Airport Security
There are many incredible stories that came out of the tragedy of September 11, 2001. In this class, we are currently studying CM Module 3 which is partly about Airport Security. This module highlights the events of 9/11 as well as the changes that have taken place in Airport Security since that day.
For this assignment, I want you to spend some time researching the events of September 11, 2001, and write the story of the individual that interests you. I am not limiting this assignment to people on board American Flight 11, 77, or United 175 or 93, although feel free to write about an individual from one of those flights if you find it to be of interest. You may write about an individual from the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, or any other related location or situation if it directly relates to the events of 9/11.
In 2500 words you need to do the following:
Give the context of the situation of the individual you choose, e.g., where were they? what was their background; their story? I expect you to go as in-depth as you possibly can in telling the story of the individual about whom you choose to write. Thoroughly describe this individual’s role in the events of 9/11.
In a final paragraph, you need to clearly detail how airport security failed and what changes occurred in Airport Security because of September 11, 2001.
The minimum word count should be 2000 words and a maximum of 2500 words. The paper should be written in APA 7 and include a cover page, an abstract, and a complete reference page.
*****Assignment #1*****
In his lab at Penn, Vijay Kumar and his team build flying quadrotors, small, agile robots that swarm, sense each other, and form ad hoc teams—for construction, surveying disasters, and far more” (TED, 2012).
This video provides an excellent description of how small quadrotor Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAV) fly and maneuver. In addition, it describes several applications for small UAVs and the way nature contributed to the development of swarming UAV formations. It also shows a comparison of large military UAVs and small agile UAVs that can be purchased off the shelf.
Instructions
For this assignment, you will watch the YouTube video and then write a 2-3 page essay (not including the Title and Reference pages) answering the Short Answer Questions and Activity Essay questions. A writing assignment student example is provided below for you to use.

Describe what element in nature is the example used to develop multiple UAV swarming formations.
Please proceed to the Activity Essay section.
Activity Essay
Different robotic Uncrewed Aircraft Systems elements are shown and described in this video. What do you think is the most important element (algorithms, sensors, payload delivery, size, onboard control, etc.) of these systems? Justify your selection in one to two paragraphs (minimum 200 words).
******Assignment 2*****
In this activity, you will research and discuss a particular remote sensing application with uncrewed systems (precision agriculture, search-and-rescue, firefighting, mapping, etc.). Ideally, the resource referenced will be no more than 12 months old and will be from a peer-reviewed journal. For assistance finding a peer-reviewed resource, watch How to Find Print and Online Journals (1:57/Vimeo).Links to an external site Please address the prompts below about both the platform and the sensor, and include any additional information you found interesting or insightful:
Platform Describe the uncrewed system platform.
Describe the operational requirements for the platform to facilitate this mission.
Describe any operational limitations or considerations (wind, altitude, sea states, speed ranges, etc.), and if any alternative uncrewed systems could serve as an effective platform for this sensing mission.
Describe how this mission is better facilitated by an uncrewed system over traditional methods (crewed aircraft, crane, climbers, satellites, etc.).
Sensor Describe the sensor used and performance specifications (range, field-of-view, spectrum, etc.).
Describe the data the sensor provides and how the data is processed and evaluated.
Describe any operational limitations one should consider for this sensor type for this mission.
Select a different sensor type and consider if this alternate sensor could also perform the same mission effectively or what alternative operational limitations might be encountered.
It is recommended that you make your original post no later than the fourth day of the module week. In addition, reply to two of your classmates’ posts. Consider their response and add your thoughts on the abilities of their discussed UAS to complete the tasks that they have described. Are there other operational parameters they might have considered? Are there other capabilities/limitations that you would consider?
This question has 3 assignment.

Part 2 of your Class Project is due. Please refer to 1.5 Information: Class Project Requirements.
Your paper will automatically be evaluated through Turnitin when you submit your assignment in this activity. Turnitin is a service that checks your work for improper citation or potential plagiarism by comparing it against a database of web pages, student papers, and articles from academic books and publications. Ensure that your work is entirely your own and that you have not plagiarized any material!
Save your assignment using a naming convention that includes your first and last name and the activity number (or description). Do not add punctuation or special characters.
During this course, you will complete two writing assignments that will make up the class project. Each assignment will consist of a 2-3 page paper (not including the title page and reference page) that is grammatically sound, free of spelling errors, and formatted according to the current APA edition. Support your conclusions with a minimum of three references. At least two of your references should be articles retrieved from the Hunt Library Research Database.Links to an external site. You can use any other research database for additional sources. Be sure to use current APA format for citations and references. Refer to the evaluation rubric within each assignment for grading guidelines. Your papers will be submitted to the plagiarism detection tool Turnitin.
*****The second part of the project will build upon your efforts during Part 1 by developing an aircraft inspection, procedural step, change in regulation, or program strategy that could have prevented the accident from occurring. As you conduct your research for Part 2 of the project, consider the importance of an aviation maintenance technician during the inspection process and what role they can play in preventing accidents from happening in the future. Be sure to include any conclusions or recommendations you may have that could mitigate future failures. Part 2 of this project will be submitted during Module 8.*****
*********Assignment 2*********(Due Sunday, 3 Mar 24)
For this discussion activity, you will be given the opportunity to apply this module’s objectives to your Project. Post Parts 1 and 2 of your Course Project into the discussion thread. Then, in two to three short, concise paragraphs, review and address FAR AC 43.13-1B as it pertains to the inspection, procedural steps, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of your incident that could have prevented the accident from occurring
*********Assignment 3*********
In this module, you learned about cabin control systems (including aircraft oxygen, pressurization, and air conditioning control systems) and how they affect human physiology (physical and mental impacts on pilots and passengers). Remember, Earth’s atmosphere is composed principally of 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen. As altitude increases, the number of atmospheric gases decreases to a point where human life is no longer sustainable. The development of pressurized aircraft allows humans to travel well beyond what they would be able to without pressurization.
For this discussion, research and discuss an aviation accident or incident where one of the aircraft systems we have studied in this module has adversely affected human physiology. Describe how and why this occurred, focusing on the system and its impact on human physiology. Personal experiences and/or examples from your own life are acceptable.
Include at least two in-text citations from the course material(s) and/or appropriate outside sources. Following the post, provide a reference list reflecting the source(s) used in your response. Both in-text citations and the reference list must be in accordance with the current APA format.
