Topic choice:  Technology or digital citizenship for k-8  School students.

Watch/read the following sources: Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave,” “Maslow

Topic:
Watch/read the following sources: Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave,” “Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs,” Into the Wild, “Sell Your Crap,” David Foster Wallace’s “This is Water,” and Donovan Livingston’s speech.  Make sure read/watch sources more than once and do lots of thinking about themes that are common to two of the works.
Assignment:
After thinking about these common themes/connections between the sources, write a 3 1/2-page comparison-contrast essay in which you focus on a claim that allows you to draw on those two sources for support.
Preparation:
In our discussion board posts, we will discuss possible themes/ideas that you can work with; the main theme that we will start with has to do with freedom. You should start thinking about the types of freedom that exist and what the works say about the role of freedom in people’s lives. Also consider what limits freedom or prevents us from achieving freedom even though we value it so much in this society. You could also think about other themes like self-actualization and happiness.
Format:
Intro
Point One: First similarity between two sources–dedicate half the paragraph to one source and half to the other
Point Two: Second similarity–dedicate half the paragraph to one source and half to the other
Point Three: Third Similarity–dedicate half the paragraph to one source and half to the other
Point Four: Bring your points together/Comment on overall significance of points
Point Five: Conclusion
Requirements:
This essay should be 3 1/2 pages long, a little bit longer if you are aiming for an A.
You must follow MLA guidelines, but you do not need a Works cited page.  Please do not work with outside sources for this.
Since this is a comparison-contrast essay, you will be working with two sources.  I still should see quotes in most if not all of the body paragraphs.
Use the point-by-point method which we will discuss.
Note: Please do not simply summarize one source per paragraph.

What might you do as a future special education administrator to partner with local colleges and universities to offer programs or collaborative professional development for teacher educator students as well as your own faculty that would promote professional development learning? Share 1–2 personal experiences or research supported examples of successful collaborative partnerships between the school district and college/university setting.
