Pharmacist As A Career Choice

The career I chose is a Pharmacist. I chose this career, because I have dreamed of becoming one since I was in the seventh grade. I didn’t have my mind set on being a pharmacist, but I just kept it as an option. It wasn’t until my senior year in high school, when I was in my pharmacy technician class, that I confirmed that I wanted to be a pharmacist when I grow up.

“Pharmacists are highly trained medical professionals who fill prescriptions for patients and provide expert advice to those patients to make sure they are taking their medications appropriately in the right doses and in the correct combinations with other medications (Doyle). Pharmacists are responsible for filling prescriptions, counseling patients about new drugs they are taking, giving vaccinations to patients, consulting with doctors about prescription medications, working with insurance companies, maintaining and managing a retail pharmacy business. The pharmacy has a very fast paced work environment, and it is important that you can multitask and manage time properly.

In order to become a pharmacist, a doctorate of pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) is required in order to work. There are some Pharm.D. programs that require a bachelor, whereas others admit students with two years of undergraduate credits. Aspiring pharmacists need to have a strong foundation in chemistry, biology, and physics to do well and pass the PCAT, which is an admissions test to get into a pharmacy school. According to my Achieve WORKS report, I have skills like detail oriented, and communication skills. As a pharmacist, it is important to have good communication skills, analytical skills, be detail oriented, and be able to multitask.

The annual salary of a pharmacist ranges from $122,000-$154,000. The projected 10-year growth as of 2014 is 3%. “Job growth for pharmacists is projected at 6% for the decade ending in 2026” (Doyle). The needs for prescribed medications are expected to rise. The job growth for pharmacists will have a slight increase due to online pharmacy sales.

Every job comes with advantages and disadvantages whether you like them or not. The following are the advantages of being a pharmacist. You have the choice to work from home, there are many of available jobs as a pharmacist, the job outlook for pharmacists is increasing, although it takes years of hard work, you don’t need much time to start your store, and the job stability is high as a pharmacist with this profession. Some disadvantages of becoming a pharmacist include, education and requirements are lengthy and difficult, student loan is not cheap for pharmacy students, you are responsible for all your actions as a pharmacist, there is always competition with other pharmacies, pharmacists handle difficult problems all the time and have to be able to deflate the situation in order to provide good customer service, pharmacists stand for long period of time and sometimes don’t get breaks, you must always treat patients with care, even if you are personally facing a difficult situation.

The Level Of Influence Parents Have On The Career Choice Of Filipino Artists

Introduction

This chapter introduces the Background of the study, Statement of the problem, Theoretical Framework, Conceptual framework, Significance of the study, Scope and Limitations and Definition of terms. This Chapter will Contain

Background of the study

Not all artists pursue professions in the art industry because of their passion, and not all people in other industries choose their profession according to their passion.

Choosing a career has been a serious discussion when it comes to Parents influencing a child. According to Taylor et al (2004) some children choose careers that would please their parents. A tendency to this occurs when parents want their children to take similar careers as them or they want their children to achieve more than what they could have, resulting to children choosing a career not for their betterment but for their parents satisfaction. There have been numerous times that an adolescent has trouble on choosing a career that they like and that would please their parents as well, there are also instances that adolescents tend to rebel on their parents due to parents choosing their career for them.

Statement of the Problem

This Study aims to discover the level of influence the parents of artists have on their decisions on pursuing the career as an artist. Specifically, this study aims to answer the following questions:

  1. What is the level of parents’ influence to the chosen career of the artists?
  2. How positive does the parents’ artist impact the career choices of the artist?
  3. How negative does the parents’ artist impact the career choices of the artist?

Theoretical Framework

According to Anne Roe’s personality development theory, a parent may give an impact in terms of Career choices, It is said that the career of an individual can be an outcome of how they were raised as a child. This can be used as a guide on whether the impact of a parent is negative or positive. It is also said that there are three parent-child interactions that may be the sole reason on how they choose as an individual. The first one is that a parent being overprotective and/or over demanding can cause children to rebel and get pressured. The second one is emotional rejection of a child resulting negative impact from a parent and the last one casual or loving behavior of a child resulting from positive impact of a parent.

The Expectancy of parents in terms of their child’s achievements give a massive role to what career they want to pursue. In accordance to Eccles’ expectancy-value theory, there would be a domain a parent may place value on basing on the achievements their children make. These domains can be Academically inclined, Physically inclined or Artistically inclined. The word Expectation is not only focused on the future it also focuses on the present and the past. Present actions would have inclusion to what a parent might perceive in a Childs’ possible career path in which parents interpret in what they currently see their children achieving, resulting to the focus of parents being in one particular achievement their children have made. Past would be the beliefs, culture and tradition the parents have grown with.

Conceptual Framework

This study’s independent variable would be the parents’ impact on the career choice of current and becoming artists. The influence of parents affecting the career choice of artist- either the artist pursue art as a profession because it is his/her passion or an artist pursue art as a profession because of their parents.

Significance of the Study

The findings in this study may provide information to the community’s appreciation not only on the art itself but it will give understanding to what an artist think. This study will also tackle the influence of their parents in their career choice. Specifically, the following shall be beneficial:

  • ARTISTS. The findings in this study will not only be beneficial for the current artists of the Philippines, but also for the future artists that might struggle from the influence of their parents.
  • PARENTS. This paper may also benefit the parents of artists further understanding on how they influence the way their children think as an artist and on how they can improve their way of influencing their children.
  • FUTURE RESEARCHERS. This research may serve as a reference for future researchers who plan on improving the study, specifically researchers from the Bachelor of Arts program.

Scope and Limitations

This study will focus on different artists with different professions in the Philippines, This study will be limited to the views of an artist to how their parents affect their career choices, The researcher will be conducting an Interview to further broaden the claim that parents place a big role on the career choice an artist. The interview that will be conducted will only be limited to artist and career counselor(s) of the Philippines.

Definition of Terms

Artist A person who produces paintings, sculptures and any mediums in art, as a hobby or as a profession.

Career An occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person’s life and with opportunities for progress according to The Oxford English dictionary.

Parental Influence and Expectations

There are instances where parenting style influences their children. According to the findings of Sarwar, s. (2016) authoritarian parenting or permissive and neglecting parenting usually leads children to be delinquent. The parent-child relationship battles through a lot of misunderstanding especially because they are from far generations, this relationship can influence the decision making of children as they may either neglect their parents involvement or be forced to follow them .

Activity wise, in the free time of children especially on the adolescence stage. (Kumar and Arockiasamy, 2012) Parents are more cautious on what their children do on their free time. (Burak, 2014) In this parents tend to focus on what their children’s capacity on a specific activity and/or if they can excel in it as they grow up. If a parent may seem to dislike or disapproves something that their children are fond of it will either have a negative or positive effect, this is where the child improves more due to anger or sadness, turning into a stage of acceptance in the part of the child as time comes and they get older. As for Motivating a child into doing what they are passionate about, parents may be an instrument on the motivation of a child. The attitude of the child can develop in this making such big influences on their future decisions.(Barrioh, 2018)

According to the statistics shown by Araque, J. C., Wietstock, C., Cova, H. M., & Zepeda, S. (2017). There are positive results on the Latinno Parents knowledge and engagement to school activities and to the educational system. Parents make sure that they take up major subjects and that their children do their best in school, this makes an extortionate influence on how their children would perform on the school, the grades that they have and the extra-curricular activities that they uptake. There is a part in the study of Wiseman, 2011 that indicates “several students found that their families’ participation was a source of strength and support, some students did not have a relationship with their families that encouraged them to share the personal topics that they wrote about during the poetry workshop.” Those who received participation from their Families felt positive on their writings. Writing poems was a bridge to the students to their parents to be more involved in their likings.

Career Choice

It is true that not all artist have took up the field of arts as their career choice but that doesn’t remove their involvement in the Art industry. There will be a lot of factors that may change a child’s perception on being a full time artist. And a big part of it is how involved their parents are and the knowledge of parents in the career that their children would like to have. in the study of Zellweger, Seiger and Halter (2011) families with business backgrounds will have a tendency to have their children be the successors of the said business. Whether the Child may be artistically inclined, this might just be ignored by the parents since the mindset is that they need to pursue the family business.

In terms of inheritance of career there are still children who chose to partake their own careers rather than pursuing a career that is related to their parents. In the statistics that Goodale and Hall (1976) majority of sons in the family pursue the same career as their parents. A child may also choose a career basing on what they have achieved (Duncan, Featherman and Duncan,1972; Gordon, 1972; kerckhoff, 1974; Turner 1962) this is can be a way of someone to identify their possible careers, a childhood attainment that they excel in till present. According To the case study of Kemboi, Kindiki, and Misigo (2016) There are six personality types, Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional. They have used this to identify the distribution of the possible career choices in each degree in the Moi University in Kenya. Identifying the personality types would be helpful on choosing a career to pursue.

Being an Artist

In all forms of being an artist, some people still cannot accept that it is a profession chosen by people, ridiculing the career and the abilities of artists. In the concept of (Jary, 2002) the reality is that majority of the artists need to find other ways of income. There is a struggle in any career, but there is this stereotype that has stuck in the minds of filipinos that being an artist will not take you anywhere nor give you any income, another is that it is considered as a hobby and not as a career that someone can partake. And this stereotype needs to stop. The audience do not see the bigger picture in being an artist, art is inclined in mostly all of the things that they see and use in this world.

Being an artist is not limited for people who have taken courses in the art industry. There are lots of artist that do/have not partaken a course in the art industry in which we call self-learned artists. In the case study of Winkler and Denmead (2016) they have interviewed teaching artists. The artists were all considered artists even if there courses were not related to them, this only proves that even if you are partaking other professions, you can still be an artist.

Why I Want To Become An Engineer

At first ,instead of answering this question ‘Why I want to become an Engineer? ‘ I would like to tell you that I love this stream of engineering . I completely love this field of engineering and the journey I need to lead ahead to become an engineer. I went in the field of engineering because of my fondness to Maths and Physics. I wanted to learn more of it and also wanted some workplace where I can apply them. I feel like its completely the principles and rules surround me everywhere ,every time. And even they govern my path ,my daily life activities .These rules of

Mathematics and Physics are present everywhere and everytime. They are a kind of omnipresent in nature. One can notice this in one’s day to day life. An Engineer can apply and applies all the knowledge that he has learnt so far

It will be really challenging and exciting .As Donald Norman said ,’Scientists investigate that which already is present, Engineers create which has never been before’. Really this makes this stream of engineering very interesting .It is Science to describe Electromagnetic radiation ,but it is Engineering to build a radio, T.V or any electronic device. An engineer must use models provided by science combined with innovative thinking to solve problems and create new designs that benefit humanity. This process and the thought of striving for the goal by an engineer motivated me to select this path as I could make innovative things ,discover new ideas and completely engulf myself in the innovative world

Also the career in engineering is interesting and full of fun. We can learn new things, discover new ideas and explore new dimensions. It involves a life time of continuos learning to adapt to changes in society and natural world .As a human we can’t stop the process of learning .Learning is inevitable in anyone’s life .An Engineer is all about creating, developing a new idea, process, movement and even revolutionizing the new trends

As an Engineer one need not cramp oneself to certain conditions , boundaries , limits ,disciplines and many more. This engineering Often involves working in multi disciplinary, multi cultural , multi site teams. There are even many sub disciplines in this field of engineering . These sub -disciplines eed to co-ordinate among themselves to get the desired results.Take a Meachanical Engineer ,for instance he/she cannot work only in the work space which involves their stream Mechanical Engineering.He/she needs to co-ordinate with the other sream of engineers like Electrical Engineer(as he/she deals about all the electrical circuits and signals ).A machine on which a mechanical engineer works runs on the electricity. Also this working may depend on the type of the electric connection of the machine. So,there must be a perfect co-ordination between them to develop enlarge the scope of working of the machine.

Engineers can make exciting things and also make this world to be rousing. As they open the doors of new innovative and ingenious world.According to Samuel .C.Florman(1976),” Engineers work on exciting projects and how our world changes and improves ”

The amazing structures ,vehicles and discoveries in modern society have been influenced and created by engineers in some capacity.Yeah! this is really true Engineers have greatly influenced and shaped the modern society .Most of the parts of the society that we see today have been made by the engineers.Engineers take a larger role in design and innovation. The modern high sky scrapers that are becoming common these days, the smart phones we use in our daily lives and became an important part in our lives, the internet which now became one of the most necessities of the generation ,the Digital media which completely revolutionized the field of communication ,the computers which now became common every where and every place, the transplants which changed the standards of medical field to a greater extent and even the robots which are going to influence the upcoming future generations are some of the fruitful outcomes in which the engineers collaborated to a greater extent

According to Steve Jobs (Apple co-founder and former CEO)”Design is not how it looks like and feels like design is how it works”.This is exactly true with an engineer .An engineer endeavours all his efforts, ideas, thoughts and power to design to design new things. These new designs must be different from the old ones in look, working, components include in it.The process of development in any field or stream is always continuous. Developing of any discipline ,subject, process ,idea ,thought and any kind of stuff never comes to halt .As a common human we need to adapt ourselves to any new change or trend.Similarly as an engineer I have the responsibilty to set a new trend or revolutionize a process which is useful to the man kind.An engineer must also cope up with all the challenges that arise with the onset of new design .So an engineer must also be very very very good efficient in problem solving .he must be a very good problem solver. He /she is the one who doesn’t seek for problems but also must be the one who is always ready to face it and smash it.

As the new generation comes and establish themselves in this society, there also comes new variety of demands. These demands can be easily made to be settled if there occurs new changes in the current trends being followed which means thre must be the unleashment of advanced techniques, designs and processes

As Freeman Dyson(Theoretical physicist and Mathematician ) said-“A good scientist is a person with original ideas .A good engineer is a person who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible”.As Iam interested in to become an engineer I must come with the ideas and designs that are path breaking but these must be derived from the original set of ideas as possible. One cannot change the existing principles to create new ideas and designs .Infact, the principles that are existing now are the one that govern the complete working of the things that are present in the society.

Finally, I can emphasize that becoming an Engineer I may not enjoy my destiny.Because I’m not sure about my destiny .Destiny is not any pre described thing . It arises on how you strive for it.It mostly depends on how .It arises on how you strive for it.It mostly depends on how you lead your journey. Sometimes it comes to be even dynamic. It changes according to the situation and even the decisions taken by us ,movements or steps we lead in our path. So, I always love the journey I need to take to achieve an ace destiny. This journey involves hardships, heart breaks, many wonderful memories to restore in heart and mind, failures, sucesses and many more. Ultimately I greatly consider myself to be an engineer

Why I Want to Be an Engineer Essay

“The scientist discovers a new type of material or energy and the engineer discovers a new use for it.” This was given by Sir Gordon Lindsay Glegg, British engineer. The term engineer is derived from Latin word ingenium, meaning “cleverness” and ingeniare, meaning “to contrive, devise”. Word Engineer tells us how he/she can change the world. From childhood I was fascinated in logical thinking, application of basic scientific principles in our lifestyle. Engineers are the people who use the brain to apply their knowledge to come up with solution. Scientist discover new type of material, energy or pose new scientific law and come up with new theory. But Engineer uses this to come up solution for a problem. If scientists are the soul, then engineers are the body.

Engineering is the field that helps us in solving problems in world by inventing machines, applying fundamental to come up with a new idea. Often when I got chance, I use to take screwdriver remove all parts even though I was never able to put it together. Children are very much excited about their new toys but only lasts for maximum of a month, after that children start to open up their toys. Often, I had curiosity various technological elements and learning how they work. I think it helps me in evolving and doing things differently and uniquely. No matter what background of engineering we are studying, every background eventually has to work together. For example, we take machine, what materials we have to use and what should be the composition of materials whether it reacts with chemicals or products generated, Metallurgical and Chemical engineering come to place. For electrical components, circuits and for communication of the device with us we require the knowledge of Electrical, Electronics and Communication. For designing the machine and knowing the mechanics and coding we require the knowledge of Mechanical and Computer engineering.

As engineers keep on changing the world with inventions which affect everyone’s life. Being an engineer is fun because everyday we get to learn something new.

Engineer is always a student; unlike schooldays the books doesn’t define the syllabus. Engineer always needs himself/herself to be up to date because we don’t know with what idea we can come up with to solve one’s quest. Engineer always have urge to solve and help with people’s problem. No matter where we are, we always think and try to come with alternate solution. Engineer always have the chance/talent to change the face of world. Even engineer get to travel all across the globe and explore many places. Engineering doesn’t mean always to work hard.

But rather I think engineering is joyful. In this we never get bored. every field offers non-stop and ever-changing challenges. Every project is never the same so you always will have problems to solve. Engineering provides a very promising career. Engineer never have to worry a lot but instead they can focus more on their work. It also provides a very high-grade pay-scale. They never have to worry about their pay-scale. Instead we have to always try to improve our skills and keep on thinking. It provides plenty of career opportunities. It isn’t single field. There are many specializations can be pursued by us depending on our interest. Engineer are very well respected in society and also pride of doing something great also gives us the job satisfaction.

When I was child, I always used to dream to design cars, spaceships and rockets.

As I grew up my interest towards robotics and machines grew. I often found myself surfing in internet about latest unmanned vehicles, automation and also tried to attend as many tech fests possible. My father often used to take me to his exhibition where I used to see many innovative things. My father being an automation engineer, used to bring his work home and would try explain his work automation and designing part. Even though I hardly understood anything, I always liked what he uses to do. I can say that My Father might be the major reason why I choose engineering field. Most members of family are engineer majors. Engineering flows in our bloodline.

I always used to take part in various exhibition but never won one. I don’t know it didn’t demotivate me. In upper education I use to participate in NCSC (National Children Science Congress) and many times my group got selected to national round.

It is competition in which is quite similar what a engineer does. In this, we have to examine the problem, conduct surveys or examine the present day scenario and we have to put a theory or model for the problem. For theory or model, we use research in internet and do various experiments. We also used various devices for

analysing the problem which helps us to understand the problem fully helps us in recommending practical solution to the problem. In my higher education, I had presented a laser spirograph as my project which helps in creating moving hologram. Laser Spirograph is a device which uses principle of rotating motor with mirror fixed to axle and when laser light is projected on the mirror it creates particular pattern with single light source. In this we can create smaller hologram of person or object with one light source. Main principle is that rotating motor we used was around 150 rpm and so when light projected on mirror for infinitely small time, angle of refection changes which helps in moving light.

This project was made basic of optics along with higher level of integration. This is what engineers do. Engineers use basic and advanced level of subject to create machines and to solve the problem. This was also reason to become a engineer.

I always had a passion for maths and physics. They were my strength for JEE Advanced. I could easily use basic and advanced from different topics to find the solution for a problem. I enjoy myself to think out of the box and apply them in real world problems. It also excites me to pursue a professional career which will give many opportunities. Best thing of engineering is that it provides you many chances. Even if you fail, you will have as many tries you like. And I think I have that much of patience, logical skills and communication which are the major aspects of engineering.

In conclusion, I want to become a robotics engineer because my love for maths, physics and critical thinking and also logical thinking. My family, especially my father helped in growing my interest in automation. I think can easily mix basics and advance concepts and can analyse the problems, which helps in finding new methods to solve a problem. Most important of engineering is that we have to never worry whether we will fail or succeed in it. Famous Amercian Engineer, Henry Petroski said “Failure is central to engineering. Every single calculation that an engineer makes is a failure calculation. Successful engineering is all about understanding how things break or fail”.

An Essay on Preparing for a Career in the Computer Industry as a Computer Engineer

Since 1936, computers have been one of the most important machines ever created. Computers are the staple of society as they can do anything such as solving math problems to finding people the love of their lives. Computer engineering is a subpart of engineering that puts together the two fields of computer science and electronic engineering which are used to develop computer hardware and software. Computer engineers usually have training in electronic engineering, software design, and hardware-software integration instead of only software engineering or electronic engineering. The career of computer engineering is a very skillful job that requires a lot of knowledge but can pay very well. Computer engineers must be involved in all common hardware and software areas of the computer. This would include CPUs, processors, graphics cards, OS processing software, and circuitry. Computer engineering will also focus on how computers work but also how the human mind uses the computer and specific algorithms that will make computers easier to use. The common tasks for an engineer would be designing certain chips, circuit boards, and specific Linux operating systems. Computer engineers should also be fit for other computing processing like robotics which is based on internal and external system controls and digital system controls.

In most colleges and universities, computer engineer understudies are permitted to pick zones of inside and out the investigation in their lesser and senior year, in light of the fact that the full broadness of information utilized in the plan and utilization of PCs is past the extent of a college degree. Organizations may require building understudies to finish a couple of long periods of general designing before pronouncing computer engineering as their essential center.

Computer engineering started in 1939 when John Vincent Atanasoff and Clifford Berry started building up the world’s first electronic advanced PC through material science, arithmetic, and electrical design. John Vincent Atanasoff was previously a material science and arithmetic educator for Iowa State University and Clifford Berry’s previous alumni under electrical designing and physical science. Together, they made the Atanasoff-Berry PC, which was also called the ABC which took 5 years to finish. While the first ABC was disassembled and disposed of during the 1940s a tribute was made to the late creators, an imitation of the ABC was made in 1997 where it took a group of analysts and designers four years and $350,000 to assemble. The cutting-edge PC developed during the 1970s, after a few achievements in semiconductor innovation. The primary computer science certificate program in the United States was set up in 1971 at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, there were 250 PC building programs in the U.S. Computer building and electronic building programs incorporate simple and advanced circuit structures in their educational plans. Most will include, designing controls and having sound information on arithmetic and science is fundamental for computer engineers. Computer designing is alluded to as software engineering and building at certain colleges. Most section level PC designing occupations require at any rate a four-year certification in computer building. You may not think math is needed but to be successful you must become familiar with a variety of arithmetic, for example, analytics, polynomial math and trigonometry, and some software engineering classes. Equipment builds regularly work with computer programming frameworks, a solid foundation in code writing and computer programming is important. Indicated by BLS, “Computer engineering is like electrical building yet with some software engineering courses added to the educational program”. All enormous firms or concentrated occupations require a graduate degree. It is very significant for computer engineers to stay aware of quick advances in innovation to get ahead of the game. Along these lines, many keep learning all through their professions which can drag some people down. This can be useful though, particularly with regards to adapting new abilities or improving existing ones. For example, as the general expense of fixing a bug in software expands the further along it is in the product improvement cycle, there can be more prominent cost reserve funds ascribed to creating and testing for quality code at the earliest opportunity all the while, and especially before discharge.

There are two ways to stand out from the rest of the engineers and become even more successful in the field of computer engineering: equipment and programming. Computer work for computer equipment companies had a normal ten-year development from 2014 to 2024 with an expected 3% with a sum of 77,700 employments that equivalent year. This surprisingly went down from 7% for the 2012 to 2022 gauge. This is also surprisingly down from the 2012 to 2022 gauge of 22% for programming designers. Developing worries over cybersecurity means putting PC programming building high over the normal pace of increment for all fields. A portion of the work will be redistributed in remote nations. Because of this, work development won’t be as quick as during the most recent decade, as occupations that would have gone to PC programming engineers in the United States would rather go to programming engineers in nations, for example, India.

Computer engineering careers have greatly shot up over the past couple of years with a great spike in new technological advances are paving the way for easy access for anyone to boot up a computer and learn how to do it all. Google is the highest paying company in the computer engineering industry with employees earning an average of $124,000 per year, which is 21% higher than the average computer engineering salary in the United States. A senior engineer at Google can earn up to $285,000 or more. The average salary of computer engineers in the United States is $102,450 per year, which is 106% higher than the average U.S. salary. The latest research found that new college graduates can earn an average salary range of $61,000 to $76,000 per year. Most computer engineers have tremendous job security compared to other professions. Computer engineering jobs have been on an increasing spike for the last 20 years and there is no stopping anytime soon. The job growth anticipated for software developers is 24% over the next ten years. Information security analyst positions should grow by about 28%. Of course, there won’t be the same type of demand for all computer engineering positions like web design which will stay at the same average pace. One huge perk of being a computer engineer is that anyone with a track record as a computer engineer can basically choose to live wherever he wants, within some limits. Silicon Valley is a great choice for anyone with a taste for the California lifestyle. Most large companies have their own on-staff engineers managing their computer networks and databases. If you really enjoy traveling though, you may want to consider a different career such as a consultant, with a specialized skill, such as information security. These consultants help companies ensure that their data is protected from cyberattacks. You can literally fly in, work for a company for a few months, and then fly off to another destination when the project is done.

Now this career might seem like it’s for you but remember like most professions, computer engineering isn’t a career that everyone will like, and it does have its drawbacks. If you don’t enjoy learning, and keeping your skills up-to-date, for example, then an environment in which constant innovation is a constant, would not be a benefit at all. The jobs are often quite boring, requiring you to sit at a desk for several hours at a time. However, if you believe the pros outweigh the cons, then this is likely a great career choice for you.

A Look at Modern Computer Programming

Computer programming is the way toward planning and building an executable PC program for achieving a particular processing task. Programming includes assignments, for example, examination, creating calculations, profiling calculations’ exactness and asset utilization, and the usage of calculations in a picked programming language (generally alluded to as coding). The source code of a program is written in at least one dialect that are comprehensible to developers, as opposed to machine code, which is legitimately executed by the focal preparing unit. The motivation behind writing computer programs is to discover an arrangement of guidelines that will mechanize the exhibition of an undertaking (which can be as perplexing as a working framework) on a PC, frequently for taking care of a given issue. The way toward programming along these lines frequently requires ability in a few distinct subjects, including information on the application area, particular calculations, and formal rationale.

The History of Programming

The historical backdrop of programming dialects ranges from documentation of early mechanical PCs to present day apparatuses for programming advancement. Early programming dialects were exceptionally specific, depending on numerical documentation and comparatively cloud punctuation. Throughout the twentieth century, research on the compiler hypothesis has led to the creation of high-level programming dialects that use an increasingly accessible sentence structure to indicate directions. The main elevated level programming language was Plankalkül, made by Konrad Zuse somewhere in the range of 1942 and 1945. The principal significant level language to have a related compiler was made by Corrado Böhm in 1951, for his PhD proposition. The primary industrially accessible language was FORTRAN (Equation Interpretation), created in 1956 (first manual showed up in 1956, yet first created in 1954) by a group drove by John Backus at IBM.

Early Programming History

During 1842–1849 Ada Lovelace deciphered the diary of Italian mathematician Luigi Menabrea about Charles Babbage’s most current proposed machine: the Systematic Motor. She enhanced the journal, noting that the predetermined in detail strategy for establishing Bernoulli numbers with a motor is perceived by some historians as a computer program originally distributed in the world. The main PC codes were specific for their applications: e.g., Alonzo Church had the option to express the lambda analytics in an equation-based way and the Turing machine was a reflection of the activity of a tape-stamping machine. To certain individuals, some level of expressive power and human-comprehensibility is required before the status of ‘programming language’ is allowed.

First Programming Languages

the 1940s, the principal conspicuously present day electrically fueled PCs were made. The constrained speed and memory limit constrained software engineers to compose hand tuned low level computing construct programs. It was in the long run understood that programming in low level computing construct required a lot of scholarly exertion. An early proposition for a significant level programming language was Plankalkül, created by Konrad Zuse for his Z1 PC somewhere in the range of 1943 and 1945 yet not executed at the time. The principal working programming dialects intended to convey guidelines to a PC were written in the mid-1950s. John Mauchly’s Short Code, proposed in 1949, was one of the primary elevated level dialects at any point created for an electronic PC. Dissimilar to machine code, Short Code articulations spoke to numerical articulations in reasonable structure. Nonetheless, the program must be converted into machine code each time it ran, making the procedure much slower than running the identical machine code. In the mid-1950s, Alick Glennie created Autocode, perhaps the first aggregated programming language, at the College of Manchester. In 1954, a second emphasis of the language, known as the ‘Imprint 1 Autocode,’ was created for the Imprint 1 by R. A. Brooker. Brooker additionally built up an autocode for the Ferranti Mercury during the 1950s related to the College of Manchester. The variant for the EDSAC 2 was concocted by Douglas Hartree of College of Cambridge Scientific Research facility in 1961. Known as EDSAC 2 Autocode, it was a straight improvement from Mercury Autocode adjusted for nearby conditions and was noted for its article code enhancement and source-language diagnostics which were progressed for the time. A contemporary however separate string of improvement, the Autocode Chart book was produced for the College of Manchester Map book.

Why to Choose Programming

One of the absolute best motivations to turn into a software engineer is the abundance of occupations out there. Furthermore, in light of the fact that we are an inexorably innovatively dependent society it is likewise clear that there will be occupations in the programming division for quite a while to come. As different enterprises decay and stop to be, customizing is developing and venturing into practically all everyday issues. With the aptitudes and information, you gain from considering programming, you will have the option to assemble pretty much anything! Your imagination truly is your farthest point. Regardless of whether you need to assemble a program that will help you rapidly and effectively rename and sort 5,000 recently downloaded photographs from your abroad occasion, or you need to make a program that will monitor your accounts, as a developer, you will have the option to do it. Writing computer programs is additionally a business person’s absolute best companion. Envision taking your business thoughts and making a site or an application that will push you to make them a reality, however showcase them also You can utilize your programming aptitudes to commend the work that you as of now do, or to pursue an energy. For example, on the off chance that you are a bookkeeper, you could compose a bookkeeping program that would make dissecting accounts a lot simpler. Or, on the other hand, if you have an enthusiasm for writing and need to write a novel, you can create a program that will make your novel intuitive, including an extra dimension for your readers. After you’ve been in the business for a while, settled in, and earned a solid reputation, you may decide to work independently and work for yourself. Envision having the option to single out what occupations you need! Building extraordinary projects and associations with customers will likewise set up you as somebody organizations may scout for employments, so you could have the chance to filter out the jobs that you truly need.

Why I Chose Programming

I appreciate critical thinking – both on a miniaturized scale and large scale. Programming includes plentiful measures of both. Making sense of the most productive approach to execute a component or finding a bug in existing code are instances of little scale issues that developers understand. Making sense of programming answers for issues like sea tempest calamity help coordination, individual accounting, or venture financing are instances of the bigger scale. Whatever task I end up taking a shot at, it ends up having fascinating difficulties.

I appreciate making. Writing computer programs is superb for this current: it’s a medium that, in contrast to numerous others, enables me to make something from nothing. I’m not restricted to physical limitations; in the event that I can envision it, I can make it (with enough idea and exertion). Programming lets me make things that tie into an incredible remainder and improve it, regardless of whether for entertainment only (for example add-ons for a game), efficiency (state, robotizing parts of my every day schedule), or benefit (work, displaying my own accounts, and whatnot).

It’s a profession. It’s a zone that has a great deal of interest and likely will keep on being sought after for a long time to come. Accordingly, it’s likewise a zone that pays well. This contributes to my pleasure in programming. While I don’t will in general be trivial with my accounts, having a strong salary makes remaining operating at a profit much easier, and enables me to spare and contribute for the future, regardless of whether that be great occasions or terrible. As somebody who in the long run intends to bring up at any rate one kid, I feel a commitment to help make that kid’s money related future sensibly secure.

Regardless of my complains about certain zones, the tech business has gotten one of the better and increasingly dynamic ventures in a considerable lot of the territories where it is important. My manager’s medicinal services benefits are stunning. Adaptable calendars, liberal parental leave strategies, and other such advantages are ordinary. Of course, there are some rotten ones, however request is sufficiently high you can as a rule look around. Having this sort of workplace and social help structure improves my general personal satisfaction.

III. Internship Activities:

During the internship period, I had been assigned to work in the HR department of the company, most of the tasks I have been offered were to learn about the new management software (HRM) and upload employee information into the new software for the company. Also, as a result of the reorganizing of the company’s structure, the corporation has created a new HRM application for all of the members, so it will help to create and change the way of using the employee tracking system more efficiently.

1. About the HR division:

The main missions of the HR division are to ensure labor and personnel activities of provincial telecommunications; to carry out the procedures of organizational structure and personnel organization; In charge of salary, bonus, welfare, safety and hygiene, and labor protection; Educate, train and Building organizational culture; Carry out other tasks as assigned by the leaders of the department and board of directors.

2. Introduction to the new VNPT-HRM software:

VNPT HRM helps businesses solve the difficulties in managing personnel salary:

  • Day off
  • Contracts
  • Timekeeping
  • Paycheck

c) Detailed information:

  • Public information
  • Personal information
  • Other information
  • Insurance information
  • Salary information

Besides, I had to ensure background and reference checks are completed, and assisted the manager in updating and maintaining employment status and similar records, by that I can learn more about the company’s motivational mechanisms, salary management, insurance, and compensation

4. Performance Evaluation:

In general, the total number of employees at VNPT is 207, of which the total number of employees in the Human Resources Department is 7 and the number of managers in the HR department is 1. Taking the total number of employees in the HR department divided by the total number of employees in the company, we found that the result was less than 10%. From this, we can deduce that the performance of the HR department is very high and effective.

Specifically, in the human resources department, each employee has the following tasks:

  • 1 employee in charge of personnel management, social security, salary, welfare, etc.
  • 1 employee in charge of revenue management, cost, motivating mechanism, etc.
  • 1 employee in charge of general management
  • 1 employee in charge of collaborative management and training
  • 3 office assistants: 2 drivers, 1-word processing officer

Hence, we can see that the number of staff in the HR department is small but each employee is in charge of a huge workload with high productivity (note that the total labor force at the company is 207 with a turnover of 727 billion VND in 2017).

In addition to the positive aspects such as the professional working environment, and the friendly and qualified staff at the company, I realize that some problems should be mentioned as follows: the company was lack motivation and inspiration for employees which unintentionally created the state of being difficult and pressured at work. However, most of the staff in the company always have a positive working attitude which usually helped me adapt to the working environment easier so that I could be able to feel more comfortable at work.

IV. Internship assessment:

· What skills and qualifications do you think you have gained from the internship?

During my time at the company, I realize that I have learned a lot of things throughout the internship activities. In addition to a professional environment, friendly people, and qualified employees, I have earned a lot of benefits and was able to communicate better with other people.

The first thing I have gained is that my time management skills have improved significantly, I can clearly plan what needs to be done in a day, so I know how to organize my work more appropriately and accurately corresponding to the specified timetable.

Furthermore, my computer skills have been enhanced and I have been able to use more proficiency in both Word and excel to get things done. Besides, I can be able to adapt my flexibility and change to every situation in the company, so it will help me to adjust the stress and think slowly to turn stress into a dynamic force to complete the internship, thereby reducing some of the pressure at work.

Moreover, for most of my time at the company, I learned a lot from other employees, they gave me some advice and helped me a lot at work. They also showed me where my strengths and weaknesses were to help me enhance myself more, by that I can improve my knowledge, and my teamwork skills and collaborate better with other people.

Because my daily tasks were usually to deal with the data and documents, I often had to record the file, edit employees’ profiles, and screen this information into appropriate HR software, therefore I find that my research skills becoming better day by day. Although I am not perfect in that skills, I still see it as a good way to learn new things and expand my skills more in the future.

· What kind of responsibilities you have undertaken during the internship period?

My primary responsibility during the internship is to ensure the information privacy of each employee in the company. Because of the nature of the work, I have to deal with many types of employee documents which include personal and public information about the company. Besides, I have an obligation to organize the file, sort these resumes, and log them into appropriate tracking spreadsheets. I also supervise the progress, and deadlines and pay attention to reminders for each small project. In addition, I have to check and make sure the information of employees in the company will fit with each self-declaration record to upload them into the HRM software and save these processes when I have been asked to check again.

· How do you think the internship will influence your future career plans?

Being assigned to intern in the Human Resources Department of VNPT Dong Thap has provided me with a better knowledge of this sector. Besides, I found that I gained a lot of experience during the internship such as file arrangement, software management, timekeeper management, BC, etc. Thanks to that I know how to deal with real-life work, how to adjust to the working environment, and how to adapt to a new workplace. By that, it can help me to improve better for my future job, enhance my working experience, and familiarize myself more with the future relevant job.

· How do you think the internship activities that you carried out are correlated with your classroom knowledge?

Throughout the internship duration, I found that after reviewing the learning process at school, I think that although some courses in university do not relate to real-life work, it still prepared me with a foundation knowledge for my work in the future, that I can quickly determine what need to be learned and how to handle the job. Moreover, by working in this company, I can gain a better understanding and useful knowledge of the role that Human Resources play in reality and can be better prepared to work in the arena of the human resources sector.

V. Conclusion:

Overall, I completed my internship at VNPT Dong Thap successfully. Having a chance to intern at VNPT Dong Thap helps me to enhance my skills and improve my knowledge. Moreover, it does not only help me to learn a lot from normal office life but also gain more practical skills. During my internship period, I realize that observation is the main element that helps me to catch up with each problem and develop my skills more for my future job. Besides, I also have a good time working with many fantastic people in the company. On the first day, I felt that I had no idea where to start and I did not know how to do properly with each task assigned, they helped me to solve my weaknesses and provided advice for each of my tasks whenever I am in need.

Additionally, being able to work in a professional environment has helped me to learn more about the human resource sector, be more responsible at work, and gain more experiences for the future. But most importantly, my Internship at VNPT Dong Thap has given me a better understanding of the HR career and make connections with great people. I am very grateful and thankful to my supervisor – To Thi Bach Yen and all of the staff in the HR Department had given me this opportunity to work in this company and completed my internship. Although 2-months is not a long time for me to learn in detail about this sector, it still made my internship a superb experience.

Career Interest in Computer Programming

When I get older, I want to be a computer programmer. I have no idea what I’d want to specialize in but I’d use it to express my creativity. Back in 5th grade, I used to be good at programming as it was my main hobby and I made multiple programs, including games and pointless applications. The world inside computers interests me because I have been a creative person my whole life, and there are unlimited things you can do with a computer. This could be a way to get my ideas out that I have had stored in my brain for the longest time. Also, if I did do this when I got older it would be a balance of business and a hobby. Even though it is your ideas, you still must make what people want you to make, which can be hard. It’s not just something I have to go to school for, I can start learning it now.

The person I interviewed was Matt Peck. He started learning how to program by going to a one-day seminar at a local community college. He works for Lara Consulting Group, as said in the interview. This company specializes in making websites for companies that need them. The company will give Lara the idea for their website, and they will make it. The company can update their website at any time. They are based out of Seattle, Washington. They made the website for the company who makes the New Year’s Eve ball in New York City.

Matt got into the computer industry making websites because he thought that it was the future of communication, and he thought that everyone would be using it in the future, and he was correct. He specializes in HTML, JavaScript, and UNIX, which are all different types of computer languages that run the programs you use every day. A typical day was just working the whole day. A couple of breaks here and there, but overall, a lot of work.

Math is used in computer programming many ways, and there is more geometry incorporated into just the aspect of making websites than anything else. You must understand coordinates because when you’re making websites, in this case, you must understand how to equally proportion everything and where to place everything. One small mistake would ruin the whole program in its entirety. When working on making websites, there is a lot of work with arrays and building formulas. There’s also a lot of binary code, consisting of 0s and 1s, which could be hard to wrap your mind around. All this math goes into one type of computer programming. There are many other occupations in this industry, and they all have different types of math incorporated into designing the programs.

I am not that experienced in this topic at this moment, but I plan to learn about it more in the future. There is a whole world of resources online, and with more tech spots opening in the industry, kids are encouraged to learn about programming more and more. I learned that you don’t have to specialize in just one thing. There are many types of jobs in the industry in the industry from web design all the way to making video games, but this is a hard job. You need many years of training or experience to become a pro. Companies like Facebook and Google didn’t blow up overnight! With all this said, I’ll try to learn more about it this summer, and learn a new hobby while I’m at it.

Human resources were not managed to their optimum level which leads frustration among the staffs. Rather than concentrating on their work people were found gossiping around regarding each other on a group.
  • High turnover. Internee observed high turnover at Citizens’ bank. Mostly turnover was seen high at the entry level i.e. Trainee assistant level. Due to various reasons like low pay, facility, working conditions, etc. turnover was seen high in the bank.
  • Nepotism and Favoritism. Nepotism and favoritism which is considered as unprofessional behaviors in work life existed in Citizens’ bank. If someone has their family members, friends, relatives in higher position, they used to get quick promotion and placements in good departments like finance, credit department regardless of their performance and score. This kind of culture used to upset/demotivate other hard working employees.
  • Poor CCTV camera. The quality of CCTV camera was so poor. Every time when there was cash short in teller, we have to go through whole recording of CCTV coverage in order to find out the customer who gets more cash than actual. At this point of time, it was difficult for us to find the fault due to poor quality recording of CCTV camera.

Since only one staff looks after ATM problem and if she/ he get busy in other activities then the customers have to wait for long hours. So, two or three staffs should be assigned to perform the ATM related tasks so that any problems regarding ATM can be solved in a minute. There were only three staffs in Customer Service Department and few interns. As this department has a lot of work to do so customers have to wait and the staffs and interns have to accomplish the tasks at pressure. So, the staffs from other department should be assigned to the CSD. Working conditions, pay level should also be in line with the other similar organizations so that turnover can be reduced to a noticeable manner. Staffs should be provided with better motivation and perks so that they are more dedicated to their works. Promotions and job rotation should be done fairly on the basis of employees’ performance. They should attach high definition CCTV camera in the teller. Bank should try to attract more fixed depositors rather than current and saving depositors so that it can make long term investments and lending. The speed of delivering service should be increased, providing needy services promptly. If the bank increases its promotional and marketing activities, it can create more customer attraction towards the bank. It will further help the bank to enhance its image and increase its degree of success in the context of today’s competitive banking industry.

Child Abuse: Statement of Interest

Discuss the reasons which led to your choice of social work as a career.

I have been asked so many times why I chose social work and the answer is quite simple the reason Why I want to join social work is because of my passion to help people. In retrospect, I think social work too. I often wonder what career I would be choosing if I hadn’t gone through the pain and sad experiences in life. My own personal background would make me an effective helping person. I grew up in Ethiopia in a single-family household, I and my five siblings were raised by my mother. My father left when I was four and I wasn’t old enough to understand what happened nor mature enough to realize how much it hurt to not have my father in my life. My mother and older siblings worked so that the younger siblings could grow up not worrying about where the next meal would come from. As I become older I started to become more interested in social work, but my family was adamant that I has to study nursing. To appease my family’s wishes I decided to ignore my burning desire to study social work and went with nursing. I didn’t go further in my nursing major because I knew since I was in middle school that I wanted to help people however way I can, I was an advocate for every student who didn’t have a voice and would often get in trouble because of this. Secondly, are the three premises on which social work is based. Which are very straightforward. First is that the person or group is important. The person or group has a problem that may arise from many different factors, and lastly finding a solution to help solve those problems so that person or group can live a better life. Finally, is the range of opportunities for a social worker in the field of social work. Social workers can be found in hospitals, schools, community health agencies, and international organizations just to name a few. My passion continued and strengthened as I started to see how my contributions were able to benefit people’s circumstances around me. I first realized this from an interpersonal point as friends and family would also come to me for guidance or for me to lend an ear and offer better solace to their hardships. I paid attention to them in a sincere and non-judgmental way, no matter how trivial, horrendous, peculiar, or prevalent the tale was.

Describe and explain how past experiences have encouraged or developed your interest in a social work career.

Prior to my residency in the United States of America, I use to live in one of the developing counties of Africa Ethiopia. Growing up in a single-family household with 5 siblings was a very surreal experience. My father left when I was very young and all the responsibilities fall on my mother and older siblings, they had to work whatever job they could find so that we wouldn’t go to sleep famished. As life started getting even worse than it was my older siblings one by one left home for better opportunities, my mother followed their steps and with a heavy heart left me with relatives and went to start the journey to America. I was 11 when my mother left but life had stolen my childhood and forced me to become mature. Months went by and I was still living with my distant relatives, I would notice different men come and go but I was never comfortable asking who they were or why they were coming by. One evening as I was preparing dinner, a guy I have never seen before was standing behind me blocking the doorway my heart sank in my heart I tried to excuse myself but he wouldn’t let me. He cornered me and molested me and that went to continue for a year. every night I would go to sleep crying wishing against all odds my mother would swoop me away from the pain and anguish that was in my heart. I remember to this day the vow I made to myself that I would never let any child be in a predicament as I was in. I would grow up and be a guardian angel to children who are forced to quit their voices. I want to help bring individuals who take advantage of the weak to justice.

Describe the contribution you believe you can make to the social work profession.

My own personal background would make me an effective helping person. I know how it feels to be afraid to trust people and be afraid to talk about being molested. I believe that children who have been abused and neglected find it difficult to trust people. I believe that having the same background I can help children who are being abused. My personal strength that I posse is the willingness to help others unconditionally. My experience has taught me how to be non-judgmental, how to demonstrate empathy, and how my improbable journey can inspire others. I also understand the importance of volunteering to help improve my community and neighborhood. I currently volunteer at a place that helps pregnant mothers get all the material assistance that they need for their babies. I work with Ethiopian and Eritrean communities who aren’t using the resources that are available to them because they can’t communicate efficiently in English. Volunteering is one of my most rewarding experiences for me and it gives me an opportunity to help my community as well as gain skills to better help others. With my experiences during my undergraduate studies and currently, I know that social work as a profession is ideal for me.

Discuss one social problem or issue that is important to you and fully demonstrate how you would like to contribute to addressing the issue or problem.

Social issues have plagued the life of too many people while there are many social issues in this world the social issue that I would like to contribute to address is child abuse. Abuse of children is the unfair treatment of children. It may be in the nature of emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. Child negligence is also known as abuse of children. It is possible that kids who are neglected will have both psychological and developmental problems. Physical abuse can progress to a death of a child in some extreme instances. Day by day, child abuse and neglect endanger the security and health of some kids around the world. I would address this social issue by raising public awareness of the pervasive and serious nature of child abuse. In their environment, children connect with a variety of people who play an important function in their growth. This needs to be acknowledged and substantial funding and human resources are needed to be mobilized to tackle the issue. A community that understands child abuse’s extreme and omnipresent nature should be a key advocate for necessary changes.
