Class,
Chapter 16 brings to light several forms of therapy and treatment. The umbrella to these remain as Psychotherapy and Biomedical therapy. Within each, we learn about the various types of therapies and treatments.
I want you all to pay attention to the charts in both your textbook and notes. The different forms of Psychotherapy are: Psychodynamic psychotherapy, Play therapy, Behavior therapy, Cognitive therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral therapy and Humanistic therapy.
Biomedical therapies includes the use of prescribed medication to treat mental disorders.
Watch the Ted Talk below. I thought it would be fitting to hear all about the importance of therapy, and the potential it has to bring out in all of us.
In your last Reflection Paper (essay format, 1-2 pages in length): How does this video make you feel? Is it relevant? Talk to me about the form of therapy that stood out to you most (in the chapter) that you would like to practice if you were a therapist. Why?
Writer the you tube video is called WHY YOU SHOULD TRY THERAPY YESTERDAY DR. EMILY ANHALT
I have included the lecture notes as well. The form of therapy I would choose would be Psychotherapy because I grew up with depression and went through a traumatic experience that led me to shut down.

Read about several recent discoveries in astrobiology and discuss which one you think is the most interesting/exciting

Please read about several recent discoveries in astrobiology and discuss which one you think is the most interesting/exciting. Choose news articles from the following sources published after 2024 Feb 10th:
SpaceRef Astrobiology Web: https://astrobiology.com/
Phys.org Astrobiology News: https://phys.org/space-news/astrobiology/
Many Worlds: https://manyworlds.space/
NASA Exoplanet Exploration News & Features: https://exoplanets.nasa.gov/news/?page=0&per_page=40&order=publish_date+desc%2C+created_at+desc&search=
Astrobiology at NASA News & Discoveries: https://astrobiology.nasa.gov/news/
Astrobiology.com: https://astrobiology.com/
Choose your favorite article and then answer these THREE parts:
In one paragraph summarize the article and state the key results. Explain why the article is important – why is this newsworthy? Try to answer the usual “Who, What, When, Where, Why?” set of questions.
Then in a second paragraph, state what made the article interesting to you. This is where you can share your own thoughts/opinions. Four to six sentences is fine for this part.
Finally, copy a sentence or phrase verbatim (word-for-word) from the article and explain how this ties into what we are learning in this course. The more direct and specific the connection, the better the grade. In addition to the cut-and-paste sentence from the article, try to have about three-five sentences of your own, explaining the relationship this sentence has with the course material (lectures, notes, textbook, lecture preambles/introductions, announcements, etc.).
Be sure to give the title and date of the article at the start of your answer. As usual, proper college-level English is required. The assignment length should be one page. (I don’t care about font size, spacing, etc – you know what looks good and what does not. Please try to keep this to 1 side of a piece of paper.) Be sure to keep the summary of what the author wrote (first paragraph) separate from your opinions & thoughts (second paragraph). Since you are listing the title and date at the top of your homework, there is no need to have a separate reference or citations section. However, please also include the URL (web address), and the author of the article (if given) at the top of your homework.
please use the book

Discuss the impact of the war (between Iran and Iraq) in the second half of the book. How does Iraq figure into Marjane’s reality? You may also discuss how this relates to the current situation between the U.S. and Iran.
Respond to one scene or segment in the book. How does the author convey through words and pictures how the war is causing more separation, conflict and chaos for Iranian citizens?
Discuss the final chapter. Why is it vital to send Marjane away? Why don’t her parents leave as well?

With all three of these goals in mind, please list five possible search phrases you might use when you begin searching in the library.
• After reviewing the Module materials, what questions do you have?
• How are you feeling about writing a full 4–5-page Argument Research Essay at this point?

• What questions do you have? How will you begin?
*Part II: introduction paragraph, full body paragraph, conclusion paragraph
Selected topic: **Race and Ethnicity:**
– **Prompt:** Argue how acknowledging and embracing one’s racial and ethnic identity
contributes to personal growth and a more inclusive society
1. Begin by creating an APA formatted title page for this assignment, as seen in the Sample Argument Research Essay.
2. Using the sample, create an introduction paragraph, with an attention-grabber, background information, and thesis statement based on the stance written in the proposal. Please review the edapt concepts from and the introduction paragraph in the Sample Argument Research Essay to understand how to write a strong introduction paragraph.
3. Write one full body paragraph with at least one resource. Begin with a transition and topic sentence. Your paragraph content will vary based on where it will go in your essay. You might begin with additional background information if needed or develop one point to prove your thesis. You might write one of your opposition and rebuttal body paragraphs. Again, the structure of your essay and topic will guide your body paragraphs’ content. Review the edapt lesson on outlining an argument . Also, look at the first body paragraph in the Sample Argument Research Essay to help.
4. Compose your conclusion paragraph. It should offer an overview of the essay’s thesis without repeating it, followed by an impactful look at how the topic and argument fit into a bigger context..
5. Include a Reference Page and proper APA citations. Create a properly formatted APA reference page (outside source more than 5 years) including all scholarly resources used in the assignment. Provide in-text citations and parentheticals within the assignment to cite resource information. Again, use the Sample Argument Research Essay to understand the required formatting. Also, see the APA handbook for information on writing references and in-text citations properly.
*Part III: Argument Research Essay
• Effective structure, including your introduction paragraph, your body paragraphs, and your conclusion paragraph
• Use of third-person throughout. Focus on the topic, not on you nor on the essay. In other words: no first-person “I,” and no referring to the essay, such as “In this essay.”
• At least 4 scholarly sources visibly used, cited, and referenced
• Refer to the full Argument Research Essay Rubric

One way that individual racism persists, even in a society that decries racism, is through racial microaggressions– daily, commonplace insults

Introduction:
“One way that individual racism persists, even in a society that decries racism, is through racial microaggressions– daily, commonplace insults and racial slights that cumulatively affect the psychological well-being of people of color. The consequences if these microaggressions can be severe, and studies of African Americas, Latinx people, and Asians have uncovered the continued prevalence of microaggressions” (Golash-Boza, pg. 101).
“Your name is hard to pronounce.”
“You speak English surprisingly well.”
“You’ve done so well despite your background.”
If you’ve ever heard statements similar to these, in reference to a person of color, then you may have likely witnessed (or experienced) a microaggression. In fact, despite your own racial or ethnic it is highly UNlikely that you have not witnessed a microaggression.
Discuss the following questions 1-3, in rich detail
Describe a microaggression you witnessed or experienced. Some students have very little experience recognizing when this is happening so for this discussion board, I will allow you to describe microaggressions viewed in shows, movies or even song lyrics.
Who was the recipient of this microaggression and how did they handle it?
How did you handle witnessing this interaction? What feelings were stirred up. What did you say (if anything) or think?
