DaVita, one of the largest operators of kidney dialysis centers in the United States, underwent a remarkable turnaround between 2000 and 2005. The company’s transformation was based on building a strong values-driven culture with an emphasis on fact-based decision-making and the theme of “one for all, all for one.” The company emphasized community as a priority.
Now, DaVita’s top management faces a number of challenges including:
Integrating one of its largest competitors, which they just acquired in a merger.
Ensuring management succession and not being too CEO-centric.
Dealing with the operational issues confronting a company heavily dependent on Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, which do not fully cover the cost of treatment.
Competing for employees in the healthcare industry.
Case Study Steps
Gather and review all pertinent data. Do not skip any of the articles, and read through the case very carefully, as you will need a comprehensive understanding of the issues in order to analyze the case.
Next, your paper will need to describe what is happening in the case and set up the logistics. Identify the issues:

What traits, skills, or behaviors are identified?

Brainstorm all the issues, then pick 3-5 issues to analyze in your paper. You will need to elaborate on these issues, so pick those that have enough substance for you to analyze. Your paper should rely upon leadership theories and approaches that we’ve learned about in the course.
Evaluate, interpret, and analyze what was effective and what was ineffective, and why. Ground your analysis in the leadership theory and approaches we’ve studied.
