Why analyze your own diet? Past quotes from fellow students …….
“Having to analyze my own diet helped me change my own dieting behaviors.”
“The diet analysis assignment showed me things about my health and diet that I literally would have never noticed and need to fix.”
“Loved being able to track my nutrient intake”.
“The diet analysis assignment was really neat. I enjoyed completing it and learned a lot about myself and the subject of nutrition.”
For this assignment please do the following:
Record everything you eat and drink for 3 full days in a food diary. Carry a notebook and record before you eat, so you don’t forget. Estimate your portion sizes. Choose 3 days that are typical for you, it is best to choose 2 weekdays and 1 weekend day.
Include at least 8 different foods each day, not counting water and other beverages. You still need to include water and beverages (including alcoholic) in your record but they do NOT count as part of the 8 different foods.
If you do not regularly consume 8 different foods per day, you must include an explanation when you submit your report in Part 3, or you will lose points.
Do not include any vitamin or mineral supplements. The purpose of this assignment is to learn more about the nutrient content of food choices, and supplements do not replace food.
