In this assignment, you are required to evaluate three pitches from the television show, Shark Tank. At the beginning of the instructional week, the instructor will send you links via the course announcements to specific episodes that you may use for this assignment. The pitches you evaluate must come from these episodes but do not all need to come from the same episode.
While instruction in this lesson focused on the language and content of the initial pitch, we will be examining the entire pitch experience, from initial pitch through the question-and-answer session.
Begin your essay by identifying the episode, the entrepreneur’s name, the topic (product or service) of the pitch, what the entrepreneur is asking for, and whether or not the entrepreneur was successful in securing an investor (including the deal) As you watch each of the three pitches, you should be able to answer the following questions in your essay.
Identify if the initial pitch (approximately the first 30 seconds) was successful or unsuccessful and why you believe so. Clues may be given to you based on the responses of the Shark investors. Similar to the guided pitches found in this lesson, your evaluation should be based on the criteria listed in this lesson regarding nonverbal communication, the six questions to address in the pitch, and the language for a powerful elevator pitch.
