1- There are two submission links for each assignment, you may submit only 1 file, in which case you only use the first link; you may also submit 2 files, e.g. one for Word report; the other for Excel appendix on calculation, in which case you use the first link for Word file submission and the second link for Excel submission.
2- The submission must be written in the third person throughout (use of I, me, my, you, your, etc. are not to be used).
3- Students must proofread their work before submission for good grammar, use of English, choice of words and spelling.
4-  The assignment shall be submitted no later than 23:59 Sun 17 Dec 2023 UK time
BRIEF
In week 11 of the module – you have been asked to research and prepare a bid for the residential lands shown at Chapel Heath, Navenby, Lincolnshire. This is two plots of land with residential development and has received full planning permission. As a reaction to the recent announcement of an election and the need for a new approach to speed up housing construction that also reflects the climate change/sustainability agenda, the management Board has requested for this particular proposal recommending the maximum bid price with detailed financial breakdown. You should include in your report:
• An introduction of the land and proposed project. (10 marks)
• Without consideration on speeding up of construction or sustainable design, the recommended maximum bid for the two plots of land (Option A), showing detailed financial appraisal and assumptions (e.g. the development & sale program, interest rate, construction costs, sale prices, etc.); note that you are not submitting the bid, you are reporting to the management board recommending the maximum bid. (30 marks)
• A statement on modern methods of construction that might speed up the completion of the development and its effects on the development & sale program and the bid (10 marks);
• A statement on any sustainable construction design solutions you recommend and an indication of the additional costs on the bid (10 marks);
• With consideration on modern methods of construction and sustainable design, the alternative recommended maximum bid for the two plots of land (Option B), showing detailed financial appraisal and assumptions (e.g. alternative development & sale program, alternative construction costs & sale prices, etc.) (15 marks)
• The major risk factors with reasoning that relate to your recommended bid values for the site. (15 marks)
2
Please note:
• The submissions should be presented in the form of a report that would be presented as a Board level meeting briefing paper, which would enable the Board members to distil key information quickly and make a decision based on the facts and risks detailed in the report;
• There is no word count for this assignment as you may wish to submit this using a variety of formats including using procedures and systems within your workplace.
• 10 marks are allowed for English, format and presentation of the report;
• The level of detail in the financial appraisal shall be appropriate to the level of information contained within the documentation, e.g. since there are plans for all houses, there shall be an area & house mix summary, a different sale price for each type of house (detached or semi-detached 2/3/4+ bedrooms), etc.;
• Residual method shall be used for land price appraisal, with reasonable assumptions on development & sale program, interest rate, etc.
• The construction costs for buildings (within the houses) and the external works (outside the houses) should be costed separately; you can use either functional unit method (£/ house but a different rate for different house type) or floor area method (£/m2 GIFA) to estimate the construction costs of houses, but use elemental method to estimate the cost of external work, by using one element unit rate for external work without the need to break down items in detail (e.g. roads, pavings, soft landscaping
2 files must be submitted:
One is word file for the proposal
Second is Excel for the calculation

Please take on this order only if you are an expert thas has knowledgable in advanced Thermodynamics in order to conduct analysis of Exergy and Energy on a power plant that consist of components with all necessary information needed available such as Turbines and Compressors and Pumps, etc.
All data are in the excel file attached and the analysis will be conducted in Excel. All information needed about the plant, properties, equations, deliverables required from the expert, etc are in the pdf file attached. The figures show: 1- A sketch of a Combined Power Plant 2- Data for the Power Plant at 100% and 75% Loads with Natural Gas and Fuel Oil types of fuel. 3- Relations to help you analyzing the Plant. You need to: 1- Perform energy analysis of the plant for all conditions provided. (for each component, for the two parts of the plant, and for the whole plant) 2- Perform Exergy analysis for the plant for all conditions provided. (for each component, for the two parts of the plant, and for the whole plant) 3- Write a report and include your conclusions based on the performed analysis.
Please be competent in the analysis and make it easy and well structured to follow and clear enough to get high grade. We are using two books in the class by Moran and Cengel. If you need them, let me know.
Let me know if you have any questions.

This course is energy from the earth. The file of video presentation are too big, so I used powerpoint and word instead of videos.
