Obtaining a Hungary Scholarship as a Step to Achieve Career and Personal Goals

In the words of the Dalai Lama, ‘’the prime purpose of us humans in this life is to help other people, and if you cannot help them, at least do not hurt them’.

I have always wanted to be a social service provider for as long as far back as I can remember. To say nothing of, I have been, on numerous occasions, tasked with the responsibility of taking care of countless patients. Also, I have been engaging in environmental cleanups since way back in high school. I feel that I will be able to care for more people in my country with the opportunity your scholarship will offer and that makes me exuberant about my future.

Hungarian Universities offer quality education that will enable me to accomplish my goals of universal healthcare and achieving global sustainability. The reason why I have chosen this programme owes to the fact that I have always had a desire to make healthcare affordable to everyone, with or without a healthcare cover in all countries, especially here in Kenya.

First and foremost, I want to give back to the communities that struggle to get medical assistance and every other day to sustain a family as compared to privileged groups. I want to establish a medical facility that will be free and will provide medical assistance that is affordable to everyone regardless of status. This will include free or low-priced medicine, nutrition checkups and free consultations. Likewise, I have the intention of creating a program that will assist patients financially in cases of surgeries and getting translators in scenarios where the patients neither speak nor understand English in order to ease the burden of language barrier and facilitate proper communication between patients and doctors.

Lastly, I want to create internship opportunities for medical practitioners around the country by establishing an NGO (a Non-Profit Organization). More remote areas will be reached by allowing the practitioners to travel to isolated communities around the country and the world. Similarly, offering nutritional education and support in remote areas will help contribute to the massive physical development of children to ensure the alleviation of poverty in severely-affected areas.

In recent years, I have acquired life-saving skills as I have been a volunteer at St. John’s for over six years, from February 2014 to date. In addition to that, I have been awarded certification in AIESEC Leadership Development Experience through a Global Volunteer opportunity tackling the sustainable development goal quality education that I successfully completed on August 15th 2019 after a period of about 6 weeks at a United Nation’s summit held in Brazil.

I come from a family of four. This carries a lot of responsibilities as I am the oldest and the one they look up to. In other words, I want to be the best example I can be to the younger ones coming after me, whether family, relatives or friends.

There are three things that are important to me. Firstly, family, whose meaning may differ from one person to the next, but for me, life is all about my family. Secondly, being successful at achieving my goals of bringing about universal health care. Last but not least, leaving a worthy legacy. As my parents always said, it is more fulfilling to do something that can help others who cannot be able to repay you, more than anything else for profit. Consequently, I keep this in my mind every day to help me in my quest to becoming a better person in this world.

To that end, making my family so proud and showing them their sacrifice was all worth it, would be a much-welcomed achievement. My sincere hope is that people around me and everywhere else will no longer have to experience suffering, poverty and homelessness. This is why, to me, success is important as it will enable me to have a career that I love and will aid me in financially assisting my family members.

Having said that, I would love to become someone who makes an impact on the lives of everyone in this vast world. I am neither looking for fame nor glory, but I want to be more than a statistical binary digit during my lifetime. I find myself unwilling to accept the status quo that things should remain the way they are, that I can change the negatives to make my immediate environment better in terms of health and in line with the sustainable development goals. Moreover, I want to influence a legacy that will shape the generations after me to be better, to do better.

I became a senior officer at St. John’s in December 2018 after successfully showcasing my leadership skills to the organization for the six years I have been volunteering. This, in taurn, helps me better understands the workings of an institution and get better at interpersonal skills with my colleagues. Additionally, I am a team player as I work well with other individuals in any setting. One becomes better at communication at such levels and acquires critical problem-solving skills as well as having the adaptability to working under pressure as it is a fast-paced environment.

During the UN Global Volunteer Sustainable Development Goals’ Summit in Brazil, I taught children between the ages of nine and seventeen years about the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), but I realized there was a breakdown in communication due to language barrier. I was able to adapt to the situation by learning a bit of Portuguese and using Google translate in order to get the important information across. Notably, this helped me understand that preparation is key in any planning and having the right information helps in averting problems in the future, similar to my goal of improving the healthcare systems in my country.

The Path to the Chief Executive Officer Title

A chief executive officer is a rewarding title but requires a lot to gain that title. The steps to be a CEO are rigorous, competitive, and requires a strong work ethic, but will lead to financial success. The first step of becoming a CEO is finding a college. Most chief executive officers went to business school. The top 5 business schools include the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University, Harvard University, Berkeley University, and the University of Chicago. All of these schools are extremely prestigious and only accept elite students that go above and beyond. Also, to achieve the title of CEO, hard work is required, promotions, and helping the company grow. Overall the chief executive officer title is competitive, requires a strong work ethic, and a college degree.

The title of CEO also requires extra work which is often tedious and requires a lot of hours of work. For example, some of the work that includes “Communicating on behalf of the company, leading the company’s short and long term strategy, and creating and implementing the company or organization’s vision and mission” (Sarahelizberger 2018). The average American works 44 hours per week which already is a lot of work, while on the other hand, an average CEO works 62.5 hours a week which is extremely tiring. Also, not only do they work this much they are also in charge of the business most of the time and the business will not always do well which affects the paycheck. As well as always having to be innovative, adaptive, and to be able to keep the company alive. These majors offer a basic understanding and a foundation to become a successful CEO and help support the business. Also, the base degree a CEO has is a bachelor’s degree in economics and business management, but to truly succeed usually a master’s degree is required to succeed. Overall the years of school vary as a bachelor’s degree does not take a long time while a masters required graduate school which is countless days and hours.

The top college that many CEOs attended is the University of Pennsylvania. UPENN’s mission statement is “To strengthen the quality of education and to produce innovative research and models of healthcare delivery by fostering a vibrant inclusive environment and fully embracing diversity”(UPenn). The acceptance rate of UPenn is 9.4% which is extremely low and extremely competitive. The campus is also extremely safe and the school also offers a free campus shuttle. The school is known for its business program as it offers a MBA, MSx, and PHD program for business. Some of the majors they offer include Economics, Management Science & Engineering. The acceptance rate for Stanford University is 4.7% which is extremely low and competitive. The average GPA to be admitted into Stanford is a 3.94 unweighted. The average SAT score to get admitted is a 1500 which puts you close to the 75th percentile. On top of the extremely high testing and GPA many extra curricular activities are also required. The tuition for Stanford is also $51,000 a year. Overall Stanford offers a great business program which is backed u by its rigorous application.

Berkeley University is another extremely reputable school and has a lot of success in their business program. The school is located in Berkeley which is a city on the east shore of the San Francisco Bay in Northern California and it Neighbors the cities of Oakland and Emeryville. The campus is large with 35,000 students from around the world. The Berkeley Campus also always has attractions, recreational sports, and great health and safety. The Berkeley University mission statement is “These principles of community for the University of California, Berkeley, are rooted in our mission of teaching, research, and public service. They reflect our passion for critical inquiry, debate, discovery and innovation, and our deep commitment to contributing to a better world” (Berkeley University). To get accepted to Berkeley is extremely vigorous as the acceptance rate is 16.9% which is rather low. Also, on top of the low acceptance rate, the minimum GPA is 3.87 which is similar to that of UPENN. Also, to compete with other applicants requirements include various extracurriculars and around 1500 sat score. University of Berkeley is one of the most accepting and least discriminating schools in the world. The school is known for its business program as it offers accounting, Business analysis, Finance, Marketing, and many more. Also, Berkeley has an undergraduate school called the Haas School of Business at The University Of Berkeley. Overall , Berkeley is an extremely prestigious school that is hard to get into and provides a great background in business and will develop students into successful chief executive officers.

Another great business school is Boston College, which is not as competitive as an ivy but still extremely competitive and still is hard to get into. The average acceptance rate is 31.1% and an average GPA is 3.86 which again is extremely hard to get into. Also, the average sat is around 1400 sat. The mission statement is “The Catholic Jesuit university is founded upon the conviction that the religious and the academic are intrinsically related. The movement of the mind towards meaning or truth initiates a process of questioning that naturally reaches the ultimate questions that engage religion. Similarly, the experience of the Catholic faith gives rise to disciplined inquiry as it calls for knowledge of itself and its relationship to every dimension of human life. The mission of Boston College is rooted in this dynamic integrity of the academic and the religious, a coherence of the divine and the human that reaches its fullest expression in Jesus Christ and extends to all forms of human culture and knowledge (Boston College Admissions). It is close to Boston which is great as there is great transportation and many things to do . Overall, Boston College is a prestigious school that is not as hard to get into as an Ivy League but is still extremely competitive and requires to be close to the top of a High School class.

To become a CEO requires a lot of work and is not a position that can be achieved by submitting an application . There are multiple ways to achieve the status of chief executive officer, either move up in ranks through a company which is through promotions or start a business. If deciding to go with the route of starting a business then take into account other chief executive officers, chairmen, and chief financial officers which take up pay and if the business is off to a rough start there won’t be a lot of money to be made. On the other hand even with that example before the average income for a small business entry-level Ceo is $109,000 which is an above-average salary. Although that is the CEO salary take into account that it is not possible to join a company and reach the title of CEO. For example, they may start as the manager of the department making close to $100,000 a year, then they will move up over years to a CFO and begin to make $150,000 to $250,000. Then, years later if they perform well and help the company they will move up to COO making a yearly average of around $250,000 to $300,000. Finally, to become a CEO they will have to stay with the company to help it succeed and eventually gain that title and make around $809,147. To speed up the process of reaching chief executive officer going to graduate school and graduating with a master’s degree in business will help to gain more information about business techniques and how to use them in the real world, giving more experience over other competitors. Also, constantly working with others and enhancing communication skills and learning from others in a higher position also gives a better understanding of the job and how to reach the status of the CEO. The title of chief executive officer is extremely prestigious but is not easily achieved and requires hours and years to reach the title.

Job location is extremely important when finding a job and most people would say the closer to a city the more money, but in the case of a CEO there really is not an ideal place to live as it all depends on their business. Many CEOs Although there isn’t necessarily an ideal place to live there are locations where it is better to start a business which again is another way to attain the title of CEO. The best place to start a business in New Zealand because of their “free trade agreements, pro-competition regulations, efficient tax codes, and an open political system”(World Atlas) allows for a great start. Singapore is a good place to start a business because of its business-friendly, and secure environment. Most CEOs also live in the city and most live in London and the median cost of living is $2,529 per month. Another place most CEOs live in is Florida specifically around Miami, Sarasota and Vero Beach. The median house price in Miami is $500,000 and the median rent is $1500 a month which is 12% higher than the overall cost to living. The median price of a home in Sarasota is around $300,000 and the rent is $1500 which is 8% higher than the overall average cost to live .Also, the best place to work is close to technology as at this day in age that is the business that is making the most profit. Nearly a fifth of the worlds CEOs work in tech and tech communications companies.

Women’s CFA® Scholarship as a Great Opportunity to Achieve My Career Goals

Early in my academic pursuit, I had an unusual understanding about Life that results are a function of choices, especially as it bothers around the allocation of scarce resources, hence my interest in finance and investment. Owing to the investment knowledge gap that exists around the globe, particularly in Africa, I seek to expand my knowledge on how best available resources can be effectively managed, while considering the attaching risk factors, in order to achieve optimum asset allocation, that would translate to sustainable growth and development. My career goal amongst others is to contribute to the global financial space so that it will become an environment where Investors’ interest comes first, markets function at their best and economies grow to their full capacities.

With over four years of working within the finance space, I believe it is imperative that I seek knowledge that will deepen my horizon in investment with a view to using the expertise acquired to help foster financial inclusion within my immediate environment and the world at large, while encouraging the younger generation with similar passion, especially the girl child. The ingredients of having a successful life are determination, hard work & exploring available opportunities and CFA Institute being the premier global association for investment management professionals does provide the platform for me, thus my resolve to apply for the Charter qualification exams.

My aspiration, just like every other good pursuit, is not without a challenge. I am financially constraint because my current income is just about enough to cater to my basic cost of living. This is worsened by the weak standing of the Naira when compared against the major currencies of the world, with which the CFA examination fees are valued. This notwithstanding, I am confident that channelling all my efforts and available recourses towards obtaining this proficiency would, in the long run, be worth it and support from charitable organizations would be helpful in my quest to impacting the investment industry.

Five years from now, I would have satisfactorily completed the CFA program, equipped with the intellectual tools needed to become the Chief Financial Officer of an organization and also offering investment advice globally which will satisfy my deep-seated desire of helping Economies growth by contributing significantly to the investment sub-sector.

I would like to thank you for the opportunity to put forward my application for this grant and for taking out time to review it and your contribution to the finance world by providing financial assistance to female candidates. I look forward to benefitting from this scholarship as this would not only afford me the chance to add value to myself, it will also aid my desire to champion the needed change within the Nigerian investment space and globally.

Achieving My Career Goals with Your Scholarship Program

I am currently enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy(PharmD) program at University of Health and Allied Sciences Ho, Ghana. My educational goal is to acquire a professional doctorate degree in pharmacy which will enable me pursue a career as a pharmacist and pharmacotherapy practitioner. After becoming a pharmacist, I plan to specialize in pharmacotherapy, the use of medicines in the treatment of diseases, conditions, and symptoms.

My interest in the pharmacy profession is rooted in my desire to be involved in the improvement of others’ health, to be knowledgeable in the various topics pertaining to health care, and to possess the means to explore my fullest potential through a meaningful career. I therefore think pursuing a career in pharmacy will provide me with the opportunity to help improve patient health on a larger scale. After graduation, I plan to practice pharmaceutical care in our local healthcare system especially in rural communities where there is lack of access to pharmaceutical care.

After graduation, I want to undertake various projects to improve the standard of living and quality of health of underserved populations in my country. The first project I want to undertake as a pharmacist is to partner with physician colleagues to establish a free alcohol and drug addiction treatment clinic around the country to provide free medical assistance to drug addicts regardless of the patient’s race, gender or sexual orientation. The diverse health services would include free consultations, free medication, and nutritional classes to curb the menace of alcohol and drug addiction in the country. This project is necessary because millions of chronic alcohol and drugs addicts in my country particularly my community are left without proper addiction treatment due to low funding and support given to it by the government.

The second project I would like to undertake is to establish in my country Ghana is to pioneer the establishment of medication adherence clinics within our healthcare system for patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. Patient noncompliance and non-adherence to medication is one of the important reasons for the failure of therapies and treatments. I believe improving medication adherence would have a far greater impact on the health of the population than any improvement in specific medical treatments. Together with other colleagues I would like to use my expertise in medication reviews, medication therapy management and enhanced patient counselling skills to improve medication adherence among patients with chronic disease conditions.

Another project I want to accomplish is to establish a non-profit organization which will seek to create avenue for medical and pharmacy students to go on medical outreach in isolated communities around the country to provide free medical services. I believe this initiative will greatly help to bridge the healthcare disparity gap and provide the needed healthcare intervention to marginalized communities, especially indigenous groups from poverty stricken part of the country.

However, these beautiful plans will only remain a dream if am not able to get the needed financial assistance to able to complete my pharmacy degree. As a matter of fact, I would not be at this level in my education without my mother’s support. Without having my father’s economical assistance, she has single handedly financed my education till now. But sadly, due to unexpected financial crisis, I am at risk of dropping out of pharmacy school if I don’t get sponsorship. This situation has arisen because my mother is battling with stroke resulting in financial difficulty. She works as a petty trader in our hometown, but the money she earns is not enough to pay for my pharmacy school, her medical bills and also cater for my younger siblings. As a result, I have resorted to doing odd jobs during vacations to help contribute to the achievement of my university education and help buy basic needs like textbooks.

I believe I deserve to be selected as a recipient of your foundation’s scholarship because despite the financial hardships, I have remained committed to making the most of my studies and have always done what is necessary to further my education. Besides, I am a student that does not only persistently work hard academically, but I constantly try to improve my own community’s quality of life by volunteering with our community clinic during vacations.

I believe education is the key to success, and I try to connect my passion for education with my desire of helping others. As a result, I decided to join a non-profit organization named HeartyLove Foundation, which provides free healthcare services such as health screening and donation of medicines to clinics in remote areas of the country. We also provide free educational resources to deprived schools and try to educate students from deprived communities about the steps they need to take in order to attain a higher education. As a member of the organization, my responsibilities consist of planning and organizing educational discussions about career occupations in the various fields of study. I believe that education should be a right not a privilege, and when I see that students are being denied the right of acquiring education, I feel the need to take action. Consequently, this is the major reason why I decided to be an active member of HeartyLove Foundation.

On the other hand, there are other leadership roles that I play on campus and in my community. From 2018 till now, I have been the treasurer for TEDx Talk club on campus where I help organize and seek for sponsorship for our TED talk to educate students on host of topics such as entrepreneurship and career choices. In addition, I am the Vice President of my community youth association where I help organize social, cultural and community service events for the youth in community. I lead group discussions on drug safety where I educate the youth on the effect of drug and alcohol misuse and the proper use of medicines.

I am grateful to find opportunities like the one your foundation is providing to students like myself who are constantly fighting for the right to receive education.

This scholarship represents to me an opportunity to fully focus my attention on the main objective of achieving the best I can in the Doctor of Pharmacy program. I will strive to be a representative and ambassador of Ascendant New York throughout my future career. I thank you for taking the time to evaluate this application and look forward to being selected as an Addiction Treatment Education scholar.

Great Adventure Being a Nurse

Although I earned an Associate of Arts Degree, I became interested in nursing when my country of birth (Sierra Leone) was faced with an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus which decimated hundreds of the population. As more people lost their lives, I became increasingly aware of the importance of medical care in our society. Within that same year, I became a mother to a beautiful and precious little girl. My daughter was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia, which is a rare type of blood disorder. My interest in this noble profession became a commitment. I believe as a mother with a sick child, I will be an advocate for other parents because I have a better understanding of their struggles and challenges.

I aim to be successful in nursing school and beyond. One of my primary goals is to manage my time and prioritize effectively. I also intend to develop interpersonal skills and enhanced emotional intelligence to help me better understand and effectively communicate with patients. I will engage in patient advocacy, particularly with people dealing with the struggles and challenges of sickle cell anemia. I will show competency in my work by making it a mission to understand and rationalize everything I do as a nurse. I will strive to avoid medical errors and mistakes by taking time to verify medical processes and medication dosages. I will apply theoretical knowledge by researching various theories and medical information and then use that knowledge and information to be a better nurse. My education at Palm Beach Atlantic University is a major life goal in itself. I look forward to gaining immense knowledge that will be crucial to my career path towards the healthcare system.

The notion of helping others has always been part of my existence, and it is what motivated me to choose nursing as a major. Caring is an important concept in nursing (Omari et al., 2013). To be a nurse, you must possess a genuine interest in the wellness of others, and it is a career that requires affection, time, and attention to people in need. I have always been a people’s person, by continually participating in volunteering work in my community. My experience doing voluntary work has been priceless because it made me realize that the joy and fulfillment you get from helping people transcends any material reward. Secondly, nursing is an adventurous, as well as a continuous, learning field that will give me the opportunity to grow and expand. Furthermore, nursing will provide me with the flexibility to spend more time with my family.

I intend to commit myself to effectively take advantage of every opportunity provided to me and persistently work hard academically all through the program. Secondly, I will participate in programs like community service to those in of medical assistance. This process will enable me to expand my knowledge while gaining a unique multicultural learning experience, interacting with people of all backgrounds as well as absorbing their insights and sharing mine in and outside of class.

Like many of us, choosing this profession was brought on by past experiences which made me appreciate the field and its merits. As a nursing student, balancing classes, studying, and family obligations can be challenging. I want to succeed; therefore, I need to be proactive by studying ahead, staying on top of assignments, and taking the initiative to ask for help. I will develop skills that will help me provide genuine care, and promote fast track recovery. I believe in a continuous learning process as I continue to build and enhance my nursing skills to better serve my community. I have always considered a nurse to be someone who can put a smile on the face of someone who is going through the worst of crises. I believe that when a nurse makes a patient feel better, they are not only treating their illness but are also improving their quality of life. The essence of nursing is caring (McClendon, 2017b). That to me is precisely the kind of nurse I aspire to become. Being a nurse is an adventure as well as a continuous learning process that I would be committed to bravely undertake each day in search of life-changing events and cures.

Statement of Educational Philosophy

Before pursuing my dream of furthering my education to become a teacher, I would get asked multiple different questions. “Why do you want to become a teacher?”, “What grade level would you prefer to teach?”, “Where and what type of school could you see yourself teaching?”, “Who do you want to be as a teacher?”. All of the questions seem rather simple and easy to answer. However, I feel as if these questions are rather difficult to answer. Even though I have an idea as to what my answers would be to those specific questions, they still require a significant amount of thought. I am a first-year student at Indiana University East, and my journey in the education program has just begun. Since my journey as a pre-service teacher has just begun, there is much room for me to grow both personally and professionally. Until then, I am unable to answer those particular questions thoroughly and confidently. Presently, my philosophy of education is a combination of both essentialism and progressivism. I believe that education should be focused on both the curriculum and the child, not just one or the other. To become an effective educator and promote the idea of essentialism and progressivism, I am required to be a reflective scholar, global citizen, and an instructional leader.

Reflective Scholar

Being a reflective scholar is one of the three key elements of becoming a successful educator. A reflective scholar is someone who emphasizes self-awareness. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to focus on the aspects of both teaching and learning. I want to educate my students in a way that will benefit them academically. To do so, I will have to self-reflect on my teaching methods and techniques. Self-reflection is also an essential part of being a successful educator along with being a reflective scholar. After I have finished teaching my students, I may ask myself, “Will my teaching techniques enhance my students’ academic performance and success?”. If the answer to my self-reflection question is no, then I will make specific alterations and adjustments to my teaching methods. I will present the curriculum to my students in a different style than before in hopes of advancing their competency levels. I will not stop until I find the correct teaching techniques and methods that will benefit all of my students.

Global Citizen

Throughout my journey as a pre-service teacher, I must be a global citizen. It is also important that I display the acts of a global citizen when I am a full-time educator. To be a global citizen, I must take an active role in my community and work with others to improve students both academically and personally. The children that I will be educating are the future of our next generation. My role as a teacher is not only to prepare my students for the grade levels to come, but to also prepare them for the ‘real world’, so they can be successful post grade school. I am majoring in Elementary Education, which means that I will be educating younger students. Although I will be educating younger students, I can still leave a lasting impression on them. To impact my students, I must create a sense of community. I want to create a safe, comfortable, and cooperative learning environment. I can create a safe, comfortable, and cooperative learning environment by working with students and parents. I can also create a safe, comfortable, and cooperative learning environment by building a judgment-free classroom. Building a judgment-free classroom is essential because not all students are the same, both academically and culturally. Likewise, my classroom will be filled with a diverse group of students. As an educator, I can celebrate students’ diversity by implementing multicultural lessons into the curriculum.

Instructional Leader

Being an instructional leader is also an essential element of becoming an effective educator. As a pre-service teacher, I could develop my instructional leader skills before entering the classroom as a teacher. To do this, I must observe instruction inside of the classroom. It is important that I get into the classroom so I can observe and build my capacity to support my future students. While I am observing, I could ask myself questions that could help me become an instructional leader such as, “What could I do as a teacher that would make a difference for students in the classroom?”. Asking myself questions challenges me to deeply understand the different types of approaches to teaching and the different types of curriculum and activities that I could present to my students.

It is important that I present my students with the most effective curriculum and activities that will benefit them, which will provide a pathway to advance students from one grade level to another. However, deciding which type of curriculum and activities work best for my students will be extremely difficult. Not all students learn the same, nor do they have the same learning abilities. For example, some students might excel in a certain subject while others struggle with that subject. It is my responsibility as both an instructional leader and as an educator to determine my students’ strengths and weaknesses. Once I recognize each of my students’ strengths and weaknesses, I will be able to determine what curriculum and activities are most effective to present to my students. As an instructional leader, I will also record my students’ growth, and if I notice that the curriculum and activities, I am presenting my students is not allowing them to grow academically, then I will find a new method that will enhance their academic success.

Philosophy of Education

My philosophy of education is a combination of essentialism and progressivism. Essentialists believe that students should be presented with essential knowledge. “This essential knowledge includes the skills of literacy (reading and writing), computation (arithmetic), and the subjects of history, mathematics, science, languages, and literature” (Ornstein, 2016). Progressivists believe that the children should be prioritized over the curriculum. Progressivists center their curriculum based on the students’ needs, interests, and abilities. Even though these theories contradict each other and demonstrate different practices in the classroom, I think both the curriculum and the children are important. I will provide my students with the essential knowledge that will lead them to success in life while also prioritizing the well-being of my students.

I believe both the formal and the hidden curriculum are important to present to students. The formal curriculum consists of courses, lessons, and activities that students should participate in, in order to advance academically. Courses, lessons, and activities should include history, mathematics, science, languages, and literature. These essential subjects will prepare them for the rest of their academic career, and potentially their careers outside of the classroom. Conversely, the hidden curriculum does not focus on the core subjects; it focuses on the ‘unwritten’. Through the hidden curriculum, students are able to discover who they are as an individual. As a teacher, I will introduce my students to the qualities that could potentially identify them as an individual. For example, I will introduce my students to responsibility, integrity, honesty, generosity, and creativity. All of these qualities are just as important to introduce to students as the core subjects.

My role as a teacher is to prepare my students for their academic future, but I also want to be more than just a teacher to my students. I want to build personal relationships with each of my students. Building personal relationships with students creates a positive learning environment, and it assists in building a classroom community. Providing my students with a safe and ‘community’ type of environment will allow them to feel comfortable. They will not be afraid to ask questions, share their ideas, or ‘fail’. Asking questions, sharing ideas, and even failing will allow them to grow as a student, and it could potentially increase their academic performance. As a teacher, I will also believe that every student has the potential and ability to become successful, not just as a student, but as an individual. I will always push my students to be the best they can be.

Currently, my philosophy of education is a combination of essentialism and progressivism, but I will always keep an open mind. I will not be opposed to change. However, I do believe that some of my beliefs about education will remain the same. I will always want what is best for my students, and I know that in order to be a successful teacher, I must be a reflective scholar, global citizen, and an instructional leader. As a pre-service teacher, I do not know who I will be as a teacher in the future. I still have a significant amount of room to grow both personally and professionally. After I finish my journey as a pre-service teacher, I will be able to face and discover the answer to the question, “Who do you want to be as a teacher?”. Until then, that question will be left unanswered.

Where and How Do I See Myself in 5 Years: Essay

In five years, I see myself in one of the schools in my town as the worst teacher anyone could ever imagine. One that the students will never forget because of the impact I have had on their lives. A rare teacher that any student would ask for another year, perhaps a decade of being their mentor. A teacher that every student would ask for, that’s what I wanted to become in five years.

Many people would think of my idealism about being a great teacher as hopeless. Yet, it is not far impossible to achieve. I grew up in a poor place and had limited resources in terms of education, but because I encountered a lot of worst teachers, I have learned the most essentials and probably the only things we need to learn. In learning, I have discovered three things that I won’t ever forget in my entire life. One is that learning is of any form. As a man filled with curiosity, I hadn’t thought of this until I noticed the boring system of education. I know that school is the environment needed for learning, but as experienced by most people, especially me, there are a lot more ways to learn than just sitting properly, listening to lectures, and raising hands when called. I see classrooms as an unchanging structure of education since the time we all could remember. Secondly, grades are only an evaluation of performance not learning. It is quite debatable, isn’t it? Let me explain my point. People nowadays are short-term learners, and as a man of my philosophy, what is learning a decade or two from now? In simple words, according to psychology, an hour after your study, 50% of the content you have studied will vanish and the other half remains, by five hours, only 20% remains. This can be proven by any experiment if you would like to know it yourself. Thus, what’s the point of calling it learning when you will probably forget it after some time? Lastly, everyone is intelligent. There is a famous quote by Albert Einstein that states, “Everybody’s a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid”. Everyone has their own way of learning, which is why a systematic learning environment cannot satisfy the needs of every student. Hence, if all personal bits of intelligence are catered to by the school, then we can conclude that everyone can show their true performance based on learning in a lifelong process.

Moreover, five years from now, I will be a competitive professional raised in a competitive school with quality learning that will suffice my idea of being the worst teacher. I will gratefully teach my students the importance of these three things I have learned in my learning journey and will inculcate to their minds their uniqueness in their own and that learning is a lifelong process that everyone, not one is exempted, will experience. I would like to raise myself as a man that will cater to every bit of intelligence of my students and not be swallowed by the educational system to give them the attention they want. I would allow myself to be a learner-centered teacher and would ensure that every student I handle will learn a thing or two in my advisory that will remain for the rest of their lives.

Consequently, a teacher is a person whose main role is to mold a student’s life. It is up to them if they can change anyone’s life by being a committed and professional influencer with excellence and a great sense of leadership. To assist students with relevant information, they need to proceed in their lives. What’s more fun and trivial than having the worst teacher? What’s more fun and trivial in having me as a teacher five years from now?

Company’s Values

In my opinion, how Deloitte treats their employees in the way of making it fun and enjoyable to work, in other words, putting people first is the most important value to me. It will be an opportunity for me to grow both my personal and professional life while enjoying my work at the same time. Deloitte provides everything of a dream job for me includes corporate citizenship, inclusion as an international worker, well-being, leadership, benefits, learning and development environment, innovation and career opportunities. With all these supports, I will be happy and able to perform my best with high productivity. Furthermore, enjoyment and happiness will be retention for my loyalty to the company.

Culture Learning Plan

As a new employee of the company, I need to find out more about the culture to make me a good fit. Before physically arrives at the company myself, I will search for company reviews on Glassdoor for an overview, then do a research on the employee experience in LinkedIn and ask if “they would recommend working there and why, what types of people are most likely to succeed at the organization, and the best and worst things about the organizational culture” (Burke, 2015). When I set my foot in the office, I will take time to learn by looking around like how the office is displayed, “Do people look excited? Are they talking and collaborating? Does it look like the company is investing money in the facility?, Are there people at my age who I would enjoy working with?’ (Morgan, 2015). If I did not get a clear look about the culture, I would ask someone for examples of when the organization members came together to do some extraordinary, example of people who succeeded wildly within the boundaries of the organization, how the firm celebrates, is the firm’s directors are approachable, how big decision was made, etc. (Reh, 2019). In addition, I would love to hang out with other employees in leisure activities to get to know them deeper outside work as well as their relationships with other workers.

Related Behaviors

In order to be a great fit in the company, I will need to make sure that my behavior relates to the company’s culture, especially in the first six months of the job when the probation is probably landed. The following list is the important ways that I should interact with relevant stakeholders:
