Create your own Contemporary Art! Use photography or Video as your main media.
Choose an issue that’s is currently going on. Something between 2020- now. So it has to be very contemporary! It can be something that is taking place anywhere in this world. It can be Social, Economics, Health, Racial, Political, Gender, etc.
Create a piece of art that uses a camera (you may use additional media also) to take a photo or make a video that makes a commentary about the topic you choose. You should be able to analyze it.
Part 1
About the Issue
Find a good article from a good source that has written about this topic or sub-topic. Provide it as a link for yours and our reference.
Write a few sentences talking about this issue and what it means to you.
Part 2
It is very important that you read your chapters before you do this so you would see several examples of this type of artwork.
Create your art. Two ways of doing this–
FIND THE SCENE: You may take a picture or make a video of something that exists that will exemplify the issue and your ideas on the issue. For example, maybe it’s a scene of what your neighborhood is like and how it’s effected by current politics. NOT ALLOWED: other’s artwork like murals, etc.
CREATE THE SCENE: Create the scene yourself using a location, characters, props etc and then take a picture or make a video.
Make sure you use elements and principles of art to create a great piece!
Use photography or video- you can also edit.
Your work MUST be ORIGINAL.
Part 3
About your art.
Analyze your art. Use chapter 1.10 to write a small paragraph about your work. Include formal analysis, and a few others that you find important. Bold vocabulary words.

In this class, we have examined work with various ritual and religious functions. In numerous European Christian churches, we have explored architecture and decoration (such as frescos). This week, we read about Islamic, Hindu, and Buddhist art and architecture from South and Southeast Asia, China, Korea, and Japan.
What differences can you observe between the religious art and architecture between religions?
These can be differences in terms of function or design.
What similarities do you observe?
Do any of these similarities surprise you?
