Abstract

To achieve different career goals, individuals should be able to acquire new skills that can support their career objectives. The proposed study seeks to outline the most desirable skills, behaviors, and strategies for personal career growth. The study will encourage more people to develop specific attributes to achieve their personal and career goals.

Many people are unable to realize their personal goals because of inappropriate career planning. Individuals who plan and acquire new competencies find it easier to achieve their career objectives. A professional who develops new organizational skills, effective strategies, and positive behaviors will become successful. Such attributes will increase a person’s chances of getting promotions and better jobs. Career success empowers employees to tackle their challenges and needs. This proposed study will therefore outline the most appropriate behaviors, skills, and strategies that can support a person’s career objectives.

Introduction

Every person wants to have a successful career. Successful people tend to possess specific skills, competencies, and abilities that make it easier for them to achieve their goals. They also engage in a powerful practice called life-long learning (Weng & McElroy, 2012). The practice equips them with the most enviable concepts and evidence-based ideas regarding the targeted career path. The proposed research study focuses on three major areas that should be taken seriously in an attempt to have a successful career. These areas include the possession of appropriate skills, ability to embrace proper strategies, and depiction of desirable workplace behaviors (Weng & McElroy, 2012).

Problem Statement

Career growth is something that does not happen automatically. More often than not, a person looking for a new job is unaware of the best skills and attributes that can make him or her successful. Some people focus on getting new jobs without understanding the best competencies that can make them successful. Yoopetch (2012) indicates that many employees find it impossible to achieve their career goals because they lack adequate information. Before getting a job, people should be aware of their career goals and acquire the best skills that can make them successful. Every “career or profession requires unique ideas and dedication” (Weng & McElroy, 2012, p. 149).

That being the case, a person planning to get a new job should begin by developing the most desirable traits and behaviors. This is something that has always been ignored by many professionals and employees. Consequently, such persons have been unable to address their career challenges.

Background and Purpose of the Study

Weng and McElroy (2012) encourage individuals to develop a powerful career philosophy. Such a philosophy outlines the best practices and actions that can result in career growth. The model offers appropriate steps and behaviors that will make it easier for a person to succeed. Professionals who formulate strong career philosophies achieve their goals much faster. Such individuals also find it easier to support the needs of their workmates and followers. Many theorists encourage professional workers to focus on the best practices to strengthen their employability skills.

The purpose of this study, therefore, is to analyze several strengths that can make it easier for more people to become successful in their lives. A successful career opens new doors for opportunities and achievements (Yoopetch, 2012). The proposed study will therefore outline several skills, behaviors, and strategies that can make more people successful. Such attributes will increase chances of getting a new job.

Scope and Limitations

Many researchers have supported the importance of different employability skills. The possession of organizational skills is something that supports the career goals of many people. Modern theorists and career advisers always encourage job-seekers to develop the best employability competencies to achieve their goals. The proposed study will therefore outline the most effective attributes towards having a successful career path (Weng & McElroy, 2012). However, several limitations will affect the success of the study. To begin with, very little research has been done on the issue of career growth. As well, the allocated time will make it hard for the researchers to undertake a quantitative study. The available financial resources might also affect the quality of the collected information.

Methods of Research

An explorative and systematic review of past studies will be done. The researchers will also analyze different books, articles, and publications to understand the most effective traits that are targeted by employers (Weng & McElroy, 2012). Different websites will also be visited to understand the major competencies and attributes sought by employers.
