When a teenage girl leaves home to study, she should understand that the years of her own personal responsibility have begun. The child is becoming a real adult who will make decisions that may affect her entire life. Clearly, there will be a lot of pressure and a lot of joy as well. Of course, parents do not leave their child without their support and care. One of the ways to express this care is to provide the child with five major tips on being healthy. The tips that follow will help the child to become a healthy and happy adult. The tips are provided in the specific order (from the most important to the least important).
Tip One: Be Active Physically
First, you should be active physically. It is vital to remember that people need considerable physical activity to remain healthy. Physical exercises help people decrease mass, improve flexibility and balance, prevent age related diseases (Davis and Stöppler 1). It has been acknowledged that physical activity reduces significantly the risk of developing such serious disorders as obesity, osteoporosis, chronic arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, stroke and so on. Notably, the rate of young people having these disorders in the USA is quite high and it is increasing steadily. Therefore, it is essential to remain cautious.
Apart from apparent benefits of being physically active, it also helps people to be happy. Thus, physical activity improves people’ self-esteem, which is important especially for young people and especially when they are only starting to live on their own. This will help young adults to avoid stress, anxiety, depression and other mental issues (“Healthy Living: 8 Steps to Take Today” 2). Therefore, walk more and take up some sport (athletics, yoga, swimming, and sport game and so on).
Physical activity is the first and major tip, as it is the basis for people’s health and being satisfied with their lives. Being active makes people ready to setting and achieving goals, taking risks and handling challenges.
Tip Two: Eat Healthy Food
The next step is to have a healthy diet. Young people often erroneously deem that they can eat anything and remain healthy. They often think that diets are for obese and old people (30-year-olds). This is one of the most dangerous mistakes to make. If you eat healthy food in your teenage years, you will not have issues when you are thirty. Hence, you have to eat three meals a day. Remember breakfast and lunch have to be substantial but dinner has to be quite light. You should not limit consumption of some products (excluding junk food, of course). Diversity is the key to the healthy diet. Eat as much of fruit and vegetables as possible. These are best ways to have a snack. You should not be afraid of snacks! However, they should be healthy, too!
This is a very important area as it is the foundation of your healthy and happy living. We get energy from food. This energy is important for physical activity and being healthy. So, make your basis firm.
Tip 3: Focus on Your Mental Health
Of course, you already understand that a healthy body is impossible without mental health. You have already faced numerous issues such as anxiety and depression. We helped you overcome those issues. Now, you will have to do this alone as we will be able to help you from the distance. Remember that stress is a natural thing as people have always faced numerous stresses (“Chronic Stress Puts Your Health at Risk” 1). People also have various ways to respond to any stress. Thus, when there is a dangerous situation, people’s bodies are ready to respond and survive (fight-or-flight). However, in the contemporary world, these stressful situations ( which are still seen as a hazards by the body) are very common and people may remain in the state of alert for a long time. This is especially true for females who tend to have prolonged periods of emotional alert, so-to-speak, (Nauert 1). Some girls resort to pharmacological interventions but it is crucial to remember that there are various nonpharmacologic ways to treat stress (Young 397). Physical activity, healthy diet, active social life and absence of bad habits are central to this treatment.
Tip 4: Be Active in the Society
This does not mean you have to be necessarily an activist fighting for the rights of the poor. However, you should have numerous ties with your peers. Be friendly and do not judge, be supportive and empathetic. Having many friends is beneficial for a person who is transferring to adulthood, as these friends will support the young adult.
Tip 5: No Bad Habits
Of course, you do not have time for bad habits. Your studies, physical activity and social life will provide you with the thrill and relaxation at the same time. Smoking, drinking and using drugs may interfere with the healthy system of your life. Clearly, it will have numerous detrimental effects on your health. Though it is the fifth tip to be mentioned, it is crucial as having bad habits may undermine the healthy plan that is constituted by the four sections mentioned above.
Follow these tips and be healthy and happy!
