Brim, Inc. is an organization in the outskirts of California. It sells computers and electronics. The organization has a global presence. I met the company’s CEO, Mr. Frank Josephs, whom I gave a face-to-face interview. According to Josephs, social media has been instrumental in the company’s success. Moreover, digital revolution was chief in the company’s drive to use social media. In fact, the company started by installing broadband connections for computing. The main facets of social media utilized by the company are Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Facebook. In addition, the company has a website that utilizes different marketing techniques to reach its customers. Furthermore, the company advertises in websites, news medias and radio stations, among others (O’Rourke, 2013).
Effectiveness of social media use
The organization is effective in social media use because it has observed tremendous increase in sales since the inception social media advertising. Moreover, customers have been able to interact with the organization through social media forums. This has also increased their penetration in the market.
An explanation for the evaluation
During the interview, the CEO took me through their records of sales. Surprisingly, the onset of increased sales was realized after the company ventured in social media. Moreover, he took me through the records of customers that participated in social forums. This was an excellent view of social media advertising at its best.
Comparison of the academic research methodology with the interviewing methodology
Academic research methodology utilizes defined steps in its process while interviewing methodology does not. Moreover, the latter may alter the number of questions to be asked during an interview. Academic research is usually based on peer-reviewed sources, which are credible. On the other hand, interviewing methodology does not have to interview credible people (O’Rourke, 2013).
The strengths and weaknesses of each research methodology
Academic research methodology is credible and can be published for further utilization. However, this is not the same with interviewing research methodology, unless the source is reliable. Interviewing research methodology is prone to errors while academic research methodologies are usually accurate. Moreover, Interviewing methodologies are usually easy, fast and cheap to conduct. However, academic research are extensive, time consuming and expensive to conduct.

Interviewing methodologies include face-to-face, email, phone, and chat interviews. These interviews are considerably easy to conduct since they are tailored to the interviewee. On the other hand, academic research methodologies involve collection of data from various credible sources. This consumes time because the researcher has to conduct research from various relevant sources. However, it is more credible than interviewing methodologies since its sources are reliable and scholarly. Interviewing may face difficulties when the respondents are indifferent (Bazerman & Moore, 2009).
