IMPORTANT: In this lab, the investigation has just begun. You cannot access a medical examiner to determine the cause of death. During evidence collection in a real investigation, you will not have any DNA results. Rather you must focus on the evidence at hand and the logic of the investigation. What would the result mean? What if we discover no DNA match? What would that mean? What if we find no DNA?

There is a bank robbery where the suspect displayed a handgun, and was described to police dispatch as wearing a hat and a mask. He gave the bank teller a handwritten note demanding her to put all the money that was in her drawer into a bag. He left the note behind and was not wearing any gloves at the time of the robbery. The suspect was in such a hurry running towards the door of the bank that he tripped and his hat fell off. Then, right after the suspect exited the bank, he stepped in a patch of mud as he was running across the lawn and dropped a cell phone on the as he was fleeing from the scene.
