Applying Macroeconomic Concepts: Real World Examples

The final project will consist of a research paper and presentation You will be required to choose a country, (NOT the United States and NOT US territories or US commonwealth, etc. such as Puerto Rico, Guam or the US Virgin Islands.)
For this assignment you will collect basic socio-economic data and other relevant description information on your country. You can fly solo or choose 1 partner to work and present with. (Either individual or teams of two).
DUE DATE: 12.04.23 by the start of class.
Include the following topics and subtopics in your paper:
The name of the country and its geographic location. Does the geographic makeup/natural resources/landscape/location give this country any economic advantages?
Basic socio-demographic information, such as population, major ethnic groups, religions, age distribution, educational attainment, sanitation, health data, GDP per capita, happiness, life span, notable famous people, products, or businesses, or anything else you think is important.
Economic information such as GDP, GDP per capita, the name of the national currency, exchange rate to the dollar, major imports and exports, comparative advantages, major trading partners, the unemployment and inflation rate, data on productivity, the size of the shadow economy, or anything else that you think is important.
Type of government and banking system, membership in major international organizations and/or trade agreements such as the UN, the IMF, the World Bank and major regional organizations such as the EU, the Euro Zone, ASEAN, USMCA, etc.
Format and other instructions:
Your research paper should be at least 750 words. Shorter submissions will be penalized.
The paper must be in an essay-like report format, not in a Q&A format.
Include in-text citations and a works cited section in APA format.
Remember: you should not “copy and paste” information. Plagiarism is penalized with a zero in the assignment the first time, and a zero in the course the second time. Use your own words and quote only facts or numbers. Use reliable references. Do not use Wikipedia, Britannica, or such sources of information.

Expectations for the research assignment and presentation:
1) Respond to all topics and sub-topics.
2) Cite (APA style) all the information presented, not just direct quotes.
3) Reference (APA) style) the sources at the end. (After the research paper, I want another page with references)
4) Use proper paragraphing (No bullet points, no numbers, no Q&A type writing)
5) Present the information to the class in a clear and professional fashion. (Keep the presentation 4-8 minutes) If you decide to work with a partner (teams of two) both parties are expected to share the presentation responsibilities. (PowerPoints are recommended but you are in creative control.)
