This illustrates the importance of teamwork as essential for both the welfare and safety of all residents.

I have demonstrated these skills through weekly mentoring sessions at school to the younger years. My role was to encourage, support, and give students the confidence in tackling problems they may be facing with student life and social well-being. By actively listening and engaging to the specific needs of the students, I focused on exploring coping strategies to suit each student. For nurses, effective communication is fundamental to establishing a strong patient-nurse rapport subsequently increasing patient satisfaction and quality of care. As an HCA, I have gained invaluable insight into caring for individuals who are at their most vulnerable stage in life. Supporting residents with increasing comorbidities and their complex needs such as individuals with varying stages of dementia, Parkinsons’ disease, reduced mobility, and frailty. It became apparent to me that these health conditions had a significant impact on the individual’s quality of life and mental well-being. With time, I came to realize that the anger, anxiety, and low self-esteem residents displayed were an outward reflection of their inner frustrations battling with the loss of their ability to speak, eat, and mobilize independently.

Having an elder sister who suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke at age 18 has placed me in a better position to empathize with others and increase awareness of my own emotions. Furthermore, volunteering as a response volunteer at Watford General Hospital I witnessed the physical and emotional impact faced by healthcare staff during the first peak of COVID-19 cases. Dealing with COVID patients and their families has allowed me to develop the necessary resilience, temperament, and perseverance required within the nursing profession. I am keen to develop these attributes in my career with exposure to more patients and listening to their personal experiences whilst at the same time being aware of my feelings.

I have truly observed firsthand the determination, dedication, and professionalism it takes to be a nurse. From both personal experiences and knowledge acquired whilst, in my gap year, I have understood the fundamental skills and qualities that will allow me to thrive in this medical field and make a real difference to those in need. Report on My Internship in The Banking Industry

Throughout the summer 2019 semester, I got the opportunity to receive a Management Information System internship in one of the various well-known corporations in Viet Nam. The association I connected to being HongLeong Bank Vietnam (HLBVN). ‘The Bank is technology-focused and emphasizes the development of financial capabilities to serve its clients across Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, and China. Other than that, I got tasks from Finance and Direct Sales division. By taking the course Database Management System (ISQS 3348), I have learned how to design relational databases using Entity-Relationship (ER) models. Then, develop an SQL that manipulate relational databases and their data.

During my internship, I was utilizing Excel every day. This experience has helped me work quicker and learned various types of commands at work. The other programming I learned was SQL, and most of our financial data were copied from it. I believe that the knowledge I have gained from the Database Management System class was useful. Since it gave me a fundamental comprehension of what the code was about and where its data originated. Overall, I believe my knowledge of banking framework has enhanced a lot. Particularly in the Priority Banking office, I learned numerous things about monetary standards and the methods for directing cash stream in the Bank. My Potential for Internal Medicine Residency

The first time I took an interest in how medicine worked was when I helped my grandfather during an illness. He required hospital care, and I vividly recall walking through the doors the first time. Although I was still a high school student, I enrolled in basic anatomy courses at my local medical university to explore my interest; I knew right away that this was just the beginning of my studies. Now, as I prepare for residency, I am eager to join a cohesive team focused on improving patients’ quality of life.

During medical school I witnessed several automobile accidents. Each time, I stopped to help, providing acute care until the emergency technicians arrived. The sense of gratification and pride I felt during these experiences motivated me to study even harder in school. Jumping into disasters feet first also taught me how to think and act on my knowledge while remaining calm and composed. I hope to treat a diverse body of patients with a range of disease presentations to expand my knowledge base and clinical application. My goal is to be a respected internist, well-versed in making differentials with polished clinical skills. Internship Report on My Finance Experience

It is important for an individual to reflect and evaluate hisher performance after performing a task and it is also important for me to evaluate my performance during my internship. Reflecting on my internship experience and the skills learnt, I realize the weaknesses and strengths I had during my time at Care for Basotho Association. The weaknesses had a negative impact and the strengths had a positive impact on my overall performance.

I had a few weaknesses during my internship at CBA; one of the weaknesses was that I was afraid to communicate with the employees when I first arrived at the organization and that slowed down my work because I was too afraid of asking questions. Not asking questions delayed my learning process and I made mistakes because I just did work how I thought it must be done not according to the correct procedures. As weeks passed by, I managed to find confidence to ask when I came across something I had no idea how it is done.

Another weakness that I had was that my work was disorganized because I did not know how filing was done, both physically and in the system; lack of knowledge slowed down my productivity. In the first few weeks I would leave the documents piled up neatly in the locker but would not file them in their appropriate file holders. As a result, I struggled when I had to prepare the reports but I eventually learnt how to file from the finance officer and my work improved after that.

Though I had weaknesses, I also had strengths that enhanced the productivity of my work during the internship at CBA. One of the strengths I had is adaptability: adaptability refers to the ability to adjust to a different situation or environment. I found it easy to adapt to Care for Basotho Association’s work environment, that is, I managed to learn how tasks are completed within a short period of time and that enabled work to be completed faster.

Another strength I had is self-discipline: self-discipline refers to the ability of an individual to control, correct and motivate himherself as a means of improving work. With self-discipline, I managed to meet the deadlines and that meant I would even work on Saturdays or knock off late if I had to so the tasks could be completed on time. Another strength was positivity, I believed that I could manage all my tasks and overcome any obstacle related to my work at CBA.

In a nutshell, the internship programme at Care for Basotho Association has been exciting and rewarding opportunity for me because I got exposed to the finance related activities and the work environment. It became a stepping stone into the real world work life and I got a chance to apply the knowledge I grasped at Botho University. I managed to complete my internship report because of the knowledge, attitudes and experience I learnt from CBA. We all have that one story that motivated us to work in public service. For me, it was my grandparents. Most of them, with only basic education, worked hard for their children, and for us, their grandchildren, to experience the perks of years of hard work. This experience reinforced that well-prepared public officials and policymakers committed to their work are needed to continue working toward development. Months later, and with more political stability, working at the Ministry of Education, I had the privilege to visit remote schools in Peru that are beneficiaries of the new Rural School Networks policy, a priority set by the government to improve rural education. In learning outcomes in reading, only 16.5% of elementary school students reached the expected results – compared to 50.9% in urban schools. The Rural School Networks policy aims to close these gaps by assigning a principal to each network. This gives teachers a pedagogical and administrative leader that allows them to fulfill their teaching activities, reducing the administrative burden of schools. In the end, teachers can focus on improving the learning outcomes of students. One of the beneficiaries was the school No. 64474, located in the impoverished community of Huitoto de Estiron, in the Peruvian Amazon. To get there, I took a flight from Lima to Iquitos, followed by a six-hour ferry from Iquitos to Pebas through the Amazon River at dawn. From there to the community, two hours in a little boat called ‘peque-peque’ through the Ampiyacu River, exposed to the incinerating sun of the jungle and the unexpected rain. The community has one multi-level (1st to 6th grade) school and one principal-teacher who speaks Murui Muinani, a native language. No electricity, no health post. Just the school. This humble experience is a constant reminder that, despite some limitations, sometimes the government is the only entity that provides services to those in need living in the most remote areas of our country. Working for more than four years on the development of my country, I have understood that well-designed policies and proper implementation can have the desired impact. It is the arena where real change happens.

I want to be a leader in my government, and Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) is a key partner in developing my leadership skills and technical knowledge. Throughout the years, I have developed a solid network that will allow me to be hired back. Upon finishing my master’s degree, my goal is to return to the Ministry of Education, which has a strong network of HKS alumni. There, I want to assume a managerial position in the Directorate of School Quality Management. I am familiar with the different projects the division carries out and I believe in them, being the most important one the policy of rural school networks for improving education. I will be a key element in the improvement of learning outcomes in rural schools using the tools provided by HKS to address development issues. However, my biggest dream is to hold a ministerial position in the education sector, promoting the design and implementation of new inclusive and sustainable policies, relevant to our needs.

Finally, we can contribute to public service in endless ways, mine being through the government. Throughout the years I have seen the impact my work has had on citizens’ lives and I only want my impact to be bigger, helping citizens reach their potential. I feel proud to be part of the generation setting the ground for the development of my country and making better policies for everybody’s well-being. There are different types of nurses besides the baccalaureate nurse such as the licensed practical nurse. The licensed practical nurse holds the lowest industry licensure. According to (Treas&Wilkinson2018) LPNs are limited in scope of practice and frequently only have a year of education that covers the basic nursing skills required for essential patient care. Their role is to basically perform basic patient care while the RN perform more complex task. LPNs have shorter duration with less complex forms of training while the RNs have much more complex forms of training which also requires an extended period of time of education in order to earn their licensure. Licensed practical nurses usually have less assessment skills and technical skills when compared to the baccalaureate nurses. According to the Americans nurse association there skills include basic patient care, including bathing, vital sign monitoring on a regulate schedule in the facility, and communicating client information to the RN. On the other hand, their similarities include that fact that they also possess certain forms of basic training skills in nursing that are critical to those assessment skills needed to be an RN nurse.

How I Understood My Vocation to Be a Physician Assistant: Narrative Essay

I was in the middle of recess when I began to itch uncontrollably. Completely irritated by the intense itching, I decided to go to the nurse’s office. When the nurse lifted my selves, I saw the biggest bumps that resembled mosquito bites. My seven-year-old self was terrified, I thought I was dying. The nurse quickly called my mom who took me to my doctor’s office as the bumps continued to spread over my arms. None of the doctors at the office could see me on short notice so I had to see a physician assistant (PA). He immediately diagnosed me with chicken pox and prescribed me a medication that almost immediately made the itching dissipate. To this day, I still have no idea who gave me chicken pox, but I am grateful for that experience because it introduced me to a physician assistant.

Little did I know this was where my love for medicine and healthcare would begin. When I reached high school, I was fortunate enough to get accepted to my school’s medical technology program. This program put an extra emphasis on career exploration and had a partnership with Wagner College PA Program. Throughout my junior and senior years, I met several physician assistants that introduced me to their role in healthcare. I was surprised to learn about the flexibility that being a physician assistant offers. I loved the idea of this because it allowed the ability to provide excellent autonomous care to patients, work as an integral part of a team, and have the opportunity to work in different areas of medicine if desired. From that experience, I became intrigued by the PA profession.

My interest in the PA profession intensified after my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer and quickly passed away. When I heard her diagnosis, I was heartbroken. An ENT physician assistant who had helped her with her sinus issues suspected it. How is it that an ENT physician assistant was able to discover breast cancer? It was then that I remembered the in-depth training that physician assistants receive, which allowed them to recognize and treat illnesses of all different kinds. After her diagnosis, the same physician assistant that suspected cancer would touch base with her to see how she was doing and explain everything that she did not understand along the way. Because of her conscientiousness and compassion during this difficult time, I became certain I wanted to pursue my love of medicine as a physician assistant.

To learn as much as I can about becoming a physician assistant, I continued to explore the medical field throughout my undergraduate career and beyond. Through numerous hours of volunteering, shadowing, and working as a senior patient care associate in the oncology unit. I discovered how crucial compassion, communication, and teamwork are for efficient patient care. As a senior patient care associate, it’s my responsibility to take vital signs and assist patients with activities of daily living. Within this role, there have been numerous instances where a patient would express to me a symptom that they are experiencing. Although I would know what these symptoms could be linked to, it was not within my role to diagnose. This left me feeling unfulfilled and developed a yearning to further my knowledge in order to be able to do more. Unable to further explore or inform the patient of the condition, I would actively listen and then verbally communicate these symptoms with the practitioner. By doing so I was able to ensure that the patients still received the best quality care possible.

Every challenge and opportunity that I have faced since I was a little girl with chickenpox has led me to this decision. My grandmother’s passing has only made me more passionate about this profession. I believe I have a mission to care for patients beyond their initial concerns, the same way my grandmother did. I know the journey will be difficult and challenging, but with my love for learning, I am certain that I’ll gain the knowledge needed to become a valued physician assistant. I look forward to seeing how this opportunity will have a positive effect not only on my life but also on others.
