Assignmnment details
As a childcare program administrator, you will have to hire staff and create and maintain a staff that meets your program’s economic and best practices goals as well as State regulations on the staff-to-child ratio. This assignment provides a learning opportunity on this administrative skill.
When you did the core values, vision, and mission assignment (in week 2), you thought about how your program would operate to carry out the values, vision, and mission. Refresh yourself on this. Now, you need to figure out how to staff the classrooms, so your facility will meet the licensing requirements and the quality that your center aims at. What age groups will you serve? How many children with what teacher-to-child ratio? (Refer to the state rules.)
Copy/paste these questions in the text submission box, then answer the questions.
List 10 things your staff needs to be trained on.
For each item list when they should be trained on this: before they are ever in a classroom with children, within their first 3 months, within their first 6 months.
Write out a plan for staff trainings by answering these questions:
How often will you train your staff? Monthly? Weekly?
What should be included in ongoing training?
When will you train them? After hours? In small groups during the day?
Will these trainings take place in person? Through Zoom? Prerecorded video?
How long should the trainings be? We don’t want for them to get bored, but we have a lot of information to pack in!
How will you assess if they completed the training and/or absorbed the material?
