In addition, thinking about the concepts covered in this course will help you deepen your understanding of them. Exactly what content in the course you will learn more about depends on you. There are five possible problems (listed below), with each of them linked to a set of cognitive processes that we have covered in the semester. You are free to choose any of them.Instructions
For your term paper, you will be working in a group of 4-5 students and applying knowledge about cognitive processes to a real-life problem. You must choose a problem from the list below and apply 5 concepts that we have reviewed in this course to the solution of the problem.
Here is the list of possible problems (choose one; note that the concepts that you will focus on are underscored):
1. You will be tutoring an easily-distracted and unmotivated middle-schooler in math. Use what you have learned about attention, working memory, and long-term memory and explain 5 measures that you will take to make sure that your student will learn as much as possible from the tutoring sessions.
Application: create a growth mindset classroom
In each one of your five applications, you should clearly indicate what concept from class you are using, what is the relevant knowledge regarding that concept that you will be applying, and your application of the concept.
Your paper should meet the following requirements. Points will be discounted for every deviation from these requirements that we find.
