Being one of the possible responses to managing severe health issues in patients, bone-marrow-derived cells need to be seen as potential change agents. The article by Taj et al. (2019) proves that the use of bone-marrow-derived cells can prevent cases of pregnancy failure and loss in mice, thus positing that it has the potential to be used in women as well. The study shows that, in the course of pregnancy, bone marrow cells were regularly directed to the uterus and the area of implantation, thus serving as the support system. Remarkably, even the mice that had deficiencies in their womb still managed to get pregnant with the help of the Hoxa11 protein, which has been shown to drop in women that had pregnancy issues and had the propensity toward pregnancy loss (Taj et al., 2019).

Therefore, the impact of bone-marrow-derived cells as the source of decidual cells that affect the development of the fetus has to be scrutinized further.
