Supply and Demand Discussion
88 unread replies.88 replies.
Please think of an example from everyday life of an event that caused either the supply or the demand for a product to increase or decrease(please only shift one curve). Please take the time to think of a straightforward (easy) example; it will work much better.
Once you have your example, please complete the following steps for your discussion post:
write a short description of the event explaining if it caused the supply curve OR the demand to shift and in which direction (increase or decrease)
explain how the shift affected the quantity and price in the market for the product.
draw a graph showing:
the original supply and demand curves
the original equilibrium point
the original quantity and price (q1 and p1 are fine – you don’t need to add real prices or quantities)
how the curve shifted (right or left)
the new equilibrium point
the new quantity and price (q2 and p2 are fine)
*don’t forget to label both axes
**Hand-drawn graphs are totally fine. Please just take a picture and upload it to the discussion board.
**Videos are also great if you want to upload one.
**Please don’t forget to post a thoughtful comment to at least one of your classmate’s posts.

You should examine and discuss your reactions and notions about how the material

You should examine and discuss your reactions and notions about how the material pertinent to a given week relates to your own past/future work/non-work situations.
Each blog entry must have 4 identifiable headings: Summary, Meaningful Ideas, Personal Connecting, Changes. The Summary section is where you highlight the themes found in the materials for the week (2 paragraphs). The Meaningful Ideas section is where you highlight two to three thought provoking ideas that emerged from the materials and why you think they are worthy of being highlighted (2 paragraphs). The Personal Connecting Section is where you discuss how the topics can be applied to your professional and/or personal situations (1 paragraph). Lastly, the Changes section is where you highlight at least two SMART (see: https://hr.wayne.edu/leads/phase1/smartobjworksheet.pdf) changes you will make.
The purpose of this assignment is to let you take a little time to reflect, so as to improve your understanding of yourself and understanding of the course materials. Each paragraph should be 100-200 words in length. The rubric for this assignment can be found here: Reflection Rubric

In this article, you will develop the skills you will use when writing the liter

In this article, you will develop the skills you will use when writing the literature review section of your paper. This article mainly consists of two main components. Firstly, you will select two articles from the options below. You can choose any two of the following five articles. Read these articles and then write an article to examine their relationship. Are these scholars arguing? An article presents a challenge based on the findings of another article (if so, how to challenge it)? What are the core academic questions that scholars are trying to answer? What sources and methods did the author use to answer their questions?
Second, on your own, you must find a third article that advances the scholarly conversation that you select from those listed below. As with the first two articles, you should examine and explain how the article you selected relates to the first two, the sources and methods its author(s) use to engage in the debate, and the ultimate resolution (if there is one).
The best essays will develop a clear argument about the substance of the scholarly debate, which considers how the conversation has evolved over time. Students may also indicate questions that the scholarship (represented by their articles) leaves unresolved in order to highlight areas where further research is needed.

I WILL GIVE YOU THE DRAFT I WROTE, MAKE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES INTO IT ACCORDING TO MY TEACHER:
Upon reviewing your essay, I recommend including the following elements in your revised submission:
Please delve deeper into the dual causes of the shift in the racial composition within the CPS.
You rightly identified the disproportionately high number of African Americans during the time of the survey but neglected to explain the underlying factors behind this trend. For your revision, consider Clemens’ dual observations in the 1980s concurrent with the ‘Mariel boatlift.’ These aspects require further exploration in your next submission.
Expand on the two driving forces behind the bias towards lower average wages in Borjas’ sample.
You may also recognize the deficiencies in the data Borjas utilized. Building on this, could you elaborate on Clemens’ viewpoint regarding the particular demographic group genuinely impacted by immigration? Furthermore, are there any other consequences stemming from Borjas’ usage of ‘cherry-picked’ data? Your discussion on these points will enrich your revised submission.
You definitely need to add more details on your essay to show that you are able to correctly answer the questions.
PLEASE KEEP IT UNDER 2 PAGES, YOU CAN CHANGE STUFF BUT MAKE SURE YOU ARE FOLLOWING AND AGREEING WITH THE RUBRIC AND FOLLOWING WHAT MY TEACHER IS SAYING, ALL OF IT IS ATTACHED.

2. Suppose that a firm sells in a highly competitive market, in which the going price is $15 per unit. The firm’s cost equation is C = $25 + .25Q2. (8) Find the profit-maximizing level of output for the firm. Determine its level of profit.
b)Suppose that fixed costs increase to $75.Verify that this change in fixed costs does not affect the firm’s optimal output.
3.Suppose a firm’s price function is P = 120 – .5Q and its cost equation is C = 420 + 60Q + Q2. (7)
a.Find the firm’s optimal quantity, price and profit (1) by using the profit and marginal profit equations and (2) by setting MR = MC.
b.Suppose instead that the firm can sell any and all its output at the fixed market price P = 120. Find the firm’s optimal output.
