Its depiction omits the background of the whole story; however, it emphasizes the great attention given to piracy and other interesting events. Piracy was one of the integral parts of this region of that period of time. The beneficial geographical location, a number of small islands and convenient bays, the constant flow of galleons full of precious metals, and colonial wars between influential European states gave rise to the spread of this phenomenon. Moreover, as the movie shows us, former slaves also willingly joined the ranks of pirates. Besides, the movie Captain Blood revolves around a former English doctor who is enslaved and sent to the Caribbean, Port Royal. However, he manages to get free and become one of the most powerful pirate captains who fight against Spanish forces. He tries to forget his past and find a new life.
