In this assignment, you’ll make some preliminary decisions about Writing Project
In this assignment, you’ll make some preliminary decisions about Writing Project #2: The Location Spotlight Webpage. You’ll decide which platform you’ll use to create your website, then use the Webpage Planning Matrix to map out how your webpage will actually be structured. In other words: you’ll start an outline of your webpage.
Instructions
Make a copy of the Webpage Planning Matrix. Simply open this Google DocLinks to an external site.. and select “Make a copy.” (Click for PDF and Word versions.)
Choose and explain a platform/program for creating your website. Remember, as the assignment instructions say, “you are free to use any software that allows you to compose visually designed web texts (like webpages); the platform you use must allow you to create separate sections/tabs/pages.” So, for this step, explore some of your options for creating a webpage. Test out at least one of those options (e.g., Google Sites, Weebly) to ensure that you can use it to complete this assignment. Then, In 100+ words, tell us what program you chose, as well as how your test run went. Write your answer in the top box on the Web Planning Matrix.
Think of four (4) sections that you’ll want to include in your webpage. Your webpage’s goal is, remember, “to raise awareness about this location–about its existence, history, merits, and concerns.” And towards that goal, your webpage should be “organized into four or more distinct sections, tabs, or sub-pages; each of these sections should offer robust and research-supported awareness to your readers.” So, for this step, plan which sections you’ll need to include in your webpage to achieve that goal. (Your “Welcome” and Works Cited” pages should not be included in this list.)
For EACH of the four sections, answer the questions in the appropriate cells of the Webpage Planning Matrix. You will be asked to share your working title for the section, your main point, your supporting points, what research you plan to use in that section, and what multimodal elements you plan to use.
Submit your Webpage Planning Matrix using the following instructions. Note: We will not accept link submissions-only file uploads.
Download your Google Doc as a .docx or .pdf: Hover over File > Download and click on either Microsoft Word (.docx) or PDF Document (.pdf).
Click “Submit” in this assignment, then upload your Word or PDF file.
*No need to include in-text citations or a Works Cited for this assignment.
