VIDEODISCUSSIONASSIGNMENTINSTRUCTIONS
INSTRUCTIONS
For this assignment you will post twice during the assigned Module: Week. Your initial video
post will be to the prompt for each discussion. The initial video must be minimum of 3 minutes
to a maximum of 5 minutes long and must contain at least 1 scholarly source. This source must
be verbally referred to in the video (you can state you are getting the information from: author
and year). You will then comment on your video, once posted, with a written APA reference for
the source you cited. For full points the source needs to be outside your Learn materials.
In addition to the initial post, you are required to post one video reply. Your reply can be to a
classmate or to a question posed by your professor. Your reply must be a minimum of 2 minutes
long and a maximum of 3 minutes long and use at least 1 scholarly source, cited and referenced
in the same manner as your original video.
Note: Acceptable scholarly sources include Learn materials or professional journal articles (no
websites).
Submit your initial Video Discussion 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday of the assigned Module:
Week. Submit your reply by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of the same Module: Week.
VIDEO DISCUSSION GUIDELINES
Your classmates and instructor will be viewing your video. Here are some guidelines to ensure
that you are providing the best possible impression:
1. Keep in mind that although not in the traditional classroom setting, you are in a
professional, academic environment. Attire, language, and the content of the discussion
must be kept within the Student Expectations and the Liberty Way.
2. Minimize distractions for yourself and your viewers. If possible, record in an area where
pets, family members, media, etc., will not be heard or seen in the background.
3. Gather and organize your thoughts before beginning your recording. Doing so will help
ensure that you are staying on topic and will allow your viewers to provide substantial
responses (if applicable).
4. If needed, write down your thoughts to help you create a smooth presentation; however,
be certain that you are not simply reading from your notes. This is an opportunity to
contribute to the discussion and to demonstrate what you have learned.
5. Students can record the video on their computer or phone and upload the video to
Kaltura. They can also record directly in Kaltura. Once the video is recorded, they will
follow the instructions on the document to embed the Kaltura video in their post. It is
important that students use Kaltura. Here is a link to provide students for additional help
with using Kaltura. https://watch.liberty.edu/channel/Kaltura/73058011
Post-First: This course utilizes the Post-First feature in all Discussions. This means you will
only be able to read and interact with your classmates’ threads after you have submitted your
thread in response to the provided prompt.
