Is the World Changing for Better: Essay

God has given humans many blessings in health, body, and mind and has given these blessings for humans to take advantage of in order to make the world a better place. The phenomena surrounding us enriches our mind with information and influence our thinking about what is going on around us. The world is considered to be a beautiful place put together by humans its population is about 7.7 billion as of November 2019. Unfortunately, the world is not considered as a safe place anymore due to humans’ choices which have caused the world to suffer. As said by the prophet Mohammed peace be upon him “people are equal as the toothcomb”. The major problems that are facing our world today are racial discrimination, human trafficking, and global warming.

Racial discrimination is the unfairness in treatment based on the group, class, or category to which the person is perceived to belong. Discrimination based on skin color is most likely to be dark-skinned people while privileging those with lighter skin. Those darker-skinned people tend to receive smaller incomes, lower marriage rates, longer prison terms, and fewer jobs. Discrimination based on skin color has existed for centuries, and analysis has shown that it is particularly in and out of black America. As well as discrimination based on religion, it is a person’s right to believe in whatever religion or belief they follow. Religious discrimination can occur in many places like workplaces when providing goods, facilities, or services and in schools or colleges. It is against the law for a restaurant to refuse to serve someone, or for a hotel to refuse to give a room because of their religion or belief. As well as being treated unfairly in the workplace because of religious issues this is known as harassment, in schools or college it would be considered as bullying. The origin of human life is the communication and coexistence between communities, through several common denominators, which work in activating positive coexistence, which is not limited to a specific area, but in many areas of cooperation between people and communities, whether religious, social, or economic.

Another major drawback that our world is facing these days is labor trafficking. Labor trafficking is a form of human trafficking in which individuals perform labor or services through force, fraud, or coercion. Traffickers often use set-up their victims by using high-paid fraudulent job offers, this can happen through staffing agencies, word of mouth, advertisements, and online. It is outlined by the human trafficking hotline as the use of “violence, threats, lies, and other forms of coercion to force people to work against their will in many industries.”. Common kinds of labor trafficking include people forced to work in homes as servants, as well as farmworkers forced to harvest crops through violence, or manufactory employees working in brutal conditions with very little quantity of cash.

Another crucial factor is the environmental issues that are caused by humans. One of the major issues is global warming, it happens once carbon dioxide, air pollutants, and greenhouse gases collect within the atmosphere and absorb daylight and radiation that have bounced off the earth’s surface, this is called the greenhouse effect. Common issues are the burning of fossil fuels to make electricity and it is the largest source of heat-trapping pollution. Coal-burning power plants are one of the biggest polluters as well. On the other hand, Climate change can cut back on food availability and affect it. The increase in temperatures, changes in precipitation patterns, changes in extreme weather, and reductions in water convenience could all lead to reduced agricultural productivity. Education, through the addition of materials to the educational system of children from a young age, to deal with how to preserve the environment and build friendships with the surrounding environment. Develop legislation and incentives to preserve the environment. Participation of civil society organizations in the preservation of the environment through the dissemination of publications and awareness sessions, in addition to the work of environmental workshops.

In conclusion, even if the world looks beautiful there are many aspects that need to be changed in order to make the world a better and safer place. Inequality continues tearing the world apart, causing high death rates and unfairness. Making people work against their will with the use of violence and threats. And lastly, humans rapidly cause the world to fall apart with the choices they make to live a better life. The world came along decades ago and humans achieved what is unachievable, there are many positive aspects humans are trying to do to make this world a better place but need to try harder. Those good aspects might affect the world in a bad way.

Essay about the Changes That Are Needed in Your Country

According to me, the issue in my country that really needs to change is health. Health is one of the main constituents of the progress of developing countries. Every community requires its citizens to be healthy, physically and mentally, this is the only way the people will be able to conquer and develop. Good health is crucial for human beings to function normally, but the only way to acquire good health is the right amount of medical facilities.

In our country, almost every day we hear a headline on the TV news channel saying that the doctor was supposed to operate on a patient, e.g. for appendicitis, but instead, he removed the patient’s kidney and sold it off. It’s not new to hear that a doctor illegally transplanted an organ in Pakistan, neither is it new to hear that a doctor accidentally left retained surgical items in a patient’s body after surgery, or a doctor overdosed a patient with a drug that wasn’t even required by the patient only so the doctor could make more money. All of this is because the doctors here are taught everything in their books except for being consistent and honest in their jobs. Moral values are not taught in medical colleges, all students learn there how to compete in this developing world and how to make money and profit from the hospital. They forget that they are an important part of society, they forget their responsibilities. But all of this is not their fault, we do hear about the patients that are suffering because the doctors are on strike, but nobody completely acknowledges the reason behind their strike. In 2019, doctors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were not provided with their salaries for nearly 5 months despite the fact that they acknowledged the government several times, this was not the first time that doctors weren’t paid in government hospitals for months, it has happened several times before. Moreover, every year 14,000 doctors are produced, and according to the PMDC (Pakistan Medical and Dental Council), the number of doctors registered in Pakistan at present is 110,000, and it is estimated that about 25000 Pakistani doctors are working abroad, leaving 85000 doctors for a population of 197 million, making a difficult, rather impossible ratio behind. Brain drain is a serious issue in Pakistan regarding doctors right now. Another issue is that most of the doctors are in urban areas because rural areas do not have a lot of hospitals or qualified doctors. Punjab and Sindh have 7 and 6 government medical colleges respectively, whereas NWFP and Baluchistan have only 2 and 1. In this way, female doctors in most of the rural areas are not allowed to practice, which is a huge number of doctors because 70 percent of the doctors in Pakistan are females.

The number of doctors is not the only issue regarding health, medical facilities also lack the required attention, including the number of hospitals and medical equipment. According to me, the province which requires severe medical attention right now is Baluchistan, where only 32% of the people have access to hospitals and only 1 medical college. The only solution is to ensure the equal distribution of health resources according to requirements in different provinces. Providing health resources is not merely constructing hospitals and dispensaries but it is facilitating quality medication to patients through the latest technologies and efficient doctors. According to a report, almost 68% of the patients in Punjab are not satisfied with the medical attention they received from the hospital staff, including nurses and qualified doctors. Most of the hospitals all over Pakistan do not have the required medicines and supplies that are required by the patients. Patients in some cases also have to travel abroad for treatment. In the case of Baluchistan, most of the people have to travel to other cities. It is very inconvenient for them because most of people can not afford to travel, and it also requires a lot of time. In addition to constructing hospitals, they should also be well-equipped and provided with qualified doctors.

Another issue regarding the health sector is ‘poverty’. Kofi Annan said that the biggest enemy of health in the developing world is poverty. Even if the country has the biggest hospitals with the best doctors, they will be of no use if the people of the state won’t be able to afford them. Though poverty has fallen dramatically over the past years, most people are not able to afford treatments for diseases such as cancer or even road accidents. Almost 56% of the people below the national poverty line live in rural areas, so in addition to not being able to afford treatments, they are also not aware of the importance of health too. In the urban areas, schools and media play a big role in awarding society with social issues, but in the rural areas, due to illiteracy, people do not pay great attention to their health and hygiene. This issue can be curbed by creating social awareness in rural areas regarding health, hygiene, and mental health. In some rural areas, women are not allowed to leave their homes, which is why they cannot receive the right amount of health and care, this causes maternal mortality, infant mortality, and malnutrition, all of this is just because of the lack of awareness and illiteracy.

To address this issue, I created an organization known as Team Vision with my friend. We’ve collected donations of more than 1 lakh for a patient with blood cancer who is currently under chemotherapy. We also address health issues such as smoking, etc. I have been a volunteer at the Red Crescent Society (a society that provides emergency medical and relief services). I have also been an intern at the WWF-P where I learned a lot regarding the importance of human health.

If I get a chance to serve my country as a leader, I would encourage the youth from the urban areas to travel towards the rural areas, so the population could be equally distributed and in this way, the resources will also be equally distributed. When educated youngsters with fresh minds will live among illiterate and backward people, they will bring a change in their school of thought. I would try my best to eradicate diseases such as polio and HIV aids through awareness. Just the way Imran Khan found Shaukat Khanum Hospital, a hospital that provides free treatment to cancer patients, I would raise funds to establish more hospitals like them. I will educate the youth to donate, this will help in eradicating poverty. I will encourage the government to spend a huge amount from the country’s budget on health, i.e. medicines, the latest technological equipment, and educational facilities. Our country needs changes and these changes start with us.

Personal Identity: Definition And Formation Factors

People usually look at a person, acknowledges that they are there, judges them on something, and then walks away. Many things make up a human being. We are all individuals, and I believe no one is the same. If you are Hinduism then your essential self is transpersonal, it is the same within all individuals. But I never see two people who are exactly the same. I also believe that our personal identity is constructed over our lifetime. The definition of personal identity is the unique identity of a person through time. It questions if the individual is at one time the same individual at another time.

Some people believe we are born with personality, and god makes us how he wants us to be before we are born. However, I don’t think so. It takes certain things in our life to make us the way we are. For example we grow stronger, when bad things happen to us; like when we go to a funeral, or have a long lasting relationship break up. A funeral changes us by when we look at our loved ones now we appreciate them more. Personally I have lost a lot of friends this year, seven to be exact, and they are all my age or a year older. One died in April, and all the others were August and back, all of different causes. I know I am not the same person that I use to be. I wake up every morning thankful that I am alive. I honestly now think everyday that this could be my last, and I treat everyone the best I could, tell my parents I love them as much as I can, and live my life to the fullest. The littlest things now have the biggest impact on me. Not only me but my parents also, they have become more protective. They make me text them every time I arrive somewhere, and I cannot drive or get in my car alone past eleven. Your personal identity will change; it is not going to be the same as it was before something tragic happened to you.

Or say you just got a promotion and a raise at your job. You then change as a person too. You are now proud of your position in work. It makes you tell people more what you do for a living. You have the feeling that people are proud of you as well. It makes you more confident in what you do. It also makes you a happy person, and you have more initiative in your job. You will walk and talk like a different person, because you now feel as they say “bigger and badder.” It changes you to be a hard worker. You now like the position you are in, and you want to be the best at it. Or since you realize you got this promotion you work hard to get the next one, and you could get a raise in the position you are in depending on your work ethic. That changes you as a person and how people look at you.

A final big change why I believe personal identity is discovered over time is becoming a mother or father. When you become a mother or father, it changes your personal identity completely. You can no longer be wild and crazy No longer can you be the partying type, and be know for going out every night. You have to mature, and put your child first; change your whole lifestyle for the one life you are bringing into this world. It could bring out a lot of stress in one person, or a lot of happiness. It brings out the reasonability in a person, and a whole lot of feelings. People always say you can never love someone as much as you love your child, and after you have a child you will know if this is true or not.

People change every year. They change by the month, day, hour, even minute. I know personally I change daily. I’m growing and trying to change into the person I am maturing to be. Although certain things I have gone through in my life have changed me, they make me who I am today. I try to be the best person I can be, and I don’t blame anything or anyone but myself for what I become. Personal identity is something that is discovered, and I hope every person is happy with that person that they are.

Pride and Prejudice’ Literary Essay on Change

Pride and Prejudice is written in the form of a generic Shakespearean comedy as with a fair few of Austin’s novels. Most of these archaic comedies begin with mistaken identity, followed by a sudden revelation, and then, most commonly conclude with marriage or multiple marriages. Pride and Prejudice is a novel that fulfills all of these criteria. The contemporary idea of marriage also has a large presence in the novel and reflects strongly the ideas of Austin on the theme of marriage, a concept that Austin seems to reject, a possible reason for publishing the novel. From the first line of Pride and Prejudice, the narrator reveals her satirical approach to matrimony then saying, “a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife”. This is then followed by Mr. Mrs. Bennet’s further discussion of marrying off their 5 daughters, this is used by Austin to draw the attention of the readers towards marriage and establish it as the main theme of the novel. This is foreshadowing the ultimate ending of the novel including multiple marriages. The main reason that multiple daughters need to be married off is due to the Bennet family’s financial situation, a complicated situation as it revolves not only around money, but rather more social status in a class-based social structure. If the Bennet daughters do not marry before Mr Bennet dies they will not only lose their house but more importantly their social standing which would leave them with nothing. Marrying well would ensure that all five Bennet daughters would remain housed and happy.

Mr Collins’ proposal is widely regarded as one of the most entertaining scenes in the whole novel. Mr. Collins proposes to Lizzy in a rather unromantic way, specifying his pragmatic and often self-centered reasons for wanting to marry Lizzy instead of genuinely emotional ones. Mr. Collins’s proposal is business-like, and he goes as far as to discuss the benefits to him as a clergyman if he were to wed a woman like Lizzy. Mr. Collins describes his affection for Lizzy as ‘violent,’ which is a rather odd choice of words, and though he attempts to reassure Lizzy that he does care for her in some authentic way, he also comments on her lack of wealth. Mr. Collins is a practical man, and his proposal is also practical, but his lack of self-awareness, among other characteristics, makes such a match unimaginable. Elizabeth wants to marry for love and not convenience. She does not like Mr. Collins and is repulsed even further by the desperation in which his address is made. Elizabeth Bennett then goes on to give a reason for such a rejection and why she did not agree with the proposal despite risking her future social security and standing, this was a major factor as Mr. Collins had an incredibly affluent patroness, meaning that he would be able to provide for her despite his monetary situation. Lizzie at first denies the proposal politely, but then proceeds to fully if not harshly explain how she feels about the situation when Mr. Collins reinstates his proposal, she says `your hope is rather an extraordinary one after my declaration. I do assure you that I am not one of those young ladies (if such young ladies there are) who are so daring as to risk their happiness on the chance of being asked a second time. I am perfectly serious in my refusal.’ This seems to work as Mr Collins Quickly accepts and moves on to Charlotte Lucas, who willingly accepts. Mrs. Bennet, who is anxious for Elizabeth to accept Mr. Collins, reacts badly to the news of her daughter’s resistance and threatens never to see Elizabeth again if she doesn’t marry him. When Mrs. Bennet appeals to Mr. Bennet for support, though, he states that he would never want to see Elizabeth again if she did marry Mr. Collins. Mr. Collins finally realizes that his suit is hopeless and he withdraws his offer. This further evidences the differences between the two parents and reinforces the fact that Mr. and Mrs. Bennet married out of youthful imprudence and passion, not love or the ability to agree with each other in unison.

Mr. Darcy’s introduction before his fateful first proposal involves him inquiring about Elizabeth’s health, Mr. Darcy then nervously paces around the room for a few minutes, this may serve as evidence of an internal battle between his love and admiration for Elizabeth and contemporary societal beliefs that would prevent him from confessing such feelings. This is evidenced later in the chapter during Darcey’s speech when he references her connections. Mr. Darcy says that ‘perhaps these offenses could have been overlooked if your pride had not been hurt by my honest confession of scruples which had prevented me from forming a serious conception for a long time’. This explains why he believes his honesty made her reject him and asks her: ‘Can you expect me to rejoice in the inferiority of your connections?’. This statement further emphasizes how much Darcey has changed at the end of the novel in his pride and demeanor. After what seems like much internal debate suddenly, he declares his love for her. He starts by eloquently expressing his admiration. He then refers to the inferiority of Elizabeth’s social connections and explains that her family’s rather unattractive behavior dissuaded him from proposing sooner. Elizabeth is offended and harshly declines his proposal, much to Darcy’s surprise. Elizabeth explains her reasons for turning him down. First, she cites the arrogant manner of his proposal. Second, she explains her distaste for the way he worked to separate Bingley from Jane. Finally, she claims that she could never marry a man who could treat Wickham so badly. Darcy sends Elizabeth a letter to clarify all the reasons for his previous actions. It turns the events to the end of the story. He explains important things that she doesn’t understand before. Things that are said wrongly about him and things he prefers to keep a secret. Moreover, the important information that is included leads to a change in their opinions, feelings, and even their actions. It plays a very crucial role in the rest of the novel. Furthermore, this letter gives us a very clear picture of Mr. Darcy himself. It reveals that he is a kind and wise man. Therefore, he doesn’t react crudely when she refuses his proposal impolitely. But he still forgives her ill-treatment and treats her gently although she hurts his pride. After reading the letter, Elizabeth experiences many conflicted feelings. Beginning with regret because of the prejudice that prevents her from living a wonderful life with the man she loves and her misunderstanding all the time of Darcy’s real character. Moreover, she feels ashamed of her rude and unfair treatment towards a good and gentle person. Reflecting upon her former behavior and views, she is horrified and ashamed and exclaims, ‘I have courted prepossession and ignorance, and driven reason away, where either was concerned. Till this moment, I never knew myself.’ This acts as a huge turning point from which both characters no longer assume the other’s feelings and opinions based on a first impression. This was Elizabeth was emotional response to the letter, though her physical response was similar in the fact she cried with happiness and despair at the proposal, giving off a very mixed response.

The major difference between Mr. Darcy’s proposal compared to Mr. Collins’ proposal is the passion that is portrayed by Mr. Darcy Lizzy. If Mr Darcy felt no passion towards her, he wouldn’t have been nervous before he proposed to her. Also when he was rejected he wouldn’t have felt such anger and hostility towards her, as he wouldn’t care about her. This was true in Mr Collins’ case. Mr. Darcey was driven by passion and as such was heartbroken when he was turned down, this shows the reader the difference between love in a proposal and a proposal for mutual benefit. Mr. Collin’s proposal was more about trying to persuade Lizzy to marry him rather than showing his love for her. His lack of sincerity and love is then quickly shown by his quick recovery and proposal to Charlotte Lucas. Another difference is Lizzy’s reaction after the proposals have all been said. Lizzy cries for half an hour after Mr Darcy has proposed to her, whereas she shows no emotion for Mr Collins, with Jane Austin even going as far as allowing Mr. Bennet to make a joke out of the whole situation. Another difference in these proposals is the words in them. Mr Darcy is brutally honest with Lizzy, even though it hurts her greatly. However, Mr Collins only has words of false praise for Lizzy, which makes her feel that Mr Collins is proposing for the wrong reasons. From Mr. Collins’ introduction to the proposal, we as the readers can tell that it is not a serious prospect and are even encouraged to laugh at the character as the five sisters torment him in various ways due to the way he is presented. Mr. Collins gives off a false impression of Love to Lizzie with empty compliments and false decelerations, whereas Darcey’s proposal is presented as sincere right from the beginning and this is made blatantly clear By Austin via the change of tone and lack of witnesses for the proposal, indicating not only that Darcy is shy about his feelings, but that he wants to express them to her only despite the fact she doesn’t feel the same way about him. Lizzie’s reaction is a classic case of comic reversal in a Shakespearean comedy as the main protagonist realizes that they had been wrong throughout the entirety of the novel up to this point and have now come to a sudden realization, and will subsequently change their ways. This format is shown almost exactly throughout the proposal and its subsequent chapters as Lizzie slowly comes to realize the way she has acted, this is demonstrated by her saying shortly after the proposal ‘I have courted prepossession and ignorance, and driven reason away, where either was concerned. Till this moment, I never knew myself.’ This shows her reversal and realization which we realize is an essential turning point in the novel immediately afterward due to her complete change in opinion of Mr. Darcey, Until he asks her to marry him, Elizabeth’s main preoccupation with Darcy centers around dislike; after the proposal, the novel chronicles the slow, steady growth of her love, further adding to the overall themes of love and marriage as a whole throughout the remaining segment of the novel.

As a reader we learn Lizzie’s true opinions about love and marriage throughout these two proposal scenes, this is voiced by her audible disgust with Mr. Collins’ proposal as it demonstrates marriage for mutual benefit, not love, a theory which she detests and makes opinions clear on. This shows the true importance of love and marriage as the main protagonist is stuck between love and better judgment. Multiple scenes throughout this novel demonstrate various degrees of love in marriage and act to serve as a societal comparison between love, and mutual benefit marriage demonstrated by Charlotte Lucas and Mr. Collins. The complex part of Darcey’s proposal is that Elizabeth does not at the time feel the same way about Darcey as he does about her which further complicates their relationship because Lizzie was expected to accept the proposal and all contemporary beliefs predict that she undoubtedly should have done, but this is the whole point of Austin’s writing, she breaks societal boundaries at a time when status and social standing meant everything. Both episodes give clues toward the comic denouement of the novel and lead the reader to expect multiple marriages as Lizzie gets offered two polar opposite proposals, attempting to give a clue as to which one she will take. The themes of love and marriage were very prominent yet unspoken of parts of Austin-era society as marriage was a usually mutually beneficial contract, a proposal of marriage not being something that would ever be denied by a woman if it was by an important man. The writings of Austin were revolutionary as they addressed the themes of love and marriage from a modern viewpoint at a time when talking about such matters was taboo, with every part of the novel contributing to the themes of love and marriage as if to make a point about the lack of discussion of such topics.

Narrative Essay about Change

The world has experienced drastic changes since the beginning of time. The Greek philosopher, Heraclitus believed that “There is nothing permanent in this world except change.” He believed that the only constant in this world is change. Change is not new in our lives. It can take place in many different ways, and this can be dealt with in many various ways. We experience changes in our daily lives whether there’s a simple change in the weather, a change in our lifestyle, or what we’d like to eat that day. Change seems to be the only thing we can be sure that’s going to happen.

Throughout our lives, we experienced many changes. We are exposed to change as one could say. In the years that I have existed in this world, I learned a lot of things, and one of these things is that everything will always change. No matter what you do change is certain in our lives. I experience change as young as I could remember. I saw how the things around me and the people around me changed. I saw myself change, physically and mentally, and became the person I ‘am today. I remember being someone who is childish and easily getting angry but now, I became a little bit more mature and more patient than before. I also observed how my beliefs and behaviors changed over time. How the amount of knowledge and things that I now know about life, in general, has changed on a daily basis. Change can be scary. The uncertainties and fear of not being able to adapt to the changes that come in our lives, make people avoid change. Others might have a hard time adapting to it, but change does not need to be hard and frightening. We can just accept it and adapt to change. I could recall how the first time I experienced changes in my physical appearance, it was quite alarming and scary but I learned that it was only natural to happen to us. Just like change, it is a natural phenomenon that happens to each of us. With change comes many great things such as endless possibilities and opportunities. Possibilities and opportunities do not come without change. I witnessed and even experienced how change can bring so many good things into our lives. Before I was quite lazy and unmotivated to learn in school, but then I realized the importance of learning at school to our lives. I changed my ways and found a way to help me motivate myself to learn. With the changes that I introduced to myself, I developed study habits and became motivated to learn. All of the changes I did resulted in positive outcomes and opened new doors of possibilities and opportunities in my life.

Change is a part of life. To quote Arthur Schopenhauer, “Change alone is eternal, perpetual, and immortal.” We walk in this world that is changing and evolving. Every day we face different changes in our lives. The only thing we could do is adapt and embrace change.

Informative Essay on the Pledge of Allegiance

This simple life-changing truth changes a few lives due to people’s narcissism. We are divided because we perceive ourselves to be different and our perception becomes reality, we are divided because the complexities of one’s stories are turned into sound bites; instead of being exemplified by their stories, they became characterized into a single word. Where a black child becomes a thug, Asians become terrible drivers, blondes are just dumb, and Hispanics are aliens who don’t belong. It comes to the point where we don’t feel the need to ask for people’s names because we already gave one to them.

Everyone is guilty of assigning names to one another; because it starts young. When I was born, even before my name was decided, my occupation was chosen: Engineer, Doctor, Lawyer. Uzair was an afterthought. My entire future was simplified into one word moments after I had taken my first breath. We don’t intend to negatively simplify, but it is human nature to do so. We strive for brevity and simplicity so that things make sense. Unfortunately, the harm in doing this is we often attempt to simply those who are different from us; removing the chance for any explanation. We fail to recognize that it’s inside complexity that we discover parts of our existence that we never knew possible. Simplifying all things, all the time only leads to sterilization; soon everything becomes black or white, left or right. This divisiveness has seeped into our politics, where believing in universal healthcare for all makes you a liberal, or believing in the second amendment makes you conservative. Where cold weather debunks global warming. It is always us versus them; there is always an enemy. When the true enemy is the simplistic false narratives that we have given to everyone. Labels are masks that don’t allow us to see who others really are. But instead, we see them through the judgmental, prejudicial, artificial filters of who we THINK they are. Assigning names, placing labels, and marginalizing people do nothing but hurt us. We need to identify these false choices that are made to divide us.

We share the same DNA, we share the same emotions, and every human feels pain, joy, and love. We share a common goal; happiness. But that goal can only be reached together. The human race survived not because we are the fastest or strongest, but because we worked together. Isn’t it funny how babies cry when they hear the cries of another? No matter the gender, culture, or color. Did you know the most translated phrase in any language is I love you, proving that we were meant to connect and care for each other? If we can build a better world together based not on our differences, but on the things that connect us, then we can create a future that is much greater than any vision we can have alone.

If we work together can we make this world a better place? This world will only be created when we have the courage to have a meaningful conversation. Allowing people to tell their names gives them the chance to tell their stories. With their stories, we can find the complexities and the hard truths and learn to live with them. We find common ground which sprouts understanding and with this, we can humanize the people we never had the chance of knowing. We need to learn to listen to our conversations; we need to listen not to respond or persuade but to learn; and that is when we can truly connect. So go and find someone you don’t usually talk to and converse with them; let them share their name and when asked, share yours. This is the way we take a leap for mankind.

Then we can recite together: I pledge allegiance to the fact that we are all human. And to the earth on which we stand. One person under god, is indestructible. With liberty, love, and equality for all.

I was one of four champions. I received various recognitions, including a live radio session at the University of Lagos, a certificate of achievement, and an online publication by The Nations (https:thenationonlineng. netyoungcerebralamiddespairamp). From January 2020, I served as a National Youth Corps Member at Government Secondary School Fadia Tudun Wada, Zangon Kataf, Kaduna State. I filled the vacant position of a chemistry teacher and assisted in teaching physics and basic science. I received approval from authorities to execute nearly eight months of free science and reading lessons after school. I spoke to over 100 students about the effect of drug abuse on the brain during the school’s science week in March. The pandemic stirred school closure in April, but I managed to continue the classes in a safe space for an average of 10 students and 15 children. By November 2020, I had greatly improved my education in the community. Over 70% of science students in the school passed the 2020 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.

They eventually went on to acquire skills and pursue tertiary schooling. I furthermore received reports that children who participated in my reading classes are doing well in the community primary school. As a Corps Member in Kaduna State, I was also the Assistant General Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Corps Fellowship (NCCF). In August, I contributed ideas and finance to the NCCF Care Project, and I volunteered for the Nigerian Air Force Medical Outreach. Both projects provided medical succor and food items to 500 victims of the Southern Kaduna Crisis in the Internally Displaced Person Camp in Zonkwa. In March 2021, I created a WhatsApp Group called United Africa Network (UAN). It became a nonprofit organization that unites African youths to inspire positive change in Africa. I am currently the Executive Director of 64 members. In July, I spearheaded the planning and hosting of UAN’s first webinar and online campaign, #mentalhealthmatters. The campaign spanning between July 12th17th reached over 15k people on Facebook and Instagram. The Zoom webinar on Mandela Day on 18th July recorded 38 participants from various African countries and was rated 4.5 out of 5 stars. Although I enjoy creative writing, I am passionate about improving learning and mental wellness hence I yearn for a higher degree in Neuroscience and Mental Health.

My experiences reaffirm my belief in inspiring positive change. I hope to leverage the Chevening scholarship to address issues bordering on learning disabilities and mental illnesses. Cause and Effect Essay about Someone Change in Your Life

My Sister

September 9th was the day that changed my life, It was around four or five that my mom, sister, and I decided to go to Target so we could get a present for my cousin’s birthday party. My Mom told my sister and me to look for a gift for my cousin. We successfully found one, we head back to look for my Mom and we found her in the frozen food section getting the peas and carrots and ice cream. We continued shopping for things that we needed, then we headed to the gift bag section so we could get one to put in the gift. My Mom saw a vacuum that was on sale then she saw more things that were on sale and went to look at them. At one point we decide to leave but when suddenly the lights randomly shut off and the only thing we see is dark and hear people screaming because they are in shock. We were going to go since it was scary, so we headed on and made sure that everyone was there with us we swear we heard my sister so we thought she was with us. We made it to the front where all the cash registers were, and the only thing we heard was people talking, complaining, and people asking what was happening. The lights turned on and the workers explained that an employer accidentally turned it off. After that, all of us were relieved that everything was OK, so we thought when suddenly we noticed my sister wasn’t with us and we looked around and she was nowhere to be found. So we asked security and employees to help us find her but they couldn’t really help us so they called over the intercom saying my sister’s name.

“Katie Salvador reports to the front of the store your mom is looking for you,” said the employee.

My Mom started freaking out! and started to say.

“Where is she please don’t let this happen to me where is she.” said my mom.

“I hope we find her because this could not be happening to us please god don’t let this happen to us,” I said.

“Please be in the store please don’t let anything happen to her protect her god protect her .” said my mom worried.

We went looking for her everywhere and we finally found her in the Barbie section, she was looking for my cousin’s present because she didn’t like the first present

“Thank god you sit here and nothing happened to you thank you God for protecting my daughter.” said my mom.

We got her and decided to go to the cash register and buy all the things that we got. We headed out and for the rest of the day, we were shocked because of all the things that happened that day. This day changed my life because now I am protective over my sister and you gotta watch out for the small things in life take care of your things and take care of your siblings. Don’t a mistake that I’ve made. The thing I learned from this is that you have to be more aware of your surroundings and learn to love your siblings because anything could happen and you will regret not showing love to them.
