Nursing College is So Much More Than Just the Degree

Why College and Nursing College is more than just the degree it promises? At a time when student debts are soaring, one would question why anyone would want to join college. Well, I am already here, fully enrolled and ready for what is likely to be the best and most important experience of my life.

College is about the connections that you make. You could be studying, in the same class, with the next Bill Gates or you could easily have your own Zuckerberg experience. There is also the likely outcome of gaining critical knowledge. This is where you get to earn education and skills that are essential for surviving this extremely competitive world. Creativity is likely to be improved here while talents get perfected. Understanding different cultures is also an added advantage as colleges enroll students from different backgrounds with unique cultures which exposes each student to a part of the world they never knew about. College is about gaining knowledge, sharing experiences and understanding the world in its various aspects, thus, my enrollment in this prestigious institution.

Elementary school created a passion for learning new concepts in me. Knowledge was exciting then as it is even up to now. The thought of gaining even more knowledge excited me. I would spend hours in the school library, sometimes even reaching out for voluminous books as they seemed to contain more knowledge. However, as with most things we desire, I found the books to be, most of the time, difficult to understand and I gradually lost interest. My English was still basic at this time. As I moved to middle school, more complex words were introduced and I could now understand complex books. My interest in English was average at best during this time, it however grew once I joined high school. I wanted to become a writer and my English teacher encouraged me, advising that I should read more books and pay attention to the dynamics of the English language. In my quest to understand English and learn new words, I came across a collection of influential women in the 19th century. This is where I learnt the history of Florence Nightingale and probably what subtly influenced my college degree selection.

As a person, I understand my limitations. In as much as I would want to surpass them, I am well aware of the lengths I cannot surpass. I plan to come out of this institution with a nursing degree, however, more importantly, I hope to understand the world better through my college experience. I believe that understanding the world will help me become a better nurse, and a better person generally. Through my nursing degree, I hope to care for patients and help lengthen their lives and relieve them of the pain resulting from various ailments. Understanding the world will help me connect with patients emotionally which, I believe, will help with my provision of nursing care.

Every course has its challenges and so does nursing. Attaining the degree will require perseverance, endurance, patience and a lot of practice. Through these four attributes, I believe that the nursing degree will be achievable. According to Hoerr, grit is an integral part of a student’s success in any level of learning (118). Grit involves the aforementioned attributes. Enrolling for the nursing course and having an interest in creating a better world through touching one life at a time will not be enough to complete this degree. Nursing will require working smart which I plan to do. Having a schedule and sticking to it will help me plan my time, allocating enough time for study and for recreational activities. With a proper plan, productivity is likely to be achieved. I also plan on having meaningful nursing-centered interaction with my fellow class members. Having classmates with common goals of success in this field and interacting with them will help me remain focused through the positive influence that will result from our interactions such as group studies. Interacting with nursing students in upper levels will also help as they can advise on how they made it past the first year of this college course. Learning from already accomplished nurses will also help me understand how to go about the nursing profession. I plan on engaging nurses in local hospitals and inquiring how they managed to go through college and their experiences in the nursing field. Understanding innovations and inventions in the nursing field will prepare me for nursing practice as the nursing field is an ever evolving profession. As technology advances, nursing practice also improves. Identifying mentors in school and in the nursing profession will make these plans and goals practical. Recreation is also important in keeping the mind active. For my study breaks and to break the monotony of nursing, I plan on playing musical instruments. English is an essential part of this course, and many other courses. Through English, the skills that I require for writing term papers, essays and any other academic paper will be acquired.

Knowledge can only be acquired and applied effectively through proper education. Having a college degree now is more important than ever. It is easier to find a job with a college degree than without (Oreopoulos, Philip, and Uros Petronijevic 2). Therefore, college is essential, at least for me, as I plan on securing a future through the practice of nursing. English will be an essential tool through all my undergraduate and even post-graduate years.

My name is Rafael Ortiz, and I am a second-year student in Aviation (Aeronautical Engineering) at the ZHAW School of Engineering. I am delighted to seize this unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only further improve my language and communication skills but also to enhance my future career opportunities. I am particularly interested in studying at the Estonian Aviation Academy due to its multicultural environment, innovative education system, and the numerous programs taught in English. My interest in discovering new, to me unknown cultures and countries motivated me to study in Estonia. Finally, the numerous museums in Tartu, which allow for enrichment in knowledge, led to this decision as well.

As I have always planned to spend a semester abroad during my studies, I am eager to enrich my general knowledge and broaden my mind, get insight into the different educational systems, experience different cultures and traditions and develop my professional individuality. I am excited to exchange ideas with different people from all over the world and hear their perspectives. Communication is an integral part of both, my studies and aviation in general. In addition, I was further encouraged by the exchange students from Estonia that are currently studying at the School of Engineering in Winterthur.

I have excellent English proficiency which would allow me to adapt quickly to an English-speaking country and university. My first experience as an exchange student was in 2014, during my language stay in Montpellier, France. This language stay wasn’t organized by me but by my vocational school. Although I didn’t enjoy learning French, I enjoyed living in a different culture with people from around the world. My second experience as an exchange student followed a year later in London. Unlike my first language stay, I not only enjoyed living with a host family and working with many different people but also learning and enhancing my English. I organized this language stay by myself to be better prepared for the English exam (First). Although both languages stays lasted only two weeks, they were both an enrichment which I will remember very well.

Finally, I would like to say that I am highly self-motivated and once I have set myself a goal, I strive to achieve it. Having traveled internationally by myself several times, I am convinced that these experiences and my open-mindedness make me an ideal exchange student and thus perfect for this exchange program. In engineering particularly I feel as though students develop theoretical knowledge surrounding engineering concepts however there is a difference between an engineering issue on a piece of paper compared to a real-life scenario. Students at university are guided in how to make specific solutions to specific problems however, real-life engineering issues are not so linear and straightforward. I would be interested in experiencing more real-life engineering situations that require me to analyze and develop a solution so I can be more competent and confident as a future engineer.

This goal is difficult to make sure that it has been fulfilled. In order to achieve this goal, I will need to be put in real-world engineering situations during my internships that will develop my problem-solving abilities. During my future internship if I feel as though I am not being put into scenarios where I can learn and think of effective solutions in order to reach this goal I will request to be given responsibilities that will allow this or worst case scenario I will find a new internship. Another way to ensure I learn this skill is by observing well-experienced engineers and how they cultivate solutions.

I will ensure that most of my time at my internship is spent surrounded by experienced engineers that are skilled in finding effective solutions to engineering problems. I believe this would be the most effective way of fulfilling this goal as they will teach me what mistakes to avoid and how they have learned from them. I will also gain perspective from a seasoned engineer.

The best way to measure this goal would be to list certain scenarios where I had encountered an engineering-related problem and how I was able to analyze the situation and what solution or method I implemented to mitigate the problem. Alongside this, I will include what the other engineers I work with had come up with so I could take that on board for future scenarios.

I believe that this goal will further improve my proficiency as an engineer by learning how to implement different engineering software to complete a job or to improve the efficiency of that job. I am not concerned about mastering this skill set, but having a diverse range of experience in the types of programs civil engineers will use in the field and gain familiarity with. I think teaching myself these skills or from future internship experience, it will increase my employability as a graduate engineer.

Firstly, I will need to research and enquire with experienced civil engineers to decipher what programs they use in their company, and then over time, I will ask to be involved in using these programs during my internship. As I become more competent in using one of the programs, I will ask my employer if I could gain experience in using a different one. This will allow me to have a range of program abilities.

To determine what software and development tools the company I intern at uses I will just need to ask my colleagues and supervisor. Whilst initiating a conversation about the tools it would be helpful to decipher what programs would be the most beneficial for me to learn and prioritize using those. I will then need to talk to my supervisor about allowing me to do various job tasks so I can make use of the different software for different responsibilities.

This goal can be measured by listing the programs and experience I had gained from using them. While this is conceptual knowledge I will be able to rank my skill ability and knowledge of each program. If I am unable to numerically, mathematically, or computationally be able to predict performance using these programs I have been unsuccessful.

As I would like to work as a Structural Engineer post my degree I will need to gain the required experience now using systems and processes so that I will be more employable and be an ideal option in my future employers’ perspective in comparison to other graduates for this type of position.

To achieve this goal I will have to improve my AutoCAD abilities and learn how to make structural diagrams for buildings that I intend to design. I am quite capable of using AutoCAD, but I would need to work alongside a structural engineer so I can learn more complex techniques and ask questions in areas I require help. I will need to develop my skills using this program in my spare time so that I am more efficient at work.

The best way to reach this goal would be by doing thorough research of potential internships to work at and what ones focus on structural/ AutoCAD work. I would need to discuss with the employer during the interview and ask about the tasks that I would like to be doing and what level of exposure I would have to AutoCAD. This is crucial because if I am not exposed to the responsibilities and roles that were discussed during the interview I will be able to document that in my performance review.

I have already developed a reasonable amount of progress when it comes to this goal, post internship I would like to have a highly developed skillset using AutoCAD and whatever supplementary program the company uses and understand and meet engineering/industry standards when it comes to designing structures. I will be able to know if I have proficiently developed this skill further if I am confident in my AutoCAD abilities and won’t need guidance from other staff members. In order to present I have attained this level of development, I will have documented copies of my designs.

Once I graduate as an engineer I would like to work in an innovative position as a structural/design engineer. This will involve continual research into the development of new technologies and designs. If I can reach this goal throughout my internship, I will have gained enough research experience making me more valuable as a graduate engineer for design positions. In conjunction with improving my research abilities, I may be able to implement the knowledge I gain in upcoming engineering projects.

If I am successful at finding a suitable job to fulfill this target, I am certain I will be able to complete this goal. If I feel that I am not being able to develop this skill during the internship, I will organize to meet with my supervisor and discuss the tasks that I have been given and how I can change my future tasks to be more research-based.

The best way to reach this goal would be by doing thorough research of potential internships to work at and what ones focus on research and developing new engineering possibilities. I can ensure this by searching for jobs early on so I am able to be choosey with which jobs I select. I can also call up companies and decipher whether their values align with mine and what ones will help me to reach my educational goals. I will also gain an understanding of what my role would be like in the position.

This goal can simply be measured by either stating I did or didn’t achieve this goal by finding an internship where I can apply current research papers to develop engineering project opportunities. If I am able to do this I can state that I have achieved this goal. With greater exposure and practice in implementing practical usage of research papers, I will develop a more advanced skill. This is all dependent on the type of exposure I receive to this during my internship. In order to portray how I have developed this skill, I will have documentation of how I was able to implement research papers to meet client demands.

The ultimate goal I would like to gain from the internship would be the ability to adapt theoretical knowledge developed at university into real-world engineering scenarios. This is my most valued goal as skill co-depends on knowledge when it comes to being a skilled engineer. I will also be able to better learn concepts if I have the practical experience to relate the theory.

In conjunction with being one of my more important goals, it is also quite difficult to plan and achieve. I believe the best way to achieve this would be to observe senior engineers as they would have developed the skill to a very high level. I can take notes and try to implement their methodology into my work. I would be hoping to work alongside engineers that have strongly developed skills in discipline fundamentals and abstraction when evaluating systems.

Achieving this goal will require spending quite a large amount of time alongside the senior engineers and shadowing them for a portion of my internship. I will need to put together questions to improve on my weak areas and accumulate more knowledge that I haven’t been previously exposed to. If I am doing individual work later on I will approach the other engineers and ask for their advice or perspective on the work I’m doing.

This goal can’t be measured numerically, however, the best way to measure this would be to implement a system on mini-milestones and a compilation of questions and answers I have accumulated throughout my internship. I will also measure this goal by recording my learning relevant to applying mathematics, abstraction, and fundamentals of the discipline in order to design, analyze, and operate. This could be shown through shadowing senior engineers or presenting my own work.

I look forward to developing these skills as this discipline has been my prime interest. I wish the pursue my career in this field and gain experience. If I am able to gain structural engineering experience in my internship this will allow me to develop a larger understanding of the practical engineering involved in the structural engineering industry. Having industry experience in this field will project me ahead of other graduates who are trying to get into the same field.

If I am able to achieve this goal I will require an internship that is focused on structural engineering. I will need a mentor that is a structural engineer who can teach me how to work in that type of environment. In adjacent to this I will need to be given a role that is dependent on working alongside and discussing with other engineers structural design and concepts. Lastly, I will need to put in extra work outside of my internship to make sure I have good fundamental knowledge prior to working on a project.

This is an ambitious goal for me as getting a structural engineering internship is quite competitive and I will have to apply to many positions in hopes of securing one. I believe I can increase my chances by networking with people and joining the Lucy Mentoring Program that UTS offers so I can find a well-suited structural internship. I would likewise look into what these companies are looking for in their prospective interns, whether it be grades or extracurricular activities, and aim to reach these goals. I also believe starting my search for a job early on will allow me to be choosey about what job will better allow me to achieve my goals.

I think the best way to determine whether I have achieved this goal would be to enter a discussion with structural engineers and gauge whether I can keep up with them with my theoretical knowledge of structural engineering. Another way would be my ability to teach someone else structural engineering concepts and how well I have grasped the idea of this field of engineering that I could relay the information. To justify that I have reached this goal I would show evidence of the experience that I had developed at my internship and cases where I was able to use that knowledge on projects.

I believe that I have sufficiently developed my interpersonal skills both at university and in my previous internship. However, I think that my communication skills can still be further developed in high-stress situations, public speaking, meeting with clients, and instructing sub-contractors. In high-intensity situations like those, I do panic and feel uneasy and may not be able to adequately communicate points as well as I would like to.

In order to reach this goal, I will need to be exposed to the high-pressure situations that I have listed. These are highly probable situations that I will encounter in an engineering situation, and I won’t need to search for this high-intensity environment as it would come naturally in the engineering field. Most of these high-stress scenarios occur at the beginning of internships when you are unfamiliar with the job and are still finding your footing in the company. It will be a good test to see how I respond to this in my next internship.

These situations are very common during engineering internships so I won’t need an elaborate plan to fulfill this goal other than securing an internship where I am given an adequate amount of responsibility. If I am feeling confident in my internship and want to further develop my interpersonal skills I will suggest to my supervisor to let me present in meetings or organize meetings on topics I think need to be discussed on projects.

I will be able to determine whether I have successfully fulfilled this goal judging by my ability to confidently convey my points in these high-pressure scenarios. Another good way to test if I have improved my interpersonal skills would be to pay attention to how nervous I am entering a similar scenario. This would be a good test of my confidence levels and how well I can convey my thoughts without being overcome with nerves. I am hoping to reach both of these indicators of attainment in order to justify that I have completed this goal. I will also reflect on those scenarios and assess how I felt and performed during them.

I have experience with Microsoft Windows, Apple, Android and Linux. I have knowledge and executed some jobs done with some application packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CorelDraw. Installation of application packages for system and networking of computer system, and repair/replacement of damage computer systems as I have worked as a computer operator and instructor in time past with some local firms and organization.

I have not been recognized by any organization or contested in mathematics, physics competition as I have graduated from secondary school since 2003 and the knowledge of IT back then in my country was very poor, and immediately, I left my secondary school. I have striven to learn computer all by myself searching for materials online and offline giving that I was not having a strong financial backup to further my education, aside computer. I love to drive vehicle, swimming and mostly chatting with friends about innovations and inventions. It has been my utmost desire to help my country with electronic voting system as it’s been done in Estonia to avert violence and killings whenever its political year.

If given the opportunity to become a cyber security engineer, with the skill and knowledge that will be acquired from TalTech IT College, I will make my country a better place by working selflessly with like-minds to make my country a digital society, preventing it from cyberattacks, making daily activities less stressful and increase the knowledge base and importance of information technology to young and old of my beloved country that alone will reduce the crime rate and insecurity and pose a good image of Nigeria to the world at large.

How Would Scholarship Money Impact Your College Career: Essay

I was excited to read about the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship and would certainly like to apply for it. My application is conditional upon being awarded a scholarship, and I sincerely wish for a full-study scholarship.

Growing up on the outskirts of Beijing, I have witnessed how economics has changed the life of local citizens. For the past decade, my hometown – Daxing – has transformed from an agriculture-intense district to a place where medical factories, food processing plants, and the new airport all lie within. This has inspired me to pursue a relevant and meaningful education and profession and strived all the way from being a small-town girl to becoming a world citizen.

Thanks to the National Scholarship, I was able to spend two decent years at UCSD with a major in Economics and eventually graduated from CUEB with the Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis prize. Through my work pay at Total and the Mitsubishi UFJ Scholarship awarded for excellence in academics, I was able to support myself through my senior year. My work on and off-campus has displayed the legacy of both schools, such as UCSD’s research tradition and CUEB’s spirit of serving the community. At the 2018 UCSD Faculty Mentoring Program Symposium, my presentation gained high approval among other researchers and listeners by urging a change in the current water management manual according to forecasts and adopting maintenance cost reduction measures. In my later independent project initiated for the Daxing District, I was able to analyze and forecast the local house price. These experiences are all challenging and rewarding. In all, my time studying in multiple nations has not only allowed me to gain knowledge but also trained me to become a problem-solver with a global perspective. I feel that I have a responsibility to share with the Erasmus Mundus community what CUEB and UCSD have contributed to my learning and personal development.

Without any source of income for the two academic years of the master’s program, however, will make it difficult to continue my graduate work while being in great financial difficulty. Receiving the Erasmus Mundus scholarship will provide me with the peace of mind and security to manage my rent, utilities, transportation, and book expenses. The scholarship will allow me the time to focus on maintaining a high GPA, and take up a full load of classes while simultaneously preparing for my thesis. My observation of the surroundings and experiences have continued to motivate me to persist and to use my education to solve different kinds of problems aroused in the ever-changing global economy. I trust the scholarship selection committee will provide me with the support I need to bolster my potential studies in the QEM program and to actualize my goal of becoming an economist.

Why I Want to Study Abroad: Essay

Introduction

I am Jaspreet Singh from India. I’m currently pursuing a full-time post-graduation certificate program (Global Business Management) at Conestoga college. As usual, before coming to study in Canada I faced a lot of ups and downs which I will share in this report. There are various decisions that I took in my entire life but the hardest decision was whether I continue my studies in Canada or not. I devoted a lot of time to decide about this because this is one of the vital parts of my life so here is my decision-making model describing my situation.

Identifying the Problem

After completing my graduation in Business Administration, I was very confused about my future as I wanted to serve an institution as an accountant but can’t find any job are too many struggles. After four months after my graduation, I got a job at HDFC Bank as a junior credit manager (JCM). After working for 4-5 months there I come to know that there is no scope for growth so I planned to study abroad and that was the turning point in my life. This is a crucial part of my life so I had to be careful before taking this decision. Studying abroad is not easy as there are too many problems faced including homesickness, financial problems, program selection, country selection, etc. I had to take my decision by keeping all these problems in mind.

Gathering Information

I started gathering some information about my plan to study abroad. There are some problems that I need to keep in mind while making my final decision. I research the study abroad requirements online and come to know that there are some requirements that are to be fulfilled to study abroad. These requirements are different for different countries. But there is a requirement for IELTS in every country. Most of my friends suggested I come to Canada as it is a welcoming country. Apart from my friends, my brother is also studying in Canada and he also suggested I come here and gave me some options to select from. To collect more information, I attended some seminars in which college associates met students who are willing to come study abroad. There I heard about Conestoga college, which I find a reputed college among others. The associates told me about the campuses and the study criteria which includes a lot of practical knowledge.

Generating Options

I need to select some alternatives within which I can decide and overcome the problems. There are alternatives with critical categories which includes:

  • Countries: In the beginning, I had 4 countries in my mind within which I had to make decisions (United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia).
  • Geographic: Location is also one of the major parts to select. As if I select Australia, I need to select one city and search for colleges in that city and if I select Canada, then firstly I need to select a province and then the city in it which had colleges with good reputations.
  • College: After selecting the city I need to search for the colleges in that city. As I said Canada is my first priority so I figure out some colleges such as Centennial College, Conestoga College, Seneca college, etc.
  • Programs: As I completed my graduation in Business Administration so I had a great interest in business lines and my dream programs are International Business Management, Human Resource Management, and Global Business Management.

Analyzing the situation and Selecting the best option

After analyzing my situation and the options available to me I started figuring out the best option. From the above options, I selected to continue my studies in the province of Ontario, Canada. After selecting Ontario I’m a little confused about selecting the college as there are too many good colleges in Ontario. Then I started my research over the internet and started collecting information from my friends (in Canada) who helped me to select Conestoga college over all other colleges due to its good infrastructure and friendly faculty members. At last, I select Global Business Management at Conestoga college as this program is having all of my desired courses which I want to study.

Implementing the Plan

Now as I had selected the correct options, it was time for the implementation. Firstly, I have to prepare for my IELTS as it is the gateway to my dreams. After 20 days of training, I cracked IELTS and entered the race of going to study abroad. I visited some consultancy agencies to process my application for a student visa. I provide them with all my past qualification certificates and apply for the offer letter from Conestoga college. Within 20-25 days my offer letter arrived and I deposited my fees online and get received my payments. Next to it, I opened my GIC account in Scotia Bank and I’m all ready to apply for my visa. Within 22 days my visa gets approved and I did a little shopping and booked my air ticket to Canada. My uncle is living in Brampton city and he came to receive me at the airport. I was living with them for 15 days and the whole family helped me a lot to start my new life here. It was too challenging to find accommodation near my college as there is no one known to me in that area. My cousin helped me to find accommodation in Waterloo city, which I like the most. Finally, I attended my orientation and starts my studies here. It’s almost 3 months since my studies get started and I have almost completed my first semester. I personally liked this experience as this is a peaceful country and people are welcoming.

Evaluating & Learning from Decision

Overall it was an amazing experience as my dreams come true and I’m studying at Conestoga College, Canada. I like this country as it is a multicultural country with the people properly following rules and regulations. Moreover, I like the transportation services (GRT) here and people are so helpful that you never feel homesick. It’s only 3 months since I’m here and I learned so many new things like skating, preparing food, and a lot more which are added to my experience list. I think this was the most important decision in my life and had become a turning point in my life as I’m living a quality life here in Canada. This assignment remembers the struggles I had made during this decision and help me to take good decisions in the future which turns out to be a good thing for me.

My College Goals in the Field of Cyber Security

“You know what’s better than building things up in your imagination? Building things up in real life.”

I have experienced that the above quote has always worked for me. At a very young age as a student in high school, a computer for me was only a means of entertainment as I found it exciting to play games. I was naïve to know that games are nothing but programs. I was curious to know how to program and that’s how I developed an interest in computers. This interest led me to choose Bachelor’s in Computer Application for my undergraduate education. This decision gave me the opportunity to understand Computer Applications and Software Development and aided me to saddle my technical aptitude. It brought me close to my ultimate goal of building a system that is safe and secure for every industry so that digitalization and cyber security can go hand in hand.

In the era of digitalization, the security of computer systems and networking has become the most important topic. Information and Data is the most significant component of almost of every industry. Therefore, the protection and retention of the same is vital. This led me to choose Cyber Security and Computer Forensics as my post-graduation course. It will help me to create a robust security system that will prevent the loss of information and data. And in the case, if the system falls or a breach is made, the computer forensics knowledge will help me to identify the hack, understand the source and recover compromised data.

I look forward to a career path in the field of Cyber Security and Computer Forensics where I can not only use my academic background to achieve my goals but also make contributions to my field of interest. I believe that this particular post-graduation course by Lambton College, Mississauga would help me to understand cybersecurity concepts, industry best practices for information security and key security concepts that will protect an organization against fraud, data breaches and other vulnerabilities. I believe that it is the best college for me to achieve my goals while gaining experience and exposure to a diverse student body and faculty. I truly believe that no other college provides students with the combination of cross-border culture, education and friendly environment, required for overall personality development, as offered by this esteemed institution.

My absolute aim is to become Cyber Security and Computer Forensics Analyst. This program will enable me to do just that, equipping me with the relevant knowledge pertaining to the in-depth understanding of cyber-security issues, and fundamental internet architecture and protocol as well as familiarity with industry-standard platforms that will make me a marketable candidate in a highly competitive job market in India. Personal Statement on My College Goals in Psychology

My parents have always stressed the importance of education to my sister and me our entire lives. Education has served as the foundation upon which my goals and dreams have been built on. I have been blessed with the opportunity to further my education beyond grade school and onto the collegiate level. My greatest ambition in life is to help children develop to their fullest potential. My teachers and professors have played a major role and have helped me gain insights in the field of Psychology over the years. Throughout this process, I have known that graduate school would play an integral role in furthering my education and achieving my goals. I feel that my academic work and field experiences have prepared me to engage in graduate studies in Psychology at the University of Cincinnati.

As a freshman in college, my number one goal was always to become successful and make my parents proud by doing something they desired me to. With this mindset, I began my college journey as a nursing major. During general courses, I fell in love with the principles of psychology and knew that it was a career path I was destined to take. With a few nursing semesters under my belt, I decided to pursue an educational path in something that I loved, which was the field of Psychology. Once I was in my psychology major I did my best to take advantage of the resources within my department. I took one class in specific, Psychology of Learning, that led to my interest of getting into the field of Behavior Analysis and working alongside children of all ages who have been diagnosed with Autism and other Intellectual Disabilities. I am interested in performing research specific to evaluating and interceding with children diagnosed with Autism as well as assessing and treating abnormal behavior in children with developmental disorders such as ADHD.

I recently accepted a position as a Registered Behavior Technician at a center for kids with Autism and other behavioral diagnoses. The graduate program in Behavior Analysis at The University of Cincinnati will provide me with an opportunity to develop both as a scholar and a clinician. In addition, it will provide me with knowledge of behavior analysis to facilitate my career while working with children having developmental disorders. After achieving a master’s degree at The University of Cincinnati, I plan to utilize my academic knowledge of behavior analysis to increase my comprehension and become a Board-Certified Behavior Analysis in the state of Alabama.
