Introduction

Accreditation of public healthcare aims to promote quality upgrading and increased performance of health departments all over the country. This does not imply that the current health departments are of poor quality but means that health facilities should be of high standard. therefore each person in the country is able to access health services that are of excellent quality regardless of which part of country one resides. This enables the patients to feel secure when visiting health facilities because they are assured of receiving the best and quality services (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services p.56).

An issue raised on accreditation and plans to solve them

Directorial strategic planning

The main issues brought up by local public and state health sector representatives on the impending countrywide accreditation programs was divided into two parts which included directorial strategic planning public health upgrading preparation and accreditation preparedness and the other one was update of communal healthcare accreditation (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services p.6).

In both issues the public health accreditation board (PHAB) gave an outline of certification process. Expansion of draft principles amid contribution from stakeholders, recent milestones of accreditation programs were put into consideration. A plan for the assortment of about 30 health departments which were to take part in beta check of state communal health accreditation program up to the end of the year 2010 was laid down(JCAHO p.45).

Getting ready for accreditation

Another question came up on health departments which were not taking part in beta check, the way they were not getting ready for accreditation prior to formal roll out of national programs in 2011. A precise recommendations regarding how communal health departments could start preparing by evaluation of processes and standards which were in sketch outline and without expectation of any significant changes were given. These departments were supposed to start stating the jobs to be done so as to meet the fresh necessities, to review on which health needs the community requires and systemize the staff in health departments for accreditation (Levine p.4).

Duration taken for accreditation and the cost

One other issue was the duration taken for accreditation and the cost to be incurred. The cluster was clued that that public health departments were supposed to be re-accreditated after duration of five years and there was going to be a team particularly running on the charges and incentive portion to be used by the program and was also notified by the beta test. The PHAB is doing its best to ensure that the cost is rational. The two parts exposed that so much work was being done on the on going public health programs that were innovative and aimed fabricate on the work that was in progress (Anonymous p.23).

Conclusion

Accreditation ensures that the health trainees and health facilities like hospitals meet the requirements expected by accreditation bodies so that they are capable of offering quality health services. The issues that emerged on the accreditation process helped the hospitals to come up with plans to solve the problem. The PHAB reinforced the implementation of the plans and made sure that all health departments were accreditated.
