Striving for a Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology at Vrije University

This decision came naturally to me because of my innate inquisitiveness and passion for the subject and I was easily able to narrow down my choice to your prestigious university because of its international reputation for excellence. I reached out to your Student Ambassadors with my queries, and they helped me out immensely as well.

My long term goal can be best described by the Winston Churchill quote, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”. I had decided at a very young age that I wish to give back to society in whatever way possible and have spent the last 12 years of my life dedicated my free time to social work, be it teaching underprivileged students English and Math, conducting workshops on sanitation and healthy eating habits, painting public walls and setting up public benches or just by spending time with these children and playing football with them. A lot of these students are prone to falling sick and have close to no medical help available.

I’ve realized that the sky is the limit when it comes to creating a lasting impact on the groups that I care very deeply about, and in the future I see myself coming up with solutions that will let me apply what I learn at your organization and convert my long term vision into reality.

I have been a bright child since school and currently, rank among the top 20 students in my batch of 250 students in my undergraduate program. I have also given equal importance to staying in touch with the industry and have interned in different domains like a medical clinic, an IT company, a statistics company and a pharmaceutical industry. These internships have given me exposure to the intricacies of these domains and have also made me realize that a collaboration between these industries will unlock a whole new way of solving problems and this is already in progress thanks to the fields of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology. My current internship in the Genomics and Bioinformatics department of an international cancer super specialty hospital has encouraged me to read up more about this field on a daily basis and has propelled me further in the right direction. I am currently working on a project on HLA typing and writing a review on the current trends in Pharmacogenomics. I am also pursuing courses online to better prepare me for my subject of choice.

In order to develop a more well rounded personality, I have spent time polishing my communication and leadership skills. As a swimmer and basketball player, I subconsciously bring in focus, dedication, resilience, and teamwork to every task I take up. Classical dance taught me the lesson of hard work and patience. I am an outgoing and approachable person and this made my various leadership roles – be it as the head of my NGO or the organizer of conferences and workshops – very fruitful and exciting for me.

I would like to carry out more research in the field of incurable diseases. People not just in India, but all over the world suffer from chronic diseases and with the help of systems biology and bioinformatics, we can attempt to use mathematical and computational models to approach problems in a more holistic manner. Epidemics, virus borne diseases and neurodegenerative diseases continue to plague our society and it is up to us to augment research in these domains.

Vrije University has a history of granting scholarships to promising students from the developing world in order to further their skills and knowledge. I am sure many scientists around the world share a vision similar to mine, but what sets me apart is my unparalleled commitment towards giving this field my all. I believe that my dedication to academics, my work experience in various industries and my intense interest in pursuing Bioinformatics and Systems Biology as my future career path makes me a worthy candidate for this prestigious scholarship. I realize the honor being bestowed on me for being considered for selection and I am committed to meeting your stringent performance standards through my diligent and ethical work regime. Thank you very much for this privilege and I look forward to commencing my learning odyssey at the September 2019 semester.

Thinking about the Motivational Interest of Choosing Accounting and Finance

Choosing a subject might be intriguing or very irksome, so in the process of choosing a major academic subject we have to enlist our interest and skills in our mind. That’s what I did and found out that I was fascinated by an intimate thing: numbers.

Numbers. A countless set of probabilities, just like life. The entire universe is just a series of statistics, neither more nor less. This world cannot run for a split of a second without numbers. From the splitting of chromosomes to the mind blowing space shuttles everything is run by these mighty numbers. Numbers are the reason behind the establishment of banking systems and worldwide businesses. In addition, accounting is a profound way of dealing with numbers and it gravitated me since I came across this subject. For me accounting is something I am exceedingly avid about. From a young age I have always enjoyed accounting and finance and problem solving; fortunately for me these two interests of mine are a part of the fundamentals of accounting and finance.

My inspiration behind accounting and finance comes from a very tender age, the manipulations and calculations of accounting and finance always fascinated me and it always seemed to be my strong suit. This lead to my inspiration for accountancy, in my younger years I did a little work for Ismaili Boy Scout Group Yasin Colony affiliated with Pakistan Boy Scouts Association, doing basic calculations and organizing money for the group. The idea that accounting and finance is involved with almost every aspect of a person’s daily life intensely intrigues me. This fascinated me deeply and proved to me that it was a possibility of a career I wanted to pursue. In addition, working in a library (Diamond Jubilee Library Gilgit) as the head of finance has helped me develop analytical skills which are really crucial to understand the aroma of accounting. I have also volunteered in raising money for the establishment of this library. This has improved my sense of responsibility, and teamwork and motivation skills, as I had to interact, work efficiently and motivate my fellow peers. Furthermore, as the co-founder of an educational society known as Ebullient Capricious Crew I have lead this society to help and explore the educational problems of surrounding. To develop further insight into my chosen career I opted as the finance secretary for the organization. Working with the organization for almost three years has improved my adaptability skills during all this time I faced a range of new circumstances, developing new skills.

An institution having a strong student teacher relationship, that gives an amazing educational environment, and fosters your extracurricular skills is jotted down as a dream institute. LUMS is thought to be the Harvard of Pakistan providing actual learning with modern way of teaching and creative facilities. Its option of choosing a major during your first year was one of the main reasons of me applying for LUMS. Besides LUMS offering activity based and research oriented approach towards learning makes it distinctive among the other notable universities. I always wanted to pursue my studies in a flamboyant and promising university just like LUMS. The prospect of learning more about the field I want to go into is what motivates and excites me into going to University. Moreover, its accounting and finance degree has its high reputation within the country and across the whole globe making me more confidant to choose it. I hope by attending University, I can develop the skills that I currently possess and also gain new skills.

Aspiring to Be in the NICU

Growing up and realizing I had to pick a career that I was going to be stuck in for the rest of my life seemed very overwhelming. That put an immense amount of stress for a child who has their whole life to decide. I thought I had an endless amount of time to decide since I was only in middle school. My life changing experience made me realize that time was actually something I had to worry about.

During middle school, my great grandparents were both battling with leukemia. I would visit them at the hospital whenever I could. Prior to walking in the room I would have to put on a mask and gown to prevent any bacteria from transferring onto my great grandparents. It was very sad watching the cancer take over their body. The nurses at the hospital did everything they could to help them but unfortunately the cancer had beaten them. It seemed that the time it took for these events to unfold were brief and upsetting. It wasn’t until then that I realized I wanted to be a nurse. Watching my great grandparents suffer and being able to do nothing about it invoked a sense of altruism in me. I wanted to take action and help those in need.

The following year I was entering into high school. I was leaving a private middle school and a private high school seemed to be the right decision. However, after doing some research I found that Glen Burnie High School had a BioMedical Allied Health Magnet program (BMAH). That was right up my ally and I knew that was were I needed to go to pursue my career into becoming a nurse. After having my transcript looked over and an interview, I was accepted into the program. Throughout high school, I volunteered to go on many job shadows so I could see exactly what I wanted to do in the nursing field.

The last job shadow I went on was to the Institute of Notre Dame. They had so many stimulations for infants. There was a whole room dedicated to nursing students who were studying to be in the NICU. That’s where I found my second life changing moment.

As a senior, leaving high school, I know exactly what I want to be and study. I started taking classes at Anne Arundel Community college on top of having a full schedule at Glen Burnie High School, as well as being on the swim team so I can get a head start on my career goals of a NICU Nurse.

Getting a Scholarship as a Great Opportunity to Follow My Passion for Math

Currently I am a student at Diablo Valley College, and will continue to matriculate here until I am able to move on to a four-year university. My favorite subject is math. I’ve loved math since elementary school. In fact, I am considering mathematics as my chosen field. I am confident I will be successful in the future. I will focus and go the extra mile to be my best. One aspect of that success consists of the ability to reach out for assistance and instruction.

I know that asking for clarification and understanding from my professors is an essential part of a good education. I intend study assiduously for all of my classes. My desire is to be successful. Therefore, I’m determined to accomplish great work, no matter what my circumstances might be. Eventually, I will earn a math degree so I can become an expert in the field and have the ability to make an impact on others. I will also continue to work to improve my communication skills, and thus, increase my personal confidence.

I have continued to attain strong results in academics. For example, I earned an award for being the most improved math student in 11th grade. In addition, I have excelled in all my high school math classes, maintaining straight A’s in those classes. I have always had a passion for math, and I have been told by teachers that I have natural mathematical abilities. Ultimately, I was successful in high school with many A’s and a cumulative GPA of 3.7.

However, I know that academic are not the entirety of a student’s life. Life requires an attitude of responsibility. I have cared for a neighbor’s child an average of three times a week.in the last year. I also tutor my younger relatives with their math homework. My intention is to be a math tutor on campus to offset my living expenses. One other small contribution I make to a clean and healthy environment in my community is to recycle cans. But character consists, also, of understanding of the direction of your life.

That direction became clearer for me when I had a life-changing experience. I was in a Jet-ski accident. I fell off of the Jet-ski and was drowning. As you can probably imagine, it was quite a scary experience. I was forced to miss college for over a year to recover. Afterwards, my apartment and all of my belongings caught fire, making it impossible to pay for my education. So this is my goal, the education I have, and will seek. I really do want to go to college so that I can truly follow my passion of mathematics.

I am grateful for the opportunity to compete for your scholarship, and I am thankful you are making it possible for me to acquire a higher education. A scholarship would truly benefit me. I will work hard to make my patrons proud of their decision to invest in me. I know that all of my goals will remain dreams, and I intend to do all I can to attain those dream. Therefore, I will commit the time, attitude, and effort to make my educational life a success.

My Journey through Physical Science: Essay

Throughout the ages of time, physicists have come and gone. Very few of them get recognized in their lifetime. Names such as Satyendra Nath Bose, Julius Robert Mayer, and Emilie du Châtelet. The chances of these names getting mentioned in conservation about science are slim beyond compare. But in retrospect, these physicists have, or had, made significant impacts in the realm of physics. The realm of physics is not an easy career to make a huge sum of money, and certainly not a field to be recognized for. In a society like ours, people judge a high life satisfaction level as having a successful career.

In preparation for this topic, I interviewed California State University, Fullerton physics professor Dr. Loverude. In the interview, we discussed Dr. Loverude’s past and current career choices in order to understand the benefits and challenges of being a physics professor and their effects on a person’s life satisfaction level.

To start, I will determine the origin of my interest in science, specifically in physics. When I was an eighth grader, my science teacher would bring science to life every day, whether it was combining francium with water, creating a balloon-powered car, or creating a marble roller coaster. It was then that I knew I wanted to pursue science for the rest of my life. But it was not until after four painful years of high school that I would realize physics was the science for me. Each year brought its own ups and downs. During the interview, Dr. Loverude enlightened my understanding of my years in high school with advice from his own past experiences.

In my freshmen year, I was ecstatic to begin my journey through the different sciences, starting with biology which taught me to unleash my inner child-like curiosity. But biology was little more than memorizing flashcards, so I decided to move on to the next science. Chemistry, my sophomore year science class, taught me to demonstrate the scientific method and group collaboration. This is also where I learned to write a thorough lab report. Chemistry had great amazing experiments, however, it also had a literal table of elements that I needed to memorize. So again, I continued my journey to the next science, physics. My junior year was an interesting experience, to say the least, I had decided to take Advanced Placement Physics. Throughout the year, despite having a strict teacher, physics taught me how really think critically about analyzing problems using creativity. My experience with physics was tainted by a bad teacher, so with a little persuasion from a friend, I decided to take the next Advanced Placement Physics with a different teacher. And in the end, I received a letter of acceptance from California State University of Fullerton to study physics.

In Dr. Loverude’s own words, “This is the job that I am meant to do”. And in the last three years at the California State University of Fullerton, my list of questions about the universe only grows as my academics progress. If asked what happened my senior year, I just state that I fell in love. In love with the endless puzzle that is physics.

In a similar manner, Dr. Loverude tells his own story. His journey begins at the start of college, he knew he wanted to pursue either math or physics at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. After a couple of his lower-division courses in math and physics, he found that his physics courses were much more intriguing than math. And he received a bachelor’s degree in physics, he went on to earn a master’s degree and a doctorate in physics from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. His research was on the topic of how students learn certain subjects within physics, so with that, he became a professor at California State University of Fullerton. Where he has been teaching upper and lower-division physics courses for twenty years.

After asking about motivation towards what gets him out of bed every morning, Dr. Loverude told me that his family came first. But in his college experience, he was mostly self-motivated. As he explained, I also asked about what excited him, and his answer was elegant. He was passionate and excited to get to work with amazingly talented under and upper-graduate students. With that in mind, we drove deeper into the conservation of life satisfaction between his career and his personal life. In ‘The Sources of Happiness’ by His Holiness the Dalai Lama states that “happiness is determined more by one’s state of mind than by external events”. Dr. Loverude’s response in reference to His Holiness and his life satisfaction was: “This career lends itself to a kind of blur between the lines of at work or not at work”. At first, his answer did not seem to correlate with His Holiness, however, with some thought and reflection, it became clear. As the son of an elementary teacher and adjunct professor, I realized that even though my parents always came home with endless grading and lessons to prep, they always had time for what made them happy, me (and my siblings).

As we continue, we must understand the stereotypes about physicists that may affect their thought processes. For example, it may seem that physics is in some ways the opposite of art and that physicists must sacrifice their artistic intelligence to make way for cold rationality and logic. But after interviewing Dr. Loverude, we have found that this is simply not true. Each year, more research is done to create a better understanding of the universe, which could not have been apprehended without a huge amount of intuition and creativity.

Ultimately, physics remains a practical discipline. The process of developing magnificent theories is, more often than, not enough by itself. This means that every new theory must stand on its own compared to scientific observations of how the universe and everything in it works.

Nursing Admission: Sample Essay

My understanding of pediatric nursing is that not only can it be challenging it’s immensely rewarding, and my decision to pursue a career within this field has not been taken lightly.

Having worked and cared at length for children, I have truly realized the genuine magnitude of my desire to achieve success in a career that enables me to help and care for people, especially children. I am planning to return to education and I’m unwavering in my pursuit of a career as a registered nurse.

In relation to choosing to study child nursing, my current level 3 BTEC in Health and Social Care has given me an in-depth understanding of the importance of caring for children and young people and how to understand additional needs and children’s development from birth. My studies have fed into my career choice and have proven my ability to perform well in related subjects.

I have recently been in the involvement of looking after children who have been hospitalized after having had the opportunity to volunteer at the Royal Derby Hospital, which contributed to approximately 50 hours. I enjoyed being involved in their care and the idea of playing an active role in helping them to recover greatly appeals to me. I witnessed the importance of nursing, the hardworking and dedicated nurses who are both caring and inspirational. A typical day’s duties would have consisted of me making the children feel welcomed and of course this was beneficial as it helped improved younger people’s experience in the hospital, I also assisted children in supporting their recovery, which reduced the chance of being re-admitted. Volunteering has shown me I have a natural aptitude for communicating and emphasizing with children and has provided me to learn new skills and maintain old ones.

I further developed my skills at Ridgeway Infant School where I worked with reception years 1 and 2 pupils. I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the infants on their own level and gained a huge satisfaction from being able to help them learn and see them improve. Work experience revealed to me I can relate very well to children, and by having cared for a diverse spectrum of children I have gained valuable and tangible knowledge that will aid me in my studies. My experiences have improved my prospective nursing capabilities as the constant hands-on work has taught me to be resilient, how to read children and situations, and how to react quickly and successfully in an emergency.

In my free time, I enjoy regular exercise and playing sports; this has helped my ability to handle pressure, which is vital when working in a physically and emotionally demanding role. Playing sports has helped promote team play and allows me to get out of my competitive edge in a healthy way.

Overall, I have gained a considerable amount of experience working with young people which has given me plenty of qualities and skills to draw on in a pediatric nursing course at university and I am very much looking forward to expanding my practical knowledge, skills, and abilities by pursuing a degree in nursing. I hope to have the opportunity to further my education as I know I have the commitment, patience, and persistence to succeed.

Why MBA: Essay Example

The management of business fascinates me. Maybe it is because I come from a family of entrepreneurs who believe that nothing in life is easy and that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing well. If we need or want to live that dream, then the initiative must be ours alone. My idol is my grandmother, an indomitable lady who accepted employment outside her home at a time when women of our community were forbidden even to step out without a veil. My father, a first-generation industrial entrepreneur, broke a decades-long agency and trading family tradition to pursue his own dream; he is my role model. I would like to continue the entrepreneurial tradition of my family. An MBA in Leadership Practice from Napier University will offer me insight into the dynamics of a global working environment and its required thought processes. In a business world that is increasingly heading towards seamlessness, an MBA will equip me with the requisites to transcend the remaining boundaries and effectively execute the ambitious divergence and growth plans of my future organization.

From a young age, I set goals beyond those of my peers. I decided to pursue a BSc in Civil Engineering in my native country India, but in recognition of the limitation of programs in this field in my country, I decided to pursue my post-graduation diploma in the United Kingdom. The course was administered by the Heriot-Watt University of Edinburgh, where I had an immensely useful learning experience with world-class faculty due to the overall complexity and quality of the curriculum. My graduate coursework at Heriot-Watt University focused on construction management and various aspects. As a result, this post-graduation diploma in the UK gave me special skills which give a growth to my career, an idea of integrating both construction and business management inspired me to pursue the MBA degree at this point in my career. An established business set up by my father 20 years ago also provides me a good base to start my own business following my MBA graduation.

When it comes to world-class education UK has always set its standards very high and undoubtedly has one of the best research infrastructures in the world. Besides having amazingly engineered education policies, the country and its efficient system are very inviting to the globe. As a result of diverse settlers from all around the world, the country and its communities are unique, ever-changing, and accepting. A student looking for good education and exposure need not look further. Also given that all the people speak and understand English just makes things so much easier for students, as English is now a mandatory part of most curricula. With thousands of young graduates finding employment in the last decade gives me more hope for the quality of education I could find in the United Kingdom. The business being the field I wish to pursue would therefore be beneficial to me.

I feel that Napier University is the right choice for me as it is reputed for its excellent academic instruction as well as the personal attention given to its students. Furthermore, exposure to some of the biggest corporate companies is exactly what I see fits my requirements. I am convinced that at Napier University I would get the opportunity to learn not only from highly accomplished faculty but from an interaction with a global fraternity of students as well. I intend to make the most of such an invaluable experience and share my own experiences with them. I hope that studying at Napier University will provide me with opportunities that will truly widen my horizons and become stepping stones to a bigger and brighter future in the business world.

I believe that an MBA program at Napier University will equip me with a masterly understanding of the principles of my subject. It will also reinforce my efforts toward the path of excellence. I am confident that my research potential will be proven to be a well-defined capacity to conduct any research of high quality under the expert guidance of the distinguished faculty at this institution.

Why Do You Want to Study Business Analytics: Argumentative Essay

Business analytics is a field that investigates the performance of businesses and explores the market through data and statistical methods to gain insights and drive business planning. With the emergence of start-ups that have ambitions and great ideas, skills in business analytics become more and more indispensable in the job market. In China, there is a huge number of start-ups established every year, but the survival rates of those firms decrease exponentially within a few years of their establishment. It is really unfortunate to see firms that propose and develop insightful business plans falling so quickly. I believe that we can do more, by using the skills of business analytics, for those firms to be successful. The technical skills of a business analyst enable start-up firms to realize not only opportunities but also risks behind numerous business data, and help those firms manage their limited resources efficiently to achieve their business plans. To help corporations to move forward with rational decision-making and reach their objectives, a career in business analytics is my best choice to achieve this goal.

I realized how important business analytics is through the rise and fall of my cousin’s company. My cousin established an outdoor product brand three years ago, but he struggled to choose the location for the retail store. He opened the first retail store in a busy shopping mall in Shanghai. Although the shopping mall had a strong exposure, customers of the mall preferred luxuries much more than outdoor products, and the store’s earnings hardly offset the rent. Then, my cousin moved the store’s location to a less crowded merchandise street, but it turned out that only professional outdoor enthusiasts would consume. It was after many time-consuming and unprofitable trials, he finally found an appropriate location for the store. I saw the reason why business analytics matters through this incident because I could imagine that with the help of statistical and financial analysis, factors that affected the performance of retail stores could be quantified and evaluated to support and also adjust decision-making prior to the implementation of business plans. Although I understand that trial and error is a crucial and sometimes inevitable method to the success of a business, the process of business analytics not only can minimize the cost of trials by recognizing the optimum choice among different paths of business plans and decreasing the number of failing trials but also help administrators of firms to gain the perception of the market’s big picture from a technical perspective.

As a student of Financial Mathematics, I have equipped myself with statistical and financial models that can promote strategic marketing and operational decisions of businesses. For example, I have learned how to apply multilinear regression analysis by EViews in one of my econometric courses. In a project of this course, I was assigned to carry out a regression analysis based on 300 random samples for evaluating the relationship between US salary and its related factors such as gender, race, and work experience. Through my exploration of EViews and regression models, I was able to find important statistical values, including T-value, P-value, and R-squared, for those variables, and built a reasonable regression model that was in accord with my initial assumption for the coefficient of the regression equation. This project triggered my interest in business analytics because it was fascinating to know that real-life factors that seem uncorrelated to salary, such as religion and political tendency, actually can be incorporated into a quantitative pattern, which made me eager to know how this mode can be applied to business. Since technological proficiency is an important idiosyncrasy for a career in business analytics, which fits with my enthusiasm and educational background, thus I believe that business analytics is the right career path for me.

And the last reason why studying business analytics attracts me is its variety and diversity since the skills required by the job are comprehensive. One cannot be satisfied with the industry knowledge and statistical concepts that he or she is already familiar with and expect to rely on them for any incoming challenges. Thus, professionals in business analytics are expected to keep updating their skills and knowledge to accommodate the challenges and needs of the industry. Apart from technical skills, one also needs strong soft skills to have an outstanding performance in the career. I enjoy interacting with people, and I also regard communication as a necessary ability in the workplace. As a business analyst, one needs to communicate with clients in a rigorous but also comprehensible way to accurately present suggestions for business plans, which is challenging. Through multiple extra-curricular activities such as tutoring and charity work, my communicative ability is prepared for further development in business analytics. Since I trust the spirit of team working and the power of effective communication, I believe that business analytics is the right career path for me, and that’s why I really want to study it.

Also I,t will be emphasis tone studies of students.

Income & Educational

Studies of the relationship between education family income on student learning. ( Scott&Jessica,2017). Studying family income as predictions of scores in students of grades. According to the study of Tariqur ( 2018) that education contributes to income inequality positively.

They originally selected families to cover a variety of educational and income backgrounds, enabling the status of socio-economics to be compared. They divided the family into three groups: lower-income/less-educated, lower-income/ more educated, and higher-income/ more educated. Family patterns and behaviours were examined in terms of their various socio-economic backgrounds and schooling, as well as their parenting styles towards digital media and parental mediation, to explain the results ( Livingstone et al., 2015). Families from the lower background they not involved with the public school system as were their more wealthy peers. Because students from the lower-income were more likely to exhibit the behaviour.

Educational income is in connection with my study. To better understand the objectives of this study, defining the terms is needed so that the concept could be more understandable.

Socioeconomic status & Academic performance

Studies the main factor influencing academic achievement. It was found that the correlation between SES and Academic achievement may vary across different sociocultural. Therefore the author concluded that the residence background of the students. The better academic performance is likely to be up to a part ( Liu et al., 2020).

According to the study of Yen-Teng Lin(2020), that the majorly cited Coleman’s study as the reference for corresponding issues of Chinese version No Child Left Behind Act, that the relevance of this study is it went beyond in the education by accounting for many variables that could be related to academic performance. It will examine the student variables such as; Parents income, Parents education, etc: School variables such as; an average of homework, etc: Teacher variables such as; verbal ability, etc.

The main finding of the study was the importance of the socioeconomic background of the students in determining their academic performance. The school variables assessed in the analysis were the characteristics of the teacher, the verbal abilities of the teacher and his / her family educational history, which had the greatest influence.

Effect of Socioeconomic Status on Academic performance

Socioeconomic status, socioeconomic status, medium and poor to clarify the three families. Most of the three variables can be measured when placing a family or person into one of these clarifications; income, education, and occupation. It is not strange to imagine that the parental socioeconomic base may have a sly effect on the academic performance of school children. Parental status is one of the variables ( Joshi&Wani, 2016).

Parental socioeconomic status not only influences academic achievement but also helps low-background students to complete their high-socio-economic background peers in the same academic performance ( Duan et al., 2018).

The marks on the academic test are not greatly influenced by student assessment of instructions ( Dev&Qayyum, 2017). The attribute is used by many of the studies ‘As a fair proxy for actual grades,’ Anticipated Grade ‘since most student rating forms are completed by students before their final grades are obtained. The degree and direction in which the depending on the teaching background, the connection can differ for any one lesson, teacher, or student.

The better explains the idea behind effect socio-economic on academic performance. This idea is with the study which is why it is significant. Discussing these issues in a form of research is significant and relevant to the study being conducted.

Effects of the Poverty & Strategies for the Poverty

Poverty can be understood as the condition in which people are deprived of a wider array of material and social aspects that are central to life in a particular society (Mendonça dos Santos, 2018). The poor generally lack not only income, but education, health, justice, veneration and other productive resources, and opportunities. Poverty is one of the reasons why young people experience depression and behavioural problems. Poverty increases the risk to students from mental problems. And many parents do not have enough income because they did not finish school so they do not get a good job and enough income. Poverty is a longtime worldwide concern. Essentially, poverty can be understood through multiple social science perspectives.

To reduce poverty in the least developed countries, knowing household subsistence strategies is crucial. This research is an attempt to analyze household livelihood strategies, examine the most lucrative strategy, and describe the variables affecting the choice of better strategies for a household. The major influencing factors on the adoption of higher returning livelihood strategies are land ownership, schooling, agriculture and skill training, access to credit, and proximity to the road and market centre. Improving access to schooling, vocational training, rural credit and rural infrastructure to enable poor households to adopt market-oriented farming and non-farm activities is crucial for poverty reduction.

Theoretical Framework

This study is anchored on the theory of involvement(Astin, 1984 ). The theory of involvement is based on an assumption that the understand how students develop and evolve during their studies. This theory is possible to classify predictive studies in higher education into two groups. The first type of predictive studies, most likely the most popular in high er education, examined academic performance as an ‘input-output’ process, a common approach in the field of education. The second type of higher education predictive studies has examined academic performance as an ‘input-environment-output’ process. This theory illustrates that involvement forms among the certain minority of the context here apply to both the school setting and the policy initiatives at a higher administrative level, while feedbacks relates to the resources available. The process involves curriculum, school, organization, and school environment. Meanwhile, success is typically described in terms of the achievement of students. According to theory, having a part-time job may have a beneficial effect on the retention of students, the explanatory function of works status was generally explored separately from experience. In this regard, the general trend in literature has been to examine the effect of working hours on the academic performance of students(Nonis&Hudson, 2006: Stinebricker, 2003, Rochford et Al., 2009). According to Yanbarisova(2015), Students prefer to work while attending college; it can therefore be argued that not only low SES students would work during their studies.

This theory relates to my study I conduct because it explores the experiences of students. There are students low academic performance at school was observed in whose parents had low income, low levels of education, low status, and family population (Cowan et al., 2012).

Why Biology Major Essay

Becoming a first-generation graduate has been one of my most honored privileges. I’ve learned to love the responsibility of being someone who inspires not only my family but others around me. My core biology classes, microbiology, biochemistry, pathogenic microbiology & immunology, bioinformatics, zoology, genetics, and cell biology have all ensured me I made the right choice to become a biology major. A master’s program in biological sciences will place me a step closer to pursuing a career in academic dentistry, and only a master’s program at UNO can consummate this ambition.

With a newly awarded degree, I’m eager to explore the depths of the wonderful world of biology. I would like to focus on an advanced degree in ecology and evolutionary biology. Ecology and evolutionary biology are ideal branches of science for me because they encompass my interests in ecology, genetics, evolution, population and conservation biology, animal and plant diversity, statistical analysis of biological data, and ethics. Not to sound too cliche, but watching Animal Planet and Discovery Channel when I was younger made me think I was an expert biologist. Now that I have an opportunity to become one, I’m taking full advantage. I cannot help being impressed by the evolution of various phenomena of life. Evolutionary processes are why we have such a diversity of life here on Earth. Studying how diverse genes, cells, organisms, species, and ecosystems have evolved can potentially help us determine how our future will continue to evolve.

I was a junior when I took the initiative to join research programs that enhanced my passion for this field. I’ve done the research for the Research on the Science and Engineering of Signatures (ROSES) and Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOARS) programs at my university, and this summer I finished research with NASA L’SPACE Mission Concept Academy. In my research for ROSES, I was honored to be the lead researcher, and my project focused on making biobatteries (a bio-battery is known as a device in which the substrate material, organic or inorganic is converted to electric energy; this conversion takes place with the help of various biological or biochemical agents such as enzymes or micro-organisms). For the SOARS program, my research was focused on a microfluidic chip design for sorting C. elegans by size. The NASA L’SPACE Mission Concept Academy was a new and different opportunity I was able to be a part of outside of my university. I was a part of the science division as one of the research scientists and the safety officer. The main objective was to design a mission concept (PDR) that would help characterize a hydrocarbon sea mare or lake on Saturn’s moon, Titan.

Having worked hard to gain a background in STEM research, I am excited by the prospect of applying this knowledge to an extended study in the Ecology and Evolutionary program. A true commitment to biology study means persistence despite turns and twists. Although my overall GPA as an undergraduate was merely 2.75, I knew that I was a person of unlimited potential, which could be brought into full play through extra persistence. My undergraduate experiences have inspired me to continue my education in graduate school so I can further my research and make meaningful contributions to our community. Well-grounded in academics, research, and experimental skills, I am ready to travel a long way in my lifelong research career by attending this highly regarded master’s program.
