As we move into Module 3, we will bee looking into different types of epistatic

As we move into Module 3, we will bee looking into different types of epistatic interactions and we will see some examples in plants as well as in chickens and dogs. Epistatic interactions are also studied not only to explain the why or how we observed different phenotypes but also in order in the context of evaluating resistance to infections. An article published in Nature by Desrosiers et al. in 2005 studied how epistasis between the mouse Klra and the major histocompatibility complex class I loci is associated with resistance to mouse cytomegalovirus (MCMV) infection. The research group found through a series of experiments that this is due to a new natural killer cell mechanism implicated in MCMV resistance, which depends on the functional interaction of the Ly49P receptor and the major histocompatibility complex class I molecule H-2Dk on MCMV-infected cells.
For this week, find a scientific article that provides an example of epistasis in an organism of your choice. Remember to tell us why you chose the article and to comment on at least two other posts by your peers.
