your paper’s argument. This statement should be 1–paragraph long.
Complete bibliographic information. In your annotated bibliography, you will need to provide complete information for each source you will be using in your paper. In doing so, you will need to use one documentation system, which in the case of an English class, will be MLA style.
Consistent presentation. Your annotated bibliography should be written in complete sentences and paragraphs.
Summary and evaluation. For each annotation, you will need to both summarize and evaluate your source.
Helpful SuggestionsBefore you begin working on your annotated bibliography, review “R3-d: Construct an annotated bibliography” in A Writer’s Reference.
As you work on your annotations, review key sections in “R: Researched Writing” and “MLA: MLA Style” in A Writer’s Reference.

Assignment Content
Having completed most of your research, distill your conclusions about your research into a one- or two-sentence thesis statement—this is a draft thesis statement that may undergo refinement when you write your paper. The thesis statement should be a conclusion based on your research. Your thesis statement should not be a question.
At the same time, begin looking at how you will organize the ideas and information you have to present. Prepare an outline that shows how your paper will present the information. The outline should present the major sections of your paper and also the details within each major section. Development of thesis and preparation of an outline are interrelated tasks: Thinking about your thesis statement forces you to consider the main idea you will develop in your paper, and organizing the information helps you to think specifically about how you will develop the main idea. If you develop a good, preliminary thesis statement and outline, your paper will almost write itself.
The assignment you submit should include:
1. Your draft thesis statement
2. Your detailed research paper outline with specific information (either directly quoted or paraphrased) from at least 8-10 sources from your annotated bibliography.

Please write an essay of 2-3 pages reflecting on your experience taking our ENGL101 fully online (asynchronous) course this past month.
Introduction: Discuss what your expectations of our fully online course were before taking the course and how taking an online course worked for you or not Intro the three main points of focus for the course: playing wordle, reading and writing about New York Times articles, researching and writing the graded papers.
Playing wordle–what did you learn from playing wordle every day? What was your approach? Did you get into a certain habit of playing wordle, like playing at the same time every day or playing against friends and family? Did you actually play wordle every day? If not, why not?
Reading, summarizing and discussing New York Times articles–what did you learn from reading, summarizing and discussing the various NYT articles I assigned? What did you learn about the issues driving the election in November, financial literacy, the genre of oral history, planning for and managing your future career? From reading the NYT articles on Crumbl cookies, Jolliebee chicken, nature hikes in NYC and exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which of those experiences would you like to have before the fall semester starts?
Researching and writing the graded papers: what did you learn from researching and writing the 4 graded papers: the Get Out the Gen Z Vote paper, The Hunt: Buying a Hypothetical Home paper, the oral history paper and the career paper? Which was the most interesting or useful to you and why? Which was the least interesting or useful to you and why?
Conclusion: Make an overall statement on your experience taking ENGL101 online this past month–would you take an online course again? How do you think the skills we worked on in ENGL101 will help you in your Fall courses and beyond?
